These XK planes really are a fantastic way to get into the hobby. I started with the XK A160 Skylark(yes, they corrected the tip stall issues) and it’s still one of my favorite planes. Super inexpensive way to enter the hobby and still actually fly planes that work. I would NOT HAVE STAYED IN THIS HOBBY had it not been for these XK planes teaching me to fly, without having to refinance my home. I’m a big fan. Also, you can dial these things in pretty well by adjusting the servo arms to different holes. They do really limit your bank angles in safe mode, but if you get in a tight spot, you can use the throttle to assist with turns.

I want to mod this plane SOOOOOOOOOOOO badly. I will be doing it soon. She's such a looker, but need to be tamed, and I have some ideas on how to keep the gorgeous scale looks, but gain some rock solid flight performance...if all goes as planned :) I hope you'll stick around an see what I do!

I would never discourage you from getting a plane you love, BUT, UMX EDF's are usually pretty disappointing. They are not powerful, and not as fun as you will expect...but if you get it, I wish you the very best!!!

I haven’t commented in sometime. The only thing this lacks are micro ducted fans😏that would be cool. Been thinking of picking this up. I fly quads but always wanted to learn fix wings...price is right on this too. Good job with the video.
I MUST warn you, Fly Bar, this plane flies "bad" and I intend to make it fly good, so that I have a SWEEEEEEEET looking AND Good Flying plane. It does fly, but it's kinda like flying by suggestion, something that will turn you off to fixed wing very quick. SOOOOOO, if you do get it, make sure you understand what you're getting into. Nice looking, small, and fun, but NOT easy to fly, and NOT "Good" flying stock.....but you can always make the same mods I'm making and it'll be sweeeeeeeeeet, just like mine - LOL

Hey, dude. I’ve always loved your videos. I’ve bought some great aircraft after watching some of your vids. I should probably figure out how to PM you, but just a couple of comments from a creator point of view:
I’ve seen comments from other viewers regarding your audio output. I’ve been agreeing with them, even though you hadn’t seen a problem. I suspect that some of us with older phones (6s here) can not get enough volume, while those with newer iPhones have more volume to deal with. But even with that in mind, unless you’re doing a close-up, your volume is much less than your camera lady. If you’re not using a shotgun mic, I’d recommend one. If you are, then I’d recommend a lapallier mic. Looks like the Rode Wireless Go setup might be a good fit for you.
Also, I might suggest taking the exposure setting off of ‘auto’. The exposure flickering is quite distracting.
Again, love your vids. Just wanna help you polish them...
I appreciate your concerns, and we share them, but at the moment in our crazy busy lives, adding another layer of video editing would be video-prohibitive....What I mean by this, is that if it's any harder to film, we will simply not do it. We're very strapped for time, and when we get some more spare time, we have plans to improve this problem.
I do get that it's tough for those who are watching on a tablet or smartphone, but this is something that I can't help for the moment. Possibly, a pair of headphone might help? OR a small set of speakers? We watch on the desktop, which I realize is a bit of a nuance anymore, but even still, we can crank up the volume however high we want...same on our tv, where we have a large AVR to turn up the volume as much as we can handle.
I hope you'll be patience with us as we work to improve audio quality. We don't want to lose people over such a seemingly minor detail, but we understand there IS a concern.

Gee Whizz B , It’s about time you put out another airliner vid .. LOL.. just kidding I know your busy with the new home. Yes needs four 3mm EDF’s and aileron’s perhaps fowler split flaps and a awesome set of scale lighting ! You can do this B. How cool would this airliner be in a micro EDF w/ everything I mentioned plus ,, a really expensive set of retracts. I’d go all in on a purchase like that. Just might have to settle for this though. I have the C117 Stratocaster this would look great parked together.

They are called 3.7v since this is the midrange voltage.
Same goes for almost all battery's including the standard 12v car battery which has 13.8 when full

I thought it would...depends on which pack you have. Some are narrow and long, and some are more fat and they don't fit in the opening.

I can imagine that the gears could be made more accurate if the plane would be used in a large hall with a very smooth surface.
For sure, on a smooth surface they'd work better. I've just taken the landing gear off of most of these super small airliners, as they just look so much better, and the takeoffs and landings, typically my favorite part of flying, are just not so great on these small airliners. So I just hand launch them.

Got it flew it once didn’t crash it. Went to put the battery back in after letting it charge and now it won’t work. I’ve tried 4 different 3.7 batteries.

Hi Brian, good looking little bird, looks a little squirrely to fly, I well probably pass, really nice review, you wife is really good shooting these videos, if you want something that is totally different, check out the FV- 31 Cypher VTOL EDF from Flex Innovations, this thing is totally amazing.Flex Innovations don't have a lot of aircraft but what they do have are really cool and very well thought out and the build quality is extremely good....

When I heard the sirens I was worried that it might be the FAA, reinforced by local law enforcement, coming to haul you away because you didn’t have a UAS registration number applied somewhere on the exterior of your model ... 😳 That’s right, it’s the new government mandate as of February 25, 2019. If your model weighs more than 250g (8.82 ounces), you need to apply for a pilot registration with the FAA if you are going to operate it outdoors. Failure to adhere to the new mandate could mean fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment for three years. Isn’t big government just wonderful ? 🙁
Update: Looks like you’re ok. That model weighs 76g with the battery installed. We can all breath easy now because you aren’t a felon due to this RC flight video. Whew ! 😃 That cool 70mm EDF Viperjet that you have weighs 70 ounces all up flying weight. That one will land you up in jail without a registration. 😲

I don't think you can :( I WISH you could, but the A320 has been out of stock everywhere for a long time. You could try getting on RCgroups, and check the classifieds.

I'm thinking of using the Multi-Purpose Rx Brick from my F-16 UMX...then I'll have a tailevon setup, plus a physical rudder....but I gotta figure out how to handle the brushless motor output. I want to make this plane have full three axis control, rather than the XK Pseudo "control"....which I can only liken to an old left, right, forward RC car, where you didn't have control of how much to turn, only to turn 100% left or right...only you're flying!!!

They're plug and fly, so you have to put them together, so check out the playlists I've made if you decide to get into them. You'll also need a Radio, Batteries, Chargers etc... it's a lot more involved, but WAY better experience!

Sure, Banggood is not the fastest all the time, but that's who I'd recommend for this item. Some parts of the world are not as fast.

yes, I'm glad to be doing these RC videos. That's what I'd be doing if we weren't building a house... soon, VERY soon, it will be done.
In small models of big planes, slower flight always looks more realistic and ‘to scale’ , to MY eye, at least. In a design where so much of the control depends on differential thrust, I wonder if half throttle would offer more control because you would be able to firewall one and chop the other? Maximize the ‘delta’ (Д), don’t you know... LOL ... I remember back when I despaired that no aircraft would ever match the sheer grace of the 707 ... then the A-340 debuts.... never mind ... One more thing - have you seen the giant scale helium assisted RC planes?
Talk about realistic ‘scale speed’ ... so COOL! (Some assembly required; abandoned blimp hangar not included)

The elevator? Should, as far as I remember. Just the elevator and differential thrust, but no rudder.

Hello After two positions the control pilot stopped working. Does not detect transport. After switching on the LED is off. Led only lights up as long as I keep the button turned on.
Have you tried to make sure the lipo is fully charged? That's where I'd start. If the Lipo is LOW, it may not bind. Can you try another lipo???

Usually. They do change chargers from time to time, but that's the way MOST of these XK chargers work.
I wonder if one could remove the electronics and install an AS3X receiver and servos from a Horizon Hobby Park Zone plane like the P51 and give this bird true ailerons, rudder and elevator and maybe even flaps. Maybe get 2-4 ducted fans from Horizon Hobby replacements for their micro ducted fan planes such as the MiG15... I’m sure it would be expensive but it would be totally awesome.

Brian Phillips take the engines off the A10 Thunderbolt and that’d probably work perfect.
I had considered this too, but don't have the heart to buy a new UMX, then just kill it for NOT being an Airbus A380...but if only I knew someone with a crashed one....hummmmmm
Brian Phillips the EDF units are $15 each and the A10 AS3X controller has duel speed controllers for $65. For servos just takem off other planes.

Would a charger for a photo camara with a output of 5V 800 mA work?
More than likely, but it might charge a bit slower than a larger output like 1000mA, for example. It should work just fine.

I don't know of a link to buy only foam...this plane is fairly inexpensive, and I'm pretty sure they don't offer it as a KIT (vs what I reviewed, which is RTF)

It appears to be water transfer. They come off BEAUTIFULLY!!! I will be fixing the windshield, size and location, just like I did on my bigger A380

Whatsthe max battery ud reccomend for the Airbus A380 XK?
Whatever size you can squeeze in there. It's better with a heavier pack, in my experience. I was using up to 700mAh packs, if I recall...but they have to be long and slender.

I said the elevator control authority "leaves a lot to be desired", meaning it's not great, not that it's not there... This plane flies, no doubt, but it's not good flying stock (which I will fix). It's still VERY cool, and very fun...but not "Easy" to fly, and it's certainly not easy to control. I think to an experienced RC flier, it might seem "okay", which it is, but to a newbie, it'd be in a tree ;)

When you check both battery in the transmitter and then battery in the radio. Remember, these things are goofy...you gotta power up the Plane FIRST, then the Transmitter - this is not typical for virtually any other RC aircraft.

How long will it take to charge?
I don't know, 30 minutes???? IT depends on how low you run them too, and I generally don't use the stock chargers, except for unboxing... I have better chargers, and I try to use them, so I can better control the rate of charge.
