Are you happy SSD prices for PS5 are finally getting lower?
I just got a ps5 for my son yesterday, and now there isn’t anymore storage left 😅
Absolutely I think I'm getting the Corsair 2TB
I got my PS5 on the day of my birthday
Crucial P3 Plus 1TB only costs $61.99. It's not the fastest, but works well with the PS5 enough. As you said you probably won't notice any difference when using. I bought the 2TB version which is faster.

Nextorage was created by Sony so they can make SSDs for PS5. In 2022, they sold it to Phison Electronics who makes controllers for NAND flash memory chips that are in so many name-brand SSDs. They are legit
What's their fail rate? Using a PC with 3 nvme in it I've had 2 fail over time and need to be replaced and for me they were both the cheaper sticks.
@Syrup Sweater The SSD model shown in the video is TLC with SLC caching and has DRAM, so it's the best you're gonna get. Cheaper drives will use QLC and exclude DRAM and will not last as long. If you want longevity, look for TLC and DRAM. They will be much faster as well

After watching one of your old vids on that 2 terra bit WD black i picked on up on a sale like 120$ its worked awesome. You give us so much great info TY.
Thanks John! Got my M.2 this morning and installed it already.
I got one of these at this price back in December for the PS5 I was finally able to buy. I've been using mine for a few months now with no problems. At 85.00 bucks it's a great deal for 1 TB of additional memory. Easy install luckily. I had never done this before and it went incredibly smooth. Finished in a couple of minutes. If you need one and can get one , I say go for it. I think you'll like it. Got mine on Amazon. Also bought an external 4 TB drive for use with my massive PS4 game library that I'm playing on the PS5 now. It was also about 80.00 bucks. It's an Avolusion and so far it's working great as well. Fingers crossed that they last for a long time. ✌️Great vid. Nice heads up for those that may need it.

It's cool, pun intended. PS5 is very complicated and full of misleading features (faster load times mean by half at most, not lightning fast/near instant, and the ps1 games have save states/rewind at the cost of ps3 manuals/prices though it does transfer for legend of dragoon or wild arms 1 and 2), so it helps to be sorted out rather than learn the hard way that those haptics/triggers don't work is because microphone isn't set to auto mute upon startup. And even then it's primarily random bumps (I felt it more in an RE4 remake cutscene where the other guy is thrown against the wall than when I parry him with my knife) and lock-ons for the triggers.
It's nice that SDD is cheaper than buying a competitor system nowadays.
😂
It's probably a non-issue, but I do kind of wish the heatsink were just a tad smaller to allow more room for airflow around it. The heatsink basically takes up the entirety of the room underneath the SSD plate, not leaving much room for airflow.
I would probably recommend going in & blowing out the dust around the heatsink every once in a while just to be safe, like at least maybe once a year or so. It can definitely build up in there over time & there isn't a lot of room in there as it is.
It does run on negative pressure to make up for the airflow issue. Still you make a valid point
Man thanks!! Went right to Amazon and ordered it!! Looks like it takes less than ten minutes to install!! This is exactly what I've been looking for

Another good option for $89 with Heatsink Corsair Pro NVME Pcie Gen 4 M.2 1TB . I had two PS-5 that needed upgraded so I had to shop around . The Corsair when tested by our PS-5 console resulted in 6,500 Mb/s exceeding PlayStation's minimum requirement.
Gonna have to check this out, I’ve got a 4T external HDD from Seagate that I bought for like $30 at Walmart, for some reason they slapped a sale sticker on it and it was the only one they had. I’ve just been using it for both my PS4, and when I upgraded to the PS5, it works like a charm.

They've either gone up in price recently or you missed a lot of cheaper options. To buy it from Amazon Canada it's $205 while other like the WD black 1TB or Corsair 1 TB can be had for much cheaper. Both with heat sinks and showing similar performance.
While it's normal for prices in Canada to be higher, the price difference on the WD and Corsair are only slightly more to account for the exchange rate while the Nextorage is over double the price.

SSD quality isn't just about read/write speeds vs price. Working temperature and maximum read/write cycles determine an SSD's life expectancy, and are therefor equally important.
Yeah, the Seagate Firecuda 530 has better sustained performance than this drive and double the lifespan.
I would worry more about that stuff more on a PC where it really matters than lol a PS5.

I have the 1TB Nextorage SSD in my PS5 and the performance has been phenomenal. I've also tested the thermals and have found that this SSD runs way cooler than the Samsung 980 pro & the WD SN850X. I tested my Nextorage 1TB SSD in my PS5 side by side with my wifes 1TB Samsung 980 pro SSD in her PS5 & the Nextorage was slightly faster and noticeably cooler. Great video! Those who have done their research already know about this little gem of a SSD. It is definitely one of the best bangs for the buck on the market!
Performance is excellent & it's made by a subsidy of Sony, so the quality is there. It has been extensively tested by many professional reviewers & the results are great!
Ya simply can't go wrong with this one so there's really no reason to look any further. Just buy it & forget about it! There's a 2TB option as well if ya need it.

What about the games you're already have? How do you transfer
Pulled the trigger. $55 on Amazon. However, reading reviews, this one has the most issue of drive dying in few months or more. That said, all the top 3-4 ps5 ssds have issues with drive dying or more. This one just has the most. And consistently the same issue. Fingers crossed
If I didn't already have the WD Black SN850 2 TB, I would have already bought this. It might be the best deal in storage right now. Still though, I tend to stick with WD more so for their reliability. I simply know that whatever drive I buy from them is going is last for years.
I have the 1TB version of the WD Black, and it's amazing but I've been kicking myself for not getting the 2TB basically since I installed it, lol.
This is more expensive than the wd black. I just paid £88 for 1tb sn850x this is £123

That 2gb and 4gb dram cache in the 2tb and 4tb capacity makes a 1tb capacity a no go area for me. You'll be shocked the level of improvements dram cache brings to the ps5 in general.

Got a ps5 for my son yesterday and now the system storage is already full lol it’d be nice if they already came with decent storages instead of like 600gb
Heya! Quick question/somewhat of a tip, have you had a ps4 in the past or are there some ps4 games downloaded? If so, I highly recommend looking into an external hard drive for your ps5. You can't install ps5 games onto the external hard drive sadly, but in case you have a big ps4 library or you happen to install more ps4 games than ps5 games, having this external hard drive is very, very, VERY helpful!

@@Stardust51 as a lover of gaming but a total cave man in regards to understanding too much about tech and how it works or how reliable it is, I've read some reviews claiming that this particular ssd has had loads of issues with regards to stopping working and crashing games etc, I understand that nothing is perfect, and issues can happen even at high end products with silly price tags, in your opinion, would you say that the few reviews I have read are isolated incidents not to be worried about too much or would you say if you have the extra money buy branded? I realise asking this may sound silly as you've just said about Sony setting up this company to make the ssd in the first place hence my curiosity as to whether its worth the risk, if there is indeed a risk (or bigger risk than say a better known brand) thanks in advance and apologies for the long reply and questions.

I got the WD 2 terabyte model. I'm really happy. I can have most of my PS5 games installed instead of most of them on the shelf. Till I want to play them again and I have to wait for them to be installed again.
Fantastic, thanks for checking
Be cautious when installing an m.2 storage expansion in the ps5! The way the expansion slot completely covers your ssd, not allowing for sufficient cooling, has been significantly shorting their life spans. My Firecuda 530 only lasted 8 months before dying. It just gets too damn hot in there!
Would you think not covering it would help?
@Wakane Yes, leaving the cover off would definitely help with lowering the temp a few degrees. The only thing thing about that is the placement of the slot itself is bad cause it's right near the intake fan. So if you leave the cover off, you now risk dust build up in the expansion slot. I guess if you leave the cover off, just make sure to clean dust out every few days.
Leaving the cover off would be a disaster. The PS5 uses a negative pressure cooling design of which the cover for the expansion bay is an important component. Which is why Sony stresses using both a heatsink and the bay cover. There is more than just the SSD being cooled in the PS5 and all of the components work together to achieve this. @@neoinuyashafight

@@lordspalse0062 I don't think your nuts I completely understand. Funnily in the UK this SSD is actually more expensive than the recommended Western Digital one. £108.78 vs £94.98 and both come with the heatsink.
I am a bit dubious of buying what is probably some random Chinese brand though, just to save money. For instance as good as £130 sounds for a 2tb drive with heatsink, I have never heard of Addlink, so not sure I would risk it. The Western Digital has dropped in price significantly recently, and is only £30 or so more. When you are on a budget, taking a risk with an unknown brand on something these prices I just think its better to save up a lil more and go with the more recognised brands with great feedback.
Random Chinese brand? Nextorage was a division of Sony begun in about 2018 to make an SSD for the then under development PS5. Sony later decided not to manufacture their own SSDs and sold the division to Phison the company responsible for the PS50-E18 controller chip used in every high end "recognized" SSD made. This SSD was designed by Sony engineers specifically for the PS5, these engineers remained on board when Phison bought the division.
