@@1st_track_dents hey just called me on the phone: they told me that the paint has been removed, literally "the paint is left in his hand". @@stefanonovelli9810 That's a shame, maybe the panel has been painted before, maybe that's why the paint came off. Without seeing it I can't really comment. Hopefully the repair will still come out ok. Thanks again for your kind words, I really appreciate it. 👍

Nice to have you back. I watched a PDR guy trying to repair a dent in a similar position that some one else had tried to fix. It wasn't going well. I suggested they put a GB sticker over it. They thought it wouldn't be a bad idea. You can have that tip for free. Love the content and great video production.

Nice work ! As always. I have 2 small acorn dings on my hood, 3 small acorn dings on my roof, and 1 door ding on each door from neighbors. I've watched a lot of PDR videos especially from your channel and it makes me want to buy myself a kit to give it a try. My car is a Subaru Forester 2017 and am very hesitant to do it. Too bad all the dings are from nature and knuckleheads.
Thanks Aaron, yes I always feel more comfortable with pushing as it gives you more control and there is less risk of damaging the paint, although there are some amazing sticky glues on the market, but I don't think any of them would have been strong enough to touch this dent 👍
Only 4 minutes in, but I think you definitely made the right choice. I’d definitely want to access the dent even if I started with a little glue pull first. A couple of aggressive or misplaced taps on the crown or around the body line and it won’t be as clean without a sharp tip picking at them. Basically to glue pull that dent and finish it, it would take too much time being so careful with every tap. Might as well at least find a way to slide something to it.
Totally agree, It was quite tight to push up so glue pulling would have really struggled. Glue can be great, but yes it can take so long to do. I've spent an hour before trying to pull a dent with glue making slow progress, only then to find out that I did have access behind after all, then I push it up in about 5 minutes!
Another lovely, clean job fella...! Hoping to embark on a new career in PDR myself, when I retire from the fire service! Excellent explanation of your train of thought with regards to the methods you chose to use.

Maybe you can give us a tutorial on how to use the "pull" method using glue and what types of dents using the "Pull" method you'd recommend/not recommend.
I imagine my story is rather common. New vehicle that gets its first minor dent. Someone mentions PDR as a less expensive method for a resolve so you search the subject. Before you know it your ordering basic PDR tools and excited to scratch that DIY itch. The dent in this videos is exactly what I have to work with other than different make / model of vehicle. Between PDR tools , body panel bought to practice on and hours attending the University of UA-cam ... I could have paid to have a professional perform the repair many times over for less out of pocket. I curse that DIY Virus that causes this behavior but thank goodness for videos like this to help the learning process. Your efforts are appreciated.... Any chance you will be making a "The fun of cleaning up DIY repair attempts performed by customers" ??
Thanks Gil, yes sometimes it's just quicker to stick a bar behind as glue puling can be a messy affair at the best of times! Great to hear from a tech on the other side of the world, I hope you're busy 😎
Yes, I made a bit more effort on this one to show you what was going on on the underside, this was some of the best access I have had for a while, really makes the dent easier to manipulate, all the best 👍
I've got dents on my roof where a roof rack was used is it possible to get them removed and how would you suggest it was done cheers great video again buddy Rob
great result! Have you had any experience working on mk5 generation of Jetta? I have 3 dents on driver's side rear quarter panel and wonder if it's possible to access behind the panel from somewhere. I've given some pulls but I could really use some push too.
Great work Jake. You are a master. Quick question - are there any official or unofficial sources/databases to find out how the internal access might look for each model - or are you just reliant on personal experience and/or just stripping the panel trims and seeing what you find?
Just personal experience really, most manufacturers use the same systems on most of their models, so you can kind of guess how newer models come apart:-)
Hope you reply. Watch the first video I found of yours. You worked on several dented and types of debts on a passenger rear door of a silver car. My dent is similar to the smallest dent you fix on that door opposite the door handle on the front passenger door. I always drop my hood closed at a certain height. This time I pushed down on it creating a smooth oval like dent about 1.5 or so. Opposite of the center raised body line. Dent does not make contact with that line. So dent wizard will do the job. At same time may get them to work on extremely hard to see create on a passenger rear door hit by another door. I show the car, I am very particular. So I cover up certain areas of my car where mechanics etc may handle. I will remove interior panels and or other parts if easier then covering them up with tape etc. All this gives me peace of mind other things don't get damaged while work on other issues are getting done. Trust me it has paid off. Taking a car in to get a repair and it coming out with other scuffs, scraps, Mark's etc sucks. What I do usually makes there work easier also. So with this door very mild crease I know the SUPER EASY to mark up all hard plastic interior panel has to come off. Thus do i leave window up or down for dent wizard to work on that door. Because they won't have the interior panel. It will be safe at my home. Vehicle 2017-2020 Chevy Sonic hatchback. Ps: crease is about same location that smallest dent was on the silver car you worked on passenger rear door.
Sounds like you are the ideal customer when you say that you prepare the car in advance for having work carried out on it, removing trim panels etc. I hope Dent wizard do a great job for you, there are some great PDR techs around these days and it's great if you can find one who really takes pride in their work. I wish you all the best, regards, Jake
Great to see the dent disappear, my problem is astra k off side wheel arch it appears to be double skinned so how can this dent be done it’s quite a sharp dent
Hi Adrian, yes dents in the rear arch are always a problem as most cars except for a few are all double skinned here. So the only real option is glue pulling although if the dent is too sharp, this approach may not work. The other option is to get a thin bar from inside the boot/trunk, I would also strip out the wing liner/stoneguard as sometimes you can get lucky and find a factory hole for tool access. Failing that it may need to be repaired and painted. PDR is great but we still can't guarantee that every dent can be removed. If we can't get behind it then there is not much else we can do. Good Luck 👍
@@1st_track_dents thanks for your reply, I will look inside the boot for access never thought of that thanks again , it’s really annoying it was an old man who done it parked next to me I had reversed into space out the way he came next to me in a virtual empty car park when I saw him do it I did not notice ding it was when I washed car to my hotter there it was .
@@adriancarter825 Sorry to hear that, yes I don't know why people park next to another car in an empty car park? I have this conversation nearly every day with customers, I think people like to align their car next to another as they can't see the parking bay lines? Nearly all of my day to day work are dents caused in car parks so you are not alone. Yes the boot may be your only option for access. 👍
Fantastic clean repair as normal, Love the explanation and showing tools choice, Can you advise where you get the plastic bullet tip for pushing please, I have not been able to get them Thank you
Thanks Andy, the plastic bullet tip I use is from my Edgy tools knockdown. In the UK TDN and PDR Pro Tools have a selection of quite a few tips including plastic bullet tips here: www.pdrprotools.co.uk/screw-tips-threads-c-28.html tdntools.com/collections/tips
love watching you make these dents disappear , but always wonder .... how much does it cost for your time and expertise , any chance of now and again letting us know what it costs ? cheers , jim
Love your videos man, keep up the good work. I have a question I popped a dent out using the hot glue method, but I notice popping the dent out, it has left bubble bumps on surface & why does the dent easily goes back in like how it was, when I apply small pressure on it ?
Hi, this could be due to a few reasons, maybe there is still glue residue left on the panel or maybe it has had a poor paint job previously and the heat from the glue has damaged the poor paint finish. If the dent just pops back in then, either you need to release the crowns around it or the metal is stretched. 👍
The 24 inch double bend tool I use all the time from Ultra is here: www.ultradenttools.com/products/st3802-24-x-7-16-screwtip-dbl-bend-90?_pos=3&_sid=d6dbd8607&_ss=r The A44 tip set that accompanies the 24 inch double bend tool: www.ultradenttools.com/products/a44-7-16-6-pc-tip-set-and-tip-holder?_pos=1&_sid=5430179c2&_ss=r
So I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee with a dent on the body line. The place I took it to said it would cost about $1000.00. Then mentioned it’s possible that removing the dent could cause the pain to chip. What do you think on a fair young vehicle? To add my dent is the same size as the one shown in the video, except it’s on the door.
Trabalho profissional, ótimo forma de explicação, sei que seria pedir muito, mas poderia ter legendas em português, já tem admiradores do seu trabalho aqui no Brasil!
Hi Jake, you show that you do remove a fair amount of trims during your daily work, Once use clips , do you carry a stash of clips around with you or do you never ever break them ?
Yes I carry spares, but it's always the same cars that things break on! Never have a problem with BMW's though, they are designed to come apart nicely 👍
*The damn Silver paint made it harder to see. Can you see about getting an anti-glare lens cover or some kind of polarized/ing lens filter.....(sorry so demanding.)*
Yes, working on silver or white cars is my worst nightmare, the glare is so bad on the camera screen that I can't always see what I'm doing. Trust me I had to color grade this video heavily just to take off the glare from the sun in most of the shots. Darker colours on cloudy days make the best videos, or if you are lucky enough to have a workshop 😎
Thanks Joe, the 24 inch double bend tool I use all the time from Ultra is here, this is a great all rounder bar: www.ultradenttools.com/products/st3802-24-x-7-16-screwtip-dbl-bend-90?_pos=3&_sid=d6dbd8607&_ss=r The A44 tip set that accompanies the 24 inch double bend tool: www.ultradenttools.com/products/a44-7-16-6-pc-tip-set-and-tip-holder?_pos=1&_sid=5430179c2&_ss=r Hope that helps 👍

@@1st_track_dents thanks again I am now subscribed I find dent removal very interesting
@@adriancarter825 Thanks Adrian, great to have you onboard! 👍
Great job and great video. How much does a repair like that generally cost?
Fantastic clean repair as normal,
Love the explanation and showing tools choice,
Can you advise where you get the plastic bullet tip for pushing please, I have not been able to get them
Thank you
Thanks Andy, the plastic bullet tip I use is from my Edgy tools knockdown. In the UK TDN and PDR Pro Tools have a selection of quite a few tips including plastic bullet tips here: www.pdrprotools.co.uk/screw-tips-threads-c-28.html

You're back at work! 🙂
im american but this guy is so good guys!
love watching you make these dents disappear , but always wonder .... how much does it cost for your time and expertise , any chance of now and again letting us know what it costs ? cheers , jim
Cracking work. 👏
Wow....your videos are so interesting. ..what is the set call? The one with the bars and the tips...I live in Los Angeles I will try to get them

Great fun to watch
You Sir are a Master
So I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee with a dent on the body line. The place I took it to said it would cost about $1000.00. Then mentioned it’s possible that removing the dent could cause the pain to chip. What do you think on a fair young vehicle? To add my dent is the same size as the one shown in the video, except it’s on the door.
sharp cross bodyline first choice as you.you are win.glue pull get risk sometime.
Thank you my friend you're the best 😊
Great work!
You said that it was 30 degrees outside. So I'm curious as to why you are wearing gloves in that heat?
These are light fabric, breathable gloves so my grubby hands will always stay cool. 😂
I always wearing gloves, i dont like to work without. Its can hurt my gentle hands xD
Sheet steel can have a sharp edge to it so often a good idea wearing gloves anyway.
‘microlow’ heh. love the terminology
Hello! I would like to know where you bought your dent bars and tips from (for example a site where I can find them as I live abroad). Thank you!
Nice work😎
Thanks! 👍
Great video Jake, you are an amazing pdr tech.
What bar and screw on tips do you use? Do you have a link?
Thanks Joe, the 24 inch double bend tool I use all the time from Ultra is here, this is a great all rounder bar:

@@1st_track_dents thanks for that Jake, appreciate it mate👍
Do you do dents that have come from the inside out or pushed in from the front then buckled the fender outward with no paint damage.
Yes did one today in fact on a fender which had a huge buckle coming outwards in the middle caused by a slow moving collision at the front. You can check out this video of mine with a high spot coming outwards, this will show you my method of how I remove a high spot
