TWO. you know how much the most expensive superstore armor is worth? $1.99... and you know what the best part is? ... you can earn it in game. you dont have to spend a dime past the initial purchase of the game. exactly as all things should be. you paid for the whole experience so you should be getting the whole experience. and helldivers 2 does that so well.
I have a possibly insane take: People are realizing that they're tired of competitive play. As with Palworld with tiredness towards Pokemon games, people are tired of competitiveness. We've had the era of every game needing a hardcore competitive scene and aggressive PvP. Meta was always talked about and can be subject to constant controversy with buff and nerf updates. It's always the need to one up someone else. And as time goes, you just get tired. People forgot to enjoy the very games they were meant to have fun with because they either get angry at the person owning them or sweat tends to be mentally and physically draining. I've seen it with The Finals, MW3 and even the recent Halo Infinite seasons. They spike for a day or two only for it to slowly become irrelevant the next day. Recent singleplayer games have sparked back the desire to just play a game at your own pace and however you want it played, and with Co-op games, it just brings back the fun of actually doing things together, not against one another. The amount of comaraderie in the community is astounding. While there are some bad apples, the community has always been wanting to band together against Termanids and Automatons and we laugh and enjoy every the moment, even if it's a mission loss. In a way, nature is healing. We're finally going back to the days when we all bought video games because we want to enjoy them and not because we have something to prove for something so insignificant as competitive status.
@@Soup_Time346in a way, I did mean it as a joke considering how people would just start bandwagoning on "you're just shit at PvP lol git gud." but at this point, I can't tell when someone's legitimately wanting PvP in games like Helldivers 2 or not. Quite frankly, I don't judge whatever people enjoy, but jeez man, not everything needs a PvP/Competitive scene.
@spartan8ter yeah I get that, I wish we could go back where games were just there to have fun and not hang microtransactions or some stupid meta loadout over your head
@@Soup_Time346Well, as much as we want to, Helldivers 2/Palworld/Lethal Company are the closest ones we'll get for awhile. Unless another mad lad makes another gem
My wife of 15 years has BPD and finally freaked out to the point I had to leave her to keep our 3 sons safe from her bs. Got my 11 and 13 year old copies of HD2 along with myself. It has been a great game to teach by boys teamwork and it has helped us work together in the real world as well.
dude, a "word of mouth" is the most powerful and effective advertisment in history of humankind. it can send Hell diver 2 to this popularity. and it can flop any Media it had bad word of mouth as well.
Totally, I only got the game cause I asked my friends who had it if it was any good, they firmly recommended it and I'm glad I got it. Trust word of mouth from someone with the same tastes as me, more than reviews or such
I was hooked on it, but what killed it for me was the grind for Po8 that felt like a second job. And the fact that they will reset all upgrades and production facilities every season undermines the hard work you put it, and you then have to regain those manufacturers and upgrades. A lot of people made the argument that you can just get your upgrades back quickly from the Po8 you have left over, but what they fail to realize is that a lot of us don't stick to just one game. We all split our time into different games, which means we can't generate enough Po8 to get all the upgrades. If we couldn't even get all the upgrades, what makes them think we can regain our cheaper upgrades quickly? It's like starting a new save mode in regards to the smuggling aspect if the game
I think a big part of it is that a lot of people (men especially) feel like they lack a meaning or cause, when daily life is just such a grind just to survive. This finally gave us something to fight for
Facts we look forward to spreading democracy after a long days work. I also think it’ll translate well into more patriotic Americans anyways sorry what are politics; we must liberate Draupnir from automaton control
It's nice to be part of something, the whole roleplay war HD2 has going on where the enemies are literally being controlled by a game master of sorts makes you feel like you're actually helping a larger cause.
Another thing working for it is that's it's basically an extremely polished version of Earth Defense Force, at least on some levels. EDF has a pretty big cult following and I'm sure a lot of people were convinced by that argument too. Anyways, it's a refreshing take, not only because it's correct, but also because gamers tend to forget about luck, and will always try to tell you that "you just have to make a good game, then people will come".
@AsadAnjum it might make you angry, but I literally pulled out my gaming laptop that I hadn't touched in almost a year because I wanted to play this game, and I own an Xbox. 🤷♂️ they made a good game its a kind I've wanted to play. I've played D2 since D1 and I guarantee you I'd be playing it regardless of what TFS looked like right now.
Helldivers 2 is the most intense and stressful game at times... And then you jump into Pelican-1 and all your worries disappear, a final breath of relief as the horde on the ground fades into specs.
Malevelon Creek is what Arrrowhead want Helldivers 2 games gonna be it left such a big impression to people who drop into that planet at launch and unprepared against Automaton that pepple dubbed it as "Space Vietnam" and a few days ago the planet have been lost and so many people make the lore and mourn the lost of Helldivers who tried to protect it and promise that they will spread democracy back stronger than ever in the future
Funny thing is, people are still trying to fight it and actually started making a push at one point. It’s why I love this game it’s not static and actually feels like how a war game like battlefield should’ve done it
@@connorroot5728I especially love that a lot of the divers that keep pushing into the creek have mostly adopted guerilla warfare tactics. I see a lot more stealth being used against the bots than the bugs.
Luck plays such a big factor for anyone and anything becoming successful. 2 people just as competent as each other can end up in wildly different positions because one of them caught a break earlier, or was in an environment that allowed for their competence to shine. Helldivers is a very competent game, but there are so many other competent games out there, helldivers just found the sweet spot at launch.
The game reminds me of the days I used to spend playing Lost Planet 2. The 3rd person, sci-fi, bug killing and over the top feel of Helldivers 2 just brings back a lot of Nostalgia.
What really surprises me is that the game is still solid playing solo. I mean, its more gear dependent, harder, and less efficient but I still have a lot of fun playing by myself.
I honestly find myself enjoying solo a little bit more than multiplayer. I can move at my own pace and I don’t have to worry about a teammate dying or them killing me lol
Good point. I have dropped a lot of online games because at some point you cannot progress without playing in a team. With HD2, there are a number of missions I can complete solo, even on harder difficulties.
when the CEO goes onto saying we love the support but wait to buy our game til we can get it fully operational for all the players. That is the kinda people I want to see in ALL industry TBH. Omega Chad sht right there.
Can I say that’s the most transparent tweet I’ve seen from a ceo. Like they say point blank as ceo they love to have you spend the cash, but would be sad for someone to pull the trigger on the game and be forced to wait and not play. That’s surprisingly wholesome in my opinion
One of my favorite things about helldivers is the global galaxy map, that constantly updates on how far we are liberationg it. It really makes you feel like you are making a diffirence when playing. When i woke up this morning and was ready to leave for work, i thought, i wonder how the map is doing? It is very rare that i have a thought about a game in the morning cause standart routine doesnt need thinking.
Cool video!! I enjoyed :) one thing i really like about this game is that it has brought some goofy moments to gameplay that is traditionally pretty gritty and serious on operatordrewskie's videos. The game feels like a playful cartoony game while still appearing more gritty and serious, and that's a great place to be!
Yeah I think the inherent comedy in the game is a big plus, it's the kind of stuff that makes it really special while also encouraging streamers to play it more.
I disagree with luck being the decisive factor here. They just made a unique game that stands out in a sea of trend chasing games that refuse to try something new. They also made it cost 40 bucks at a time where the industry pushes for 70+ $ games.
No bs, just good game design choices. No greedy corporate decisions to give you a bitter stain in your mouth. It had the whole world rooting for it. The kind of hype and hopeful catharcy that was not mirrored in any other videogame released since halo3. No videogame had brought so much people together like this. Playing helldivers 2 wasn't just the most fun i had in a while. It made me feel like part of something much larger. The simple act of making community cooperation necessary for the game just urks of unity and brotherhood. This longing for something to be part of is a primordial desire for us as a social creature. Hitting this button was gold for the studio behind this game. Thats not luck.
Just make a challenging coop game with friendly fire and bombastic moments, that's what's timelessly enjoyable. Left 4 Dead has this. Deep Rock Galactic has this. Lethal Company has this. Payday had this. Hell, even Earth Defense Force, a game adjacent to helldivers 2, had this.
Still a lot more to it though. First game you brought up is Left 4 Dead, but Back 4 Blood follows a lot of the same formula and people weren't super fond of that one. Also "bombastic moments" have to feel organic to work in this style of game and that's a hard thing to achieve
@@AsadAnjum Back 4 Blood messed with the elegant simplicity of Left 4 Dead's gameplay loop, lacked a lot of the under the hood polish, modding support, survivors that were quotable and people liked, and introduced a card system that was generally implemented in a way that people didn't like, also the special infected were not well designed, many reviews on the game touch upon this, among other things that if I listed here would make this comment way too long. Back 4 Blood's failure is formed from a compounding list of small to big things that all add up to a generally not enjoyable experience, there's a video by a channel called CrowbCat on it that only scratches the surface of the problems with the game. I get what you're trying to say however: That my comment is glossing over a lot of context and is ultimately reductive, you're right. I should have given it proper elaboration. That being said, the idea of the bombastic moments being organic was kind of assumed.
When the CEO said to save your money, and wait for the servers to provide players with a better experience, thats what made me decide to pull a gatling sentry to blow some holes in my wallet. Its a breath of fresh air, to put it lightly. I feel respected, and not pressured to pay anymore than the $40
First rule of Business 101: A happy customer will tell 2 friends, and an unhappy customer will tell 10 friends. Word of mouth is THE single best marketing campaign! Plus, it wasn't about fun or luck, it was about simplicity! The game's concept is SIMPLE! Go here.. shoot aliens, blow things up, extract! Democracy needs no propaganda! No intricate cut scenes taking away from the action. Nothing to pull you back and be like "can we please just stop the talking!?!?" Plus, the creators didn't monetize the game. Sure, they have it where you CAN buy stuff and advance with real currency, but you don't HAVE to. Everything in the game can be gotten IN THE GAME! Lastly, it's so successful right now because people ae fed up with the money grabbing garbage that AAA companies are releasing. To me, seeing the CEO of the company say "Hey.. While I would love your money, I'd rather you wait till we fix the problems with our servers not being able to handle the load we didn't expect!" means a TON of respect for that CEO and that company! I'm not much for this kind of game but that comment alone is enough to make me buy the game just for the sake of supporting the company (even though i'd probably only log like 3 hours of gameplay on it).
Nah, you're wrong, it's getting the geriatric gamers because it's not an mtx store with a game tacked on, it respects your time, and doesn't require you to spend money after purchase. We were there when horse armor was invented, and we're the same people that said "oh hell nah" to that. Older gamers be hanging out in discords playing all kinds of niche indie stuff, but this one is co-op so they can play together, and has broad enough appeal without falling into the trap of trying to make a game for everyone.
I bought it the day the CEO requested to hold off on buying it and I have not had one error. Hats off to the development team for implementing patches so quickly.
I bought it a few days after. I already planned to get it when I heard of it, but after that and all the memes, seeing how the community is and the sheer intense gameplay I was infatuated.
@@connerhinds7254 right! The gameplay looked bonkers, and I absolutely love satire such as storm ship troopers. I just kind of felt like a dic k for buying it and then seeing the message not to buy it 🤣 but I had no problems yet... I'm quite certain my first mission gave me PTSD as my head rolled off and it said mission complete.... I was beyond a satisfied customer
i will say the chaos in Helldivers 2 is just so fun and the organic f ups are hilarious i had a bug hit a Hellbomb and kill me and my squad of friends we blamed joel so much
@@hehitmeinthekneegur1551 Never said that. I didn’t even preorder, but got the Super Citizen after launch. I chose to keep it instead of refunding it because I found the game more than earned my extra dollars. Now, if it were CoD, I’d only grab preorder because my father enjoys that game series(and that is something I’ve bought for him every couple of years or so.) Anything else might as well not exist for me to care about it.
@@hehitmeinthekneegur1551 I only pre-order when I'm truly confident it's a game I will want to play and enjoy day one and wait within the last few of weeks before release to assure that (those previews before HD2 released solidified my confidence too). Then there's the game having bonus content you're getting more value out of however minor or major it is and since I have a digital PS5 pre-downloads are convenient so I don't have to buy a game then wait x amount of time to play it even when it's already available no matter how good my dl speed is. There are also other cases for incentive like Hi-Fi Rush on PS5 which has a 10% discount for PS+ members when pre-ordering and since that's a game that's relatively cheap, already know I like (played it via game pass trial) and anticipate the PS5 version being the best play on console (PC adding Dualsense support is the only reason I can't say best place to play in general) there's no reason why *I* wouldn't think that benefits me. Now in the case of people pre-ordering several months before release (especially if it's physical) I don't quite get; especially due to potential shipping issues. There are multiple factors when it comes to this and I haven't been burned yet.
@@hehitmeinthekneegur1551 Idk about anyone else but there are multiple factors that I consider. These include waiting a few weeks before release to make sure I can play it day one (the previews that dropped for HD2 in particular only solidified my confidence anyway), what extra content I'm getting out of it no matter how minor and having a pre-download option (as I'm digital only this gen) so even when the game is already available I don't have to wait x amount of time to play as it'll be sitting there waiting for me on release day. There are even games that have discounts as a pre-order incentive on PlayStation (PS+ members only though iirc) and HFR is the latest example of this with a 10% discount. Now I will say that pre-orders several months before release I don't quite get as it's much harder to assume you'll have free time to play a game day one compared to weeks or days in advance from release. This is especially true for physical copies due to potential shipping issues from the distributor.
I think the one best thing that is replicable for the games' success is their marketing. Getting rid of the cold or fake corporate messaging and instead presenting the game as is, with a narrative twist here and there, does wonders. Sensible monetization (and in the case of the live-service like elements, they are balanced by the cooperative interaction that wouldn't be possible without stable funding) sounds pretty good to many players as well. Although I can definitely see studios jumping on the bandwagon and saturating the social media space with their "in-character" marketing that it could become void within a few years. The key is to be real, not to use the character-marketing to hide your blunders, but to spice your messaging with it. Take note of how Arrowhead handled that patch controversy over the one dev who let loose - there wasn't any sugarcoating it with the Helldivers narrative cause it was serious.
I've never bought a "battlepass" before in any game. I bought one for helldivers. Mainly because the warbond (battlepass) doesn't expire and isn't seasonal. I can come back and buy stuff with earned currency later
While a little luck may have been a factor, I think chalking any sizable portion of this games success to luck us a disservice to your viewers. The Devs of this game have experience in the armed services, so they understand military equipment and more over they understand thir player base. They fully get that we as players are tired of the AAA motto of give less and ask for more. They get that gamers just want a good fum time and so far seem to not he inclined to shit on that good faith they earned. Lime the players that were banned for arguing over pride capes and nation capes "no politics, only game." There is no geter cause than super earth. The devs tapped into an, until recently, lost art of making games the old way. $40, and you get a fully finished (or, in this case, mostly finished) game that is fun and engaging. No bull shit micro-transactions. No one pushing an agenda its just a way to unwind. In a way, it sparks a deep sense of nostalgia of a simpler time of gaming when you an your buddies could load into a Halo 3 lobby or even a halo reach ord lobby and just play. The devs found the live service done right formula and game us a masterpiece that doesn't take itself seriously, doesn't try to sell you something and aims to entertain you in a way that focuses around team work and a shared goal. Luck may have had a factor, but the efforts of the devs to just make a good game can not go unstated and the communities word of mouth praise, the memes and story rhe players craft about the game that the devs adopt is all a love letter to a lost art. One where us gamers get our money's worth when we buy a game.
You said something: "Is it possible to recreate this success at a consistent level?" This is the single most asked question by corporate giants who have ruined 99.9% of gaming and brought us to Helldivers. Its also why there is no such thing as nostalgia anymore. True gaming is about fun of the game. About 13 years ago, that idea was lost. Helldivers took the best ideas of gaming's past and a particular set of older movie concepts and gave people some of their imagination back. The lore grows by the hour. Our actions write the story. Just let the project enjoy its success. The unpredictable events, and the development crew, the bugs, make this game awesome. No need to worry about recreating a success that hasnt even peaked yet.
The funny thing is, Helldivers 2 is one of the few live service games out there that; had server problems, and then upgraded the servers I'm looking at you, Epic Games, and Bungie
Literally going into a highschool and discussing daily new tactics and experiences is just something that hasn't happened in forever. love it or not the only ones I can think of are Fortnite, and occasionally minecraft peaks here and there. not only does having such a religious fanbase create such a livid community, even just the little stuff is insanely awesome! As someone who codes in their free time I am biased but the fact the other ships outside the windows are ACTUAL LIVE PLAYERS is just the coolest thing ever! Also the in depth irl timing and the actual fact it shows what difference you made to the overall war (percentage on planets) makes it so rewarding and keeps the community in touch. This isn't even bringing in tons of other obvious factors, but yes, I do agree a large amount of this was. It deserved it.
the great thing also is just the community comedy aspect or perhaps more accurately the community basically all roleplaying, which adds to the fun and feeling of belonging. I feel like a lot of communities in the gaming space don't have that.
I would say yes "luck" for helldivers but also...creativity and thinking of the players. Think of it...most games that has been out is oversaturated with Battle Royale designs, First person shooters, skill base games, horrible story telling, bad game character designs, an money grabs an "Masked fun" games. Most companies doesn't want to be different from one another an bring fresh new creative fun ideas and original ideas to players to bring fun, challenging, story telling games to players. Yes, gaming companies been taking a hit over the last few years since 2020 because of leaks, hackers, an toxic players threatening gaming devs and hackers demanding money from directors and gaming companies. So yes the companies and the community of gamers is in a bad place right now. Will the the relationship between companies and players be fixed, I say with do in time. Do I think it's possible for gaming companies to reach the level of success like helldivers, yes I do but only if video games are beneficial for all around for players the companies an just making games fun again.
Heeeeey. Everybody who thinks that Titanfall 2 is the best FPS game of humanity aren't wrong. They just are able to... speak, read, write, calculate, draw logical conclusions, etc. You know, use their brains beyond "eat-sleep-reproduce" lifecycle
Same thing happened with the Release of Endwalker for Final Fantasy XIV. They didn't have the server-capacity to hold all new players and disabled the possibility to buy the game outright for a time.
To be honest what I think what really made it get so popular isn't just luck because to be honest it was luck but also it played into what people were wanting from a AAA game but weren't receiving. A game that you can play with friends with repayable scenarios that have a atmosphere that people can lose themselves in whether it be fun or goofy. but hey that's just my take on it and my opinion can be completely different from someone else's
I agree on the Warbonds point. They're so well integrated, it shits on every live-service game and it actually makes me want to put money in it just to support the studio.
Honestly, one big reason this game is popular is that it’s not static or rinse and repeat. Almost all games are like that these days and it’s a breath of fresh air
HellDivers2 is very similar to Deep Rock Galactic while one fights for Democracy, the other fights for rock and stone both games fighting aliens and robots. the missions selection is also very similar. I hope Deep Rock Galactic gets a bit more recognition
SES Harbinger of Judgement reporting in, my democracy officer has informed me that there is heresy being committed here. This video does seem very undemocratic to me. i will have to let command know about this. -end transmission
Helldivers 2 has full "200,000 units are ready with a million more well on the way" energy and i love it. we'll show those ruffian -automatons- clankers why they should hippity hoppity right off our property. Malevelon Creek stands!
I also like how it is very interactive and requires user inputs such as the stratagems. you don't just press a button and your ability to press it during intense sessions. It also is casual enough that you aren't stressing how good the other players are although it is important. Lastly, for some reason, it feels like they actually care about their game and vision while communicating effectively with their player base. For example, how they refuse to include PVP in the game and explain it to their player base unlike games like Tarkov.
Just leave it to Indie Games to make games actually fun unlike corporate games that post unfinished games that is $70 for a broken game, buy a $40 DLC, a heavy micro transaction. Pulse pushing a political agenda,Yeah millionaire corporate game is dying.
0 luck with helldivers, u cant find the helldivers experience in any other game it is unique and it respect ur time and money. Helldivers dosent need luck
I think they're just asking people to wait until things are fixed. But there is a game that actually had to do what the title implies: Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker expansion. They had to discontinue all ads that they already paid for, disallow all digital copies to be sold and give 3 weeks of free playtime for those in 20k+ queues on the servers (as well as profusely apologize, take responsibility and offer frequent updates and in-depth analysis of their system structure). It actually broke their legacy login server code and they found multiple errors that they had to fix or rewrite. Which actually fixed a rare client crash for the log-in in the process.
Reason number 1: The first game was fun, but it was a top down dual stick shooter. The transferring of that to a 3rd person shooter greatly increased the game's appeal. Reason number B: It is a AA full on PvE Co-op game (no PvP other than accidental team killing) that has been missing from the gaming marketplace pretty much since the Ps4/Xbox 1 era started. Razón número tres: It has a very fun and engaging play cycle that doesn't take itself too seriously while also not being too childish.
I find it hilarious big companies with large backers like rare and snail games /wildcard are failing so miserably , and a small game company is absolutely blowin them out of the water , take notes rare , snail games and wild card .
the CEO 'please don't buy this game until we have spent time upgrading our server capacity, perhaps we can buy the antarctic to put all the new servers farms we need'
the other thing that makes it different from other games is that once you become level 10 you can keep up with the level 50's assuming you are not a idiot.
Helldivers is a game that released in a time when everything is PvP or is small story based PvE (looking at you Destiny) This is PvE with a HUGE community based story and mission state. It brings players who never played together, together! We have a sense of community and large goal situations that we can all work toward. There's nothing out there like it right now. This is why Helldivers 2 is having the success it is. People are tired of the sweaty PVP community, and want to have fun working toward a common larger world goal.
Fun is the start. The real reason it’s doing so well is that we are ALL on the SAME side (except JOEL) and are working together. There’s no pvp, most people are being friendly and helpful and even if everyone dies and the mission fails, about 90% of the response isn’t “oh no we lost” it’s “we did as much as we could for Super Earth, and we will do it again GET IN THE HELLPOD LOSERS WE’RE GOING LIBERATING!” When was the last time we got a game where people were actually supportive of each other even when we were losing miserably? Seriously, even Destiny people will kick you if you die a single time and aren’t using “the meta build”. Helldivers I run the most random big guns you can get and it still works, I’m still covering my squad, still being effective in the team and rounding the edges the other guys can’t cover. Honestly there is no “meta” because everything even the starter weapons have a purpose even in higher difficulties Just had the sniper of the group unlock the Penetrator and I’m a little scared of her with that thing. She’s a menace with the limited ammo of the anti-mat sniper, now she has MORE bullets to tear through everything
You know if it was made for an audience a decade ago maybe helldivers 2 is the messiah we needed. A game from the olden times. No one expected a helldrop from an old game on the modern gaming battlefield. Even niko or doom guy might have problems with a squad of helldivers fighting for the gaming industry lol
i felt the same way about Risk of Rain 2. I'd never heard of it before, never played the first game, and suddenly my friends were talking about it and there were a few big youtubers playing it suddenly. It certainly didn't blow up the way this did, but I think Hoppo got lucky with it as well

TWO. you know how much the most expensive superstore armor is worth? $1.99... and you know what the best part is? ... you can earn it in game. you dont have to spend a dime past the initial purchase of the game. exactly as all things should be. you paid for the whole experience so you should be getting the whole experience. and helldivers 2 does that so well.

I have a possibly insane take:
People are realizing that they're tired of competitive play.
If this is an insane take than I'm afraid it's already over, to call "having fun" an insane take is insane in it of itself

Dont know man. I think no one has said ''Hey, maybe this game needs to be fun'' during skull n bones development

It's nice to be part of something, the whole roleplay war HD2 has going on where the enemies are literally being controlled by a game master of sorts makes you feel like you're actually helping a larger cause.
Now we can fight for DEMOCRACY!
That argument at the end always makes me so irrationally angry lol
@AsadAnjum it might make you angry, but I literally pulled out my gaming laptop that I hadn't touched in almost a year because I wanted to play this game, and I own an Xbox. 🤷♂️ they made a good game its a kind I've wanted to play. THIS!
It's always tough to see the games that get unlucky, but it's nice seeing good ones get lucky from time to time
The game reminds me of the days I used to spend playing Lost Planet 2. The 3rd person, sci-fi, bug killing and over the top feel of Helldivers 2 just brings back a lot of Nostalgia.
Ironically the ceo telling people not to buy the game yet, probably led to more sales...on top of him saying they have to earn the right to monetize

The community: “haha, no.”

When i woke up this morning and was ready to leave for work, i thought, i wonder how the map is doing? It is very rare that i have a thought about a game in the morning cause standart routine doesnt need thinking.

Helldiver SGT, here. Been holding the line against the Automotons at Malevon Creek.
The way you said "luck" made me flash back to Halo 3's intro
I disagree with luck being the decisive factor here.
They just made a unique game that stands out in a sea of trend chasing games that refuse to try something new.
They also made it cost 40 bucks at a time where the industry pushes for 70+ $ games.
I really started to get a sense to "Ready player one" movie vibes with this game
The developers haven’t made an incompetent decision, Sony has.
I feel respected, and not pressured to pay anymore than the $40
helldivers 2 reminds me of deep rock galactic. humor, gameplay, and even the whole "fighting bugs thing"
it's neat
First rule of Business 101:
A happy customer will tell 2 friends, and an unhappy customer will tell 10 friends.

I don't think it's a good idea to promote pre ordering. One good pre order cannot change the terrible others.
@@hehitmeinthekneegur1551 Never said that. I didn’t even preorder, but got the Super Citizen after launch.
I chose to keep it instead of refunding it because I found the game more than earned my extra dollars.
Now, if it were CoD, I’d only grab preorder because my father enjoys that game series(and that is something I’ve bought for him every couple of years or so.)
Anything else might as well not exist for me to care about it.
Oh man!! You got me rolling on the floor laughing!! "Hey Vegeta, what does the scouter say? .....IT'S OVER 9,000!!!!"

Halo Infinite
Halo MCC
Deep Rock Galactic
Helldivers 2
helldiver's phenomenon is almost the exact same with palworld so im not surprised
Maybe it so successful because the company didn’t try to push its political beliefs on its player base.
Second day of playing helldivers 2.
*Friend: Freedom Needs us Brother!!*
Nice to see a good live service game.
You said something: "Is it possible to recreate this success at a consistent level?"
This is the single most asked question by corporate giants who have ruined 99.9% of gaming and brought us to Helldivers.
The funny thing is, Helldivers 2 is one of the few live service games out there that; had server problems, and then upgraded the servers
I'm looking at you, Epic Games, and Bungie
1:26 Because as my business teacher puts it, the strongest type of advertisement is word of mouth.
the game has MORE detail than a AAA game, its actually funny
there is 3 words to describe HellDivers 2
"Democracy and Liberty"
My favorite part of the game is the funny way I and others have died. Imagine the pelican landing on you as you were defending yourself.
The finals could be so good, region lock china to control the insane amount of cheaters and a giant chunk of the playerbase will come back.
One of my coworkers talked me into joining the squad. Word of mouth works, fellow Helldivers! To the pods!
The same happened with Valheim, but in Valheim you host a game for your friends on your own PC, so there weren't so many server problems
It doesnt take itself so seriously like many other games do. Its got substance.
A neutral ground game without woke narratives, politics or ideologies, at last a normal game.

definitely friendly fire is the distinguishing factor, creating fun, chaos, which makes it really unique
They deserve our money. They gave us what we wanted. Fun game with more content withoutnbreaking our banks.
HellDivers2 is very similar to Deep Rock Galactic while one fights for Democracy, the other fights for rock and stone both games fighting aliens and robots. the missions selection is also very similar. I hope Deep Rock Galactic gets a bit more recognition

I have a theory: They’re actually concerned with how popular they’re getting. They’ve seen what happened to games like FNF, FNAF, Bendy and Among Us.
Jordan Poole getting strays in a Helldivers video. lol
What I like best about HD2 is that there are no rainbow capes allowed.
Hell yeah
Honestly I'm far sighted I don't want to be both far sighted and COLOR blind at the same time.
Helldivers's Company is the game who's like: Man Star Wars and Aliens are so cool what if i combine the two... "Helldivers is born"

I think i'm going to always have at least one piece of preorder gear on. Be it the golden cape, one of the helmets, or one of the armors...

Still waiting on the reinforcements from Xbox
Now that I think about it, helldivers 2 is basically starship troopers.
0:19 NMS : Ha only a thousand planets try a couple quadrillion
"what you saw is what you got" is why it went from successful, to "holy shit, the servers are on fire"
the CEO 'please don't buy this game until we have spent time upgrading our server capacity, perhaps we can buy the antarctic to put all the new servers farms we need'
If Helldivers was created by a publicly traded company... It would be LIABLE to be sued to tell people to buy it later... that is a big part of it
Jesus, what a way to make me feel ancient! My first console was NES in 1990 😭
the other thing that makes it different from other games is that once you become level 10 you can keep up with the level 50's assuming you are not a idiot.
There’s no pvp, most people are being friendly and helpful and even if everyone dies and the mission fails, about 90% of the response isn’t “oh no we lost” it’s “we did as much as we could for Super Earth, and we will do it again GET IN THE HELLPOD LOSERS WE’RE GOING LIBERATING!”
When was the last time we got a game where people were actually supportive of each other even when we were losing miserably? Seriously, even Destiny people will kick you if you die a single time and aren’t using “the meta build”. Helldivers I run the most random big guns you can get and it still works, I’m still covering my squad, still being effective in the team and rounding the edges the other guys can’t cover. Honestly there is no “meta” because everything even the starter weapons have a purpose even in higher difficulties
Just had the sniper of the group unlock the Penetrator and I’m a little scared of her with that thing.
It certainly didn't blow up the way this did, but I think Hoppo got lucky with it as well
not going to lie here but that bit with you bro had me rolling on the floor, laugh my socks off, well done to bro there for "supporting the democracy" XD
What's funny is a little bit before helldivers 2 343 was given an idea for the same kind of game, and the people who suggested that were fired
