    Interesting router with a faster speed and different chip set. The team from Mobile Internet Resource Center has done some hands on testing and speed testing. Sounds like it can handle faster speeds and using less of the processor and the DUO model. Any idea when Peplink will have a replacement for the MAX Transit DUO? Or should I just go with this model for internet access for my van, I will use the Husky Pro since it supports 5G.

      It is unlikely you will see a dual modem 5G device anytime soon due to cost constraints and because it would require 8 antenna leads up to the roof. We do have a dual modem 5G device which is called the MBX Mini but it's quote expensive so not typically for consumer use but it does exist here: mobilemusthave.com/products/pepwave-mbx-mini-dual-5g-cat-20-mobile-router?_pos=1&_sid=f45545c06&_ss=r.
      In general I would say for mobile work use we still recommend. the DUO or the Transit Pro E that are both dual modem CAT-12 devices for your primary router. Many of our customers are choosing to Level-Up that setup by adding a BR1 Pro 5G to that setup and connecting the BR1 Pro 5G to the DUO via the WAN port for a 3 modem (2 router) setup and then utilizing SpeedFusion Cloud to bond the 3 connections together. While there is added effort to manage two routers via two separate admin consoles the DUO does a solid job of managing all three connections and with a 400mbps max throughput on the DUO it keeps up pretty well with realistic 5G speeds which range from 40-400mbps in our experience. That is how our more advanced customers are setting things up for a three modem setup that can cover ATT/Verizon/TMobile which could be used all at the same time using Speedfusion. We have a guide on how to enable SpeedFusion also which just launched here: support.mobilemusthave.com/support/solutions/articles/67000690510-enabling-speedfusion-cloud-on-peplink-devices and are starting to cover how to configure multi-peplink setups in our member forums. Membership details are available at membership.mobilemusthave.com if you are looking for assistance on more advanced configurations like this. Thanks for the great question!

    Do you have this device in a bundle as I am considering the Ultimate Road Warrior Bundle, and how faster this new modem would be over the one in the Ultimate Road Warrior Bundle? Thank you

      Not yet but if you reach out at mobilemusthave.com on chat we can put together a bundle discount code. Joining our membership program would also be a very good idea as that would more than pay for itself with the additional 5% discount for member purchases then the bundle discount would add another 2% for you.

    Is the router configurable to change the TTL to 65 to bypass throttling?

    • @MobileMustHave
      @MobileMustHave  2 роки тому +1

      We can't comment on bypassing throttling as TTL technology is one of many ways that carriers limit bandwidth to what is contracted on data plans but yes this modem allows you to set the TTL settings on the WAN source. Our support article on custom TTL is here: support.mobilemusthave.com/support/solutions/articles/67000587726-setting-custom-ttl-on-peplink-devices

    Will this work on Verizon?

    • @MobileMustHave
      @MobileMustHave  3 роки тому

      Verizon has not yet certified this device, but it is expected to be credited at some point. Early testing shows if you have a 5G plan it does pick it up, but it depends on coverage and you plan. So yes, but not officially.

    can I connect a hd 2 dome into the wan port?

    • @MobileMustHave
      @MobileMustHave  2 роки тому

      you can yes. The HD2 Dome is a dual modem device though so you would have a dual modem device then funneling into another router so this could make for some challenges if you are looking to use speedfusion across all three connections as the HD2 Dome will present its internet connection as a single connection to the BR1 Pro. its technically possible but probably not ideal so make sure you work through how your traffic will flow before utilizing this setup.

    That is very nice. but $1500? sounds like way way overpriced.

      Ya, the 5G modems come at a price. There is an LTE only version of these called the BR1 Pro Cat20

    This looks very interesting, but at $1499, no thanks!

    • @MobileMustHave
      @MobileMustHave  3 роки тому +1

      Definitely a high-end product. Most people assume they can just grab a 5G hotspot and it's the same thing however the router throughput and build quality makes those devices limited in actual speed, prone to needing reboots and with limited antenna options. That said there are plenty of solid units in CAT 6-18 at half this price point or less for those just looking for reliability and not the latest/greatest fastest for sure! Thanks for checking in John.

      @@MobileMustHave thanks for the response! Yes the benefits over a typical hotspot do make sense, but like you said, there are cat 20 routers out there at substantially lower cost. I just think its hard to justify the 5g and wifi6 upgrade for $1499. The original price if 899 ish makes much more sense. Despite any chip shortage. I just think they're pricing themselves out of the market at this price point
