You seems happy it makes me happy. My wife since 25 years diagnosed with breast cancer 1 year ago. Its like having a nightmare every day when I wake up. I love your channel it makes me feel stronger and hopeful! All the best!
Don;t worry, it will get better. I was in the same boat as you. she beat the cancer, and is now having reconstructive surgery. It was a 16 hour surgery yesterday, 2 doctors. It was the radiation treatment that did the most damage. really think twice about the radiation.
Man, seeing you joke like that with the fake out with the sugar just made my day. I laughed too. Love this channel. I'm forcing myself into repairing electronics now because of this channel. My father is an electrician and an appliance repair man from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 00s. I would watch him solder like it was magic but never got into it myself.
I’m glad you’re feeling better. Your videos have been very therapeutic, just watching and listening to you tear down and fix different devices, as I also have had some health issues recently. Appreciate what you do Thank you.
Sugar will dissolve to some extent in alcohol, salt will not. If you ever found a repeat of this you could use this to test. Also sugar will melt in a flame at pretty low temperatures where salt won't. Keep up the great work.
Imagine a live stream with Steve and a broken device but the chat has to figure out what’s wrong! I’m not saying you should do it because I know you have a schedule, but I bet that would be fun!
Simple experiment: Drop a few grains on the hot stove. Sugar melts on a hot stove and smell of caramel will be evident. Salt on the other hand won't melt on the hot stove. In 10 seconds you will know what it is.
She was excited when they bought it. Thinking they could play together every so often. He enjoyed it so much that he started playing it alone all the time. The wife felt left out and decided to sabotage the switch. That's my theory. 😂
Assuming that this is salt or sugar is a bit too trusting in my opinion.. there are some messed up people out there.. I would be on the side of caution when it comes to contaminants and at least use nitrile gloves when initially dealing with it
I missed what you cleaned with? If you cleaned with IPA or any other kind of alcohol, salt or sugar wont dissolve. If its sugar or salt, its better to use a cotton-swabs (not sure about the spelling) with water first, since water dissolve both,, and then use alcohol. But as aI mentioned, I missed that part of the video. learned a lot from your content by the way! :)
Well, its kinda great to have the thumb sticks as caps. Incase you can't deal with how they feel, you can pop them off but put them on for display, or if the joy-cons get messed up and have to send in to get fixed (if one can't do it oneself or find out you have a really seedy shop) so they can't say they were too broken to use, so they got generic sticks.
That story was really strange, either that couple was living with someone else, who hated them, or the girlfriend got tired of the console and ruined it. But if that stuff was sugar, then someone must have poured pure sugar inside the Switch, because I don't think it would dry like that after it's been dissolved in a liquid, plus there wasn't anything that actually looked like liquid damage.
You could use a refractometer to see if there is some sugar content in the water. 0 = water, then the value gets higher with a greater sugar concentration.
i believe it is sugar because if you heat it turn into liquids and salt will smell burn so sugar is only thing make u think liquids danged was cause by sugar
Since some parts of the stuff looked like the melted it's most likely sugar because salts melting point is way to high, it also just looks more like sugar i feel like salt is usually more cloudy looking
Put the substance on a stove plate at lowest temp and see if it melts The "1" plate setting should be around 250 celsius, at least mine is. Sugar has way lower melting point than salt, which has somewhere around 800 degreees celsius. Sugar melts at 160 degrees.
i would have looked at the "sugar" or whatever it is, with your microscope, you can actually see fairly well what it is, by how the crystals look like.
If you put the white powder in alcohol, sugar will dissolve and salt will not. Or, dissolve it in water then test a drop of water with an ohmmeter, salt will conduct electricity and sugar will not.
I think i seen this video once, and yes i watched it again and i still enjoyed every bit of it its so weird with the sugar thing... lol like why what and how. I know i spilt dr pepper on a old graphics card of mine because it fell ontop of the computer case and leaked into my old PC. The guy cleaning it probably got a quater of dr pepper cleaned out of the PC [and somehow it was still working for abit] until it wasnt..
I just dont understand how theres granules of sugar in it. If it was in liquid then it wouldnt go back to granulated form. Would it? It would just be like syrup or sticky. Once dissolved can it go back to granules without like a chemistry setup? Now someone could have poured straight sugar into it. But being liquid when it went in, i dont think so.
It doesn’t even look like there’s water damage. At least as far as I am in the video. I don’t see why anyone would pour straight sugar into the switch. Just seems like something a kid would do.
Educated guess from personal experience. Religious relatives ... I had my Gameboy advance SP conveniently "disappear" when a religious relative didn't like that I was playing so much Pokémon on it.

this is an old video though. But he does seem happy in his new videos.
That is no way to treat your stash of cocaine.
😂

Boggles the mind how people (youtuber, tronix) can read this but not say anything.. when he himself fought for his life.. come on man..
Hope your wife makes it man everyone deserves happiness so ling as you’re a good man! Tc brother, hang in there! 😊
Sugar will dissolve to some extent in alcohol, salt will not. If you ever found a repeat of this you could use this to test. Also sugar will melt in a flame at pretty low temperatures where salt won't. Keep up the great work.
One is sticky the other is not.
Chances are they were listening to Def Leppard when this incident happened.
And it was in the name of love while trying to fire it up.
Nice!
Best comment ever
when you almost put shield back, i was like oh no! but then you did apply the perfect amount. 👍🏼
send the "sugar" pieces to a science youtuber for testing, there has to be plenty out there.
Send them to me. $100 and I’ll taste test lol
nice to see your hair growing back! you look good! good video as usual!
This is an older video from the main channel, but my hair has started to grow back recently!
Happy to see you healthy !!! keep it up dude :)
Imagine a live stream with Steve and a broken device but the chat has to figure out what’s wrong! I’m not saying you should do it because I know you have a schedule, but I bet that would be fun!
Steve, i am so happy to see you recovering so well. I wish all the best to you and your family.
Whether it’s salt or sugar it’s still better than the cockroach carcasses you’ve had in other projects.
Great vid as usual thnx.
Fyi salt is completely insoluble in ethyl Alcohol, sugar has some solubility. For future reference.
So happy to see you getting better ;-)
To see the return of shaved head steve almost brings a tear to the eye😢. Never missed a beat! Hope you're feeling strong.
Looking good sir. Happy to see it.
And good on you for bringing another one back.
Add the crystals to IPA. Salt will sit there, sugar will dissolve. Simple. Hence why adding salt to IPA is great for cleaning smoking apparatus 🎉
Simple experiment: Drop a few grains on the hot stove. Sugar melts on a hot stove and smell of caramel will be evident. Salt on the other hand won't melt on the hot stove. In 10 seconds you will know what it is.
There are other white powdery substances though so be careful
gf didnt like him playing so much.
She was excited when they bought it. Thinking they could play together every so often. He enjoyed it so much that he started playing it alone all the time. The wife felt left out and decided to sabotage the switch. That's my theory. 😂
I had no idea that there was a Diablo 3 Switch! Id love to have gotten one of these.
Does your microscope camera have enough zoom to view the individual grains? You could compare to your own salt and sugar.
Sugar dissolves in alcohol, salt doesn’t.
Not true, salt bubbles up and makes bubbles from alcohol, I learned that on fan duel
Salt does dissolve in alcohol, go back to chemistry class LOL😂 It just that the solubility is lower
@@challenger516 thank you, Captain Pedantic. But to help to quickly determine if something is salt or sugar, it’s valid information.
if it was sugar, your hands would be sticky
Assuming that this is salt or sugar is a bit too trusting in my opinion.. there are some messed up people out there.. I would be on the side of caution when it comes to contaminants and at least use nitrile gloves when initially dealing with it
CSI Tronics *YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH*
Really enjoy watching this channel
As a seasoned salt, sugar, and Diablo user, I assume those granules are bath salts.
I missed what you cleaned with? If you cleaned with IPA or any other kind of alcohol, salt or sugar wont dissolve. Super-satisfying to see it nice and clean, and restored to working order. Thank you sir!
Flame color test - orange flame means sodium. Then maybe try glucose test strip...
This is the first instance in history of someone trying to create Caramel in a Nintendo Switch! It's incredible but failed masterfully!
Well, its kinda great to have the thumb sticks as caps. I would place my bet on sugar, salty liquids usually cause way more corrosion on screws and metal parts, like the gamecard slot.
Yes, if it were salt, the corrosion will be substantial.
awesome. thats a perfect scenario for the ultrasonic
sugar crystals have sharp angular edges, salt is more rounded, looks like sugar from the crystals
I think this is the origin story of BadAss Steve. You couldn't resist and it gave you immortal powers.
Trow at the garden. If ants go for it and don't die by overdose it's sugar.
12:05 I believe he put the tablette by mistake in sugar instead of rice for a liquid damage!
sugar tends to have larger granules compared to salt, which is more packed and dense
Going by how corrosive salt is and how clean it looked I'd be inclined to say it likely wasn't salt
Send the "sugar" to Nilered. Imagine its a certain thing you definitely don't want near your nose lmao.
Missed opportunity of playing an instrumental take of POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME as background track.
That would've been great, haha!
Use isopropyl alcohol m8, Indian pale ale I have heard doesn't work well cleaning up electronics... :P :P :P
You could use a refractometer to see if there is some sugar content in the water. 0 = water, then the value gets higher with a greater sugar concentration.
The Beastie Boys said it best: It's Sabotage!
i believe it is sugar because if you heat it turn into liquids and salt will smell burn so sugar is only thing make u think liquids danged was cause by sugar
If it's salt corrosion might have started occurring. So its probably sugar.
Since some parts of the stuff looked like the melted it's most likely sugar because salts melting point is way to high, it also just looks more like sugar i feel like salt is usually more cloudy looking
The way it gummed up in the fan, lets me think its sugar.
2:00 my heart stopped for a moment
Easy way to tell, put the substance into an oil burner, light the candle under it.. if it melts it’s sugar, if it doesn’t it’s salt
I assume those two are not living together anymore and she got mad on him and put sugar in his Switch
sugar vs heat will carmelize, salt will not.
A good bit of heat would tell you which it is. Sugar will turn black but salt won't change much at all
Put the substance on a stove plate at lowest temp and see if it melts The "1" plate setting should be around 250 celsius, at least mine is.
Sugar has way lower melting point than salt, which has somewhere around 800 degreees celsius. Sugar melts at 160 degrees.
You had a good try with the water, but I think cold water would have been a better test. Salt dissolves cold water sugar will not.
I’m thinking it was salt. Chances are someone accidentally spilled a liquid on it and in a panic put the device in salt to try and dry it out.
i would have looked at the "sugar" or whatever it is, with your microscope, you can actually see fairly well what it is, by how the crystals look like.
I would love to read the full story.
Maybe a roomie got tired of the device and decided to sabotage it.
On APUs you should spread the thermal paste completely across the die, instead of a ball like on a CPU.
is this video a re upload I'm sure iv seen this before on the channel, especially with this salt or sugar theory lol
Extended cut
This channel is just for longer versions of the original videos for those who want to see
@TronicsFixLongs I love all your videos I watch everyone😁😁😁 especially when you need to...... taste stuff😂....... just kidding hehe
If you put the white powder in alcohol, sugar will dissolve and salt will not. Or, dissolve it in water then test a drop of water with an ohmmeter, salt will conduct electricity and sugar will not.
Stay a while, and sweeten!
I think i seen this video once, and yes i watched it again and i still enjoyed every bit of it its so weird with the sugar thing... lol like why what and how. I know i spilt dr pepper on a old graphics card of mine because it fell ontop of the computer case and leaked into my old PC.

until it wasnt..
Could have measured the conductivity of the water solution, added the mystery substance, then measured again. :p
Sugar has low melting point compared to salt i belive
Salt will make the water cloudy, where as sugar will dissolve clear. But the ratio you have there may not be enough to show it.
Yeah, I'd be game enough to taste test that.
You need to burn the crystals and see what color it burns...
That's a sweet handheld
I hear that stash of sugar is valuable, you can sell it in your nearest alley.
That's so messed up someone did that lol, must have had at least one enemy 😂
Huuu, someone spill the coke!!....😄
I always thought salt water would cause metals to corroded super fast, so but it wasn't sticky so sugar seems unlikely to me as well...
nice to see you are ok keep doing the thing do you like make vids. God bless you
Bro knew exactly what it was he was tryna get all of it out once it hit his system 😂
I don't remember seeing Diablo singing "pour some sugar on me".
Sugar melts, salt doesnt. Heat it up.
If you want to test the dissolved liquid, try boiling it off. Sugar will turn to syrup. Salt will go crusty.
Do you sell any of these consoles you fix?
Maybe someone spilled something in it an put it in a bag of something trying to dry it out but didn’t have rice lol😂
salt has a melting point way higher than what a Switch should produce, so i will go with Sugar
put it on a fryingpan, it wil turn brovn if its sugar
May be the internal components needed a complete alcohol bath .😅😅😅
Should have licked it!. nintendo has a history of blowing saliva into cartridges to make it work, so it's a gimme 😂
Try burning the substance with a stick lighter. Sugar should burn and turn black.
All I know that under a microscope salt is more clear while sugar is not giving it a more white color.
Suspicious location: within a bag of powdered sugar.
5 bucks id of seen what the powder/sugar is. Good deal id say!
Sugar can melt when heated, unlike salt.
Sugar dissolves in alcohol, but salt does not.

Sweet job!
Suspicious locations is like a cop case.
felicidades, que bueno que te veas asi de bien.
Haha! That sugar tasting thing got me 😂
Educated guess from personal experience.
Religious relatives ...
I had my Gameboy advance SP conveniently "disappear" when a religious relative didn't like that I was playing so much Pokémon on it.
Also, sugar actually has a smell, but you need large amount of it to smell it.
