A real drawback is the fact that you can't make a preset with two independent delays in series. For example, I like to use an extremely short delay to fatten the tone, followed by a dotted eights note delay with modulation. The pedal has by far enough processing power to do that, it's a limitation that could be fixed with a software update. But I guess that will never happen in this company.
Is it possible to use the delay while using the looper?
Can anyone explain how the “global tap mode” works? The video references that, but doesn’t explain how to enable it and as demoed, seems to conflict with the bank up/down feature.

By the way, have you thought of making some way of switching the modes by the external footswitch or something?That would be awesome for live sessions.

I have heard that the tone print app is really crap and the desktop version isn't much cop either... What's honestly going on with the tone print app Tore?
i just got it and the delay dont seem to work with looper , looper works but cant get delay to work with looper any ideas
@@zorlez sorry I sold it and bought a vox delaylab instead. works so much better, sounds so much better, much more authentic unless you going for the sparkly sparkly sound which doesn't really appeal to me that much to be honest

I bought this pedal and it's great. The global tap tempo can be turned on or off in toneprint editor. If you turn it off, then every preset has its own tempo, and if you tap the tempo on one preset it wont affect other presets. I never use it like that, so I dont remember if the tapped tempo will stay saved on that preset once you switch to another preset. But YOU CAN enable the global tap tempo, which is great. In that case you can tap any time you want, even if no delay is being active, and the tapped tempo will be assigned to all presets. Even if you choose to not have any delay during one part of a song, and go clean, once you activate any delay the tapped tempo will wait for you there.
I like it more that way, because I can tap the tempo at the begining of a song and use any delay I want throughout the song not worrying about tempo.
TC Electronic Presets can be switched via midi right? And can parameters of the delays be changed via midi? Can 6 toneprints be saved as the 6 presets?

Can you have ping pong delays on all algorithms via the app or custom subdivisions? For instance, a ping pong reverse delay, hard panned equally between left and right, not like the asymmetrical delays you get when using the new combined subdivisions.

the old flashback has the possibility to use the looper with the delay active, it seems to me that with the 2 x4 flashback it is not possible? .. am I right?

Can you use any of the delays while using the looper? To me that was an attractive feature of the first x4 (though I didn’t own one). Curious how so few videos are out there demonstrating the loop function of the flashback pedals. Maybe the feature needs to be retired to make room for something people seem to value.
Luke Robinett As far as I can tell, it’s either delivering delay or it’s a looper, but not both at once. I’m sure I’ve seen at least one video of the original x4 doing both simultaneously, but I’ve never seen video of the FB2x4 demonstrating this. The revised configuration of the controls suggests it cannot.

Can somebody explain to me why they decided to dissbled all delay functionality in the looper mode??? It doesn’t make sense to me.

Just where is the "global tempo" mode ???
I have several TC products, the legendary 2290 and various pedals, but such a product cannot be limited to six presets and three knobs, with a smartphone management. Other products have a menu and dedicated functions. IMHO

If they changed the strum in tempo feature to a foot tap? They have made a big mistake.
There are 4 switches on this one !! So you can tap without interrupting your guitar playing
Tanguy Delooz I said if they replaced the strum in tap tempo with the typical foot tap, they have made a mistake. Strum in is far easier and more accurate. Not to mention tapping from a sitting position if needed.
@@scottallen9556 Ok personally I prefer foot tap because I don't have to wait 2 seconds till full sound cut and then stop playing for strumming and then remove the foot right before the end of the interval.
I am pretty sure this one has no strum mode since it has a direct tap footswitch.
On the other hand, for the regular 1-switch Flashback2, yes unfortunately they replaced the strum mode with an option for external tap tempo and that was a deal breaker for me too because it's impossible to combine the external tap tempo with stereo sound.
IMHO the system on the Pipeline looks cool but I understand you prefer strumming.

@@Jack655321 On the 1-switch FB2 model, unfortunately, if you plug an external tap tempo, it will limit the output to mono.

Not on this one. But with the Subdivision it's almost like 2 delay in the same time. You can get The Edge's tone easily

Way too complicated. If I can't find a real instructional video soon it's going back.

TC does good mid price products, but its "big delays" have been failures, and I think this will be too. Its way too big. Still you guys keep putting the jacks too close together. Most importantly, it doesn't have the sound quality and tweak-ability of products like Source Audio Nemesis, Timeline (nearly 10 years old!) or Boss DD-500. In this price league, TC is out of its league. You're better off with a Flashback 2 (an older one preferably, so you can strum in the tempo).
I respectfully disagree. While I do agree with you on the size factor (it it massively too big) I think a delay pedal can have too many features, I have a DD500 and its just not enjoyable to go into menus all the time to get the sound i want. The new X4 has great features and keeps it simple enough for anyone while adding a lot of tweakability with it's toneprint software. It's unfair to compare it to the Timeline or Nemesis as its half the price of those units but the X4 i think still holds it's own. You may see it as a 'failure' but TC has had 3 variations of its big delays (triple delay and alter ego) so people are buying them.
@@racerx3065 In Australia TC retail is $519, Timeline is $629, Nemesis is $529. AUD/USD exchange about 0.69/1:00. Looks like same bracket to me
@@racerx3065 I don't think it's simple. For example, to change the modulation, you must have a smartphone, an OTG cable. I have a Flashback 2 and a HoF 2 and they are fantastic, but not simple
@@dinik71 I suppose that's if you're deep diving into some of the delay settings. You can still beam things from your smartphone I suppose but I mean if you want the ability to change the mod then spend the extra on the other units?
@@CNCTEMATIC I can't speak for Oz prices but I'm in the UK and the flashback is no where near that much. You are getting a timeline cheaper than I can get it though
