David you are THE MAN!! I just ordered this pedal and am so glad I found this video. Best explanation of this pedal out there! Fantastic guitar playing too! Keep up the great work!
Just wanted to say thanks for doing a walk through on the x4. I have an older one and love it. Not many videos out there on it surprisingly. Was considering grabbing an expression pedal to hook to the exp jack. Ever tried it...worth it. BTW loved the secret society letter Haiku rules thing you did. Generally go with what I'm hearing around me while playing but if the band gets in a static rut it's nice to add to my trick bag to shake em up.
Thank you for this excellent video. I just received my Flashback 2x4 and haven’t even plugged it in, but had almost no idea how to use it based on the manual that came with it. I checked out to electronics official video and it was very poor, but you explain step by step how it works. They should be hiring you or paying you for this. :) I’m still a bit unclear how to save and recall presets added. You went over this a little more quickly at the end of the video, but I’ll try it out today. Thanks again. Oh yes, your video is a couple of frames out of sync on UA-cam for some reason.
Sounds great.. my DL4 is starting to give me bother after 15 years, so time upgrade.... I will really miss the auto volume setting in the DL4, none of these newer alternatives seem to have this feature... damn
@@KiraPlaysGuitar Yeah better to know now then to impulse buy it and finding out too late that is the wrong one haha! But the original Flashback X4 is also really great btw!
Thanks so much for the demo. I have noticed another demos where you use original Flashback-is it a Flashback 2? If so, could you make a comparison between the single Flashback 2 and this x4 version? The analog delay on this seems to sound better. Thanks
It sounds amazing but it’s really complicated to use. I’ve been trying to understand how the MASH buttons relate to the selected delay. The MASH buttons bring in delay sounds that are different than what’s selected, but there’s no apparent way to know what they are, or how they are assigned. So, I don’t know what I’m going to get with each button, it’s random. The manual doesn’t explain it, which is really unbelievable. And I’ve yet to see a video that demos how that works. I guess if you mess with it long enough you might figure it out?
I've owned my Flashback 2 x4 for about a year now, and have only just started experimenting with TonePrints and storing my own "presets". Many thanks for clearing up one thing I found confusing: that the six preset slots are separate from the TonePrint slots... I got that right, didn't I?
I’m having an issue with my TonePrints on this pedal. They’re all beaming from my phone correctly, but when I go to use them, I get no effects whatsoever. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Mine is a week old and having issues. Here's one example : No sound on bank 1(A)..but if you tap 1(B) then go back and tap 1(A). Then I have something on 1(A)...and yes seems I'm having trouble with Toneprints as well.
Pisses me off they released this not too long after I bought the first version. And my little toggle switch is stuck. Will not move. Lastly, didn’t you release this video once?
Man, that is frustrating! Yes, this video was taken down and re-uploaded because the pedal was not released until today (I received an early pre-released version!)
This might be a dumb question but when you used more the one delay does it give the same effect as 2 delay being stacked. Also can you use a tape delay for 1 delay and reverse delay at the same time
Artifice 312 this if you need classic, basic delays and want to experiment with the pc editor and the MIDI capabilities. The Grand Canyon offers more strange, experimental delays out of the box, has a beautiful shimmer and THE ONLY LOOPER ever put into a delay pedal to ever make sense!
If ever you get chance .....overdrive this machine. Your demo and presentation is fantastic BUT some of us want effects that can be overdrived abused etc
A real drawback is the fact that you can't make a preset with two independent delays in series. For example, I like to use an extremely short delay to fatten the tone, followed by a dotted eights note delay with modulation. The pedal has by far enough processing power to do that, it's a limitation that could be fixed with a software update. But that will never happen in this company.
1) if you’re rehearsing a delay maybe keep it audible, no sense in putting Level at 10 o’clock. 2) would have been cool if you showed what Mash does on each setting 3) it’s a thumb down from me but I’ll watch more videos from you
The mash effect is not usable. I've seen many demo videos on mash....it's ridiculous. Vomical. It does not augment or add anything musical to one's delay playing. There is no formal structure or development in the piece. Not sonically pleasing, but not interesting artistically. Otherwise great delay pedal!
Has such a new tone output that I haven't heard from most new ones I've seen. Really great showcase here guys!

Pair this with an ambient reverb. Heavenly.

great player, just that intro wow
Love this pedal

Honestly, that's how a review should be always done.
Nunzio Annunziata yeah with lots of talking, delay level dialled back and no Mash explanation.
Jesus.
Nice job.
I just bought this to pair with the strymon blue sky
Dude. Saw one of these in the music store the other day, need to back.
That would probably be the original Flashback X4 right? This one just came out today!
@@SeanPithie Got you. In that case it must have been. I'm hardly the gear nerd.
@@KiraPlaysGuitar Yeah better to know now then to impulse buy it and finding out too late that is the wrong one haha!

such a shame you cannot use the delay effect on the loop, instead you need an additional delay pedal

Without a display how do you know what the delay Ms that you're dialing in is
Bro, why it says x4?? How is it different from a normal flashback 2 pedal? I don’t get it. Please clarify ❤

hello what reglage for reggae music?
It saves presets with different subdivisions??
curious to know if this pedal would work similarly with mic signals? like using it to process a flute or a harp. any thoughts?

David Wallimann thanks for the response. I feel important today. 🤟🏻
Same here 😞
Am I the only one who finds it annoying that you can't use delays while looping? In the previous version of this pedal you could
Are u serious? Why upgrade then?
On the album, he doesn’t strum the strings the same way you are. Cool info though!
Can you actually combine a delay + looper?
I have the same question. When I tried to move to another setting after making a looper, the loop just cut off. That sux unless I'm missing something,
NIck Xenakis it’s like you said. Totally pointless to have a looper like that. Totally.
No you can't with this versions pointless
oh my gash !...
Nice pedal. Your tone is great. What amp and speaker are you using?
As you see in the back he is playing through an Axe Fx III.

knowhistory6 no and no.
@@JCBigCat cool thanks. Have you tried the fastback triple delay if so which one do you like better
i just got flashback 2 x4 does the delays work n any way with the looper thx
Nah you can't use the looper and a delay setting at the same time unfortunately.
It might be time for an overhead camera ;>)
?
Is that just the crystal setting on its own in the first 30 seconds?
petruccirocks02 yes.
I’m not finding this pedal for sale online.
Anyone have a link to a place to purchase it?
Thanks
Look on thomann
Simon thanks
Does it take a battery?
Solar operated
You can't use the presets with the looper like you could with the first X4
this or grand canyon? confused af

@@JCBigCat Oh thanks. Im actually planning to get a proper delay I can add before my Quiet Theory Prelude, so I am curious which one would fit better.
Artifice 312 man I ended up with a Boss DD-8 and I think it’s awesome!
david wallimann looks so much like doug demuro
I could not get mine to sound anything like this.. 😅
Years of playing and a PRS help lol

Yeh we need another video of 2 hours of shred guitar
4:45 ("wtf?! ")
All those video guys are using PRS guitars, no wonder the brand is getting so popular!!...
