Rough sex is mainstream because of media propoganda and porn. If you constantly show rough sex to a new generation, they'll think it's ok. It's not a hard question. So many movies throw in sex just because and so do shows as well, especially that show sex education on netflix that was available for everyone to watch, even children 😔. Not everyone equates the 2. I wouldn't call myself someone who is into that but I've been with women who request acts like that which I don't want to perform and I just say sorry no thanks. But I don't act surprised.
It's because of two things: widespread pornography on the internet and because people are adrenaline junkies. Face slapping, spanking, spitting, choking, name-calling, etc - they all create an extra level of emotion and excitement. Especially in situations like porn or hook-ups, where there is no other emotional connection (genuine love and affection), it fills that emotional void.
Don't be choking anybody if you don't know WTF you are doing! You need to be VERY connected to your partner if you are going to have rough sex. It's incredible fun, but it's a balance between dominant expressive play and the moment-to-moment awareness to know where your partner is at, and remain connected to their point of resilience. I always built up my partners after playing too.
I watch porn every once in a great while. I’ve seen these videos where the women almost passes out. I thought one or two almost looked like they were dead. The funny thing is, I never see the women choking the men. It’s always the other way around. I would suggest if you’re in that kind of relationship… Run as fast as you can to the nearest exit and never look back.
Dr. Malik I thought it was interesting that at the end of the interview you connected growing sexual abstinence among young people with irl disconnection. Maybe that’s what the data is saying. But the first chunk of this interview implied young people’s first sexual experiences are likely going to be violent on some level, consensual or otherwise. Surely that’s a deterrent too.
Honestly, you'd be surprised how many like it rough as opposed to gentle and romantic. NOT rough to the point of hurting them but the 'roses and beautiful sunsets' are in the minority.

I dare say that this is a result of the influence of internet porn which portrays and markets unrealistic and specific types of sex and abuse. The breakdown and decline in affection and sex between couples has resulted in the increased use of porn to offset the desire for sexual gratification (ask any person trapped in a sexless or low sex marriage / relationship).
