Congratulations ❤️ I have family still in it & some who came out of it. Even tho I am no longer religious, I grew up Lutheran, I still believe Jesus is my savior & I pray that my loved ones eyes are open to the truth. I thank Apologia Studios for renewing my faith in God & helping me learn so much from the side projects like Cultish.
I’ve been out for…2 out so years. I don’t get why people leave and go join another religion. But long as you’re not hurting anyone or trying to force others follow your religion’s rules. Then I’m happy for you.
I have about 12 jehovah witness family members coming to our home on the 30th of this month! They have not seen or talked to me since my new birth as a Christian in August of 2020. This could not have came at a better time! All Glory to God and thank you apologia studios!
Was raised a JW, left when I was 17'ish and was a militant atheist for over 10 years. God found me 3 years ago. Today I study theology at the university with the aim of becoming a priest.
Today Just was riding my bike in my hood and seen some J dubs (Jehovah Witness) posted up in front of a Catholic Spanish restaurant. I stop and had a 1 hr and half convo with them . I am responding to your profile picture. Do you know what John Calvin said against those who teach the cosmology we are taught in the indoctrination school system? "The Christian is not to compromise so as to obscure the distinction between good and evil, and is to avoid the errors of those dreamers who have a spirit of bitterness and contradiction, who reprove everything and prevent the order of nature. We will see some who are so deranged, not only in religion but who in all things reveal their monstrous nature, that they will say that the sun does not move, and that it is the earth which shifts and turns. When we see such minds we must indeed confess that the devil posses them, and that God sets them before us as mirrors, in order to keep us in his fear. So it is with all who argue out of pure malice, and who happily make a show of their imprudence. When they are told: “That is hot,” they will reply: “No, it is plainly cold.” When they are shown an object that is black, they will say that it is white, or vice versa. Just like the man who said that snow is black; for although it is perceived and known by all to be white, yet he clearly wished to contradict the fact. And so it is that they are madmen who would try to change the natural order, and even to dazzle eyes and benumb their senses." - John Calvin.
@@cuppytv According to who? Is that what you believe or is that a fact? If it's a fact then can you show me how it has been tested and where it was proven that the earth moves? What if the Bible says it does NOT move? What if all tests to try and prove the earth does move have failed? What if, just like with evolution, you have been lied to about where you live and the nature of this realm? What if the true nature of this realm points to God and shows without a shadow of doubt that we were created? What if you did years of research into trying to prove the world is a globe and that the "solar system" is Helio(Satan)centric just to find out there is no clear proof? What if this journey only further showed you how much we have been lied to?

Go out in faith. No fear and if your heart is given to let the Holy Spirit work thru you he will come thru! Praise the Lord! Planting seeds and pebbles in the 👞 !
This podcast was so valuable. I could use this today when talking to a jehova’s witness. And use it as a step to the Gospel. I exchanged numbers, so this is really an opportunity to talk about the Gospel. Praise the LORD and pray for Henk (jw) and his wife that they may receive the Gospel.
Another great pair of passages from The Lord…Psalm 95 God says… Hebrews 3:7 The Holy Spirit says… Thank you Appologia for being the light you are, for the wisdom and encouragement you bring. May God continue to bless each one of you.
I was born in this mindwarp. Baptized at 11 mostly as a desperate attempt to feel loved by parents who weekly conditioned me and my brother to accept that we would be handed over for brutal torture and death if they were offered our lives in exchange for denouncing Jehovah. My perception on my experience vs other kids in this religion left me feeling unfairly dealt my reality. I really appreciate this thought provoking conversation. I had things said and done that I didn’t know how horrific that any parent would direct at their child was… not until I had my own kids. Thinking of treating my kids like that broke my heart when I looked at my kids. I have been alone and no family period since 1997. I realized for the first time that The response to logic you mentioned that looks like they feel backed into a corner, it only seems like that because any sane human… that is exactly what acting like this means. But the brain controls are so powerful and deep rooted that the empty explanations spoken, makes it feel like they are winning the argument.

Not to speak on @thegreatestoftheseislove1c379 behalf. But Oneness Pentecostals do not believe in the trinity. They believe in “modalism”. They don’t believe there is a distinction in the 3 persons of the tri-une Godhead. But that Jesus IS the Father and IS the Holy Spirit. Essentially that Jesus manifests himself in different modes of God

My (always a Christian) husband and I are focused on a ministry towards them. Pray for us in Virginia!
Regarding the Psalm 102 & Hebrews 1 passages, even if a JW argues that Hebrews 1 is just confirming or pointing to the fact that Jesus created with Jehovah-God there is another aspect you can draw their attention to. This passage is speaking of characteristics that are unique to the one true God. Specifically, His immutability (Psalm 102:26; Hebrews 1:10-11) and His eternality (Psalm 102:27; Hebrews 1:12). No created being can share these characteristics of God, because they are unique to God alone. This points directly to the deity of the Lord Jesus.
There is a growing cult in Jacksonville FL. Untamed Truth. Would love to have you all speak on this and if that encourages believers to come help us rescue people out and stop people from being sucked in, that would be awesome! Thanks
I’ve heard it taught before that the older NWT bibles actually used to read the same in Hebrews saying let all of the angels of God Worship Him. I would like to find one of the old bibles to prove that their translation has been repeatedly changed!!
That is correct! Since the word worship in Greek means several things, the context made the translators of the present NWT change the 'proskuneō' due Jesus and others worded differently. This can be checked by comparing Matthew 18:26 in various Bibles. The KJV says Worship. Others don't. Having the word worship at Hebrews 1:6 would show that the angels had refused to worship Jesus so God had to command them to do so. Wouldn't make sense, would it.
From what I understand they have no scholars among them so how is it they can decide what is correct. In the new testaments gods name was never put in but yet they do it anyway
I just started listening to all of Cultish podcasts through from the beginning, love them! It might be helpful to have a quick definition of some of the names and terms at the beginning of each episode. For example, I'm familiar with Scientology and Mormonism but have no idea how Jehovah's witnesses are different and have never heard of the "watch tower." Maybe it's just me!
Here's another comparison. Psalm 107:24-30. Men are caught up in the stormy seas but cry out to Jehovah and He calms the seas and the waves grow quiet. Then compare Matthew 8:22-27. Jesus rebukes the stormy seas and the waves grow quiet.
Jesus is Jehovah: Jehovah will share His glory with no one Isa 42:8 / John 17:5 Jehovah created all things alone Isa 44:24 / Col 1:16 No other savior besides Jehovah Isa 43:11 / 1 John 4:14 Only God can forgive sins Like 5:21, Dan 9:9 / Mark 2:7, Matt 9:1-8 There are many more but this should get one started in the connections. Dr. White is the one I first heard this from, he obviously has a wealth of knowledge on JW refutations.
Of all of the God dishonoring doctrines of Christendom(the CC, Orthodox church, and Protestantism) the trinity is unquestionably the most deplorable. It's an attack on the most important issue; The identity of Almighty God Jehovah. In spite of all the evidence that disproves it biblically and historically, it still continues to be taught as a "christian" belief. The reason that you didn't find it in the Bible is simple. It's not there.
@@ripcord8738 So true. The trinity is an insult to the creator. It’s actually says that Almighty God Jehovah has 2 other people that are equal to him. 1 in 3 and 3 in 1. The math doesn’t make sense.

I really would love to find a mentor who can help me overcome this.
This is so beautiful. Can you guys tackle the topic of “ Protestant ‘Christianity “ is only 500 yrs old . That’s what Catholic resurgent has been promoting hard on UA-cam. Ministries like Reason & Theology, Catholic truth .
Be careful listening to those Catholic apologists, they twist Scripture so much and they are very good at it and deceiving people, the blind leading the blind.
Anytime the side comments on scripture are taken as the gospel truth by members they are in error. Jehovah Witnesses and the Seventh Day Adventists are guilty of this. As the Word says," The anointing you have recieved of him abides in you and you don't need anyone to teach you.." ( 1John 2:27)
A JW will, at some time in a discussion, say that the word "Trinity" is not in the bible AND therefore that is a corruption made by orthodox Christians. One way to meet that objection is to ask the JW to read Genesis 1:1. in their New World Translation. After the JW reads that verse ask them this question: "Do you understand that verse teaching that God created the universe?" Most often the answer will be "Yes." A JW whose really a JW-doctrine whiz might say, "Technically, Jesus created the universe." To which you can agree. Then make the observation that the Hebrew language, which Moses used to write the Book of Genesis, does not have any word that translates to the English term "universe." Then state: "So then, using the term 'universe' to designate and encompass the 'single entity' that includes ALL that He created doesn't seem to be present any logical difficulty for your comprehension." Then ask:" So then, why should the term "trinity" to designate and encompass the single entity that includes ALL that is God be so difficult for you to comprehend?"

Genuine Q: if Jesus and Jehovah are the same, then how come only the Father knows the day of the end, not even the Son. The scripture is clear on that.
Same way that Jesus could be tired, hungry and yet raise the dead, call upon an army of angels. He humbled himself to be human like. Isaiah 9:6 New World Translation (JW bible) For a child has been born to us, A son has been given to us; And the rulership will rest on his shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, *Mighty God, Eternal Father,* Prince of Peace. How many Mighty Gods, Eternal Fathers do you believe in? What does Immanuel mean?
@@wylolister3218 ; Well, actually these sorts arguments from Trintarians lead to problems.... For instance, at Ezek. 32:21even humans are called by the plural form of same title, literally "mighty gods" (Heb. ("ele gibborim"). The angels are called "mighty ones" (Psa. 103:20) and "gods" ("elohim") at Psa. 8:5, 97:7, 138:1. So they're actually "Mighty Gods" as well. And where is Jesus ever referred to as "Almighty God" (Heb. "El Shaddai") like the Father is? Also, interestingly the Greek LXX translators do not render the Hebrew title "El Gibbor" as "Mighty God" at Isa. 9:6. But as an "Angel." If the title El Gibbor for the Messiah really meant he were Almighty God, would the LXX authors have interpreted that title as that of an angel? As for the title "Immanuel" ... Well the Israelite name "Eliathah" means "God has come." Or King "Jehu" means "Jehovah is he." Or "Elihu" means "God is he." Etc. ... You have to be careful not to read too much into titles in scripture as Trintarians unfortunately do trying desperately to prove Christ is God. ... Which then leads to a host of other problems this way. ...

Yeah, that's very strange ... I mean the angels are "sons of God", and they are certainly individuals separate from God whom he created (Job 1:6; 2.1; 38:7). And Adam was originally a "son of God" who was also definitely a separate individual from God and created by him (Lk. 3:38). But now Jesus is repeatedly called "the Son of God" in scripture far more times than these others. And he's supposedly not an individual separate from God and created by him??? .... To be clear, JWs believe the term "Hell" as an abbreviation of "Helan" meaning "the unseen place" in the old English dialect.
But....the earth does turn.
Psalm 102:28-30 and the gospel passages with Jesus and the disciples is a solid one too

I have these plus a few others written down on a little card in my wallet, to compensate for my lack of memorization. Always Ready 😉
If you can, please share the ones not shared when the last part comes out. Thank you!!

5:34-5:45 how do you teach the trinity when I have never found it in the Bible???
Of all of the God dishonoring doctrines of Christendom(the CC, Orthodox church, and Protestantism) the trinity is unquestionably the most deplorable. It's an attack on the most important issue; The identity of Almighty God Jehovah.

The reason that you didn't find it in the Bible is simple. It's not there.

Can you guys start a discussion about the Baha'i faith? I've been seeing them a lot here lately.

Isaiah 9:6 New World Translation (JW bible)
For a child has been born to us, A son has been given to us; And the rulership will rest on his shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, *Mighty God, Eternal Father,* Prince of Peace.
How many Mighty Gods, Eternal Fathers do you believe in? What does Immanuel mean?
@@wylolister3218 ;
Well, actually these sorts arguments from Trintarians lead to problems....
9:6. But as an "Angel."
If the title El Gibbor for the Messiah really meant he were Almighty God, would the LXX authors have interpreted that title as that of an angel?
As for the title "Immanuel" ...
Well the Israelite name "Eliathah" means "God has come."
Or King "Jehu" means "Jehovah is he."
Or "Elihu" means "God is he."
Etc. ...
You have to be careful not to read too much into titles in scripture as Trintarians unfortunately do trying desperately to prove Christ is God. ...
Which then leads to a host of other problems this way. ...

You had me until you started explaining their doctrine. You absolutely got it wrong. As an ex Jehovah's Witness I can confirm that they believe that Jesus is a mediator between human kind and Jehovah God. They don't believe the 144,000 are mediators, they believe the 144,000 will be teachers during the millennial reign. You are just wrong about your assumption of what they believe.
Check the insight book , not many witnesses know this technical tidbit, and I know that some when they find out the doctrine don't believe it to be true
Actually new doctrine now says that the 144 thousand is no longer the faithful and discreet slave but the governing body is and they are our mediator

As the Bible teaches that while the Father is the one Almighty God (YHWH).
The angels as "sons of God" are viewed as secondary or lesser "gods" as divine beings beneath God, who serve and worship him as his heavenly messengers with Christ as the head one.

It's not about how many ones with these titles I personally believe in.
But recognizing that they are relative titles in scripture that are applied to other individuals in scripture beneath God. No matter how many their specific numbers turn out to be.
Just like the title "El Gibbor", ("Mighty God") is ever applied to human military leaders or chiefs at Ezek. 32:21 "Ele Gibborim", which literally means "Mighty Gods."
Even the angels are called both "mighty ones" ("gibborim") at Psa. 103:20. And also "gods" ("elohim") at Psa. 8:5; 97:7; 138:1. So they're even "mighty gods" as well.
This is why the Father is also called "El Shaddai" for "Almighty God" like at Ex. 6:3. Which is not relative and is a title of absolute power and authority above all that is never applied to Christ.
And even Trinitarians are naturally forced to understand the title "Eternal Father" is used in a different sense than God the Father is, least you have modalism or something.

Neither God nor Christ is literally "coming" so as to leave heaven and come to the earth. But BOTH are actually coming in the sense that at Armageddon it will be God's judgement from heaven "coming" upon the inhabited earth carried out by his Son Jesus Christ accompanied by his powerful angels acting in his Father's Name.
Once again, Trinitarians frequently confuse expressions in scripture of God "coming" to do something, with the specific means or methodology by which he actually performs it through. Which is usually a divine agent as a representative of his that he raises and empowers to act for him.

- Passage: Genesis 1:1 (NWT)
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
- New Testament - Jesus as the Creator
- Passage: Colossians 1:16 (NWT)
"Because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him."
4. **Old Testament - Jehovah as the Alpha and Omega**
- Passage: Isaiah 44:6 (NWT)
"This is what Jehovah says, the King of Israel and the Repurchaser of him, Jehovah of armies: 'I am the first and I am the last. There is no God but me.'"
- New Testament - Jesus as the Alpha and Omega
- Passage: Revelation 22:13 (NWT)
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
5. **Old Testament - Jehovah as the Savior**
- Passage: Isaiah 43:11 (NWT)
"I-I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior."
- New Testament - Jesus as the Savior
- Passage: Titus 2:13 (NWT)
"While we wait for the happy hope and glorious manifestation of the great God and of the Savior of us, Christ Jesus."
These passages demonstrate similarities between the actions and attributes attributed to Jehovah in the Old Testament and those attributed to Jesus in the New Testament in the context of forgiveness, shepherding, creation, divine titles, and salvation.

And he's supposedly not an individual separate from God and created by him??? ....
Nah ... don't think so ...

This caused me to use what turned out to be very poor arguments and scholarship against them when I originally tried to witness against some JWs I met in college. Who were very sharp and even knew the original languages.
And were more than prepared for everything I tried to throw at them.
@@antonioterrell354 Have you tried to have a Bible study with them. From what I know they can arrange depending on your availability. That's frée of charge. Time, effort and money is nothing compared to what they do, and everytime I see them, they're all happy and cheerful which is opposite on what we see in our society today.
Bible truth vs JWs "truth"? "Jehovah's Witnesses, in their eagerness for Jesus' second coming, *have suggested dates that turned out to be incorrect."* Awake 1993 Mar 22 page4
*Jehovah’s Witnesses have had wrong expectations about when the end would come.* Jan 1, 2013 Watchtower
"Does this admission of making mistakes stamp them [Jehovah's Witnesses] as false prophets? Not at all, for false prophets do not admit to making mistakes." Watchtower, Nov. 1, 1972, page 644 - in brackets added (any scriptures for this "admitting to mistakes" means no they aren't false teachings, false prophecies?)
Admitting to making false prophecies doesn't magically change them, they are still Bible defined false prophecies (Deut 18:20-22) Very poor reasoning, probably why JWs "suggested dates" and went beyond scripture.
"suggested dates, wrong expectations" in God's name? yes, these ARE false prophecies from the Jehovah Witness Organization.
God's channel of communications, his voice on earth, God's mouthpiece, JWs? Nope, just a false religion!
Why should anyone accept a Bible study from a religion who decade after decade makes false spiritual utterances, false teachings, false prophecies? "It is the Day of Vengeance, which began in the world war of 1914 and which *will break like a furious morning storm in 1918.”* (The Finished Mystery, 1917, p. 404)
*"Shortly, within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin* against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom." (The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah p. 216 1971) [can be found in the book and on their website]
"He was laying a foundation for a work *that would be completed in our 20th century".* (Watchtower 1989 Jan 1 p.12)
(The 1989 Watchtower used the term "in our 20th century" in the magazine, but this was changed to "in our day" for the bound volume and subsequent CD library and website. Compare the magazine version to the bound volume and website version.)
@@meow-ge7xk Admit it, you're a JW, lol
I love the comparison from psalm to Hebrews. Looks like they missed one 😅
I read psalms 102 and compared it to Hebrews chapter 1 AND chapter 2 and to my understanding there is clearly a distinction between jehovah and jesus....
One simple question to ask a JW. Do you believe in hell or not? Cause either Jesus is a liar or hes not. Jesus spoke more about hell than heaven.
they do. their conception of hell (gehenna in hebrew) is that its likeness to fire is destructive, not torturous.
@@xxxViceroyxxx Thats not true just google do jehova's witnesses believe in hell
To be clear, JWs believe the term "Hell" as an abbreviation of "Helan" meaning "the unseen place" in the old English dialect. Would agree with its use as a descriptive translation of the Hebrew "sheol" or the Greek "hades" in scripture. The common grave of mankind.
Though "hell" is obsolete language today. ...
"Hell" meaning a supposed underground fiery abode where disembodied wicked immortal souls of the dead are eternally tormented by Satan and the demons.
JWs reject that as based on unscriptural pagan mythology ...
@@antonioterrell354 i have not heard of this "helan." my research indicates "hell" is derived from greek "kolasj." theologically, it is the same as "gehenna," which is the hebrew language term used to describe the same thing.
contrary to popular understanding, "sheol/hades" is not the same as "gehenna/hell." james white himself affirms the position that hell, being the 2nd death, means no one is in hell right now and never has been. the dead are resting in sheol awaiting their final judgement.
@@antonioterrell354 Then they never read the story of Lazarus and the richman
Wow!
JWs don't say "Bless you"
That's true.
