You should check out Last Podcast On The Left - goes even farther with the humour, and more in depth on the topics. I've often found myself asking, "how can I possibly be laughing at this horrific detailed crime?!?" while listening to those tree lads. Found Mike later and he's like the visual, "safe for work" version of them. ♥️🍍

@@tagaway6173 Hey that's a great question! If you're just looking to get a feel for them, scroll through the episodes for something that catches your attention. They've covered many of the same cases Mike has here, for example Mark Twitchell.
Their series on the BTK killer is very very good, and my personal favourite is the creepypasta episode, "then who was phone"
Keep in mind it's actually a podcast, but most episodes can be found on the UA-cam channel LPOTL (no idea if it's their official one lmao). They're also on Spotify and podcast apps, and their official website has the episodes categorized with direct download of the mp3 files.

Florida is a messy place, but they also make all arrest records public, so you do hear about all the crazy crimes people are arrested for. I'm sure every state and country has some insane criminals running about but you don't hear about it, get the names of those people and pictures to go with it.
However, Canada is still top ranking for me. We're a large country by area, but only have under 30 million total poluation. I live in a place called Labrador, which is about as big as the state of California with a population of about 25,000 people. California has a total population about equal to the entirety of Canada, so it stands out even more when you hear about such horrific crimes being committed here.

Sidenote but my parents also had to continue living together for a few months after they decided to split up and if there are any parents reading this - as a child of a situation like that (minus the murder) - PLEASE don't keep living together unless your break up is extremely amicable. PLEASE don't do that to your kids. Stay at friends and family's houses while you split the bills. But don't do it. You do irreparable damage. Take a week to transition out and then go. Please.

    Survival Rules During Separation
1- Don’t remain living under the same roof with your soon ex to be. So don’t start the separation until you have a place to go and enough money to survive a couple of months after the separation.
2- If you are legally married, DON’T start dating until the divorce is totally completed. Dating before the completion is considered cheating (like it or not).
3- Is safer and healthy to wait at least a couple of months before dating again.
4- Keep your new dating low profile for a while.

Not always. 1-did that. 2-did that. 3-nope. 4-nope. Married for 20 years now to the guy I met while still in joint house. Relationship with ex - pretty non-existent but we have no kids. Would be friendly if we ran into each other. We both were done with marriage. All of these rules aren’t really real rules. Murder has happened with couples where they were together and the victim thought things were fine. Where victim did everything you said above. Happened in every circumstance you can think of between people. There are no rules except maybe stay away from people who seem really unstable. But then again there are people walking around today that were involved with unstable people. It is almost like after watching a ton of these that you can’t really tell who is going to murder you. Who is just going to make your life hell. I would say odds are greater with someone in your life that is obviously violent and controlling but even then I think better to get away because that is a miserable way to live.

A perfect example of why I get so annoyed at people asking if the suspect took a polygraph. They are not worth shit. Both of them failed. Sadly investigators use these stupid tests to clear suspects or focus solely on them. They shouldn't even be allowed as an investigative tool. They measure if a person gets nervous or not. I would fail everytime if I was in a an interrogation room being accused of murder. I have a tendency to get overly emotional when someone accuses me of something I didn't do. I would fail miserably if I was close to a victim and and being accused. Actually I get angry. Which would cause a definite spike in the stupid test.

More true and devastating then most come to know. Unfortunately my Uncle was convicted for murder, the jury said it was "the polygraph that took away their 'reasonable doubt.'" He was locked up for YEARS before he got his freedom.....themurderer was eventually confessed. My Uncle wasn't released for an additional 3 years AFTER the truth was known because the D.A. didn't want to concede. He wasn't awarded in a lawsuit, didn't receive an apology or even have his record completely esponged (still shows the arrest) and spent the rest of his life (until his passing....he was in a hotel in another state, after spending the morning AND afternoon in hearings) trying to ensure that EVERY state wouldn't be allowed to use polygraphs to suede a jury. He's a hero in and of his own right and was part of a movement that helped change the system in such a small but impactful way.

Tara Briggs as soon as the episode began I figured the EX Hus did it. She humiliated him essentially, and with 2 kids ya can’t just bail and move away to a different city or whatever. Steve was a ticking time bomb...she shoulda factored that in as well. Why keep living with him? Oh well, real shame for those kids

Crystal’s family endured almost two years of waiting before the trial of Steven McDowell began in June. Immediately, their spirits were tested when Lieck described to the jury that Crystal was a doomed soul whose parents named her after their drug of choice, crystal methamphetamine.
“That isn’t true. She was named by her grandmothers,” says Walters.
Also. The kids live now with crystals high school girlfriend of 8 years. They remained good friends.
Her uncle Jeff was infuriated with the sheriffs department for not taking it seriously. It was so bad that her ex husband got 50 years because the DA didn’t want to call Jeff to the stand because of their drama and then the DA didn’t expect the ex husband to take the stand and she says she regrets not talking to the uncle and putting him on the stand to this day. No one was happy with 50 years.
A lot of different info. And like I said on another post. The daughter who was five testified. She saw her father kill her mother.

Well, families love writing their own history in hindsight. Perhaps she was named by her grandmothers, perhaps the crystal meth version is true. We'll never know for sure and it doesn't really make a difference.
No matter which version is true, I think it's safe to say that her parents were pretty fucked up people and that many of Crystal's relationship problems were caused by them. Seems like she wasn't able to form healthy relationships and often chose partners who were mentally unstable.
So yeah, even if it's just speculation, I also think she probably could still be alive if her parents wouldn't have been irresponsible meth junkies.
      Greetings from Germany!

Jeez, what a damned shame. Many people (most?) that went through what she went through as a young child would become non-functioning adults. Yet, with the help of her uncle, she made something of herself, stayed healthy, was loved by everyone, and Mr Insecure went and offed her because she dared offer a critique of his bedroom performance. Just heartbreaking. I hope her kids are being well-looked after and somehow find peace.

I don't know if you can say insecure when she was indeed screwing hundreds of people during the entire relationship, and staying in the house while continuing to screw dozens more and making sure he knew she didn't love him. Don't get me wrong, I think he deserves the death penalty. He obviously felt if he couldn't have her no one could. It's just weird to see women constantly calling people insecure, like nobody has a dictionary.

And his CHOICE to continue wearing the wedding ring for over 6 months AFTER their divorce, yet PRETENDING to himself that he/they STILL a chance, in fact DOES show he was INSECURE about the failure of their marriage and/or that his "manhood" status had been jeopardized because she was enjoying her life without him. He COULD'VE taken the ring off, put himself out there and met someone new OR he COULD'VE put his efforts into his job or whatever other endeavors tickled his fancy, but he CHOSE to KILL the INNOCENT Mother of his children simply because she DIDN'T want to be with HIM anymore and he COULDN'T handle her being happy without him!
