Appreciate this video so much. I was scratching my head for hours wondering why the displacement I've baked looked dark and flat like it was just a normal map. Didn't know about the 3 options and that it is on Bump by default. Thank you very much.
Your procedural texture tutorials might be one of the best things for any blender user. Very helpful and flowing, easy to follow and most importantly easy to understand and learn the "why does this thing do that?". Love it!
I use blender mainly for 3d printing, as a replacement for cad programs, so this video isn't much help, but you have such an amazing teaching gift that I watch many of your videos with interest without scrolling. I wish I had such teachers in school ;)
between this two methods, image texture and procedural texture with displacement, the procedural way could be more convenient if I have a not so powerful GPU? I've tried with image texturing and I am always running out of GPU memory (also decreased noise threshold, samples, render size, etc). thanks for this great video!
Your tutorial is amazing and easy to follow, and I would like to know if there is a possibility to apply this to a vertex group as in the displacement modifier ?
Thank you for your excellent informative and easy to follow tutorials. Is it possible to convert a very detailed image such as a fractal to a mesh object using your displacement method as demonstrated in this video? I am using photoshop to convert a fractal to greyscale .png file but so far I haven't found a way to produce a reasonable mesh. My goal is to convert the mesh to .stl suitable for 3D printing. If displacement is not the right approach could you please suggest another blender strategy. Thank you.
Hey Ryan! sorry to bother you but i have a question, can these shadings exported to unreal engine 5 without any error ? because everytime i learn something new in the shading editor i relize later that it doesn't work correctly with unreal. Thanks again for these awesome tutorials.
In order to use a procedural material in a game engine or another 3d software, you will need to bake the material out to texture maps. Check out my tutorial on how to do that here: ua-cam.com/video/B2kFeMBBBjc/v-deo.html
Congrats! Now we gotta see where the future will take us now because this is just the beggining. Also get ready for that silver play button to come in lol.
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Here an issue that I'm trying to fix, the displacement works perfect in the render shader in 3d viewport, but is gone when I press f12 or just simply doesnt work properly, only happens with f12 render. Do you know what could be my error ? I have tried everything I saw in this tutorial and so many others without success. Maybe I miss something ? Thanks for your support and your time ! 🙏
I have the same problem sadly. Works perfectly in the viewport, but I get a lot of artifacts when I render with F12... can't figure out solution yet (I use Blender 4.1)
Hey bro a little question, when I apply the modifier with the adaptative subdivision it just dissappear all the subd and let my objet flat again, any suggestion???
Hey,great video as always! i was just wondering if you can make a video on how to make models look detailed in the renderrer but not in the viewport if you get what i mean
Hi bro, im not seeing slot1, material.001 etc in my texture node editor !! can you pl guide me on how to see Material.001 in the texture node editor... (im using Blender ver 5.1)

Thank you. If you can prepare adaptive displacement tutorial in a scene with UV mapped objects, it would be a very worthwhile tutorial. Example: House from rock, cultural heritage artifacts made of limestone, wooden inlaid works that are handicraft products.
thank you for all tutorial you make I wech in the future you make a tutorial of archviz eevee interior and exterior for small house. real time render and walk navegation inside and around the small house.
Thanks a lot for your tutorial. Today is the day that you are going to reach 100k subs. May I ask you, if you have any special tutorial for the milestone?

You are a hardworking fella, and your work is definitely helping out the community. Keep that in mind and keep up the good work. Thank you !
thank you very much!
Great to see this explained correctly for a change.

Not getting tired of thanking you. Thank you man 👍
you're welcome!
100,000 subscribers reached! Congratulations Ryan, you've very much earned them after all your hard work!
Thank you very much! 😀
Congrats! Ryan, 100K🤩
Yes I just reached it!! Thanks!
As always extremely helpful breakdown! thanks for covering such a wide range of topics!
glad you like it!
Excellent tutorial! Would love to see a geometry nodes teaching the basics and most important nodes, like you did with compositing. Keep up!
thanks for the tutorial idea!
I'm following another of your tutorials right now lol.
Cool! Thank you for watching my videos 😀
Damn. Your good. Good pace. Good info. Sounds small but it’s a game changer. Thank you sir.
thanks for watching!
will this apply to stls exported ? im trying to export a mesh with a woodgrain teexture

Hopefully you can make more about geometry nodes 👍👍
Yeah I'd like to make more Geometry node tutorials. Did you see the one I made on the alien orb?
You’re a blessing
glad to hear that!
I'm really looking forward to when they make support for displace in Eevee.
I just released a video on how to use the displacement modifier, and that does work in eevee! : )

is it possible to randomize the mortar topography or make the pattern parallel to the bricks rather than perpendicular?
Well that would depend on the image texture that your using.
Hi, when Im using displacement, the textures strech on the edges where it is 90º, why is that?

Do i need to uv unwrap a mesh if i create procedural materials?
no, you don't have to, you could use the object coordinates instead.
@@RyanKingArt thank you
I see no displacement settings in the material section.... do you have to activate these?
make sure your using the cycles render engine.

when I add the modifer and change to bump and displacment nothing happens to my plane.
did you make sure to turn on the Displacement and Bump in the materials settings like I go over in the video? Also make sure your in Cycles render.

thank you!
Cant see displacement and bump option under settings
make sure you are using cycles render engine

thanks!
blender 4 dont have displacement in material setting
yes it does. Make sure you're using the Cycles render engine. Its not there in Eevee.
There is guy who was using Displacement in EvE, but after beaking texture and plunin in all on replacement of nodes
what do you mean by beaking texture?
