    I'm glad that I'm not the only person that likes the look of plywood edges. I built a desk and a table with the top of both of them having the plywood edge exposed. As long as there aren't any voids that are too large to fill, I think it looks nice.

    My daughter and I love your videos! Soon we will have our daddy/daughter workshop that we can make little UA-cam videos for kids her age to watch. She wants to make flags, cutting boards, and small furniture. You have inspired her through this journey. Thank you for what you do. You are shaping kids lives.

    It's so cute and little but def does not take away from the gorgeous outcome. Also love how you gave props to Michael Alm. Some UA-camrs just say they "saw it somewhere" knowing damn well where they got inspired from. In his video he does several plywood patterns which turned out amazing too. This project is definitely an inspo. Keep em' coming and hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy!! Take care

    I believe if you had pieces for the same sheet of ply you would have not had issues! Nice work it looks 👍

      I actually think I’m hindsight the issue is with the kerf after you cut. The diamonds will most likely never line up because the blade cuts out a small chunk in between each pattern ... all good though! Total learning experience. Thank you! 😊

    Looks awesome. I did a similar project once and used RE magnets in the bottom of the shelf instead. This also work great instead of hooks.

    Great little project for these times. I'm like everyone else who collects scrap wood except mine is overflowing my shop. I've been thinking about taking all my scraps of like type and size and gluing them into full size boards for some kind of project. I just haven't done it yet. Stay safe and have a Happy Easter.     You did an amazing job! really. Congratulations, the only thing (for me) it wouldn't work is not symmetrical, as am so diagnosed OCD, I needed equal pattern at the end... you know what I meant. but really really amazing.

      I feel you! It’s actually REALLY hard to get that to work with the diamond pattern because the blade takes a 1/16” chunk out of the wood when cutting the pattern. So, there will always be a small chunk missing from the pattern, which makes us super hard to match everything up perfectly. 😫

    Pro Tip: After applying your glue, a small amount of salt will prevent the strips from moving during the clamping phase. Also, very beautiful piece!

    How do you line up the final gluing of pieces after cutting the chevrons. I have one on the go here and it appears that removing a 1/8" cut for the blade the pieces will not match?

    Would this idea make a good cutting board? Or Butcher Block? Or would the plywood be a problem?

      I would probably shy away from using plywood for a cutting board because it's so porous and doesn't do well with moisture. Would be cool to try this with hardwoods though!

      @@diyhuntress Yes that could be cool. Say using veneers of three or four kinds of wood. Laminated 50 times. until it comes out some what like up have. Could come out very cool.

      Yesss! I was honestly shocked by how strong everything was. I thought it was going to break when I trimmed it on the miter saw.

    Kind of reminds me of spackling Sheetrock, put it on, sand it off put it on, sand it off. Glue it together cut it apart glue it together ! Lol

      I used 3/4” plywood for this project and cut them into 1” strips for the first round panel. Hope that helps!

    Scrapwood? I reject the premise. Whether it is in the rack, the wood cart or a cut-off bin it's just wood I haven't used yet. It isn't scrap wood until it is in the trash can, and even then not a done deal until it is hauled off.

    No woodworker worth their salt throws out any “scrap” wood (no such thing as scrap wood ! Lol only fall off or off cuts :)
