@GettingSoberAgain thank you SOOO much! I really appreciate it! I didn't set out to do a certain number of days. I just said I would keep going as long as possible. I did the same thing when I stopped eating meat and now I'm at a year and 3 months on that!🤣🙌🏽
I was 10 months sober yesterday. I’ve found that cravings for drink are sporadic; they tend to mostly leave me alone. But they can be sneaky and then I’ll find myself lusting after a drink around Friday night especially after I’ve worked hard or done something clever. I think that I deserve a reward for being a “good boy”. The feeling doesn’t last long because I review the non-drinking rewards that I’ve accumulated: waking up feeling great, being clear headed (well most of the time), having more disposable income, not having to spend time planning my next drink, not having to apologise for foolishness while drunk and enjoying the new found feeling of wellbeing and happiness. Nah I can’t be like you Jae and keep up with old drinking buddies and hang out at bars. Those days are done for me. Thanks Jae for the encouragement and good luck to all getting and staying sober. 😁😁😁
At 12 days today, weird how I can be motivated and happy that I didnt drink last night, then two hours later Mr Hyde comes out and I want to continue down a path that I am cogizantly aware of as self destructive. Its like a war with myself, wild stuff.
Just be aware of the difference between the mind and the brain. There are two separate entities, one makes you you, the other just holds the wiring for your physical vessel. So just think of yourself it's my brain that's wanting it not me❤
Drinking has recently become a problem for me. I am in my late 60's and only had a bit of wine at holiday dinners over the years. I believe COVID isolation, working from home and the ready availability of alcohol has been a huge reason. I can have a craving and before giving it a chance to subside, I will immediately order wine and it will be at my home in 30 minutes. I'll keep trying though. Wish me luck!
I am 3 days from 2 months and my cravings have been off the charts these past few days. Logically I know drinking will not add anything to my life, but my brain still thinks its how to have a good time. With Thanksgiving and my B-day in 3 days, its really tough. Thank you for these videos.
Today I’m grateful that the desire to drink has been completely removed. I’m now a little over 2yrs sober after being an alcoholic from my teens right through my entire adult life. The addiction still exists within me but I’ve redirected it in to health and fitness. I believe addiction can either be a super power or it can be our kryptonite. Once I learned to harness it and channel it towards a healthy outlet things changed massively for me and the desire to consume alcohol faded in to the background. A healthy outlet is key to feeling whole once the drinking stops I believe. You can’t fill a void with more emptiness. All the best everyone ❤
Hey Jae. It takes 12 weeks for your gaba receptors to repair. This is the key reason you feel anxious and depression. Obviously depends on how much you were drinking.
Had no cravings...traded them for bags of cookies, ice-cream, Dunkin Donuts..BUT taught myself to use a computer within 3 months that my brother thought would take me a year! Focus!
I drank around 2-3 to 6 drinks in a session once a week to twice a month for years. Multiple times I tried to quit, so many times, and I went back. The cravings when I finally went sober lasted for 5 months. It's not too common I don't think, but it can happen!! After that time though, it really does get so much easier. Around a year sober now (can't even remember the day or week I last drank, just the month), and the desire to pick up a drink is gone. Life is so much better and I didn't even have a massive problem. It can still be worth it to stop. Life genuinely gives you more joy without it.
This video really helped me, thank you for sharing this! I am on Day 126 sober today thanks to your videos and wisdom! I am a Christian too and I love how you put it in this video, "Jesus is my representative to the Universe". That is a great way to put it, it can be so hard to express to people what my relationship with God is or even what my understanding of God is! Sometimes I feel like Santa in the "Violent Night" movie (Have you seen it? It is pretty great!) when he says, "Its Christmas magic, I don't really know how it works." I feel like that about God sometimes, I am not sure how it works but it works for me!
You said it! It's not for us to know it's for us to have faith. I was happy to share that statement on Jesus, and I'm glad that someone finally said something about it lol I'm glad you like the topic, we just added a new video on alcohol cravings last night, check it out: ua-cam.com/video/1hgGNeXmDR0/v-deo.html
Very hepful video Jae. Especially for the people in the first 3 months. I had quit but would make 3 nights then drink ....But I'm realizing in the mornings after not drinking how good I feel. Wow. Just the anxiety and depression going away is helping me. Im doing this! 🌞. Ps and yes $ 10,000 to get a DUI completely off my record was pricey. 😊
I really like what you said about your name meaning “healer”. I think there is a reason that bookmark stuck with you and I think it’s really cool that you want to try to help others heal now with your wisdom and your own experience.:) I enjoy your videos a lot. They have helped me quite a bit. Thank you.

Hey, thanks for the kind words! Congratulations on 7 weeks!! That was about the time that I was really feeling like I had control over the cravings. Best of luck to you!
Your statements are true, I have noticed at week one I want to nap which is unusual. In the future will I again? No not if I am smart I have tried that, go two months sober. "I have done so good I can get one six pack this Friday and chill." Three beers down and I get up to buy another six pack before I am too drunk to drive or be refused, then right back to a 30 pack. Work is a big one as you stated. Dr. Peterson put it this way. If you love your job in two years you will age two years, but if you hate your job in two years you will age five. Currently I hate my job at wally-world as my car is about to break down. My goal for betterment is a CDL and higher wages to get what I want and that does not include booze or weed. Thanks for the information that the brain can repair as I feel that fog and wondered if it was permanent.
I'm at almost 4 months and still get cravings. Mainly cuz I'm in a band and it's around alot. Got a big tour coming up in May and hoping most he cravings are gone.

"CA-BREWING!!!" Hahahahaaa LOL!!! but yeah, Im sober for 24 days and I am super uncomfortable navigating ALL of the drinking possibilities that arise... AND my sober friends are BORING OMG!!! I can't wait to get home to wash the stress of acting "OK" around the worlds most boring people. 2 days ago, MY "drinking buddy" came over my house with a six-pack and slammed three of them before she headed off to what use to be OUR local hangout. I mean, I TOLD her she could drink around me but GOTDAMMM that was hard to watch her drink on my couch...without me. oooooooooof! I don't like this. I'm against it. You were right... my 2 week "honeymoon phase" is SOOOO OVERRRRRR!!! yuk yuk yuk I want to take a sleeping pill and not wake up for a year till this shit is GONE.
Life is still gonna life. But the difference is, we will be more equipped to deal with the BS, set personal boundaries, and move in the direction that we are MEANT TO BE!

Stay busy. nap if you have to. It would take you all the way until January 20th just to get back to where you are right now. You really wanna throw that away?
He has a lots of great indeas but why not make your own way to quit drinking. Cause no human is the same and dont have the same problems in that what like he see it. Forget about him exept the scientific facts. But I rather see him as a good entairtarner with a hell of self confidence. Cause the best way I found to totally quit alcohol was, Ive done two times now and it hold me away from alcohol in both 3 and a half year and now this time Ive not been drinking for nearly 9 months. The secret is simple. Focus on all the bad things alcohol does. Nr 1 your are going to loose your job, youre loosing your girl or boyfriend, you feel pain in some organs, nearly loosing your family and your friends have given up on you. So if you what that to change. The most important thing is to use your reasons to not drink! Cause else you will still be in a situation where you dont what to be. So you have to use your disrespect to alcohol cause of the things it does that you disagree. Thats the goal to go after...and then the most important think happens. You get motivated be the thoughs of " I will never drink cause it ALWAYS brings me in the same kind of trouble. Thats very simple and logic. Try it it helped my to not drink for several years
