Thanks Jae, I’m 20 months sober and feel as though I’ve quit for good. I don’t say I couldn’t have done it without you but you and your heavy duty encouragement have been very very helpful. Hey all, checking in. One day down after a long ass detour… no cravings at all, surprisingly. I had done a lot of work, even while drunk, on understanding the underlying issues that cause the need to drink in the first place. I decided I wanted to love myself and take care of my body. The real authentic person that I am is actually pretty cool. I’m kind and loving to others, and I’m going to give myself that gift as well 🙂
My last couple of years before i quick, one year sober now, wasn't drinking heavy, but my craving came back frequently in the summer, but I was able to push through and I don't feel bored as often either. I like feeling sober now. We can do this boys
Life changes, and so do our priorities. We all have to keep in mind that we kept busy drinking, so its up to us keeping busy doing ANYTHING ELSE. And when we change our habits, we change our schedule and standards
I lastly drank on December 5th 2024. I went drunk driving and popped a tire. I completely ignored it and just drove home. Needless to say, my whole tire burned up. That was my turning point.
4.5 months sober 😊 My sleep has improved so much! At 55, and after years of poor sleep, I sleep almost like a kid again. It didn’t happen overnight though, it took 2 months or so. There was an initial improvement, but after the two months mark I began sleeping like I hadn’t in decades . Couldn’t be happier! My moods are so much even too
A good night of rest is so underrated these days. I think it's because most people just don't know anymore what it's supposed to feel like. 55 is the new 40! We have plenty of people in this community who WISH they were only 55, but getting sober much later. Make the most of it!
I’m a little over 3 weeks sober. I wouldn’t say that I feel amazing yet but it’s definitely nice not being hungover every single day. Y’all keep up the good work!
I quit 4 months ago. The cravings for food and sugar are what I'm dealing with now. I have to watch myself that I don't overdo it. But everything else is ALOT better with the way I feel since I quit. Thanks for your videos they helped me tremendously.
Start drilling it into your mind "let food be thy medicine". There's no problem with eating, and you can eat a LOT as long as it's quality foods. Whole foods, fruits, veggies, lean meats and proteins. I enjoy the occasional sweet treat, sub sandwich, burger and fry, pizza, etc, but I only allow myself to have these foods that aren't good for me, to be less than 25% of my total food intake. Sugar hacks your brain. almost everybody here, has to fight the sugar craving after getting sober. A lot of people will put on excess weight because of it after getting sober. A simple hack for getting your sweet treats in without feeling guilty is: Make a huge bowl of fruit salad. which means going to the store and buying all organic (yes it matters) Of your favorite fruits. cutting them, slicing them, peeling them etc. just put everything into a big bowl, and whenever you want your sweet treat, you can have a guilt-free serving of fruit which has vitamins, minerals, nutrients, fiber, water and things that your body actually needs ✅
Start doing Keto and quit eating carbs. The cravings will go away after a few weeks and you will feel better than ever. Changing to fat and protein as fuel won't be nice, but just have the patience to reset your body.
I'm 8 days alcohol free after drinking daily for 12ish years, and almost 3 weeks no Marijuana after smoking for about 20 yr. I already feel much different and better! Your videos have been much help, thanks!
@@GettingSoberAgain nope, but I can tell you I am sleeping more soundly, IE not getting up as often in the night, and falling aleep faster when I go to bed.

Only two things I got out of going sober was a bit more money and I stopped getting night cramps. I put down the lack of night cramps to improved hydration.
Being sober just over 2 Years-2 things stand out from this Video. The money I’m not spending on liquor & other Substances adds up very quickly in the bank account. You become flush with money to spend on productive items that actually contribute towards a healthy lifestyle. The second is that your body actually recovers. It’s like decompressing where all your functions become normal again. It’s sad all the money I wasted on my Toxic lifestyle. I was spending money and harming myself. I’m lucky I got through it because some of my friends still haven’t found their way out.
I’m getting blood work done in a couple of weeks, super nervous but it was something I was putting off for years so it’s the first step. It’ll be about 1 month then 😅
Outstanding as usual Jae! You get helping get back up! More up than down in 2024 since I declared war on alcohol! Drank a few times over vacation. Not as fun as I thought it would be. 🤮 So no drinking for 5 days and I’m back in the gym, eating right and SLEEPING sooo much better! Watching you EVERY day and trying to get my neighbor (drinking buddy) to join me too! We are both old salts! Thank you Jae!!!
Started the 75 hard challenge just on Jan 2nd. So also 85 days without alcohol. Here in cologne we have the tradition of carnival which basically consists of 5 days of drinking …. But I will stay strong… (failed it 2 years ago when I tried it the last time)
Almost 1 year sober. Ordered a 0.0% beer (said the menu) but it was 0,4%. I tasted it and after that sip, I gave it back to the waitress. I only drink ocasional 0.0 beers, I dont want to cross the old lines… I am not going to test my old self. I cant live with that anymore. My wife and son were so proud, as do I! Keep it strong people, you can do it ❤
I got sober .... Again on new year day. I never really understood my partner's reaction to me when I had a drink until Ive seen my mother drunk, embarrassing and annoying. I have so many reasons to get sober, I love keeping fit then I let myself down by getting really drunk. I went four months last year without drinking,I was gaining muscle,I looked 10 years younger. I want to be that man again.
I get that life is hard, and as we find out...so too are becoming worth of receiving blessings. You KNOW the formula to win, so now, it's simply a sweet SCIENCE!
@@GettingSoberAgain keep on with these great videos. You are a great help. I'm from Sheffield England and even though you are thousands of miles away, I feel like you are a friend. Thank you
@@garrybuxton4483 That's my goal with the videos. To feel like you're just having a conversation with someone who's been there and cares about your success
Well, you can quit and never find out. Earn it, don't be a victim, be victorious. Anger is par for the course. Baby wants a bottle, nothing unexpected right? Everyone around the world who is quitting alcohol, or nicotine, or drugs right now is also going through similar feelings
This is my 2nd or 3rd day four over the past 3-4 weeks. I can go a few days then fall off the wagon. I want continue on this journey to get sober for me and my children. I’m not happy with myself as just over 3-1/2 years ago I was very very healthy. I was a MMA fighter, I have a job, but after work, trained hard for years, could run 10 miles easily every Saturday morning and then put in 2-3 hour training sessions 6 nights a week. I had a fighters body and shape. Once I laid my gloves down, I went into a depression because training and competing was lifestyle for 10 years. I started drinking heavily on weekends, then gradually made to where I would drink heavily every day after work. 12-18 pack of 16oz beer(sometimes more) every night for the past 2 years. Now I’ve had to have my gallbladder removed and constant pains in my abdomen and liver. Side note, if I hurt then I need to pay attention and being a retired fighter, my pain tolerance is through the roof as I have fought and trained with broken bones, etc…I’m tired of hurting, started easing up off the booze for a couple of months but really got serious about it over the past 3 weeks. Your videos have helped and encouraged me so much and I’m trying to be patient. I’m feeling better but not out of the woods yet! I still have pains but believing I’ll start feeling better internally and am going to get an appointment with my doctor to let them know my health concerns and get labs and a check up! Thank you Jae!
Think of it like a training camp for a fight. put in a solid 12 weeks and apply that same discipline and willpower that you used to stay active, busy, and prepared while cutting weight....to getting sober. It's an age old story, the retired fighter who bloats up chasing the same highs from their fighting days. This is your Rocky moment. THIS is your montage. make this your motto: The next 12 weeks, for the rest of my life. We are rooting for you!
@@GettingSoberAgain Definitely! It’s a battle for sure and I know this battle. I got sober 20 years ago at the age of 22. Over these past 5 days, I took one of your tips when I have cravings. I’ll put on one of your vids and find something to do around the house. I need to clean my home gym from being a storage room and get that bag workout in and hit them weights again.
15 days sober so far. I still occasionally dream about drinking at my favorite bars. Hopefully this will stop altogether. I’m done with that lifestyle.
Just like the dreams you had after other breakups, they go away. We can't really control what shows up subconsciously. For example, I dreamt that my dad was a dying fish last night (he's already dead, and was never a fish). It was sad, but it passed, I woke up with mixed emotions, and thanked him for visiting. Be thankful that the dream wasn't reality, right? It's a common thing to dream about smoking after quitting, or drinking after quitting, or using, or being with another partner. You'll be alright =)
Fun fact: I had a complete health test after my first six months sober and the doctor said "I see you are a healthy man. Your biological age is about 35 years. Congrats". And I was 53 at that moment!!!
Happy New Year Jae 2025! Still listening to; still haven’t succeeded in getting sober - can I have one person send me a friend request? Just want to see if anyone in the community is reaching out … it might help to know someone cares … I just want to let go of alcohol before I’m gone forever … Thank you so much for all the great help …❤

this may sound dumb, but one of the goals i set for myself is that every time i want or feel like a drink, i take that money for the beer/wine i woulda spent & put it in a tin called 'my sober synthesizer' i picked out a synth i want. every bottle of red or six pack i woulda drank is a step towards that piece of kit. i done the maths, and i'm looking at 4-5 months to fund the synth. as a bonus, my body & mind will be in a better state to use the synth lol i went for 2 months without drink or drugs last year when i lost a job & tbh, it's the best i've felt for years. made so much music & slept better. then one night.. it all collapsed. but it was 'proof of concept' so all i have to do is knuckle down & stick to it. i REALLY want that synth lol
setting aside, your alcohol money for tangible items is a great idea! And speaking of being creative, You might want to check out the video I put out a while back called: " Will I lose my creativity after getting sober?" ua-cam.com/video/YjSLM1HUOZY/v-deo.htmlsi=NlxRW-9VrPoUBBKT
22 days in and hoping this brain fog and fatigue eases up. Starting a new job of all places at a rehabilitation center in Wednesday and the 12 hour shifts are going to be rough. Haha
What's your exercise routine looking like? even after all these years, I KNOW I need to get my blood flowing multiple times a day. Even exotic cars kept in garages need to turnover from time to time car🏎️
@GettingSoberAgain well, before the sobriety it wasn't great. Haha I didn't exercise at all and frankly I didn't care. A couple months ago I was hoping I'd have a heart attack or find blood in my urine so I could be finished with this world. I ate junk food and did absolutely nothing for myself health wise, which I've seen you mention how our inhibitions go out the window when we drink.. so I felt that. I ballooned a good 50 pounds since my unemployment had started. Long winded answer, but I've since started hiking on a regular basis. Mostly urban hiking because I've started finding so many things that either I'd missed from perspective or been so dazed from hangovers I'd just never taken the time to really see what's around me. I've found so many cool little things here and there.. weeping willow trees (that aren't common here), homemade statues, and crazy spray paint artwork. But other times I'll go to our state park and the other day I walked on a dried lake bed and found some petrified wood! Lol. Plus the dogs love it too. I lift a few dumbbells at my apt as well, but I need to join a gym and get more serious about it. You're right though, before I started drinking I was 170 and now at 36 I'm closer to 300. But I'm just this short time I feel lighter on my feet and I don't look as bloated. I feel better than before strength wise most days.. but then the fatigue hits others. What about you? I notice in your older vids the alcohol never seemed to pack on the weight that it does for most. From my calorie counter I've not drank 38000 calories so far and I'm not even month. Can't wait for month six.

Very good insights. What a wonder, that we PAID to feel like sh#t!
I’m getting blood work done in a couple of weeks, super nervous but it was something I was putting off for years so it’s the first step. It’ll be about 1 month then 😅
Oh yes...the dread of realizing WE Fxxed up lol I remember all too well
@ Yup, being the clean up crew for your own mess 🤣
Outstanding as usual Jae! You get helping get back up! More up than down in 2024 since I declared war on alcohol! Drank a few times over vacation. Not as fun as I thought it would be. 🤮 So no drinking for 5 days and I’m back in the gym, eating right and SLEEPING sooo much better! Watching you EVERY day and trying to get my neighbor (drinking buddy) to join me too! We are both old salts! Thank you Jae!!!
@@Joe_Joe_The_HvacMan Leading by example is a great strategy for success! Keep up the positive momentum and keep those positive comments coming 😁
10 days in but I have to go to a wedding tomorrow. Gonna be hard but I’m not giving in
Patiently waiting the successful notch in your belt update!
Your an angel. Thank you.
a better question 🙋🏻 might be: “how long before my body gives up if I don’t stop … ?”
I think we all did a fine enough job with that kind of self experimentation 🧑⚕️🩺😷🩻
Started the 75 hard challenge just on Jan 2nd.
So also 85 days without alcohol.
Here in cologne we have the tradition of carnival which basically consists of 5 days of drinking …. But I will stay strong… (failed it 2 years ago when I tried it the last time)
I very much like doing the opposite of the masses too =)
Almost 1 year sober.
Keep it strong people, you can do it ❤
Integrity is earned, and you sir, have it!
@ thanks 🙏🙏🙏
@@GettingSoberAgain enjoy the rest of your day, I'm up at 4.30, 2 mile walk to the gym, work then the same walk home. Take care
I feel so freaking mad today. I’d think I’d be starting to feel good about myself after 4 days
Your videos have helped and encouraged me so much and
I’m trying to be patient.

Definitely!
Whoot! 🛌 merci beaucoup 🍵
😁😁😁
@@GettingSoberAgain ur right J. I’m glad I found this channel. Thank u sir
Thank u ❤
Fun fact: I had a complete health test after my first six months sober and the doctor said "I see you are a healthy man. Your biological age is about 35 years. Congrats". And I was 53 at that moment!!!
Holy MOLY! Start selling your DNA!
Five days! ❤️

4 months back 1/7 💃🏽👑💖🍭
Welcome back 4 months 🫵
this may sound dumb, but one of the goals i set for myself is that every time i want or feel like a drink, i take that money for the beer/wine i woulda spent & put it in a tin called 'my sober synthesizer'
i picked out a synth i want. every bottle of red or six pack i woulda drank is a step towards that piece of kit. i done the maths, and i'm looking at 4-5 months to fund the synth. as a bonus, my body & mind will be in a better state to use the synth lol
i went for 2 months without drink or drugs last year when i lost a job & tbh, it's the best i've felt for years. made so much music & slept better. then one night.. it all collapsed. but it was 'proof of concept' so all i have to do is knuckle down & stick to it.
i REALLY want that synth lol
setting aside, your alcohol money for tangible items is a great idea!
And speaking of being creative, You might want to check out the video I put out a while back called:
" Will I lose my creativity after getting sober?"

hello Jae
22 days in and hoping this brain fog and fatigue eases up. Starting a new job of all places at a rehabilitation center in Wednesday and the 12 hour shifts are going to be rough. Haha
What's your exercise routine looking like? even after all these years, I KNOW I need to get my blood flowing multiple times a day. Even exotic cars kept in garages need to turnover from time to time car🏎️
@GettingSoberAgain well, before the sobriety it wasn't great. Haha
I didn't exercise at all and frankly I didn't care.
Can't wait for month six.
the audio was bad too, there's a piercing 16K freq on your first video haha
@@SMELLSLIKENIRVANATRIBUTE hooray for shortcomings
