@ Trey, don't feel bad or alone. A lot of us are facing the reality of living the nomad life style due to the rising cost to live on our income or Homelessness which I feel Nomads are Not. Nomads have a roof over their heads and probably have more dollars left over per month than the average person working 60 hours a week to pay a $1700 -$2100 a month mortgage. Times are hard on most of us, regardless of people being honest about it or not. Keep your head up and don't let anyone or anything pull you down!! You will be alright. Keep moving forward:)

I agree wholeheartedly that going "stealth" has more to do with whether or not you look like your ACTIVELY living in the vehicle, and far less to do with whether your vehicle looks capable of being lived in. I've "stealthed" out of an RV for around 9 months by doing my best to "blend in" with my surroundings and never looking like anyone was actively inside it. I never got the dreaded "knock" from someone telling me to move along. I did my best to look like another parked vehicle that just happened to also be an RV, never stayed in on spot for more than 10 hours and rotated locations so that I never came back to the same spot within 2 weeks.

Have you thought of setting up a 5 acre stealth camp area for those traveling in area. Yes there has to be some rules, but most stealth van lifers live those rules every day. Such as no trash left behind, and 10 hour stay maximum. Noise ordinance.
Wow! Been away for a while, Bro. So many changes! Better video editing, and much better background music. Watched you go from 1100, to 14,000, and up. But 210,000 is insane, Dude. I moved out of an apartment on the beach in Pacifica California and into an economical Toyota Sandtana Pop Up Mini Motor Home. I eventually lived in it for 15 years. Loved it. Unfortunately I had to sell it because it needed work every place I looked. Then I immediately went out and bought another one in better shape. The bed is in the back (no ladders to climb). Wish it was a five speed. Some people criticize RV living but until you have tried it…don’t knock it.
Chrome, thank you for this. Going to do some suv camping, boondocking whatever you want to call it and the whole "where do I pull over to sleep" thing was a big question. Other people cover various places, but you went over your whole though process here. Perfect.
That's true stealth camper entertainment right there! Loved excited the "Ooooos" and the joyful "Here we go" cries as the cars splashes through the flood waters in the road. It was awesome to see you give it a go as well.
From a fellow nomad on the 2,000 miles of English waterways, we don't actually need to be stealthy as such as we can moor up for 14 days anywhere except where it says you can't. But, some towns are more welcoming than others and choosing your spot is just like you say, a gut feeling. I like rural but close to amenities like shops, water and toilet disposal.

The big puddles that accumulate at the road edge, many people here call 'guttersharks' because they bite at your wheels. Fun as hell to drive through but make sure you lightly pump your brakes a few times to dry them out.
Chrome also meant to tell you when you disengage your posi trac , put van in reverse roll back a foot . big trucks have same issue ( what happens is the gears are held together with forward pressure even thoe you disengaged switch . very common issue in big rigs . keep that locker boss
I've noticed many towns with signs prohibiting parking on any street in town between midnight to 5am (or similar) as I've traveled. It creeps me out because I dilengently avoid law enforcement encounters.
This was great to watch!! We are outfitting our SUV to use as an overnighter with our 2 small dogs. 2 hours to the coast….all day walking & enjoying ….who wants the long drive back after supper?? Motels charge enormous pet fees! Ours are no barkers, but I realize why they have to charge…it will be new for us. Not sure if rest stops are safe. So much crime in the Wa- Or areas!! All we want to do is start for home fresh in the morning!
I can sincerely say that when in doubt there are plenty of places where ever there are semi trucks. as a female solo driver i have never had an issue. btw. i love the fact that you are easily amused, the rain is one of my favorite times to be in my van.
One of the most important things my mom taught her kids and grandkids was the joy of playing in puddles: jump, splash, building dams, lots of imagination play.
Omg, I said the same thing!! Thank you!!! I had said to my BFF “I just don’t think there’s such a thing as stealth once you have windows or once your solars are visible. So it’s about not appearing as tho I’m in the van when I’m actually in the van. It’s about “blending in.” But I had no one to validate this. I put a partition between the cabin and cargo area (with NO cabin window blinds up so it looks empty, and just put black outs in the cargo area. Park in places where it looks like you could be visiting a friend or you’ve just gone into the store.”
I just pick a spot in a isolated corner of the parking lot and mind my own business. Works everytime. No one bothers me. Catnapped for a few hours at a Fairbanks, AK Home Depot in June 2017. Did the same in a Walmart parking lot in NH in 2007. Of course the best and safest spots are large truck stops or Welcome Centers.
Hello from Texas. I'm going to turn 68 April 6th and I have wasted too many years wishing and dreaming about getting a converted van, rv, truck camper. I miss my time driving a big rig and since retiring, I have had that itch to travel. I love your ideas and suggestions and maybe you can give us a tour if your van? Thank you for this fantastic video.
I so much want to try the van life. I'll never talk my wife into doing it full-time but I do want to fix our van up a little. Then try it in our driveway, just to get her comfortable with the idea. Life is an adventure I want to experience the van life before my number is called. I'm retired from the military and truck driving so I know all about finding an overnight parking spot. You're right, you can't just open doors and spread out on the sidewalk. Thanks for your videos.

Hey Chrome! Just an FYI, you really need to get some paint on those primer spots on your van! Primer absorbs water and will cause your van to rust again way faster if you leave it unprotected without a top coat of regular paint....especially down around the wheel openings and rockers...Just sayin' Peace out Bro!

Love the video and your enthusiasm for life. I started camping in a box trailer under a tarp progressing to my first van this weekend, which I'll be living on weekends when home from work. This video makes me feel much better about everything. Cheers
I live in the back of an 8' bed pickup truck with cab-high, windowless, plain utility-type aluminum canopy, when I travel to weekend retail events. To stay profitable I've always lived in the back of it. Typically I'll park right there at the fairgrounds I'm at (at one fairgrounds I can even park inside of a barn with lots of 120 VAC, built over the paved parking lot). I've never had a problem, anywhere I've parked for the night: 24 Hour Fitness lots, Walmart lots, etc.
Yeah... Just gotta have a little imagination and a tad of courage, finding places to sleep especially I urban areas like where I'm at 80 percent of the time is really not that difficult.
@@LifewithMaiOfficial okay.. But just don't get courage and cautious confused LOL like Chrome said, when you get that gut feeling? Trust it and move on.. No ifs and absolutely no buts..
Chrome just got my first little car van. MPV, basically a big car that looks like a van inside regarding space. It is brilliant, and the space compared to my little Cheverlot Spark is breath taking. I use to car camp in my tiny Spark and just worked with it even when it wasn't comfortable, loved being able to escape whenever I could, overnight stay or 3 or 4 day stays. I still part-time car camp but now I have more space, amen, this didn't happen over night, I think people need to realise this. I am doing a proper, no build, build. I brought lots of things over 3 years so pretty much can hop in and go now. I have things to go Stealth but not tried it yet. That is my next step. For now I do camp grounds that are reasonable. As a solo female camper in the 🇬🇧 I am building up to things. Have been watching you a long while. You were one of the Van lifers that taught me how to start out and just do car camping with what you had l, full-time lifestyle or not. Thank you. Not looked back since my mum died. Just trying to live my best life and to manage or heal with time over my loss. Did the expensive hotels, cruises, holidays, that gave me joy but is the same old same old. I now enjoy the simple life of hiking, camping and Glamping in huts, out of choice! I love the countryside and space being a city gril. It also helps a great deal with my mental health. Nice to escape the hustle bustle. Stay blessed Chrome. Your advice as always. Pretty much spot on.
The first opening moments of this video made me smile. There is no better sound than rain on your car (or van) roof. I'm a huge rain lover so even just watching it fall on your windscreen made my soul happy. Then the wholesome fun of watching cars drive through that huge puddle. Awesome. Love it! 😄😄
I loved the beginning of the video (im only so far). You enjoying the rain and puddles made me happy because I remember how much I enjoyed the puddles too amd especially watching the cars, and being in one going through them, as a child. And it's something I've (too) taken/kept from my childhood as a young adult (I'm 19 now). I saw it as a way of caring for your inner child even though you might not think of it that way in the moment, made me happy seeing that :))
You are so cheerful, so refreshing, thanks so much for sharing your experiences. I love your explanations about where to park and following intuitive feelings too. Great video!!!

I love Chrome.. He just brings my life so much joy. I am in his situation, but no voluntarily. He makes me feel so much better an that this isn't such a bad thing despite my houses situation. Thank you bro. Love ya
@@heartstrings7814 thank you.
@@treygraphy8050 You are very welcome. And just so you'll know, I too am in the struggle. But Nothing will take my Joy nor my inner peace or self respect. Stand tall and Proud my friend. We can do this!!!
You're one of my nomad inspirations. I've lived in my truck going on 5 months and I've learned quickly where and how I like to park for the night. Safety, less traffic and mainly residential oh and has to be leveled.
Cruze is so precious... Each time you feed him its a joy to watch his eyes/face watch his "daddy" prepare his meal..... Idk i get great joy out of simple things!!!! Take care boys..... ✌

I was homless and living in my van and i did hospitals, wal-mart, and even motels. But i didnt gave a dog that would need walked. Best of luck to you in the future
Sounds a bit stressful. But I see the necessity for doing so much to keep safe.
@@charisma-hornum-fries You took the words right out of my mouth.
I've learned to always go with my gut. I've never regretted it though I have regretted ignoring a gut feeling.
Calgary rainstorm: just a slow drizzle in Texas. A real serious “FrogStrangler” means you pull over when driving. You can’t see ANYTHING even with Windshield wipers going full blast.
Yeah...it was a decent rain, but I was underwhelmed. When you can't even drive 5 mph, I get the heck off the road. Cheers!
hey Valdez! 👋 it's not fair! you start video with THAT CUTE FACE (Cruz) I had NO CHOICE but the watch all 19 mins 38 seconds....Cruz is adorable
So true. Stealth doesn’t mean invisible.
I like the fact that you change it up from going to small towns to educating us newbies about vanlife. As always love your videos!🤟
Yeah most be hard to please everyone in a UA-cam channel right 😂
Hey Chrome! You slept next to the Skypoint seniors center. I was a big part of its construction when being built. So awsome to see you in calgary and seeing some of my work in one of your always awsome videos!!!👍👍👍

That’s Michigan Out In The Country Rain right there. You go out in that and a rain drop is like a hand slapping you in the face.
Looks like a rainstorm in the great lakes basin area-when it comes down and has a thick, rubbery consistency on the wipers.
William Gipson, exactly my thought. We had that rain in Ogemaw County not long ago.
I had to chuckle a bit, he should see it here in Michigan if he thinks that's hard. It often rains so hard you can't see 50 yards away, when you can't drive 20mph because you can't stop in time so you have to pull over your in a hard rain lol.
😲 Wow
Also it’s helpful to arrive after dark and leave before dawn.
You love and compassion really shows. ❤️I just discovered your channel and it really cheered me up. I'm going through some rough times and this is inspiring me to do this. Thanks for giving me more courage to step outside my comfort zone. P.S. Your dog is absolutely adorable!
We’re all going through tough times.
What you’re talking about is called “street smarts”..... that so many lack, but they’ll learn real quick that you must trust that little voice inside
Thank you for giving me the courage to do what I’m so anxious about… I’m a woman in my car…I’m adventurous and love change… but was driving around today looking for spots … I have 16 days.. Till I’m out on the road… in SoCal US of A… keep the beginners videos going… I trust you because you make it so very easy… thank you! 🙏🙏🙏hope I meet you at some point to say thank you!!!😎🙏❤️
I’ve camped in cars and van at the beach for years. Pull up to expensive neighborhoods and lean back. I go all the time with my kids. It’s our escape from this vegas heat. Blend in
I love thunderstorms and hearing rain in vehicles 😍
Me too!
Same here! It's definitely stress relief!!
Same...i will go park somewhere, just to sit an listen the sound!!!
Me too , except for when I'm sleeping 😴.
Feeling a bit depressed so I'm here watching van life videos to remid myself, being disabled, poor as f* and alone isn't so bad when you live in a 6 bedroom home on 15 acres of world heritage tropical rainforest.
Have you thought of setting up a 5 acre stealth camp area for those traveling in area. Yes there has to be some rules, but most stealth van lifers live those rules every day. Such as no trash left behind, and 10 hour stay maximum. Noise ordinance.
But you're poor? . How do you live in a mansion?.. 🤔
Wow! Been away for a while, Bro. So many changes! Better video editing, and much better background music. Watched you go from 1100, to 14,000, and up. But 210,000 is insane, Dude. Your channel has grown so much in such a short amount of time. Wishing you and Cruz peace and wellness, brother. Be safe out there, man.
My Mom, use to tell me... Listen, to that first gut feeling...it's always right!
I so love your enthusiasm!!! Your channel always makes me so happy!!! I very much agree with you about overnighting, never had a problem! I trust my gut too, and been doing this for almost 3 years now without troubles.
For me, It is better to drive around and get a lay of the land during daylight. Its really helps.
Thanks for all the tips Chrome. I tried this out on a mini scale this summer and I'm pretty old. Safe travels youngster.
One of the most reassuring, anxiety-freeing and informative vids I've seen on this subject, regarding this type of lifestyle. Thanks!
Great info. I struggled in my head while I'm building my e-150. I want to have my own look to my van and now I understand. Great music too. TY👍👍👍
Chrome, thank you for this. Going to do some suv camping, boondocking whatever you want to call it and the whole "where do I pull over to sleep" thing was a big question. Other people cover various places, but you went over your whole though process here. Perfect.
Make some window coverings. They make a huge difference. Reflectix is pretty cheap at home depot and the like. Have fun!
@@piquat1 boom! Perfect 🤜🏼🤛🏼
That's true stealth camper entertainment right there! Loved excited the "Ooooos" and the joyful "Here we go" cries as the cars splashes through the flood waters in the road. It was awesome to see you give it a go as well.
Best advice ever about parking ..try not to create problems for yourself..
Dude when I first started watch you had 800 subscribers and now look how many you have wow.
That’s how it used to rain in California, when I was a child.
Lightning barely 1/2 mile away. A separate video and audio should be uploaded as one of those "Help to fall asleep" videos. Keep safe out there, Chrome!
My kid walks by as you're rolling up your window and stops. "What happened to jack up his window like that?" Sigh. I remember being awestruck at my grandpa's electric windows.
Soo close to 200k. I remember when I started watching you at 7k. Congrats Chrome!
You bring a smile to my face! Adorable, if I may say so 😁. Spots I like.... Safeway markets in tourist towns, casinos, Denny’s Restaurants, Ralphs, of course Walmart, Sam’s
Just started watching you van life, and I'm just getting the jive for it myself as I am going on that track to being a nomad, I guess it started when family used to go camping with us kids, you never outgrown the experience of the great outdoors, be safe out there my friend, Love that Cruz buddy, what a great dog!
Be sure to go back and watch Chromes videos from the beginning. You will find them all very entertaining. Chrome has evolved into a major youtuber promoting his beautiful Country not just van life.
I have owned a handful of vans over the years. Loved everyone. Camping, road trips, work, hauling my music gear. So versatile
The big puddles that accumulate at the road edge, many people here call 'guttersharks' because they bite at your wheels. Fun as hell to drive through but make sure you lightly pump your brakes a few times to dry them out.
You so right, I am not comfortable in places were no one is around, preferring places with hotels or parking spots in the city were people are around.
Stay safe out there.
Santa Barbara won't let even tradesman park, even during the day.
Handy C° to F° conversion trick for your concerned viewers: (C x 2) + 30 ≈ F
7°C x 2 = 14 + 30 = 44, which is just about the 44.6 google gave you
This was great to watch!!
Rainx would be my recommendation for your windows, simple wipe on and then use some rainx windshield washer fluid
I can sincerely say that when in doubt there are plenty of places where ever there are semi trucks. as a female solo driver i have never had an issue. btw. i love the fact that you are easily amused, the rain is one of my favorite times to be in my van.
Proof we never outgrow our love of playing in mud puddles!!
Here’s to never losing those child like adventures!
@@hikerhobby1204 Amen! It’s in those moments we feel most alive 😊
One of the most important things my mom taught her kids and grandkids was the joy of playing in puddles: jump, splash, building dams, lots of imagination play.
I used to walk home from school with just socks on in the gutter when it rained. Mum would make me wash my socks. Still love rain.
Looks like you were having fun in the rain way to go
I just pick a spot in a isolated corner of the parking lot and mind my own business. Works everytime. No one bothers me. Catnapped for a few hours at a Fairbanks, AK Home Depot in June 2017. Did the same in a Walmart parking lot in NH in 2007. Of course the best and safest spots are large truck stops or Welcome Centers.
We in Minnesota, got alot of rain last night too.
I thank you for inspiring me. I am so excited to start this life. Thank you for the information.
Thanks Dude, these videos are very relaxing and uplifting in this world of darkness and chaos we're thrust into!
Stealth, yes why hide ? You’re not doing anything wrong , it’s I suppose it’s so you get peace and quiet ❤️
This video was so relaxing, I had to subscribe. I recently learned about van life, & I’ve been learning so much from you & others. It’s going to be many years before I do the van life, but I’m taking notes now, & learning. Thank you.
Looked like a Netflix kinda day! Great talk on parking. Thanks again.
Hey Chrome! Just an FYI, you really need to get some paint on those primer spots on your van! Primer absorbs water and will cause your van to rust again way faster if you leave it unprotected without a top coat of regular paint....especially down around the wheel openings and rockers...Just sayin' Peace out Bro!
A nicely painted van will get less noticed than a van with primer spots on it. Just a observation.
Very true....
Park near apartment complexes... there's always street parking available
Hey that's like an Arizona rain. Love the sound of rain falling on the roof.
yep during monsoon season! haf a great one this year! not so much last year

I respect people who like to travel in vans and cars!!!
Glad you and cruze are still doing well! Haven’t been tuning in the past few months, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
Love the video and your enthusiasm for life. I started camping in a box trailer under a tarp progressing to my first van this weekend, which I'll be living on weekends when home from work. This video makes me feel much better about everything. Cheers
Doesn't take much to amuse you, hell it amused me and probably many others. Thanks for sharing. Guess we are weirdos.
😄🤣😭😭🤣🤣🤣 Hes funny! He had me cracking up too! I Love your Van/Home! And your sweet lil companion to join you! Id love to do this some day ❤
Those puddles were awesome! 🤣😂
Taking your advice ! 😀
Awesome. Love it! 😄😄
Appreciate your willingness to repeat your teachings! 👍🏼
Great way to include how you Van Life in the videos you share - Brilliant!

Thank you chrome. Very sound advice regarding the parking. I'm loving the new merchandise. Will be definitely buying some.
Thanks for the vid. I am 4 weeks into living in the cab of a pickup. I have been bouncing around with my dog from Texas.. New Mexico.. Utah... Colorado .. and family. My best over night stops have been the larger rest stops. Wal-Mart parking lot for back up.
