  • Do you have pinching hip pain in the front, side, or back of the hip?
This test may help you determine if you have hip impingement.
Generally hip impingement is described as an inflammation or tearing of the tissue around the hip socket due to repetitive stress placed on the pelvis by structures of the femur.
Two common risk factors for hip impingement are…
1.) Excessive anterior pelvic tilt (think butt sticking out)
    2.) A collapsed/overpronated foot
These positions can lead to increased internal rotation of the femur relative to the hip socket increasing stress at the impingement site especially when the hip is flexed (as demonstrated by the test in this video).
Having a better understanding of how to strengthen in a a neutral pelvic position and maintain it during your lifting, walking, and running is crucial to your recovery. Knowing how to grip the floor with your feet and how to rotate the femur outward will also help knee and hip issues…WIN,WIN!
