I think the authentic nature about the review is what makes this so easy to watch, it’s clear you know your cars and that confidence when you’re speaking is what separates this review from the malarkey on the new top gear cast.
@1:18 this myth of you can only have “fun” in a rear wheel drive. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Fun at the expense of being wrapped around a tree isn’t my idea of fun either. Each to their own, and Quattro is my choice.
I came across this video through my feed and this is my second comment. As good as the S5 ably gets over the bends and turns, I loved this production more so for the overall impact it made. Especially post 4:55 the epic background score, as if watching a Ron Howard movie with Hans Zimmer doing the music, made a mark. Good effort Sir and to all your Crew and behind the scenes Team. Let them know there are lots like me, who wait to see your next production. I wish you rise to summit in everything you do, not only Auto journalism. Enjoyed, liked (sub'd already). Thank you.
I prefer more the BMW M340I, is better in every aspect than the S5 for the same money, but the Audi is more relaxing car for cruising and maybe cheaper to maintenance.
What the???? This host sprung up on me from out of nowhere...and...i love it!!! What an amazing host. So much personality. And seems natural. I subed immediately! I gotta do more research who this guy is....fantastic.
Drive my 2018 model year s5 for three years. No single problem at all. The lease term is ending on May 2020. It is only 30000km. I don’t know if I should buy back or switch to C43 sedan.
Just ordered a 2021 S5 technik and I'm trading in my 2018 c43 with around 30,000 km on it. Personally I think the c43 is more fun to drive a bit more throaty but I'm 40 so I'm not street racing. Figured try out the Audi S5.
I'm in the US, and I live in a small town. Having said that, the autonomous driving features are cute, and fun for a short time, but wear on you after a bit. I like to drive. And the way I like to drive requires me to pay attention...ALL OF THE TIME. So that shit got turned off right away. Also got the APR stage 1 tune, and typically get 29-34 MPG on the highway, when I'm not really enjoying that tune. The EPA rates it as 27. But Audi screwed up with the telematics module, and they are refusing to replace it. So they basically lost me as a customer.
Decent review. Can't abide the official type reviews of these sort of cars. Never gonna get a balanced review when you drive supercars one day then a hot hatch the next.
On the S4 Avant Vs C43 estate. Just drove them both last week. C43 has turbolag and suspension feels stiffer. The interior is nice though. Settled on the S4 as delivered the torque far quicker and the car felt overall more special. S4 and S5 share same engine and cockpit interior.
Actually the rs5 has 2 turbos and the s5 has the same 3.0 v6 as the rs5 but 1 less turbo soo the s5 is a single turbo which decreases power by 100 horse power to 350 hp
Quattro is fun! Really? I drove many high power S & RS Audi's for years and still rate them but they are too easy to drive fast and certainly not fun... They are great all rounders and much better in the wet etc etc than a rear drive car, but for real enthusiasts who have some ability behind the wheel, rear wheel drive with a LSD is much more engaging - if not for everyone. The S5 is more luxury GT for which I am sure its great.
Noted mate.... Yes - I would say personally - the nav is not my favourite, I kind of alluded, I also mentioned the B+O in the video also as something you might not want. The 22mpg round town is less than great but prob irrelevant for a car like this on balance? Other than that, seriously... No road noise. Super soft steering, amazing handling, driving position brilliant, V Expensive... not so much if you lease. What I did also hint at was that I can't comment on what one might be like without the options I mentioned in the video, as that would make it unfair as this was loaded £63k. Thanks for note and comment on edit.
It they were THAT clever you could just speak to the car and say "take me to the nearest Tesco's please" and " by the the way, are they still doing 18 packs of stella for £11.99?"
WHAT WOULD GET... IF THEY WERE THE SAME PRICE... S5 OR M4?????
I reckon a more fair comparison would be the RS4 and M4
I would get S5 anyday but m4 is compared with rs5 on it's speed and design
s5 vs 440i or 540i m4/m5 would be vs rs5
Finally an intelligent reviewer that understands a car in the real world and not from a lap around a race track!
Mark Travers we all know BMW better on track 🤣
exactly
u got that right! the other is V6 exhaust note, get over it
I’ve had mine for 1.5 years now, fully loaded, absolutely love this car. Perfect blend of sport and practicality.
Jacob Brozenick I wanna get one how is maintenance??
I’m about to buy one (2017 Sportback) but would like to know the realistic MPG if you can help.
@@MUNKEEHANGA81 21-22mpg motorway, city around 11-12mpg and can go as low as 8mpg when flooring it
@@jakequaresma yep. I bought one. I get the same. But I drive everywhere in Dynamic S. 😂
@@MUNKEEHANGA81 looking to buy one what’s the practicality like with it
- BBC - I know you are reading this - hire this man - you know it makes sense -
"you...guyys"
i agree, these new comers have a lot to talk about cars. You are hired!
I agree 100%
This chap is the best reviewer out there, totally in tune with the real world driver. I've just ordered a VW GTE after seeing his assessment of it.
I think the authentic nature about the review is what makes this so easy to watch, it’s clear you know your cars and that confidence when you’re speaking is what separates this review from the malarkey on the new top gear cast.
A very good review by a very talented presenter, a slight similarity to Mr Clarkson! Sign him up BBC, gets my vote.
Lol
This was the best short review of the 2018 S5 I have seen. So composed. Stellar work.
I bought one last week it is absolutely epic !!!!
Brilliant review, can't wait to get mine in august
Oh just saw this.... .... what did you put on it?
HR in a Car Audi exclusive Nardo grey, black optics, full assistance, full MMI, s sport seats, full leather and a few other things

I purchased one of the First 2018 Audi S5's in America used with 4200 miles on it. Finally got a New 2022 S5. Love it!

Exactly. Take it to the snow and we're talking 😎👌
One of the best reviews I've ever seen!
Please review more sports/Performance cars in this manner. This man knows what matters
Both production and the host are brilliant....remind me of old time Top Gear !!!

"You end up with a car that you're gonna want".... I've been wanting one all my Life!!!!!
Randomly came across this video whilst looking for car reviews...I am now a subscriber!
4:20 It is not tesco in Germany, in fact, it is in Hungary which is weird.
Even more weird.... ha ha Well Spotted #Failed Geography
Hungarian here: made me smile :)
much better review than the likes of car wow or autotrader
That was the best car review i have ever watched on youtube.
Such crisp and clean lines only Audi does it that way..
This is one of the most underrated cars
After watching this I bought one !!! And love it !!
Still love it !

This car is absolutely gorgeous
Got mine in August 2018 and I'm loving it
What camera 🎥 was used for this video? I’m curious because the color is so crisp and clean 👌🏾
i dont know if its just me but something about the British accent makes it trust worthy lol
Most definitely! Love my 2018 s5 coupe

Thanks Leila. And thanks for subscribing to the channel to see more of Howard Ritchie.
Laugh. You’re his wife, right?
Dammit, this guy sold this car well.
Fantastic review, very well made video. Giving the new Top Gear a run for its money. Great stuff 👍👍

Really epic material and real life information about this car.... Completely agree....I own an Audi and say Yes🎉
Subbed! Damn your review is fantastic!
Great video..... completely agree 💯👍
Very good review.. thanks for doing it the easy way
I own an audi a5 right now. I will upgrade to this car one day!
Thanks for showing it in Green. I was looking at that exact set up.
This very car was for sale on autotrader 6 months ago. I told the seller about this UA-cam video. He had no idea! 😂
His reviews are very reminiscent to the early times of Richard Hammond.
Such a great review, had to watch it twice 🔥
Brilliant had me laughing at the end.....
4:17 Actually, the first one is in Hungary
I hope the visual Predator reference at the start was deliberate...lovely stuff...
I agree excellent tv reporter
What village is this filmed? Looks beautiful, would like to visit
4:52 Swindon
Wow, I can't believe I ignored this channel for so long. Sorry. I'm here now, and believe me I'm staying. ♥️
Brilliant work!
Hoping the colour of this car is Daytona Grey pearl as I’ve ordered my Black Edition A5 in that colour and the car in this review look amazing

He looks like Hugh Jackman in Swordfish. Great video.
Awesome review!
It’s good, but doesn’t it automatically up shift when in manual? I thought this was meant to be one of the annoying things about it?
Decent review. Can't abide the official type reviews of these sort of cars. Never gonna get a balanced review when you drive supercars one day then a hot hatch the next.
Great review very informative.
Is it possible to lease an audi s5 sportsback, with 3k down and 520 a month?
"obviously that is Tesko in Germany "
While showing a location in Hungary 😂
The S5 is a really nice car
Price and maybe image are two potential negatives. Id take one in a heartbeat tho!
How does this stack up against the C43 AMG?
osiris1309 C43 is probably a close winner.

please review the S5 Cabriolet and the rs5
Favorite car. One drive and I fell in love. The red seats though.
Great review, great car.
wait so the old s5 v6 and new tts is quicker?
Just bought one. I’m late lol but any recommendations
aswm review sir .lot like top gear ..:; waiting for next..."
i own the same infotainment system in my car and yes, destination input is a NIGHTMARE lol. the rest is great
Love the car... s5 top
All Audis should have the adaptive suspension as standard because the other systems are rubbish.
does everything right...but it has an exhaust drone in the car in sport mode at certain revs...annoying.
Are those the new rotor wheels?!
Yes as far as I know. But they were not an option on the sheet I noted as option.
Actually the rs5 has 2 turbos and the s5 has the same 3.0 v6 as the rs5 but 1 less turbo soo the s5 is a single turbo which decreases power by 100 horse power to 350 hp
îf only the reliability would be good as the car itself
I've got one. I call it "The Claw"
There's a little bit of Hammond in this guy.
Sick!
61,000 lb car? That's heavy!!!
£61,000 (Sterling).
That's British money. It weights from 3800 to 4200 lbs.
hahahaha...you make my day..🤣
would you buy an Audi a5 Quattro or a BMW 5?
I think a6 vs 528i is a better comparison
A M
Not in the same category
Company car tax £114.00 per month really? How did you work that work one out? I pay nearly £300 a month a an A class?
Sorry about that. Different time? Incorrect calculation?
I don’t know why automakers bother really with navigation... you just put google maps on and say wherever you wanna go and ... boom it finds the route
Wise man.
I would've bought it the second I had the money for it. Well I guess I spend 3 years more saving up :)
This very car is for sale on autotrader!

Well, for the laymen, and for ensuring you don't end up under a lorry on a motorway I kind of like it. I can't drive for toffee, so it suits me :)
So there are no criticisms or areas of shortfall!?... hmm can't really take this seriously but aye - nicely edited
