The RS5 is too hard for traveling longer distances and the A5 is already a weaker car. In my opinion the S5 is the ultimate daily driver, sure there are faster cars, but they are not as comfortable.
Cant agree with you on this one. Drove the rs5 while there was an audi event in my country and it was the best 200 km ride for my back in years. Just need to set it for comfort.

I've driven both the S5 and RS5 and for me, the S5 is significantly more comfortable with both the seating and the suspension. Individual comfort is of course always subjective.

For me..a5 power is sufficient enough
RS5/S5 is basically the same car different engine. My S5 has the same suspension and seats the RS has.
I’ve been daily driving my 3.0t S5 for just a year. Perfect for Deep South New Zealand.

I agree with everything you said. Great analysis of the S5. I personally don't like the wheels and front with all that chrome. I wish Audi would make the front end a little bit more aggressive since it's an "S" model. The interior is way nicer than BMW 3 series and that virtual cockpit takes the cake.
After driving both the M2 and 340, I feel like BMW needs a big overhaul in the interior department. But from the pictures I've seen of the new 3-series and the M5, I would say it's definitely worth another look. Hopefully I get to check those out soon.

I just purchased a 2019 S5 prestige coupe’ in Quantum grey. I have to say, this car is a blast and luxury all in one. Not sure there are too many cars that can beat the quality and performance in one.

La Perfection Louis no I didn’t compare but the only difference is the twin turbo. Not enough in performance to justify.

Dan do you remember Hitman first movie from the early 2000s if im correct. The main role actor drove a silver s5 with a v8... God that car sounded like pure sex. I drove an s5 and rs5 of the previous gen and also for a short time the newest rs5. I love the interior of the new and old, but the engine? Hands down the old engines. I love my v8s and those eco idiots taking them away from me makes me want to go to the corner of my room and cry like a child.... 😭 yes im so torn about it.
I can't recall it from my memory. But I do agree with you. The previous gen RS5 was fantastic. It is really sad that the NA V8 is dying out. The soundtrack is hard to beat but the problem these days is the not only the eco-ratings, but it's more about performance. There is no doubt that adding turbos to these cars make them much faster, if not just simply due to a broader powerband as well as being easily modifiable. I haven't driven the new RS5 yet, only seen it in action and it's no doubt faster than the previous one, but there is definitely something lacking.

I don't know what you did in the mic department for that flat out run, but duude. Nailed it. That was sick. Did you blend 2 audio streams together somehow? I've never heard such as accurate engine note representation on camera. Please don't tell me you put a mic next to a speaker in the car. lol.
Thanks! I do the same thing as every acceleration run. GoPro on the rear bumper right by the license plate for the exhaust audio and I blend it with the camera that's shooting the dash/cabin so it's a mixture of inside and outside sound. Some cars work out better than others though. I guess it's cuz the S5 is just the right amount of loud that it doesnt overpower the GoPro. 👍🏻

Ok I have 2 issues with this video,,, The title reads Is the S5 faster than the BMW 440i ? In the final breakdown you don't list the 440i , you have the 340i xdrive ? Also the transmission is an 8AT not a 7AT. You went to the trouble to make a slick video but made obvious crucial mistakes.

I've had my convertible 2018 S5 in Daytona Grey for a year now and the level of equipment it has is unreal from the heads up display to the self parking it's all great. Best car I've ever owned. The traction is a joke as well it sticks to the road so well it's unreal and when I have people in it I just put my foot down and they are always shocked from the acceleration 😂 that exhaust sounds absolutely amazing with the roof down as well 😍😍😍

I adore the stealth factor of my S5, it is a great deal quicker than it appears or for the attention it attracts. It is also not powerful enough to kill you in a moment of over-indulgence, instead it will just rein in your excesses in the understated way that appears to be this cars raison d'etre.
A big, brand new, wide hipped Audi coupe is not stealth lmao. No one sees this car and thinks "wow must be slow" like for most wagons and some sedans
@@papa_pt Here in Europe the A5/A4 is a common sight, and the favored carriage of many senior sales people. The S models are not so wildly "pumped" over their A-series counterparts to cause much distinction to non-car enthusiasts. Most people don't even know that the silver finish door mirrors are a identifying feature of S models and the size of the wheel arches does much to disguise the larger alloys contained there. Other than the quad exhaust there are not a lot of external style cues to pick up on either.
Staring too much at the camera and no facial expressions. Watch some good ol' Top Gear to see where you can practice. Good luck! :)

I'm not used to watching reviews about a car I actually have keys to, but my regular daily is an '04 PT Cruiser. So yea, you can imagine how I feel when I drive the S5.

Love the production on your vids, audio is superb. No clipping the exhaust sound, sounds like you're using analog limiters... Sound devices mixPre maybe? And with the dynamic range you're getting on the videos I'd guess you're using an Arri Alexa. It's pro level whatever it is and I love it. Nobody does car videos this good!!!

Thanks man. They compete in completely different segments, but I would say that that Lexus V8 is a gem in terms of reliability. A lot of people praise Lexus for over-engineering it to withstand years of abuse rather than squeeze tremendous power of it. To be honest, if we throw any price variables out the window, I would do the RC-F first, and then the GS-F and the S5 is my last choice in this situation. The Lexus F cars are more in line to compete with the M3 and RS5.

I can't say for sure with an RC F because I never drove one. But with the GS-F, there was plenty of adjustment room. Same goes for the S5, plenty of room for tall people at least in terms of seat adjustment.

I test drove the 2018 S5 Sportback this weekend with 58,000 miles on it even, and wow was I shocked by the performance and driving engagement all while feeling like the perfect daily long commuter. Sold. Now I’m looking for one with the B&O premium audio. And perhaps a few less miles. But dude only $33,800 for the one I tested. Almost almost signed for it.

Hey thanks! The reason I upload in 16:9 with the bars is because UA-cam's end cards and built in annotations don't work with the native 2.39:1 aspect ratio that I'm delivering this content in. But let me try again on the next video, it's been a few months so they may have updated it.
