      Luke has built his entire UA-cam channel from Emma. He used to comment on every video of hers. He is posting another video about her. When Luke stops posting videos about Emma, that will be a problem.

      Yeahhh but as a creator, it’s your choice to be authentically yourself or not. You make the choice and the ppl who love you will rock with you, or you lose relevance and have to your transform your life. Some ppl get 15 mins of fame and some get 15 years, but you have to move and change through life. An audience of 14 year old girls shouldn’t be making those calls for you.

    The guy who wrote this article does not seem to understand the youtube community. Emma Chamberlain is talented but she did not invent the way people talk. And I truly believe that someone's editing style is an art form. People are allowed to be influenced by other work in order to create their own work.

    I don't really mind youtubers making videos that reach their demographic, I do have a problem with youtubers dropping out of high school and not really addressing it to their audience. Childern don't always understand that it is hard to make a career out of this. They need school. So if Tana, Jake, or Emma would say, "Sure I dropped out, but it is not a good idea to drop out", that may help. I don't know, just my opinion.

      i agree with this statement so much. people see youtubers lifestyles and incomes and want to imitate it without knowing how hard it actually is. you don't just hop onto youtube and get a million subscribers and sponsors. when a youtuber as big as emma and the rest you listed tells their audience that they dropped out of school to pursue youtube, they will follow. youtube, being an unreliable source of income, will fail most of these people and they won't have and career to fall on because most jobs require at least a high school diploma

      @@oogieboogiewoogie9319 Yes, thank you. Plus people don't seem to listen to reason, just what their favorite person is doing at the time. People can still do something you enjoy, but have a back plan. Finishing high school will help with this.

    I feel like the likeability of youtubers is highly influenced by the psychological status the viewers were during the first encounters with their videos.
    There are a lot of creators that I started watching while I was on a very low point and they all have a special place in my heart: some of them have been kept higher on my list just because they were there when I needed them, but their content is actually less appealing to me than the content of others that I just happened to discover in a different time.
    Our judgement on UA-camrs like that will always be biased: when they change drastically we'll be too harsh, because we perceive them as actual friends, even if, on a rational level, we know they are not; when we love them we love them (almost) unconditionally, because we feel a connection with them that goes beyond the screen, even though we know it's not bi-directional. I think it's inevitable, we are human.

Currently Emma’s mind and body aren’t fully developed and she’s still figuring out how identity, her likes, dislikes, what makes her comfortable and what doesn’t. They should allow her to change and to explore more things on UA-cam.

    i always find it funny when people act like it takes SO MUCH time and energy to be a youtuber. of course it takes work, but its not hard work. its a position of privilage and of course there are hard days like with any other job, but pretending that its so exhausting and difficult to cash in on being yourself (especcially since emma's videos are just her sitting at home) is honestly offensive

    • @maddiehoinka5792
      @maddiehoinka5792 5 років тому +14

      It is hard work. Until you do it yourself, you have no idea how hard it is. I work for a popular youtuber currently and it is the hardest job I’ve ever had and I’m not the one in the videos. They have to constantly come up with concepts, script out how the video will go and how to make it interesting, create and photoshop a thumbnail that will attract attention, know enough about the algorithm of UA-cam to create an accurate/attention grabbing title, know about lighting and cinematography (ISO, F stop, color temperature, framing, 180* rule etc) to make sure everything will cut together properly and will look even remotely decent. And then even after all of that, is editing. Editing just a 10 minute video can take anywhere between 10 - 20 HOURS. For ONE video. Yes it is a privilege and an honor and they are very lucky to be able to do what they do. But it is beyond exhausting and absolutely hard work. Most youtubers work 7 days a week to maintain their channels. They don’t get “days off”. Their entire lives revolve around this constant cycle of creation. They deserve respect and appreciation for the amount of effort that is put in that you don’t see. Sorry for the rant, I know you don’t mean any harm by your comment and neither do I. I just think people don’t realize how much work it really is.

    • @leahstewart1002
      @leahstewart1002 5 років тому +27

      Maddie Hoinka I have friends in the youtube industry. Like I said, it is work. I'm not arguing that they don't have to put it in effort. But comparatively, it is an easy job. To be able to work from the comfort of your own home, to not have a boss, to deciding what you're gonna do each individual day, it is much easier than what most of the working class experiences. And the paycheck is higher. Easier job. More money. Of course they're working, of course they have their own responsibilities outside of work, of course their lives are more complex than what we see, but I have no sympathy for youtubers who complain constantly about how much "work" they have to put in. If its so emotionally and mentally strenuous, they should get a normal 9-5. It is a position of privilage and if its not one they're happy to have, they need reality checks. UA-cam isn't for everyone.

    • @leahstewart1002
      @leahstewart1002 5 років тому +21

      Maddie Hoinka especcially emma, who uploads once a month, puts no effort or creativity into the concepts behind her videos, and uploads them to get millions and millions of views. she makes it very clear that she finds youtube incredibly difficult and does not enjoy doing it. and she puts in relatively little work compared to other creators on the platform. i just dont feel bad for her. this clearly isnt her scene and theres nothing wrong with that.

    • @joisiemagee
      @joisiemagee 4 роки тому +11

      @@leahstewart1002 This is so true! and can be applied to almost 80% of UA-camrs nowadays. Like im sorry but if UA-cam if your full time job then there is absolutely no reason you can't put out AT LEAST one video a week (obviously this doesn't include people who need full teams and crews / actors etc. to create their videos) but the people who just make standard videos from home have no other excuse other than laziness.

    I feel like when people make it big , people start calling them overrated even if they acted the same as they did when they didn’t have so many followers. I think of course she had to slightly change her content when she started getting bigger because she had a bigger audience which means a bigger Demographic . People will literally say “oh such and such is so underrated” ..... however when they start growing and getting followers they’re fans go nuts because now they are “trendy” and start with the “ oh now she’s overrated” the same thing happened to Billie eilish. The fans want to sorta keep they’re favs a secret so not to become trendy (I guess this makes them feel special or something) . Idk that’s just my 2 cents but people should be allowed to grow that’s all I think

    I'm really glad I found you! I can agree with a lot of the things you had to say. It really does help her dad is an artist I feel, he can kinda appreciate it and show support more. It is annoying how people say she started that sort of editing though. Like you said, she def popularized it, but she didn't create it. I think that's where subscribers came from too, then from her having controversies, with "tea" channels "exposing" her. Any sort of publicity *CAN* be good publicity. Then she started collabing with the Dolan Twins, which obviously caused her count to raise. Overall though, your video made a lot of sense, and I'm glad you shared your opinions with us. That was a super opinionated article, and may put a weird veiw on certain youtube communities. I'm glad I took the time to watch this, you just gained a new subscriber. Have a great day!!

I can never tell if it's interesting or worth reading, which can be discouraging. It's really difficult for some people to see what they make as "good" and it honestly really surprises me that Emma is one of those people. I always got the impression that she thought she was really funny and enjoyable to watch, so it's interesting to see that she actually doesn't feel that way. I also would like to hear more about what she's really feeling because clearly she has more depth than she lets on.
