What happened to Colorado's best Front Range Trail?!

- Jenny Creek is a difficult trail off of Rollins Pass East near Rollinsville, Colorado. Colorado's Jenny Creek offroad trail THEN vs Now. It was once routed against the creek and that was so much fun, but now it's routed through an area Pine Beetle Destruction which is beautiful in it's own way. It was my favorite trail and when I told people I did it stock, they thought I was crazy, but it really wasn't that bad... however it was a blast! The trail was moved away from the water, possibly because of fish, but I could never find a full answer. However, I did find reports that the old route was going to come back in the future, but I'm doubtful.

This is the sixth of a series of concentrated trail videos, but full length Trail Guides on these trails will be released as I get them edited. These are a new kind of video and an experiment to bring more trail info to more off-roaders. Full Trail Guides are still my priority, I am just restricted on editing time currently (filming with what little off time I get). Feedback is greatly appreciated because I just make these based on what I would want as an offroader, but I know not everyone is like me so let me know!

Next video is Red Cone’s Trail Guide. It’s currently Monday, August 29th. I still have a lot to do to make Red Cone awesome and my job is extremely busy. I won’t upload another video till I finish red cone, but it may not be Wednesday, September 7th. After Red Cone, I’ll start working on the Mount Blanca Trail Guide and I’ll have new weekly highlights starting after next week. Going to cover some of the trails Sean and I filmed in 2021 in those, but have been pushed back due to my chaotic schedule (I still expect to make full trail guides of those later… just filmed in an older style that is harder to edit to make them good). @@Colorado4x4 Jaws 2 was a piece of cake… what got me was Jaws 3. I was trying to take the long wheelbase line and instead needed to just go straight up it (there is bypass for it and I took the bypass down). I did get careless towards the end of the trail (past lake Como) and high centered myself on a nothing spot… but I’m blaming the Bronco for digging the spot out 😂

I ran Jenny Creek last year (2021) and really enjoyed it. Good mix of some technical rocks and alpine views, lakes, and some late summer snow patches. One of the best trails in this area in my opinion (even post re-route). Thanks for making this video!

Jenny Creek is a great trail! The open area was lush with wild raspberries then the challenging rocky trail follows to Yankee Doodle lake. One obstacle caused my '02 Tundra to drag bottom as the Rock is square in the middle of the tree-lined narrow trail. A pond toward the end is filled with tiger trout...

Did they reroute the trail for environmental or erosion reasons or something else? I'll have to put this one on the list for this season or next wheeling season for sure.

Yeah, it’s getting built now (as money allows), then I’ll figure out what I can film. It’s ready for at least a trail I was going to take it on before I learned the 4WD was out. It’s probably the vehicle I’m most excited to film with as I can’t wait to see what it’ll do!
Why is a permit required for this trail? How is it different than all the other trails? Thanks.
I’m not exactly sure why, but it’s one of the few trails that they require a permit for. However, getting the permit is good as the fee is small and helps support off-road use.
What's a off road permit, does it cost money?
A permit that lets you use certain trails like Jenny Creek. The fee is $25.25 and it goes into trail upkeep and supports off-road use. cpw.state.co.us/buyapply/Pages/RegistrationsOHV.aspx
