Because if you drink and drive, you put other people's lives at risk, not just your own.
Because they know what they're doing in order to keep safe, but if you drink you are impaired, your judgment can be off and what you know how to do safely you might not do safely.
And because there are usually laws that prohibit you from drinking and driving, which can get you in trouble even if you aren't causing accidents, while there is no law prohibiting them from what they are doing.
I hope I clarified a few ways in which this is different from drinking and driving with your kid in the car.

Randomly one day, UA-cam offered me your channel, and I've been having one giant panic attack ever since. I keep watching to desensitize myself to the terror. Eventually I may be able to enter a large cave, something I had never considered doing before. I will never be comfortable (or thin) enough to join you on your experiences, but I'm interested in dipping my toes in. Thank you for sharing. P.S. - I had to pause and do deep breathing exercises several times to get through this video.

We hope that desensitization can never fully occur. We will do this through increasingly horrible caving adventures. the next 4 videos or so will be extremely unpleasant.

I myself am not a super "risk assessing adventurer" and i tend to be quite a bit claustrophobic, but i am fascinated by the energy people like you give off! The wondrously motivated drive to face what most would view as very real fears, to explore spaces that most humans will probably never witness in person, is just awe inspiring! I went cave diving with my nephew up in Macclesfield about 10 years ago now it was a lot of fun, I didn’t think I could get stuck in as I don’t light tight spaces but the tour guild really got us stuck in I’ll always remember that great time. Hey up Macclesfield. 😀
