- Corned beef hash pasties or tater hash pies are very popular pies in Northwest England and North Wales. They are cheap and easy to make and can be eaten hot as either a snack or main meal. They are also delicious cold as a portable picnic pie.
Unbaked pies can be frozen and defrosted fully then baked at 180C/350F for 25-30 minutes.

@@LazyCookPete Hi Pete, couldn't make the corned beef hash pie as someone had beaten me to the corned beef! however, made the leek, potato and cheese pie, and we devoured the lot while it was just slightly warm................so I guess it was a success. Thanks Zeffy! Yes the potatoes mitigate the saltiness of the corned beef rather well. It's an inexpensive and tasty pie that also tastes good cold. 😋

You had a really nice fond in the pan, did you de-glaze it? and your pastry looked fabulous and crisp.
Yes Bernhard, I left the pie filling in the pan for a few minutes and the fond had softened enough to lift easily. I should have explained that in the video, or maybe I did but the footage was edited out. Silly me!

Hi Carol. I use Aldi's own brand 'Bramwell's' whose country of origin is Brazil. Fray Bentos is a very good brand from Argentina if you can get it.

Yes indeed John. Pasties, patties, foldovers, squares, borek, samosas, empanadas and turnovers are all popular names for pies like these.
