My opinion after dealing with the AR-47 for years . Enhanced Firing pin , c- products mags , and adjustable Gas block is all you need to make this round work correctly in AR platform
I completed an AR15, 80 percent kit chambered in 7.62x39 3 days ago. I put thirty rounds through it as fast as I could pull the trigger. It performed perfectly, not a single round jammed. I used a 7.62x39 magazine from C-Products as I have heard other magazines do not work well in the AR15-7.62x39. I got the AR from Daytona Tactical. Another excellent 80 percent seller is Ceratac. I've built two 80 percenters and both worked flawlessly.
Wow, after spending days trying to figure out how to build one, your video popped up. I hate to say it, but thanks Google. And thank you Mr. Hughes, fir making this post!
Just finished my first AR47 build using a 16" PSA upper. My suppressor should be out of NFA jail in September or October, so I don't need a new gas block right away. With an SSA-E trigger, I'm getting factory loads to shoot 1 MOA using the Hornady SST. I'm taking it on a hog hunt in Texas the first weekend in August. This is definitely my favorite AR I've ever owned or shot. ETA: CPD mags have been flawless so far, but I've only cycled about 20 total rounds so far.
Update: Gun works great with brass ammo but cheap steel stuff fails to feed. There is a modification i am doing to my new Duramags to create less drag on the shell casing. I essentially built this rifle. My Gun is Aero Precision enhance upper, Aero quantum rail, M4E1 lower, Aero Breach, Magpul UBR gen2 stock, 762x39 BRA bolt, Faxon Mid length gas barrel, superlative arms adj gas block, duramag 28rds. Trigger: Stock AR15, mild polish, JP reduced spring + BRA heavy hammer spring. 4.5 lb pull. Vortex Prism red dot.
I have a bear creek arsenal 7.62x39 ar15. Put 1500rds through it with the stock BCG no issues whatsoever. Upgraded the BCG to a failzero 7.62x39 complete NibX with enhanced firing pin but i didn't need it. Once i put a failzero NibX trigger group i had light primer strikes so i put the EFP in and a wolff XP hammer spring for extra insurance had no issues. Running a bushnell trs-25 2moa red dot which is hard to find coupled with an eotech magnifier with MBUS pro backup sights.
If anyone is having problems with magazines I like to suggest the UNIMAG from Ross Defense Systems, will cycle eight different calibers to include 7.62 x 39 works great and very well made. Got mine at Primary ARMS.
Would you prefer the KS47 or Aero setup? Was looking at the KS and really like what I see (though wish bolt held open), and didn't know Aero made a 762x39 lower...
Way cool. I FINALLY found some mags while I was out of the PRC (Colorado). Stoked to try my new build. Anybody (with experience) have preference with buffer weight? At $350 shipped and taxed but no mags I've got the cheapest AR in my life. BCA upper, PSA lower, fixed sights.
I did the same build. Had to use the wolf hammer spring due to light primer strikes and went ahead and used black rifle arms enhanced firing pin. cheap stuff great rifle and cheap to shoot. much better rifle than the aks I have built
Hey Doug, not sure how but me and you ended up with almost the exact same assembly/build and I just saw your vid earlier this week. Although my trigger, buffer tube are POF-USA. 3 1/2 single stage, drop- in flat trigger w/pins and anti tilt tube. Upper is 16" from Mid-State Firearms. It's awesome to see you hunted around for quality such as B.R.A. Ty for making the vid. Definitely ordering that gas block.
I put one of these together and if you want to avoid an adjustable gas block you can switch to an H2 buffer. I still think there is a lot to be desired in the way of extractors and bolts. There's just no AR15/M16 bolt out there that hasn't been milled out too much. I'd liked to see an adapted AR10 bolt. I hate saying this but after playing with one of these for a while I wouldn't use it as a GTW/SHTF gun, if you're going the 7.62x39 route stay AK/SKS for reliability (and I'm talking not having to have spare bolts and extractors in the grip).
I agree on not using 7.62x39 AR’s for defensive roles given their spotty record with breaking extractors and bolts. Either use an AK or invest in a 300 BLK platform. But these particular rifles should only be used for plinking and hunting.
In this caliber, unlike a 556, you really need to lower gas pressure to lessen bolt and extractor strain. A heavier buffer will slow it down, but gas is your problem. I agree with you that for 99% of applications, an adjustable gas block is less than ideal and I don't even run one in my 3G setup anymore.
I know this is 6 years old but have you tried Adams Piston Kit for a gas system instead of DI system? I onl-y ask cause the AK uses a piston system and Im gonna build an AR47 and was thinking about the piston system for it. Just runs cleaner.
6 years later. How is it holding up?! I had to finally replace bolt at 2700 rounds. I agree with you on the BAD lever. I like my trigger guards to be free and clear for gloves. Enhanced foreling pin.. Some extractors are a real pain. .I mainly built one to have some fun with it and at that time ammo was so ridiculously overpriced.
It is still running like a champ. It's on the 4th extractor and has about 8,500 rounds through it. Almost all of that is steel. Over time, I did replace the Aero receivers through with SOLGW and changed the handguard to a Geissele Mk16. Some other things changes over time as well, like replacind the lower parts kit with Forward Controls parts. But, the complete BCG (minus extractor kits obviously), barrel, gas system, and other core parts of the rifle are still the exact same. It still shoots reliably and accurately. I will admit though that I would prefer not to use this as a defensive carbine due to the extractor. That is he weak point, although a properly built and gassed AR47 can see upward of 2,500 rounds on an extractor kit. My bolt still looks great though. Anyway, I haven't shot this much lately, preferring to run a suppressed 12.5" 556 these days.
Awesome build there! Question for ya with your buffer and spring your using any pressure signs also with the gas block are you restricting gas or bleeding it?
Bca lugs break every 1000 rnds or so but i just keep a spare. Bolt on me in my pack. But i have 556 762 several ar15s 7.62x39mm r very great for hunting guns no joke
You gotta' upload some video running your build. So many have issues with the platform, it'd be nice to see some video of reliably operating AR47 platforms.

So I have a very specific question I don't know if anyone could answer it but when it comes to the nickel boron 762x39 BCG, one of the biggest flaws of this particular rifle and caliber is that they always get a broken extractor. With these nickel boron BCG groups, do they come with any sort of enhanced extractor that is tougher than the others?
Yes, Black Rifle Arms uses high quality extractor kits. Even then, you are going to break them every 800 to 2500 rounds depending on how your rifle is gassed. An AGB will help maximize ejector life but may lead to other issues, like carbon locking. I personally don't see that as an issue on this particular platform though, because the gas block is pretty much set it and forget it when running 100% unsuppressed. Otherwise, I don't like AGBs. Most other brands of 7.62x39 BCGs use inferior parts that break early and often.
Yes, I have thousands of rounds through this thing and the bolt has very little noticeable wear. It also cycles very smoothly and quietly. Most importantly, it looks cool.
Thank you! I’m getting about 2 to 3 MOA at 100 yards with steel-cased Tula from Walmart. Pretty good for that low grade ammo. I’m tighter with brass, but haven’t measured it since I don’t shoot brass often.
Are barrels with 1-10 twist more expensive then say the 1-7 twist because they have more twist? And if you could help me out . What is the performance of the 1-7 twist I see so much of? I am about to order the complete lower and am trying to learn more about the uppers now .So as I won't ed up with buyers remorse and basically end up spending more money in the long run. We started with the AK and it is a little on the heavy side for me . So this AR build will be mine. Thank You so much for any info you may have to share You have a Beauty there . I am contemplating and weighing 556 or 762x39 . The indecision is ,when one has a good bit of 762x39 already on hand . Makes a logical and economical choice to run with the 762. With that said,The 556 angel sitting on the other shoulder explains that you need another tool in the box with other capabilities . Not to mention one of the main reasons or excuses I am using to justify the build or buying another rifle.Which of course is weight. I understand from others that the 762x39 AR while being a little lighter on average than AK is still heavier than 556 AR. Thanks again
Debbie Armioia Thomas I went with the 7.62x39 for this build because it’s unique for the platform and inexpensive to shoot. Steel-cased Russian ammo is much cheaper per round than a lot of other calibers. Plus, I have several other rifles chambered in .556 already. That said, this has become my favorite rifle by far. As for the twist rate, it depends on the caliber and weight of the projectile. For 7.62x39, you will want either a 1:9.5 or 1:10 twist rate. For .556, you’ll want a 1:9 for 55 grain and cheap of-the-shelf ammo, a 1:7 for 62 grain and similar ammo. There are also 1:8 barrels, which are great for shooting a bit of everything or for precision loads. Many SPR and 3-gun builds feature 1:8 twist barrels. There are other options as well, but again it depends on the type and weight of bullets you intend to shoot. As for price, the twist rate usually doesn’t impact that. Figure out what kind of shooting you plan to do and what weight and type of ammo you are most likely to shoot. Then determine the twist rate based on that.
Where should I start for an AR 10 version of this with very slight adjustments? Looking to do my first build and honestly I’d like to use 80-90% of what you used. Do you have a list of parts or a website that essentially walks you through it in layman’s?
Where did you get your ASC mags? Seems like what I got from gunmagware house and righttobear are old models that don't have the front ground out and the springs are terrible. I've contacted ASC hopefully they will get me some new springs. That or I'm gonna use an AK spring in the 30 and take the 30 spring and put in the 20, cut a lil shorter
I have a BCA 7.62x39 AR. with the stock BCG it lasted around 2000rds before the extractor spring and o-ring wore out. Does a milspec hammer spring ignite surplus ammo with an extended firing pin? I have a BCA extended firing pin with a wolff xp hammer spring but the trigger pull is a bit heavy.
In my experience, the stock hammer spring is ok but not 100% reliable. Then again, it’s a cheap part that most people have sitting in a drawer. I’d recommend swapping it and trying for yourself in your own build with your own ammo. Or, you can go with a better quality trigger with a hammer spring that strikes harder by design without adding pounds to the trigger pull. Excellent examples under $100 are the Hiperfire EDT series triggers and the LaRue MBT-2S. I’ve tried both personally and they are both reliable with Russian primers.
@@jamesii7 you need a bleed-off gas block for sure, pistol length gas 7.62x39 is the worst for parts wear. I'd recommend a different brand of BCG or extractor. FailZero makes good bolts and extractors but their gas key staking is hit or miss. Black Rifle Arms makes a good extractor as well
Nice. Planning on doing some of the same upgrades for reliability. What kind of oil do u run on ur bcg? And I was thinking about going with a eotech too but realized what if a emp from solar or worse happens then no juice so I'm wondering about good scopes that aren't electric, any suggestions? Thanks.
If you are worried about electronics failure in an optic, go with something powered by tritium and/or with an etched reticle. For example, you can run a Trijicon Accupoint or an ACOG. As for lube, SOTARacha. There is a video here on UA-cam.
Really great vid on your 7.62x39 build. I really like how you addressed the light primer strikes. So you are running the Hiperfire trigger group? Where did you find your extended firing pin. What is the final weight of this build and finally what is your cost as the rifle is now. (sorry about all the questions, I'm debating whether to buy a POF renegade 7.62x39 or to build one). Thanks.
I am currently running a Geissele SD-E. At the time of the video, I was running a Geissele SSA-E. Both triggers, as well as the Hiperfire EDT series and the LaRue MBT-2S, have run flawlessly in this gun. Total weight on the build is right under 8 pounds with the optic and no magazine. The enhanced firing pin is from Black Rifle Arms (BRA) and came from the factory in my BRA BCG. As for cost, I get a lot of my parts through trading. But to build this retail would run $3,000+ including optics.
Great review, but would like to see it in action. C Products mags, hard to find. Seems everyone is out and when you call the factory they don't know where they have shipped all they can do is give you a list of distributors.
Ordered mine from Optics Planet. They were out of stock when I ordered them, but they were great with letting me know when they expected their next shipment. Took about a month, but it was expected.
Does your setup have standard M4 feed ramps? I'm seriously considering building an ar47 but just want to be certain to build a reliable weapon so I really appreciated this video, new subscriber here!
Yes, it’s an Aero Precision upper receiver with standard M4 feed ramps. I do not recommend polishing them. Quality parts should not need that sort of modification to run reliably. Most builders with feeding issues can trace them to magazines and don’t need to modify feed ramps anyway. The newer generation magazines from C Products are hands down the best.
great video...sweet gun... about to start my build on a 7.62x39...quick question...can you buy the "standard" lower or do I need as special lower for this caliber?
Darryl McCall there are lowers out there from PSA and others that accept AK magazines, but that isn’t required. The gun in the video uses a standard forged Aero Precision Gen 2 lower.
When you build this, did you take it to a gunsmith afterwards to make sure everything was legit before taking it to the range? This video inspired me to make my own. I bought the BRA BCG aaaaaand the armaspec recoil spring. Might be a little much, but I wanted a smooth action. I will make a video when its built in about a month. But I'm wondering if its necessary to take to a gunsmith.
If you bought the BRA BCG with the poly buffer, it will not be compatible with the ArmaSpec Stealth spring system. You may want to double check what you have, since these two parts cannot be used together. As for having a gunsmith look it over, it is a personal preference depending on your comfort level with the assembly process. I do not take my builds to the gunsmith as I see no need given my experience level. ARs are pretty simple devices compared to other gun builds and kits.
I do like that bolt catch/release. I built the some rifle but it went the exact opposite philosophy, i made a $478 truck gun. its a tank. I would love to upgrade to a lighter trigger spring or upgraded trigger but am fearful i wont be able to shoot my steel ammo any more. What has your reliability been with the giessle?
Dee Heych Geissele, Hiperfire, the Elf Match, and a few other triggers are actually designed to have a harder hammer strike without increasing the spring strength and pull weight. I have had perfect reliability with the Geissele SSA, Geissele SSA-E, Geissele Super 3 Gun, Hiperfire EDT3, Elftman Tactical Match, and a standard mil-spec trigger. I have however had light primer strikes running the ALG ACT and Velocity triggers in this gun.
Any thoughts on what would cause 2 broken extractor claws? No case head separations, just FTE because claw snapped off. Chamber need polished? Weaker buffer spring? What am I missing??
Are you running an adjustable gas block? If not, I recommend that as a potential fix. Broken extractors in x39 builds are often a result of being over gassed.
Do u need a specific type of gas block for a 7.62x39 ar47 Or will a regular ar15 gas block work ? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question I'm new to building ARs
Not a dumb question at all. Yes, a standard AR15 gas block will work; however, an adjustable gas block is recommended in order to relieve excess stress from the extractor, which is the weakest point of this particular system.
Guys i just finished up a 10.5 7.62x39 build, same lower as this guy, and the pws buffer tube. What buffer and spring are yall using? I had many failure to feeds out of both cproducts and ASC mags, as well as 3 failure to eject spent rounds. On top of that, about 9 light primer strikes, out of 170 rounds. Using a CNC 2 stage trigger.
Perry Bata with the ASC mags I had to dremmel down the front lip where bullets were catching, and there are notches under the feeding lips that need to be smoothed out. As for light primer strikes, mine would do it about as much as yours, one or two per 30 rounds, about as much as yours. I bought an enhanced firing pin from Redx and haven’t had a light primer strike in 200 rounds.
That's a nice ar47 build. I just did one myself. How many rounds have you put through it and what does the bolt look like? I'm looking for a higher end 7.62 bolt but i haven't found much in terms of reviews.
Douglas Hughes thanks for the reply, I'll check them out. Are new bolts just drop in or do they have to be headspaced? I've built several AKs and that is always an issue but i never hear about ar15s. Love green mountain, all the rifles I've built are sub MOA with their barrels and cheap ammo.
TheAllSeeingTruth the bolts are drop in ready. I bought a 7.62x39 m16 BCG and it's effin fantastic. As for customer service..... You won't find better people.
@@tavarisphillips8987 I just picked up a complete 7.62x39 upper from them and so far it has been great. Only ran 60 rounds through it so far but not a single hiccup and that was using a 28 round c products mag that shipped with the lower and a 30 round ASC mag. Using their firing pin and their BCG with a PSA EPT trigger. No light primer strikes with Tula, brown bear or Wolf poly.
@@ONEBADZ yeah I shot about 450 rounds of tula with mine and nothing to bad. First 200 hundred rounds I had 3 light primer strikes the last 250 rounds no problems at all
Just finished one 8" pistol. Kak barrel, Aero lower and upper. Locking back on empty mag. Not picking up the next round. Switched spring and buffer to one o know works. Didn't try multiple rounds with that set up. I have a H 2 or H 3 buffer. Any suggestions?
If the gun is running and locking back on the last round, you should have plenty of gas to strip the next round from the mag. Sounds like you have a magazine problem. I quit using ASC mags for that same issue. I’m only running C Products now and everything is perfect.
C products bought asc but the followers are different. I did a copy of your build. I built it off an 80% lower and a aero m4e1 upper I have yet to have a problem with it I broke an extractor on a radical BCG than got the BRA BCG an have yet to look back in the full build I have 2300$ into this build of mine that’s everything tooling and all of the build and parts I have one AR and it’s 7.62x39. The inspiration I got from your video made me build my therapy.
I recommend an adjustable gas block. It will reduce the excess wear on the extractor that is often caused by 7.62x39 ammo, especially steel cased (which is really all I run). The added benefit is significantly reduced recoil. The Superlative Arms is an excellent option. Additionally, a nice muzzle comp will help. I recommend the VG6 Gamma 762, as seen in the video.
@@djhughes017 thanks for the reply! I recently finished my x39 AR build and it's been flawless besides this thing beating my shoulder up after a day of shooting, 0 malfunctions with about 400 rounds of steel so far
@@Jixzer That's great. Try the adjustable gas block. It will also increase reliability over the life of the rifle and you will get more rounds out of your extractor and bolt before a failure. I also recommend putting a spare bolt assembly in the grip, just in case. If you have a Magpul grip, they also make a grip insert that will hold a spare bolt and extractor.
Thanks for making this video and I do have a few questions. Its nice to see someone else building a high quality and smooth shooting AR47 since it seems that everyone else is building a cheap budget one at least on UA-cam. Most people seem to drill out their gas ports to make the system extremely over gassed which fixes the reliability issue but not the "smoothness" and recoil impulse. I am running a 10.5" carbine length gas system barrel with a superlative arms adjustable gas block like yourself. I believe the issue I have been having is due to the buffer and buffer spring (mainly the spring) in relation to feeding with my magazine. I was originally using a cheap/weak carbine buffer spring and would pull the charging handle to the rear letting it fly forward but the rounds (steel cased WPA 124 grain) would not feed out of the magazine and get stuck 1/2 way up the M4 feed ramps. If I pulled the charging handle back again and let it go home it would then feed. This happened on maybe 1 out of 7 rounds. I then switched to a sprinco blue and then red which is their extra power spring and have been getting better results out of it. I recently tried ASC, C-Products Defense, and now the Ross Defense Systems Unimag and the problems with feeding have been eliminated with their follower and magazine body design. I called Sprinco and they said maybe I should try an Orange which is made for like carbine 308 builds etc and a really light buffer but I am not sure about this since I have already dumped a fair amount of money into the build. Since I am also running a law tactical folding stock I am not able to use the BRA BCG since it needs the adaptor in the rear of the BCG to meet with the buffer and spring but I am curious to hear about your opinions and suggestions on this build since you seem to have a fair amount of knowledge on higher end AR builds and have been dealing with some of the same issues in trying to smooth out and make the firearm reliable. Also if you are curious to see how it shoots I uploaded a UA-cam video last night about some of the fixes I have already done on the build and would appreciate it if you looked at that to better understand some of the issues I am having.
So are you having failures to feed only when manually charging the rifle? For proper function testing, you really need to live fire it. I will check out your video. Thanks.
That thing is dead sexy (in fat bastard voice) lol. They say great minds think alike. The only thing different i was planning on doing is going with the Sharps Rifle co. BCG but definitely considered one from BRA. After i saw the uppers from LWRC i knew what i wanted but couldnt afford something that nice so thank God AP came out with the Enhanced uppers for the little guy or in this case the poor guys lol.
Who makes the best barrel is always a topic of spirited debate. So, I will give you my opinion based on my personal experiences. My favorite barrel manufacture for 7.62x39 AR47 barrels is Green Mountain Rifle Barrels. I think they are the best balance between high quality and overall cost given the specs that I like (i.e., chrome-lined bore and chamber). However, others prefer nitride barrels for this caliber (another topic of spirited debate). Therefore, I would feel more than confident running barrels in this caliber from other manufactures like Faxon, KAK (even their Value Line), Brownell's Premium (made by Saturn), Black Rifle Arms (using Ballistic Advantage blanks), or even a less expensive option from a reputable company like Del-Ton or Palmetto State Armory will work well for most applications. There are cheaper alternatives, some of which I have had pretty good luck with. If you are looking to build a cheap rifle for plinking or whatever, Bear Creek Arsenal is worth a look. Personally, I would be less inclined to buy anything cheaper than those.
@@djhughes017 wow I didn't even know some of those companies made ar47 barrels thanks for the help and the quick response also is Bear Creek arsenal any good ? I've looked at their completed uppers and at the price point they are I'm worried that it's going to be very low quality and have u had any experience with radical firearms and their ar47 rifles ?
phet bounchareun All parts are exactly the same except for the barrel, bolt, magazines, and muzzle device. Just make sure you’re using a trigger that strikes hard enough to ignite burdan primed ammo.
It was a stripped M4E1 upper. They are available from Aero directly or many other retailers, including Primary Arms. I think I got this one from Schuyler Arms.
Started out running ASC but they all failed at 300-500 rounds and would no longer feed. Switch the CProducts DuraMags and they are excellent. The rifle has about 6200 rounds through it now and still runs like a top.
This video is pretty old now. I am still running the original barrel and BCG from this video. At present, I am at about 7,500 rounds total. All but a couple of boxes of brass have been Tula, Wolf, and RAS steel-cased. In that time, I have broken 2 extractors and am on the third. After breaking the first, I spoke with BRA and they strongly recommended an adjustable gas block to mitigate extractor and bolt wear. I do not believe an adjustable gas block has a place on a standard AR outside of competitive shooting, but it's a must for 7.62x39. With the ABG, I have about 3,200 rounds on the current extractor (BRA extractor).
My opinion after dealing with the AR-47 for years .
Enhanced Firing pin , c- products mags , and adjustable Gas block is all you need to make this round work correctly in AR platform
@Janga Lang definitely
Were can I get mags for this platform in Pa.
Piston system is a HUGE upgrade
The bolt face and extractor are flaws as well. Keep a spare
@@mikehancho1613 I'm actually about to buy a spare to store in my magpul pistol grip
Awesome review. I’m planning a 7.62x39 build and found this very helpful!
Wow, after spending days trying to figure out how to build one, your video popped up. I hate to say it, but thanks Google. And thank you Mr. Hughes, fir making this post!
Thanks and glad you found it!
I’m trying to troubleshoot my radical 7.62x39 now. I’ll take some of your advice and hopefully I’ll get it running soon.
Magazines are the one critical thing with that platform if you have a good magazines, the gun will run very well. I can speak from experience.
I appreciate the list you posted in the description link. It’s very helpful
No problem!
Nice video, I've been contemplating building one of these with on of my lowers.
I'm gonna go with BCA too
I'm sure someone has said this already, but you should probably include video of you actually firing the weapon to really sell it's quality.
If anyone is having problems with magazines I like to suggest the UNIMAG from Ross Defense Systems, will cycle eight different calibers to include 7.62 x 39 works great and very well made. Got mine at Primary ARMS.
Carlos Zerino thanks for the tip bro! Just built my ar47.
C- Products work wonderful on a 7.62x39 AR for sure......BRA's are la creme de la creme when it comes to BCG's .........There is nothing better !
I wish you added some range footage of how it ran with your setup.
I would try those c-product,i use them on my built and no issue whatsoever
I really enjoy my KS-47 but I do have a Faxon 7.62x39 barrel sitting here to build a AR47 😁
Would you prefer the KS47 or Aero setup? Was looking at the KS and really like what I see (though wish bolt held open), and didn't know Aero made a 762x39 lower...
Must haves: enhanced firing pin, full power hammer strikes, for mags use c products, rze unimags, or d&h mags
Thank You! This is what I needed from the interwebs today. Been planning on building my first AR47 and needed a good start.
Great breakdown on everything👍
Great video very very informative. trail and error is very expensive Thank You
Thank you for the positive feedback.
Nice, I'm currently enhancing my 7.62x39. By the way you should definitely get the c product mags.👍👌
Sweet setup
Hey Doug, not sure how but me and you ended up with almost the exact same assembly/build and I just saw your vid earlier this week. Although my trigger, buffer tube are POF-USA. 3 1/2 single stage, drop- in flat trigger w/pins and anti tilt tube. Upper is 16" from Mid-State Firearms. It's awesome to see you hunted around for quality such as B.R.A. Ty for making the vid. Definitely ordering that gas block.
good job buddy
Great video! Thanks for the parts list. How’s this build doing today?
Very nice build! Thanks for all the info ..... this could be the next build for my collection.
Thank you so much! They are fun builds. Best of luck!
Awesome thanks
Very nice. Thorough. Informative. Thanks.
Try Young Manufacturing Extractor. I am starting with battle rile arms bolt first but may grab the young extractor once bra bolt extractor breaks
Awesome build there! Question for ya with your buffer and spring your using any pressure signs also with the gas block are you restricting gas or bleeding it?
What bcg? I did an 8in with a bear creek arsenal bcg and have broken the extractor claw twice now.
Bca lugs break every 1000 rnds or so but i just keep a spare. Bolt on me in my pack. But i have 556 762 several ar15s 7.62x39mm r very great for hunting guns no joke
You gotta' upload some video running your build. So many have issues with the platform, it'd be nice to see some video of reliably operating AR47 platforms.
most people with issues are running upgraded triggers. I built mine using mil-spec parts and I am nearly at 2000 rounds with no malfunctions

Time for an update....👍👍👍🇺🇸
Hey Doug. Thanks for a great video. Your voice sounds familiar, do you produce current content about firearms under a diff name ?
Thanks
which arisaka light mount is that? Side scout mount MCX?
How do you like your bolt carrier group buy Black Rifle arms? Was it worth the price?
Yes, I have thousands of rounds through this thing and the bolt has very little noticeable wear. It also cycles very smoothly and quietly. Most importantly, it looks cool.
Thank you so much for put a list in the description. This will be my first project for sure. But how is the accuracy at 100yrds?
Thank you! I’m getting about 2 to 3 MOA at 100 yards with steel-cased Tula from Walmart. Pretty good for that low grade ammo. I’m tighter with brass, but haven’t measured it since I don’t shoot brass often.
Nice rifle...
Thank you!
Regular 5.56 AR lower?
Do you sell your builds? I am retired Army and been looking for something close to the M16 which I loved.
Not these days. My state banned the transfer of most of these rifles recently.
Btw, check out MASP latchless CH. Have had a blast with it n' zero issues
Can I use a regular ar 15 lower
Man my bca bcg extractor claw has broken twice now but it’s an 8in.
Interesting
What upper did you use? The regular one or the xl
Thanks Douglas for the info, and again awesome build!
Do the Green Mountain barrels have wider feed ramps on the 7.62x39 than the .556 ?
They do not, but they are cut well and line up perfectly with my upper. No feeding issues at all.
What buffer weight
Great review, but would like to see it in action. C Products mags, hard to find. Seems everyone is out and when you call the factory they don't know where they have shipped all they can do is give you a list of distributors.
Ordered mine from Optics Planet. They were out of stock when I ordered them, but they were great with letting me know when they expected their next shipment. Took about a month, but it was expected.
I ended up getting 6 from Primary Arms. They’re excellent!
Is this bcg the one made specific for 7.62 caliber or just 5.56? Noticed both were on website. Pretty sure both have enhanced firing pins as well.
This is a dedicated 7.62x39 bolt and ships with the enhanced firing pin and extractor kit.
Professor Hughes Thanks for reply. There’s only $15 difference in price but the 7.62 version is out of stock (my luck)
great video...sweet gun... about to start my build on a 7.62x39...quick question...can you buy the "standard" lower or do I need as special lower for this caliber?
Darryl McCall there are lowers out there from PSA and others that accept AK magazines, but that isn’t required. The gun in the video uses a standard forged Aero Precision Gen 2 lower.
so buy a 200 dollar bolt carrier for a 12 dollar firing pin. The boron coating is nice. Good high dollar stuff at black rifle arms.
Who makes the buffer tube?
Primary Weapons Systems
What type of buffer spring are you using?
Douglas Hughes thanks allot for the info. I'm taking a screen shot!
@@djhughes017 roger will co. Got any suggestions on ones that you reccomend? Thanks!
Amazing Built!!! This will be my next built for sure :) Will be PMing you a lot if you dont mind :)
Sounds good! I’m happy to help.
That's a nice ar47 build. I just did one myself. How many rounds have you put through it and what does the bolt look like? I'm looking for a higher end 7.62 bolt but i haven't found much in terms of reviews.
TheAllSeeingTruth thank you! I have 4K rounds through it now. The bolt is from Black Rifle Arms. Check out their website.
No one ever talk about tge diamondback AR chambered in 7.62x39? Is it not good?
While I have no personal experience with their 7.62x39 options, I have been underwhelmed by their 5.56 rifles. You can get much better for your money.
@@djhughes017 which riffle? Im thinking diamondback
What’s the best or optimal distance to zero a AR15 7.62x39 rifle?
I zero mine at 50-200 unless I am running an optic with a reticle that requires a 25/100 zero
Douglas Hughes thanks for the fast reply! I’m running a sig whiskey 3 hellfire 4-12x50 . I tried to zero at 100 yards but my groupings were off
What are the best ways to reduce recoil and to make it feel more 556
I recommend an adjustable gas block.
Who makes the best higher quality ar47 barrels ? I haven't been able to find any and I've looked everywhere
AR Precision makes a nice melonited barrel very accurate as well.
Green Mountain Rifles and also Faxon
Are the upper and lower chambered in 556/223? The bolt ,barrel and muzzle in 7.62? Correct?
akathepanda correct. The bolt, barrel, muzzle device, and magazines are for 7.62x39. Everything else is standard.
Thank You! Good day!
Would you sell this rifle?
I'm new to AR47, but you put 7.62x39 upper with 7.62x39 BCG on AR 223, 556 lower?
phet bounchareun All parts are exactly the same except for the barrel, bolt, magazines, and muzzle device. Just make sure you’re using a trigger that strikes hard enough to ignite burdan primed ammo.
Where'd you get that dust cover, buddy?
Patriot Rifleworks
I'm planning on building myself an ar47 too, for the lower can it be any ar15 lower or is there a specific 7.62x39 lower?
Jaime Rascon if you use an ar lower you will have to use certain clips in order for your lower to accept the 7.62
I used an ar15 lower for mine worked fine
This is a Gucci ar47
Where did you get your areo upper?
It was a stripped M4E1 upper. They are available from Aero directly or many other retailers, including Primary Arms. I think I got this one from Schuyler Arms.
What mags are you running?
Started out running ASC but they all failed at 300-500 rounds and would no longer feed. Switch the CProducts DuraMags and they are excellent. The rifle has about 6200 rounds through it now and still runs like a top.
Shoot it, range review would have been nice.
I’ll get a range review up soon. Thanks for the suggestion.
how much into this build besides the Eotech?
Doug E-fresh about 1600 mixing up parts flash hiders and comps. But go with the m4e1 upper true free float hand-guard
Fantastic build my friend. Did you try any other magazines yet? What do you think about the AR stoner 7.62x39 magazines?
Drew4078 thanks for the comment! I haven’t tried AR Stoner magazines.
100% reliability and perfect fit and finish and dropped free with pro mag. Just my 2 cents, havent tried any others
2 to 3 MOA .
this rifle shoots 1.5 to 2 MOA consistently with both Tula and Wolf. Steel plates put to 200 are no problem at all.
These should have been a standard so long ago
Where did you get the 7.62 engraved dust cover?
Kevin Schmidt patriot tactical
CHECK OUT VELOCITY TRIGGER.COM THEY MAKE A 4LB STEEL CASE AMMO.
7.62x38 you Haven't had a problem with it. Well he'll you changed about everything on it. LMAO.
It's assembly not build
Semantics. I understand if you're being technical.
