I feel the main element Alex was missing most of this movie viewing was that Wanda's been _killing_ people since the jump (thanks to her being corrupted by the Darkhold). Before she dreamwalk'd herself, she was sending creatures. The first Dr. Strange we see getting killed in the intro was done by Wanda. Also, it's not like she'd just be with her kids peacefully - she'd be killing their _actual_ mother to take her place. If Dr. Strange were to accept her deal and go to another universe to be with Christine, he'd be turning his back on his own universe (616) and leaving it more vulnerable.

It's because, her actions are justified tbh and when you remember that she always was the type of hero that's like " i can sacrifice my love for the entire universe " so we know she's good ,however all happened to her is loss , so her ending two people doesn't seem that bad ( the 2 people are herself from other universe and America) and tbh compared to the damage other avengers do that's not even bad ,but as she said strange is an hypocrite and so is everyone, her kids are very much real because her power is real too

@@niraxlevi9930, what justifies killing an innocent girl, committing genocide and threatening infinite universes just so she can have kids? She can easily create another hex with her kids, without mentally enslaving innocent people. The difference between Wanda and the Avengers is Wanda wants to have kids and the Avengers literally want to save the world. Strange gave Thanos the time stone because it was "the only way." No matter how stupid the one in fourteen million thing is, it's something that was established and Strange did it because he was saving the universe. Wanda's actions are far from justified.

Because they're hypocrite just like she said, it's clear Wanda intentions from the star, she's not exactly a good person but the Strange and Wong acted like they're better then her or had high morals, their intentions may be good but at the end they are willing to do the same thing Wanda did which was the first reasons they fought her, Strange used the darkhold knowing what it did to Wanda and his other varients, Wong decided they had to killed America because he thought they had no other way....... No matter the cost but how they want to protect and fight for the good reasons was the reason they're better than Wanda but it's not because at the end they were all ready to do the same

That whole wiping out mutants is often touted as a great feat for Wanda without including the context of it happening:
      1. She was literally insane with grief when she did that. She had the mental breakdown of all mental breakdowns.
      2. Genetically changing 90% of all mutants and removing the genetic component that gives them their powers (some powers being what keeps some mutants alive) not only meant that she directly killed mutants whose powers kept them alive, but also adds a whole sociocultural issue to the event and a big identifier why most mutants view Wanda as public enemy #1 and hate her. Wanda is very likely the most powerful Avenger. She is also the most prone to mental instability. As we saw in Wandavision, she can rewrite reality to suit her and even in that series she wasn't fully conscious of what she was doing, it was more as a reaction to grief. A fully realized Wanda wouldn't need America, she would just change her reality into the reality of another universe. But again, she's unstable, so things would unravel around her eventually. She is the embodiment of "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".

    • @Leekle2ManE
      @Leekle2ManE Рік тому +16

Part of me doesn't like how I ended that. To be clear, I personally do not think of Wanda as a villain. If the things that happened to her in the MCU happened to me, I can't say I would fair any better. She lost her parents and just when she finally _starting_ to come to terms with that, she loses her brother. Then the one pillar of support she has after that, Vision, is killed once by her own hand and then moments later again by Thanos. And before she knows it, she's pulled from that moment and into another massive fight with the guy who killed Vision. She's seen so very much trauma in such a very short amount of time. She would probably need years if not decades of therapy to unpack it all. And when you have someone with universe altering powers, years of therapy is years too long.

    • @Leekle2ManE
      @Leekle2ManE Рік тому +9

Not entirely, but it played a component. When you are going through the stages of grief and you hit the denial stage and can rewrite the world around you, that kind of power would definitely make a person wonder why they have to play by society's rules. So I would argue it was a combination of the trauma, her powerset and the Darkhold that ended up twisting her thinking. If you look at how things were playing out up to the moment Agatha confronted her, things weren't getting better. If anything Agatha played unwitting hero by snapping Wanda out of her delusion long enough for her more rational side to see what she was doing.

12:27 "What would happen is Strange gave Wanda what she wanted?" She's corrupted by that book. Right now she's being compelled to gain the power to travel the multiverse, using her kids as a justification. But the justification is only that, an excuse. Once she has that kind of power, she'll be compelled to go further by either destroying every potential threat in the multiverse (destroying everything) or by conquering it.

Also, TVA won't be touched on because this takes place after Loki, after the "sacred timeline" was unconstricted, so the TVA, as we know it, is no longer. Also, Scarlett Witch is technically still Wanda, but she's been severely corrupted by the Darkhold, and with enough power, I don't think she'd be able to keep from tearing apart the Universe. Just like how Doctor Strange did the same in What If after using the Darkhold.

The thing about Wanda that isn't so obvious unless you've read the comics is that she's mentally unstable. Not sure if it's because of the influence of her Chaos Magic, or her troubled upbringing, but she's lapsed into and out of some severe psychological episodes multiple times. The corruption of The Darkhold doesn't help.
As for the blonde at the end, her name is Clea. she's the niece of Dormammu, the demon Strange fought in the first Dr. Strange movie, a powerful sorceress in her own right, and in the comics becomes Strange's wife and his replacement as Sorcerer Supreme. Of course, we don't know how closely her MCU storyline will follow the comics, but I'd hazard a guess she'll be a love interest at least.

"Is Wanda the Scarlet Witch?" is a profound, and hotly debated, question. Marvel has a tendency to create forces which inhabit hosts to generate its most powerful entities, such as the Phoenix Force in Jean Grey or the Power Cosmic which enables Galactus to exist. So it may well be that the "Nemesis" aspect is immortal but multiplies the existing power of a host, supercharging their talents.

There was only one TVA in S1 and no alternate universes because He Who Remains looked after and maintained the sacred timeline, which prevented any other universe from coming close to ours, to the point of basically not existing. Her power is literally reality manipulation. So like in the beginning of MoM, all those trees *really were* apple trees in a real orchard- and then she changed reality to warp them into something else- it wasn't an illusion. So, her children *WERE* real, just like Monica said. Everything was *real* it just wasn't natural. Wanda has the ability to create life spontaneously- which was also foretold in the Darkhold.

As I said before they were real and she’s not “living out her mommy fantasy”, she is a real mom who had a very real pregnancy Doctor Strange was her doctor and confirmed that there was nothing wrong in her pregnancy. Until 2019, Marvel Studios legally (and ironically) couldn't use X-Men or even mention them or say the word "mutant" because 20th Century Fox held the film rights to them.
However, after the Walt Disney company bought Fox's tv and film divisions, Marvel was able to take back the film rights to X-Men, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four among other characters.
As a result of the merger, the Fox corporation became their own thing. So they had to change the name of the tv and film studio. 20th Century Fox is now known as 20th Century Studios.
Now that I got that out of the way, here's the real fun detail:
Wanda's goal was pretty similar to Kingpin's ambitions in Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. He too wanted his family back, but it would be at the expense of the multiverse.
My favorite part of this entire movie was hearing the reorchestrated opening track to X-Men: The Animated Series when Charles arrived.
Patrick Stewart previously portrayed Charles Xavier/Professor X in the X-Men live-action films, but this version of Charles is not the same incarnation.
838-Charles is pretty much a merger of both the animated series and the live-action films. He's even wearing the same suit and riding the same hoverchair as his counterpart from the cartoon.
In fact, the success that the X-Men cartoon had was the reason that 20th Century Fox had decided to create their film series to begin with. I recommend checking them out sometime. Most of them are really good.
X-Men: The Animated Series ran for five seasons from 1992 to 1997, but now Marvel Studios is producing a sixth season set to premiere this fall.
The continuation will be under the name X-Men '97. Even though it has the Marvel Studios logo, it’s not MCU canon. So you don’t necessarily have to watch it to maintain continuity.
However, if it’s something you’re interested in and whether you wanna watch it in your own time or react to it, I recommend watching the original X-Men cartoon first.
Most of the original voice cast is returning, and a seventh season is already underway.
In other news, a Fantastic Four film is in development now and it will premiere on Valentine’s Day 2025.
Originally, MCU Spider-Man director Jon Watts was supposed to direct this new film. Instead, he'll be taking a sabbatical from superhero films until it's time to work on the MCU's fourth Spider-Man entry.
In the meantime, Jon worked on a new Star Wars show called Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law coming to Disney Plus this year.
The new Fantastic Four film will now be directed by Matt Shakman, the same guy who directed all nine episodes of WandaVision.
Black Bolt is from the Inhumans show that unfortunately didn't do so well, but words like inhuman and terrigen are all the more reason you should watch Marvel's Agents of SHIELD at least during your free time. It's seven seasons long, but the characters of the show make it all the more enjoyable.
A handful of reactors including but not limited to Blind Wave, Torchwood Boy, Sesskasays, FictionalDarling, Storm Akima, and The Normies would recommend you jump right in.

The concept in this movie of Wanda wanting to use America's powers to get her kids back and keep them safe is loosely based off of the House of M comic book. (I haven't finished it, but spoilers ahead for the comic.)
Wanda, in the grief of her husband and children being gone, uses her reality warping abilities to re-create the universe where everyone gets what they want. In this new world, the Avengers don't exist, most of the population has mutant abilities, and some of the X-Men are good and some are evil, working for basically that world's Hydra. So yes. If she got America, she could enslave the multiverse.

Love how you've been team Wanda through the movie.
To answer your question whether "the scarlet witch" is still Wanda or not, yes she still is Wanda. And there is only one scarlet witch (as far as I'm aware. Marvel universe isn't that straight forward lol), which is our Wanda (616). None of the other Wandas is scarlet witch. Also scarlet witch isn't necessarily evil. In the movie it was the corruption of the darkhold that caused all tge trouble. It's a shame they didn't explain the power if the darkhold.
Since there is no other scarlet witch in any other universe, the illuminati didn't know about her existence and the limits of her power. Because their wanda isn't this much powerful. As a result they take her serious at first. And to be fair, even Agatha thought scarlet being to be a myth as well. "the Scarlet witch" just leveled our wanda up to her full potential and the darkhold corrupted her. And here is the result. And fun fact, there is no storyline where anyway defeats her (the scarlet witch) unless she gives up on her own. So yes, she is the strongest Avenger.
Loved the reaction. Team wanda all the way!

Alex, some of the details at 25:00 will blow your mind. Not only is this scene awesome as you said, but it's packed full of symbolism. Xavier is walking even though he's a cripple, indicated what his psychic projection of himself is like. Then the actual place where Wanda is being "kept" is actually the bombed out ruins of her home in Sokovia, and I can PROVE it to you. The lace from the bedding, which you can see right above where Xavier is trying to pull Wanda out, is the exact same lace from the bedding in Wandavision, episode 8, when she's viewing the memory of when the bomb hit her home. It's actually such incredibly thoughtful set design.

It's why Reed was so sure of himself against Wanda; they never really lose in the comics. They didn't know a being could be that viscous. That's why they couldn't stop her.

Now what Strange COULD have done at the beginning, is suggest to Wanda that with America's help, not by forcibly taking her power, they find a reality where her kids have lost their mother, thus Wanda would not have to kill her own variant to stay there, and America gets to stay free. Also this movie has to take place after Loki, because before the death of He Who Remains, there was no multiverse. It gets confusing because a lot of Loki takes place outside of time but essentially, as soon as Loki steals the tesseract and begins the events of the show, the show also ends and the multiverse is created by Sylvie.

Finally. Seeing Wanda's journey from Age Of Ultron to this is crazy and ofc Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda) and Benedict (Strange) killed it.. It's actually the darkest movie of the Mcu and had the most brutal death scenes
    Edit :
Wanda our wanda 616 is The Scarlet Witch she's the only Scarlet Witch with the Chton's Chaos Magic even with the other Wanda's in other universes she's a nexus being just like Kang a nexus being, "nexus Beings are rare individual entities with the ability to affect probability and thus the future, thereby altering the flow of the Universal Time Stream ..." Comic book nerds knew the day Wanda and Pietro were in Age Of Ultron that she's the Scarlet Witch, seing her evolving from her first movie to this was a long journey, she's not dead and will have an important role in the future of the Mcu, maybe not as an avenger after all she k*illed and enslaved people but she'll help for sure
I'm also with Wanda not strange lol, and yeah she's the strongest avenger Keven Feige (President of Marvel) responded to that by saying she was the only one who could've ki*ll Thanos, in the comics she's way more powerful than that.. they took more than 7 years to show us some of her potential here.
If Strange didn't fight who knows what Wanda would want ? Also she wanted to k*ll America and obviously k*ll another Wanda
Some potential scenes of the Scarlet Witch leaked during the Kamar-Taj fight Wanda was supposed to kill some sorcerers using other dead bodies by her telekinesis powers but that was too much for a Marvel movie and we lost. 40 minutes were cut sadly, in my opinion Wanda and Gorr were the best villains here and overall best villains we've seen in Marvel.
