Looks like a group of friends having a good time. Brave to even attempt to cover Tool. Very intricate. Good sound. Good work guys.
Anyone who can play this song all the way through is a fucking rockstar in my book.
I want to tear your book down and burn it.
Oh Wendy, you're just jelly.
thedarkener There is absolutely nothing to be jealous of here.
Ok, I dare you to post your own cover of this song on UA-cam.
thedarkener You know I'm pretty sure any of us here do that because we don't want to screw this song!
I don't know why everyone is being so hard on you
This cover is very well done. The only thing that I miss is the strenght that Maynard puts on his songs. Your singing is more delicate, but is definitely on point.
The instruments could use better recording but overall it's all fine
AND THE BEST PART: Your music taste. Deftones, Tool, SOAD...
It shouldn't be JUST FINE! What person trying to break into the music has ever done so being "just fine"?
Well knowing that the very majority of music uploaded to UA-cam is fucking shit I'd say "just fine" is a good starting point
***** just fine=generic emotionless crap, miles away from talented
Post a better cover yourselves and then you'll be able to walk around critizising.
To Language of eyes, keep rocking, disregard anyone discouraging you
+Gabe GR I think I did ok.
john bohlander: I think you mean "EMpowering", for one. Also, should be "sung".
These kids did a fantastic job and you should be congratulating them for a job well done!! And the most important part, is that they were obviously having FUN while they did it....and THAT is what music is ALL ABOUT!!
Language of Eyes, I think you did an AWESOME job ;)
The singer doesn't look flirty with her smiles; she looks ecstatic that they've got this song to a point where they feel confident to record and post it. I would be, too. I can't sing in tune to save my life.
A whole new vibe has been added to this song because of singer's voice and 'blurred' and spacious production... And actually I love it!!!
And to all you negative nellys out there, lets see you cover this and sound better!!! What ever happened to encouragement???!!!!
why is this video still on the internet
Cause its good, and no one will ever take down a video just cause you dont like it.
They're Tool fans so they're ok in my book, nice one
I absoluly love this!!!!
I LOVE IT!!!!!
The singer seemed to be having a lot of fun singing the song, maybe she doesn't understand that the whole basis of the song is dark and eerie? Not something you're supposed to be smiling at while you sing about death
Singer can't enjoy her song?
And it's not singing about death it's about living vicariously through horrid acts portrayed in the media....
X3nonEyez
Which is still on the topic of death, I get the song. I'm just saying she seemed super happy about it, it just surprised me a little lol
I know a dark metal song is serious, but you can't always be sad when music is something you love doing. Basically, create a song that suits you, and just do it with passion.
RK Sandlin Sorry Maynard...
Wait..
Sorry, I've just been informed you are not affiliated in any way shape or form with Maynard and have no possible idea of how Maynard would feel if he found this cover
+Psyco Babble Actually, I think it would make sense that she looks happy while singing this song. It's supposed to sound dark and sinister, and the lyrics imply enjoyment of watching the tragedies.
Kinda hard to make any Tool song a "fun" song, let alone this one. Way too many smiles and cheerfulness.
Listening to the attempt at the intro makes me truly appreciate the complicated time signature of this song.
Just amazing.
YOU GUYS KNOW MUSIC NOT THE CRAP ON THE RADIO ! JUST TO LET YOU KNOW NOT MANY CAN COVER TOOL YOU ROCK!
Covers are not about perfect recreation. Are about a personal touch of a known Song.. And this one totally have it. Its sound fucking amazing. keep rocking people!
Always love this cover
Ikr, but it just shows how unique and unmatchable tool is especially Maynard's vocals.
Impressive! Sure some things could be better...but Tool is SO hard to replicate. If I was out at a bar/club with a live band and these guys played this.....I'd would be THRILLED!
Very awesome. You guys are rockstars!
Badass! keep it real!
ive been watching alot of covers lately. it angers me when people put negative comments on here about them, especially when the musicians are so young. in my opinion the people who criticize these artist cant do any better themselves. i like to think tool would applaud this band. and if there are any musicians commenting there probably going to give these people credit-knowing how hard it is to play this type of music.
Anyone who listens to tool knows how complex they are and for this young group to pull it off is amazing great job..anyone that wants to pick it apart try it your self...that is all
they didn't pull it off though...
I NEED TO WATCH THINGS DIE! YAY! SO FUN! WHAT A LIGHT HEARTED LYRIC!
OMG U KIDS ARE AMAZING ! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU YOU ARE TALENTED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much douchebagism in this comments.. geez! It is unbelievable how people turn up to be the best at bad criticism of someone else.
Keep up the good work! If I may suggest for your next cover something of Portishead or Massive Attack. I think Olivia has great voice which would fit perfectly in, for example, Teardrop cover.
Nope. I've seen 8 year olds show more emotion than this. This is precisely the type of shallow facade people like Maynard rage against. Ironic.
Not to piss on any musical attempt to cover Tool, either. The talent is not in question, rather the experience and expression of the emotion that is essential to Tool's music. What is Tool if not but a plea for the human to experience more deeply?
jesus folks their just kids, the fact that they are covering tool is enough to give them full credit, in fairness when you or anyone here was that age, do you really think you understood the awe inspiring meaning of tools songs or music or any art form in it's entirety, did you even understand emotion at that age? im not sure if i did, its very easy to analyse and understand music now but i doubt you were that analytical when you were that age.
Exactly- If you don't know how to swim, stay the F out of the ocean. If you don't know how to create emotion and rage while performing music, resist from playing tool. The kid has a talent and I along with many recognize that but if you place yourself on the stage for others too look at you, expect to be criticized- The good and the bad. TALENT = good **** EMOTION = bad. Criticism gives you the opportunity to become better. Morons will make statements " can you do better. " I didn't look at this video in order to make one better, I looked at it in order to enjoy a rendition of a tool song. Unfortunately it lacked something and if she BRINGS the emotion and does another take on this- I would certainly be proud! REMAKE it and bring it little one! BRING the rage, feel the pain- imagine everything you love in life was just found dead! Connect and understand the lyrics. Without this, you lose the essence which Tool proudly proclaims as their own. the emotion and feeling of frustration is as important as the notes themselves. PLEASE please remake it.
yeh and once again you seem to be forgetting the fact that 8 year olds havent gone through enough of lifes enfeavours to understand emotion in art, by all means criticize, thats not the problem, the problem is criticizing someone over something that is beyond their grasp, if this was 20 year old singing then by all means i would agree with you, i also hear people here saying they should at least act like their showing emotion, but that would be the most ironic of all, i have a feeling if maynard james keenan was asked "should people cover your songs with emotion?" his reply would be something like..... people should play our songs however the fuck they want, one of the main staples of tools music is non conformity and here you all are telling kids how to conform and do things properly.....
No I didn't forget. You don't seem to accept that If you don't know how or if you lack the ability to create emotion and rage while performing music, resist from playing tool. Just accept the fact that the song does not fit her ability- regardless of age or excuses pertaining to life experiences. The bottom life is ...WAS it an attempt...why yes indeed. Did it fail on a particular level...Why many believe it did. Where did it fail?............well that would be the emotion. You don't need to be a certain age to connect with an emotion. Are you seriously of the opinion that an 8 year old does not know happy, sad, mad with the ability to provide examples- if not go watch the Olsen twins when they were little. Emotions are taught in kindergarten and adapted at an earlier age. You need to come to terms with reality which is that it was a failed attempt. I can appreciate another excuse/rebuttal but after this you are just going to sound incomprehensible of factual information.
nice job guys....this was soo cool! Great cover. i like the diff voice.
awesome guys!!! You guys really sound good! Keep playing!!!!!
You guys are great!
I'm A huge tool fan who has been playing gEETar for 10 plus years and I think you guys do a good job. 9 out of 10 of these people criticizing you can't play an instrument or carry a 4/4 beat. I'm with thedarkener, anyone who can play an entire tool song is awesome in my book. It's obviously not as good as the original but the fact you guys are putting yourself out there is great. Keep up the good work.
Awesome tribute!!
Don't let the negative get you down, you guys did a good job.
Damn just checked it out, thanks man. That is how one covers amazing Tool song and that little girl singing is amazing.
Thank you drummer, for slaughtering this song
you can tell she is reading the lyrics haha and she needs to sing in a higher octave or with more aggression or something, I mean, it's Tool! And some parts got off beat or out of sync with the vocals. But I'm not going to dislike, because what these girls did is better than most people could ever do in their lives.
As a huge Tool fan I would say nice attempt, I think nobody could ever cover the vocals, and the only person that can cover the extremely complicated drums on a tool song is Meytal Cohen
Good job. I know a band called "The Cover Junkies" and they won't cover tool because they are almost impossible to cover.
already covering tool is nearly one thumb up worth!
guys... Tool is led by Bass, if you don't have it loud and proud then all fans of the songs will have a problem with it. other than that it is great
nice!
drum mics are always pointed at the drum otherwise you get what you hear. the frequency bounce around that wall.
felicitaciones, he buscado por todos lados y no eh encontrado un cover decente de la banda a la que mas amo en el mundo. tocan y cantan muy bien amigos los felicito. ! sigan asi
Great
Was thinking exactly this.
SIMPLY FUCKING AWFUL
im surprised by the huge amount of dislikes. this sure is one of the few stronger tool covers on youtube.
What an amazing song to attempt! There is a great vid of kids playing 46&2. Keep learning TOOL! The thought that kids are being exposed to bands like TOOL gives me some hope for the future of music
Great job kiddos, I say that b.c. your all young enough to be my kid. It great to see your learning from the masters of craft.. Keep up the hard work..
brilliant stuff guys, volume seemed to drop off the scale after the intro, I wanna see you more
I admire you guys. Tool is in a class by itself. You guys are great
Also to these people saying "They're just kids" most great musicians/artists/celebrities whatever started when they were kids
Great effort.
I think its good. Great job. Its cool that you do different instruments :)
Check out the 46 and 2 cover presented by Aaron O'Keefe and his students. Now that's a cover!!
Must say good job guys. Singing needs work but proud to hear kids listening to tool
I think its awesome. I love the interpretation. And I have to agree both the girls are easy on the eyes and I always welcome girl rockers.
thats good constructive criticism. finally, a real musician that cares about tunes on youtube! thumbs up brother.
nicely done! very ambitious group to cover!
sounds awesome considering how much work tool puts into their artwork and for how old they are and the equipment they are using. Appreciate it for what it is or just move on with your life, no need for the negativity.
100% agree
As a Tool fan i got to say , cool attempt! keep up the good work :)
Nice job
I don't see how people think the singer is terrible. She caught the mood in my opinion. On top of that, she can sing.
It's sad to see all those dislikes but I really feel that you could've done much better, not to discourage but to let you know that you are capable of, just need to put your feelings into it , just do it :)
playing the right notes (on the bass) would be a bonus too !
If it was recorded in a studio, we would enjoy more but very well done guys anyway, I did enjoy this, good job!
nice try.. TOOL is very hard to play and sing and to cover it you must understand it, by the singers expressions i know this song was not understood. try again with a vocalist that understand the words, ''dont get me wrong i think it was a great shot and im proud of the kids that put this together' but hearing 'i need to watch things die from a distance' in a whisper? need more power, its a very en powering song, it should be song as one aswell.
Really good job guys. Don't listen to the haters.
Yeah, check out the Aaron O'Keefe crew playing 46&2, it's awesome
HOWEVER, these kids right here also ROCK, they just lack the PRODUCTION of Aaron O'Keefe
you guys are beautiful!:)
Okay when bass is played on a tool song it needs to be either picked it slapped you can't use your fingers you don't get the dark tone which is the core to most tool songs this being one if them
Nice cover :D
The vocalist has the right idea of how she should sing to use her voice effectively for the song, but in some places its obvious that with the most minute morsel of coaching for this song particularly the vocalist could easily turn this from an aggresive, ominous song to an eerie one. Also the "why cant we just admit it?" was just, bad. That being said this is a fantastic cover and I encourage "Language of Eyes" to continue in your musical pursuits :)
Completely agreed with some comments I have seen... Vocalist seems to have lost the weight and darkness of the song, like she doesn't know what the song is about... She misses agressiveness, and it falls apart because of that
Holy fuck, people are super hard on this, even saying Maynard himself would hate it.
They did a great job, chill the fuck out!
Great job guys! You seem a little nervous though, I think much of the criticism would be silenced if you all had more confidence. Not easy to play or do, and much easier said than done. Rock on !
There are a few lines that sound like they could be delivered with an evil grin, but certainly not a genuine smile.
Put yourself in the shoes of the character enjoying the acts going on the tv now picture that of the singer male or female enjoy singing about it there the same side of coin. Just listen and be happy some one likes the same song as you. Good video guys ya killed it
you can't smile while singing a song like vicarious!
She's smiling because it helps reach the soft pallet a lot easier, therefore making the voice sound better/reach notes easier.
Love the F bass!
i love the bassit ... :)
It's all your own damn faults if you came to a cover and expected to see something identical to the original. Good playing guys, keep it up!
IVE GOT HALF A MIND TO BEAT EACH OF THEM WITH THE STEREOSCOPIC LENSES THAT CAME WITH 10,000 DAYS
Let's not forget these are kids covering this great song
if you still have the raw tracks for this i'd love to have a go at mixing it
This gets a like because you took a song and did a good cover of it in your own style. I have to agree that without the vocal aggression this song is lacking, but you get points for effort and quality. Good job!
The guitar is dead solid on. Sounds good kids
Well, this cover is pretty ok, I don't know why tehre are so many dislikes!
Those aaron okeefe students need to cover this song and show em how its done
Why so many dislikes. They're already 100x better than all those new screaming bands.
The music talent is definitely there. You guys killed it. You’re off about 1/2-1/4 beat...but who ever was sitting behind the board on this one needs to be punched in the nuts. (Not aimed at the band) You’re recording skills suck, you’re mixing is AWEFUL and all over the place.....you killed all their effort. Put the man behind the board on this one and this cover would be sick. Great Job Language of Eyes. Just do yourself a favor and fire whoever recorded this for you.
Se ganaron mi subscripcion canta muy bien la chica, y tocan muy bien. Sigan asi, Se ganaron un seguidor.
This world still have a future!!! \m/
I'll always admire attempts at good musicianship, so I won't be mean, but honestly, I think this could have used more practice on the part of drummer and vocalist particularly, and the singer really should understand what the song is about before she can sing it. Guitars seem solid enough for this standard, so good job, but generally, sorry to say I think this was running before being able to walk. 5/4, people, 5/4 :)
+Daniel Elford Wow...good constructive response....I went to Music school at Cal State LA (performing arts high school) probably would've heard a similar critique.----uhhhh, yeah....singer....um... :)
I agree the drummer seemed like he was way off time, and the singer couldn't figure the song out.
99% agree, singer didn't know song, cute though. The drummer, definitely no Danny Carey, nice attempt.
Yeah tbh honest guitar and bass were the only 2 that really held this song to the standard it was meant to be played. I'll be it Danny is really hard to reach on the drums especially to play flawlessly in different time signatures like he does, and Maynard is one of the most unique voices out there but this singer sounds like she doesn't know what the song is even about, or understanding how to match intensity. Oh and the keyboardist doing the bells always got that last note wrong but sounded fine otherwise.
great job drummer.
i think you guys are gr8t keep up the good work
my thoughts exactly
ot bad at least you tried not an easy song noticed you didn't stretch or force it you played in your style range and that can be difficult at times don't hear the negative your video was also creative a lot of work i am a die hard tool fan and I've heard all the covers on u tube 1 to 10 I give a 8
You are right on the money.
She nailed it
