This is the first video I've watched of yours and I love how it's a condensed stream, seeing you interact with chat is so wholesome
I know you going hard in the keeb world but would love for you to do a production breakdown of your streams and videos. Your color work is amazing and everything is so clean and professional.
Thank you! I will be doing something like that soon I hope!
Love the build, Alex! The QK65 looks and sounds absolutely fantastic.
this is probably the best video i've gotten on my recommended page. time to go on a 1 hour marathon of your vids lol.
For those who just got this board, please note some things. While it is recommended by the creators to use ALL the foams, I find that Keybored's combination of foams is the best for most. It's just not using the Silicone Dampener. The silicone REALLY mutes the noise. It honestly does more bad than good if I'm being honest.
Also, there's also the possible wonder if the tape mod should be used? I've tried it and based on my experience, do not. It really makes the board sound dead, like really dead. No melodic acoustics if that makes sense. While yes, it's louder but who wants to hear something that has no semblance of symphony even more than usual?
Just stick with what the kit gives you, except for the silicone dampener, cannot stress that enough. Other than that, please enjoy your board :)
Those Osume key caps on ur main board are so nice!! I’m definitely picking up tsukimi on the restock this month
great build!
Cant wait for this restock. Love the sound profile. Might get a sequance or babylon also. The freebird tkl and sonnet are very intriguing too. Dammit its great for the hobby but just to much I want atm. The qk65 is a must I feel.
Ktt mints too , love the switches so much
Just built out my QK65 and for my first custom keeb, I love it! Threw some Boba’s in with a POM plate and it sounds and feels better than I could’ve ever thought by just watching sound tests.
Also used your stab guide to tune my stabs!
That is awesome! Im so glad the guide could help too! It makes me so happy people like keyboards
Oh that's exactly what I was thinking of going for. Could you upload a sound test!?
I built out my QK65 Black Chroma with FR4 plate and all the foam with Tangerines and GMK Mecha 01 and it sounds/feels like heaven.
I have mine a QK65 Black Chroma too, Alu plate, all the foam, assembled modded TTC wild (L+F + 63.5g spring). Feel like heaven
damn that sounds satisfying
I 100% agree that this and the Ikki68 just offer so much value for their prices. Definitely my two most anticipated boards of the year!
The aurora? Or are they doing another round of the og ikki? I got the aurora and is def prob the best plastic budget imo. Way better than the kbd67 which not a huge fan of. Nk looks good but kinda outdated config.
Best entry def qk65 ikki68 and bakeneko60 imo and maybe sequence for a bit more or block67 on gb.
@@8bitsamurai6 yeah, the aurora! I missed the first GB, but my R2 just got delivered. So pumped to build it!
You absolutely nailed it. The QK, Ikki, and Bakeneko definitely rise above the rest in my eyes. Just a shame that 2 of the 3 are group buys instead of in stock options.
love this keyboard
hey, Alex nice build man I liked these cute switches
If i can get my hands on it all
Super cool
Is it possible to build a QK65 to have high pitch clack like your Moontower or Keycult examples?
I have an Ikki68 and the QK65 just seems like the better board, if it weren't for its common top-down look.
If I had the money, I'd jump on the QK65 instantly. I just hope that they release a QK87 for TKL lovers in the future so I can do a build for myself and my SO.
R2 or r1? I would argue r2 is rly good too
wouldn't a qk87 just be a owlabs mr suit?
@@Fun_Plum_ if they made one that's no frills, just good sound and good typing feel then yeah!
def in plan - covering all layout is the priority
@@qwertykeys2119 any estimates on the future layouts?
YESSIR been waiting on this forever! I live in China so I got that R2 black mirror varient. Can't wait for it to arrive. This video definitely ain't helping with the itch though LOL
Even if I had the money, I wouldn't know if I should get navy and mirror, e white and navy or e white and mirror.
They all look so good.
Even if there are better sounding and feeling boards for the price, aesthetics wise, there's not a single board that looks as good as this.
Its really good looking! I really like both those colour choices. I personally like the e white and mirror ;)
Could you tell me what keycap set is for the thumbnail, and what is that in the left corner you put in instead of a switch??
Hey, I want to build a QK65 but I still don't know wich switches would be nice with this board. Are the KTT roses a good option? Or should I buy the kirbs?
whats the desk mat ur using in this vid? its absolutely gorgeous
qk so nice
Hey. Where can i buy this Keycaps ? And this Switches you used that Factory Lubed ? Is one Shop in Germany they have this available ? THX. Good Video ! I have MX Black Switche.. Dont know how is the best constellation for this
What keycap set is that in the background?
where do i get those type 6 keycaps
i hope every manufacturer would use gasket socks instead, i just got an Aluminum top for my Ikki68, and i have to peel off all the adhesive gaskets from the original Polycarb top case to put it on the Aluminum top, it's such a pain in the ass. Anyways, nice video as always sir Alex
Is there a direct link to the keyboard that i can use please i cant find any links to this keyboard TYSM!!
Is the IEM you're wearing Monarch?
can i have the name of the red keycaps in this video thumbnail please
What kind of iem are you using?
That keyboard sound is amazing! Give me?😂
What is the metal keycap on the thumbnail?
Factory lube Korbs switches?
Alum plate lets gooo
anyone know the keycaps on his TKL? Thanks!
Jacket or socks which for deeper sound?
What are your thoughts on the Andromeda? Heard some people saying that it sounds pretty pe foamy. Can it stand without foam?
I havent tried without the mid foam but i love the sound signature of it over all honestly :)
Nice video!...Do you prefer this or Ikki68? Which sounds better for you?
ikki 68 has a better typing feel but qk65 is better at everything else. Sound is preferential but with the qk there are lots of foam and u can customize it way better
@@halashao9415 kinda sounds like foam regardless if u have it in or not tho
This one or Parallel Sequence?
What earphone u use?
Fyi I know where some ktt roses are instock if you still need em. Just order 60 myself and some strawberrys. I here they are a slightly better version but 4$ instead pf 2.70.
Maybe i should have gotten the aluminum plate :( it's easier to get an aftermarket pom plate
Hello, whats the keycap that he is using as his main board? It looks off white-ish and salmon pink-y color on the desk above it
It’s from Osume Keys. Sakura set.
Hey qk65 or zoom65
Where did you get that badge on the top right of the keeb in the thumbnail?
From QuarryKeys!
Trying to decide if I want to go all-in on a Sonnet or save a chunk of change and make the Qk65 my first custom keyboard. What do you think Alex?
I am going through the same problem.. splurge on my configuration of the sonnet or save money with the QK.
Owner of the QK65 here. Not regretting a single bit of it, awesome sounding keeb with or without foam. In the end it's all preference, if you like the Sonnet better. You can't go wrong with either.
I cannot decide. Just buy both.
Just my two cents. From my experience starting with budget options and then moving onto expensive options. I wish I would just went high end right from the jump. For me, the Budget options just lead me to high end purchases anyway lol.
@@Akeynote lol also this! If you know there's something more expensive that you like, but you can afford, might as well go for the more expensive option. You'll end up happier.
What are the keycaps in the thumbnail? Can someone please help me? The video didn't use them and I dosent say. Can someone please help me find what keycaps those all red ones are?
They are GMK Crimson Cadet!
Bro i need that mouspad can somone link me it
how is the qk65 not $350??
NGL f!$$ the click bait picture, you got me lol
If i had the extra money i would buy the qk65
did we forget to do second typing test with foams XD 12:18
He usually doesn't use foams in any of his builds so there wouldn't be a second test...
@@citrus845 i’m aware, but just for sound test
check time stamp
anyone trying this keebs without plate?
Can anyone please tell me what kind of IEMs those are? Thanks in advance!
Theiaudio Monarch!
Thank you so much for the reply! Keep up the incredible content!
The Keyboard included the pcb?
Or do i have to buy one?
included
Anyone know the specs of the board that alex is using? I'm particularly interested in those sick keycaps
Keycaps are Nicepbt Type 6. Switches are Korbs linear switches by Tiny,
@@64BBernard nah I meant the TKL, not the QK65 build specs
unfortunately I think those are from osume keycaps, and those were a groupbuy
@@citrus845 Osume Sakura keycaps
Fair enough thanks for the info :)
anyone know what the website is for this keybaord i want it
I have a group buy spot at ashkeebs I'm willing to give up. It has a black top, golden bottom, and a polycarb plate. It should hopefully arrive in November. It costs 260 CAD aka 200 USD.
13:05 why people ask like other keyboards doesn't have tax and shipping? lol. Like Frog is not a under $300 keyboard and everyone know that
I love that you called it an entry board instead of a "budget board" like a lot of people do. People don't understand the true meaning of budget nowadays smh
I mean, I use the term budget fairly often I guess in context to the hobby it does seem like a budget option but I can see where the confusion lies! Will be using entry more often.
I agree with you but I’m also starting to grow a little tired of the budget community being over represented in not only the conversation but in production quality. This was always a niche hobby based on the sole purpose of elevating your typing experience and the more we drive the meta towards “affordable” the more we deviate from that. The word budget is and always has been relative to whatever the subject is. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to call this budget at all considering the current market. Asking the community to change its established lexicon so less affluent enthusiasts aren’t offended is rather selfish and also pressures content creators to mislead new comers in regards to what they can expect to spend. Just sayin.
Budget is all relative. Maybe you don’t understand the true meaning of budget.
@@stryke1989 well, there's a greater market for budget boards than anything else, so it makes sense that there would be a greater focus on those. That's also why there are more budget boards being produced than high end ones- and I'd say that's true of every hobby there is.
I can't stand people calling affordable group buy only keyboards "entry level" when there's no way to purchase them currently. They're not entry level of they don't currently offer an entry into keyboards because you can't buy them
I think you're taking the entry in "entry-level" too literally.
entry level has to do with the quality and most importantly the price, more than availability imo. Either way, the QK65 is for sale for the next 2 weeks
is it me or is this video kinda muted?
Its a bit low I apologize!
@@alexotos i thought i was tripping since no one mentioned it lol
so creamy and marbly
60/65% boards are nothing but a bane on the custom hobby. Due to their bizarre popularity it's way more difficult than it should be to find high end parts for proper size boards.
Your sound is too low.... Up it a little, please.
Apologies! Will fix it for next video!
@@alexotos My apologies to you also. Sigh. I just read myself and that was so distastefully said. I meant "Could you up the sound in your next video, because even at full volume I couldn't really appreciate the soundtest with my headphones."
Even though it wasn't worthy of one, thank you for your reply. Really good video. This video and the "lubing stabs" one are in my favorites.
@@Dubistader Im glad I could make some videos that earn your favourites!
Sounds boring for me personally
Bro the pausing of the music is making me want to never watch a video again. It's quite Lofi, we can hear you and you aren't being overpowered please for the love of God either leave it playing or keep it off. The back and forth is so jarring.
How can I buy it? @alexios
