126wpm on an APPLE MAGIC KEYBOARD
Massive respect
Magic Keyboard is actually the easiest to type fast on, but it will eventually become uncomfortable.
I get 147wpm
@@fractera probably true, my Lenovo laptop keyboard has similarly little travel and I get 160 but I can feel myself slipping
The fastest typists in the world are on chicklet keyboards. Simply less travel.
Its really good for fast typing if you are used to it.
Shoutout to Andrew. He's been consistent and more engaged in *MKBHD* channel activities since he joined the team (including the Waveform podcast) I can't listen to the podcast without Marques or Andrew speaking. Shoutout to David too
nobody asked you anything
@@humphrey6630 It's UA-cam bro not a court. Chill
love David on the podcast!
who are you to give them shout out?
@@setspeed Who are you?
3 is impressive in a very different way 😂
🤣
The Keycult was such a MASSIVE flex, especially with how casually it was mentioned.
I don’t know if they understand how lucky they are to have that. People wait YEARS to get one. Like constant active waiting.
@@lovekb Can't tell for sure, but they looked like GMK Crimson Cadet
Whats so special about them?
@@gennaro they only make small batches, so it's as hard to get as a Chanel mini flap. and the build quality is top tier, arguably the best.
It even has Crimsin Cadet which is hard to find even in aftermarket because red GMK sets are immaculate
I love how everyone has a keyboard that's somewhere in the range of $100-200 and Andrew casually has a Keycult that can easily go for over a grand on the aftermarket
try 2 grand
I don't even know what a Keycult is 😂
@@Leanzazzy oh it's nothing it's only one of the most famous and sought after keyboards of all time. It's only one of the most beautifully machined and best sounding keyboards to this day. It's only a keyboard made by a company that's part of the endgame 3.
@@Leanzazzy if it still doesn't make sense to you imagine if you're having a racing competition with your friends and while they got subaru outbacks, toyota prius, and the occasional tesla model s or camaro one of your friends casually shows up with a bugatti chiron super sport.
@@obsidianquill7949 Why is it so expensive? You say it is beautifully machined and sounds nice but that doesn't seem to justify the price. Those seem like very subjective opinions.
Is there some objective benefit? Does it use custom switches? Is every keyboard unique (like a Rolls Royce, which is why they're so expensive)?
You likened it to a Bugatti Chiron, which definitely makes it much clearer but a Chiron is objectively way more powerful than the other cars. What actually makes this keyboard so much better?
this woulda been fun in a F1/mario kart type race. everyone at the same time, wpm rank, a few races and then rank by points!
sooo, basically typeracer?
@@graciouscompetentdwarfrabbit We actually originally were going to do typeracer, but the website is just so littered with ads and looks very unpleasing. Since basically all it's doing is counting your WPM we all like Monkeytype better!
@@Manganellia1 agreed!
@@Manganellia1 Totally agree, my only criticism (and very, very mild at that) would be that it seemed like you guys didn't use the same random word sequence (or specific text), so someone could've been blessed with a slightly easier text. But it wouldn't have really mattered until the last round, I think. Besides, this is just for fun, so it's not like I'm bothered, I just really like my dataset to be as clean as possible to not think about this 🙃
It’s nytro type
I can't type at 10% speed of these people even by looking.
I can type at any speed
But my accuracy will be 0%
Don't look, that's why you (supposedly, according to your comment, which is most likely sarcastic) can't type fast. Touch typing is essencial for fast typing, and something I sometimes still struggle with when it comes to typing any string of letters that contain (in any order) the 2 or more "rtyu" characters in sequence, but by simply touch typing I was able to get from 50 wpm to a consistent 88~92 wpm, with an eventual lucky run that gets me a feel of what it feels like to type in the low 110s wpm. If you intend to try monkeytype (the website they used) it's easier to get a higher score in the 15s mode, as that allows you to "pre-read" more words and therefore you have to think even less when you're typing.
Really? You can't even type at 14 wpm?
Do you even type bro?
@@graciouscompetentdwarfrabbit Yeah that's what I was thinking. You usually start off a lot faster than you finish. It'd be interesting to see them do 1 minute tests.
This video was SO good. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Shoutout to Mariah! Great editing, nice sound effects transitions and such, good way to add some subtle humour to a friendly competition but also adding a retro vibe to it. Guys please keep making Studio channel content; it’s becoming a favourite of mine for sure.
first time i see Andrew being fun rather than the silent one🔥
You usually see me behind the robot which means I'm usually like 5 hours into staring at a computer screen begging the damn thing to do what I want 😅
We need more videos like this. Congrats andrew
First time properly watching this channel, absolutely loved the vibe and the banter. Laughed so hard. Well done :)
love this type of content keep up the good work
Wow...nice Content. I really loved & enjoyed this. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see the othsr side of this channel. Y'all great guys n girl. Love the work atmosphere
Thank you for using that blue Schoeps CMIT Mini (or 5U) to capture all of those clicks. Absolutely gorgeous microphones.
There is no way you guys got a keycult sent over that casually. So jealous right now.
Brands send a lot of things to UA-camrs, the biggest the UA-camr is the more they send free stuff and more expensive they are, im not surprised to see people send expensive products to the highest tech channel on UA-cam
@@irun_mon Thats not the point. Dude clearly doesn’t realize there is a line that is virtually wrapping around the block to get their hands on one. Its like comparing a Camary, to a Civic, to a Outback and then casually arriving in a GT3 RS to the comparison test.
@@jacebeleren429 he's MKBHD, the largest tech UA-camr on the planet, ive seen smaller youtuber got expensive stuff sent to them just for a chance for them to review them, im not even surprised if tesla send him new car
@@irun_mon Well clearly you don’t know what a KC is in the custom keyboard community. The point is NOT that it got sent to them. It is that it is in the running next to keycrons and apple magic keyboards. They are on completely different planets and to bring one up as casually as a keycron is staggering to an enthusiast.
@@jacebeleren429 the original comment only mention about the keyboard company sent them a keyboard, literally nobody said about kc running next apple keyboard, did you replay to the wrong comment or you just can't read properly?
I normally stay around 100-107 quite frequently... my all time best is 121 but after being seriously into in for 2 years including 1 year of scribing job that I did. They have such blazing fast typists laying around their office!!! Massive respect to all of you...
Would have been interesting to see the side by side screens as they were typing.
Great competition! Definitely going to order Logitechs MX Mechanical, looks so cool.
Sending Luv and positive vibe to the whole MKBHD team from DC! You guys killed it as usual 🔥
Really fun video! Congrats Andrew!
i know it's not that serious but i need to know andrew and hayato's final WPM!
@Hayato @TheStudio,
Taking a typing class in middle school at TC has made writing and coding much more effortless. Rarely do I look down at my keyboard to see where I'm typing.
This was fun! I loved it. More of it please
This was such a fun video! Please upload more such videos.
Fantastic tutorial, keep up the great videos!
This was a fun video getting to see everybody. More like this 😊
Everyone is amazing in this Team. And damn everytime I see Studio videos, time just fly and when it comes to the end don't know. Love these Pals and there beautiful work.
I love the difference between the loud *clicks* and *clacks* of the mechanical keyboards against the gentle taps of the Apple Magic Keyboards.
why was I so invested in this lmao. congrats andrew!!
Definitely the most fun video ever posted on this channel!
This video was SO WELL DONE! I wasn't even going to watch the whole thing but got sucked in!
Brilliant video! Keep them coming. Congrats to my main man Andrew. Awesome and humble guy.
We need more stuff like this!
I dropped my coffee when Brandon started to type at seeding 😂 Cool confidence of Vinh too, hilarious haha
😄😄
I’m so glad some of them had lower WPM than me. Seeing those >140WPM scores done casually scares me. 😢
This was a fun one!😂🔥
nice challenge and love to see the team enjoying it
I love this peak into the work culture! MORE PLEASE!
This had more entertainment value than it had the right to. Well done!
I would have loved to see Andrew post-win testing/using the other keyboards and giving his opinion.
This. Even racing using the other boards. Andrew is probably 125+ WPM on any given board.
@@yakked I know this is 7 months late, but I actually usually get higher speeds on the magic keyboard, I just like the Keycult the most.
I probably use the widest variety of boards in the studio! I just find them enjoyable.
@@Manganellia1 I'm still reeling in shock at how you managed to get a keycult. Bro pulled up to a sword fight with a gatling gun. Pretty casually too.
andrew was wildin out at the end - great format!
I loved every bit of this lol
Imagine if Mariah didn’t choose to handicap herself. Magic keyboard is great for typing 2-3 words crazy fast but as soon as you get to sentences it falls off.
I disagree. I think Magic Keyboard is great, even at sentences, for specific types of people (me being one of them). I honestly think WPM is more about your actual typing skills than what keyboard you use. Vinh, Brandon, and David for example i don't think would have done any better than they did if they used a mechanical keyboard. They're just slow typers.
I don't agree with that at all. The Magic Keyboards are really good for typing fast (short travel, light actuation). Mechnical keyboards are way more difficult for speed. Also those guys that were looking down at their keyboards when typing were screwed no matter what keyboard they were using.
Skill is most of it. I'm a rather good typist, and the keyboard is really only +/- 5%. The apple keyboards tend to be good for short bursts, but my accuracy falls away quickly. My fastest typing speeds tend to be on mechanical linears. It also changes depending on how familiar you are with a board.
@@eruannster Interesting) Strange that the biggest scores made on mechanical keyboards)))
This video was hilarious and awesome!
I thought they were all incredibly fast typers, then I realized they’re doing 15 seconds, which totally inflate the numbers.
I mean between 15 and 30 seconds my wpm on monkeytype only varies by about 10. Not too much, given that it's double the time
We were going to do 30, but to keep the pace up we decided to go 15 till the finals.
@@noahpoobbailey First of all, 10wpm is a lot. Secondly, 30 seconds isn’t much different. 60 seconds was the standard for me in school.
@@YourLocalCafeu fast now?
that is still fast i average 45-50 wpm 60sec rounds and on 15sec my highest has been 58
Nice! Enjoyed the challenge
So I can type faster than Brandon, David, Ellis and Vinh? I see this as an absolute win 😆
This video is fun. Congrats Andrew. 🎉
that's alot of typing speed in one building
I love this challenge!
Very fun to watch!
I can totally keep my screen off and happily listen to this video any time
I recently had to do a typing test for an intern job and I managed to do 32 wpm, and I do not type regularly. At least now I can be assured that I wasn't that far off from some of the members of the Studio haha.
Yeah you're only about 8 WPM below average, even just the tiniest bit of practice and you'll improve beyond that in no time!
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!
i appreciate the guy who have lowest wpm but 100% accuracy
Tell me what it takes to be a part of MKBHD team. You guys are amaziingg!
you gotta be a fast typer loooool
If you can at least do 3wpm you have hope
@@joelchrono 🤣
That look a lot of fun and entertaining. I can’t believe how fast you guys can type.
Love videos like this
That Keycult No.2 is a one of a hell monster even the Price...
Its actually quite a nice observation to see that people whi invest on mechanical keyboards have a better wpms on average then people with normal keyboards. Yoi can legit see the enthusiast in them
bro best The Studio video by far
Awesome! I love this content!!!
That was very intense battle! Congrats to Andrew!
should've been 5 rounds between two finalists and the one winning 3 of them is true winner
The No. 2/65 with unfinished red my GODDD
Wait I haven't finished The WaveForm episode yet! You can't do that to me
Hell yeah! More races, more races, races!
I couldn't imagine using that Apple keyboard and getting anything above 30wpm but it goes to show that you can still achieve over 100wpm even so. For the record, I've been using a Logitech K400 for the better part of 4 years on my personal device now, but I think eventually my next move is a TKL mechanical keyboard with some tactile switches.
Edit: I got a used Keychron K8 and have been using that for about 2 months now. It's a decent entry path into mechs imo but because it's not the version with hot-swappable keycaps, I've found it lacking in terms of upgradability. I might find an alternative chassis once I get some more stacks, but for now it's a large improvement to what I had before.
i can type 100wpm on my ipad magic keyboard so idk what these people are doing
Macbook Air keyboard, 151wpm (30 seconds). I think it's mostly a matter of what you're used to.
Once you get used to the Apple board it's not that bad.
I do consistently get in the 100 to 110 wpm range on my magic keyboard. Any one will type horrifically slow/inefficiently on a different keyboard they aren't used to. I've always felt this is really about the typist and not the keyboard. At my office, i can switch back and forth between Magic Keyboard and various Mechanical Keyboards and keep the same typing level. But everyone who wraps their personality around which keyboard they use would disagree and i think that puts it in their head that they will inherently be worse on some keyboards. It's self fulfilling prophecy/confirmation bias IMO.
@@oohfancypants Yeah it really is dependent on what you're used to. I've never used a Magic Keyboard (nor have I even heard of it, actually), but it looks the most similar to what I'm used to using, with which I have a PB of 178 WPM on 15 seconds, but when I use a mechanical keyboard I get like 75 WPM XD
This channel is clearly evolving. This game video is the most successful 🤘
Ellis is the name, Typing is the game..
Best motto!! 😂😂
Mariah is cracked, 126 for a Magic Keyboard that's insane. I actually thought she would beat Andrew for a moment there. Should she make the Mechanical Keyboard switch I see a potential for a fastest overall.
Oh and btw, the edits of the vid were fantastic, loved the eagle sound while Tim was typing haha
Are mechanical keyboards really that much better? Because, although I've never used a Magic Keyboard, it seems by far the most similar to what I normally use (literally just my laptop, with the built-in flat-keyed membrane keyboard) and my 15 second PB is 178 WPM. But any time I even attempt to use a mechanical keyboard I type SO much worse, like 75 WPM, which is still quite a bit above average, but it's a snail's pace compared to what I do with flat, membrane keyboards.
Thogh the magic keyboard is chicklet design, it's actually a really good keyboard. It has pretty good feedback and very low profile keys, which actually might give you an improviement in speed compared to the majority of mechanical keyboards. Mechanical keyboards don't magically make the user a faster typist, the only benefit they really give is the superior tactile feeling and feedback. The mechanical keyboard trend has really warped people's minds of reason they got popular to begin with.
Congrats Andrew ,Nicely done All.Deb ✌️
Amazing video, thanks UA-cam alg!
So glad Andrew won with that Keycult, really showed the power of that keyboard
Top of the line in terms of production! Nobrainer that you are increasing UA-cam production standards similar to Apple in Smartphone market!
These videos are sooooo good!!!!!
Making Andrews proud all around the world. Excited for you pal!
I’m starting to like this channel more than the main one should I be worried?
Yes
Me too
Out of college worked at NWI ( NorthWestern Motion Picture, and Sound Recording Studio, Inc.) Portland, Oregon (ORY-GUN). Think Louie Louie recorded at NWI by both The Kingsmen, and Paul Revere and the Raiders.
Now to the point. Worked with a lady who while in high school was the Oregon State typing champion. Thing back in the days of actual typewriters she use to break IBM Selectric typewriters.
Thing is she could still type as fast, and maybe faster when she moved to the original IBM 5051 computer. Even as old as that technology was she could not out type it. Remember a modified IBM Selectric hooked to her computer for when she was going to print, and send out letters for the company.
Then we went big time with a Diablo 630 computer typewriter with metal daisy wheel, and paper feed trays. At 30 charters per second the only thing that could out type her.
This was so satisfying during the face offs
Great video!
You should do it again but with 100% accuracy!
Sheeeeeesh, Andrew, with the Keycult!? My man
I liked this a lot, well done Andrew 😎😎😎😎
Short but sweet. My type of content
I was so invested in this challenge
I like how Andrew is casually showing off the keycult worth liek 2k+ lol
Fun to see the competitive spirit of the employees
I very much appreciate the use of MonkeyType for the testing. By far and away the best solo tryping site. That being said, some people are under the misconception that mechanical keyboards are much better than laptop keyboards and things like the apple magic. I've been quite into typing the last couple years and a lot of the top typists say there isn't really too much difference in speed (it's more feel that changes) and some literally just use laptop keyboards and stuff
if you configure it for speed, it can be much faster. My gaming mechanical slows down my typing becaue it's so heavy
Respect to the real “Keyboard Warriors” ✊
David with the 3 killed me 🤣🤣
at 2:49, was that the Pixel Tablet on the table?
