In case you all wanted some more thoughts in a more thoughtful layout and not over a live stream, here is some thoughts in writing: www.alexotos.com/modes-new-sixtyfive/
wow, I was thinking that the gasket mount would be more muted than top mount, I am happily surprised! This board with PC top / copper bottom would look insane! I’m a big Sonnet fan, but am holding out on buying more boards for awhile. Maybe will eventually come back to this if they keep it in stock long-term
same for me...PC top, copper bottom is what I want. I also like the different plate materials - I'd love to try the copper plate! But I think my paycheck might disagree with me on both of those choices
I love my original Mode SixtyFive and I'm really happy others who are newer to the hobby have the opportunity to get their hands on an updated one. Lack of bottom case options is a bummer and no half plate is a big miss for me. Half plate made the OG a really special board.
@@itgmaster098 that definitely was the biggest downside. I think I paid around there too, but I think that configuring as close to what I got in the OG run with the new one, it’s only about $50 cheaper.
@@LtGeorge01 Yeah, I think they really narrowed the colors here which was a bummer. For me there isn't enough here to justify buying the R2 when the R1 is a better overall product (mainly bc of the half plate)
Folks... Do you think there will be a new mode sonnet as well? Im planning to hopefully get one late 2024 but since its a kinda old board im thinking that they might also make a v2 out of it 🤔
I'm both a little relieved and sad to see that side profile, as I just don't like that completely flat side. So I'm sitting this one out. Still think the Envoy looks much better. I wonder what they'll come up with next. Maybe a Sonnet refresh. :3
Hey! I was wondering how much you think the copper bottom affects the sound (and how so) of the board compared to the other metal options like what is used for black and silver mirror.
For sure hyped for this board. Was thinking about going Copper bottom, but phew thats pricey. So probably going PC bottom. Sad i missed the live stream
Do you have go to 60% recommendation for those of us who prefer a lower typing height? I personally have some RSI and appreciate when the board is lower profile but still sounds good
@@noshut sorry it was a joke as the Duck series has super high front height and angle, if you want low then maybe try a JJW moment or derivative as they are fairly low
i've been out of the keyboard loop for a while. is there a reason why mode is running the envoy and the sixtyfive? i thought they renamed all of their existing boards from numbers to having a proper name?
You should review the Xinmeng M67, its literally the cheapest quality 65% CNC Aluminum keyboard without a knob. Here in Philippines, it sells in $69 when converted to USD.
@xristinarose2409 Those are both going to look great. The bluegrey with the copper is going to look so fantastic I'm sure you will be pleased. Honestly there are so many great options that by picking one, it just feels like killing the others!
Hallo @Alexotos and chat/Comment section. What would you say I should get of these two boards. Currently im using a Keychron Q1 Pro which i have enjoyed a lot. But want to buy a bit more Premium board and was looking at either Wuque Studio: Zoom75 or KBD8X MMKIII. As i live in denmark Premium boards are harder to come by. Thanks in advance!
The elephant in the room is that Machina orbit65 with the same copper bottom costs at least $100 cheaper than this. Although I appreciate Mode for trying to keep everthing in stock, but the value issue really starts to hurt as there are more and more options on the market.
maybe it's the choice of switch but I feel Envoy with a long pole sounds better, milky yellow feels good when typing but is a bit muted these days imo.
First i thought I‘d need to buy. Then i thought nah, let‘s go cheaper for the next board, even after watching some videos. But now that you uploaded yours… man.. I hate that our taste is so similar. You made it sound so perfect. I love you for that, but my wallet doesn‘t.
I might be crazy, but I just bought the Envoy instead. Actually prefer the simpler design. New65 is cheaper than he Envoy with the discount right now. It's nice that this has so many options though
Made more complicated than it needed to be. One would think that part of copper bottom visible & accent piece would be enough to distance you from other designs. What % of the price did the bottom ring/badge account to? Looks like a lot of machining overhead for very little value. Bet just a badge would have made the board 40-60 bucks cheaper.
second comment: Would have loved to hear a comparison to the envoy and maybe even the sonnet because I already own two envoys. Maybe a youtube short? :)
If 60% is an option for you, you could look at the cloudnine. You can get that with brass or copper bottom and it's cheaper. In their IC they wrote that a buildstream will be coming before GB.
Good stream but you should be more prepared when building the board. The amount of ”i dont know, im not sure” was too frequent. And those referred to very basic surface level info that says on the website or config
Wow your taste in color combinations is consistently terrible across your videos. You know a lot about keyboards but nothing about color theory, hue, saturation, value, contrast, proportions etc.
It's a different aesthetic, mounting style and customizability. And in the stream I mentioned it comes with different things like support from the company etc. If you are just going off pure value, then yeah it makes sense. But different designs and styles and finishes speak to different people and there sometimes a cost that comes to that.

Kinda hot. Board is also neat
AYO?
Agreed
Just wanna get our beards tangled until we can’t tell who the ginger is
Can’t wait to get mine! Went PC top and mirrored sliver bottom. 🙌🏼
Love my mode65 v1, one of my most used boards.
Glad to see mode bringing a revised version to the table

paid 350-400 for the og run and looking back it was bit overpriced. :/
@@itgmaster098 that definitely was the biggest downside. I think I paid around there too, but I think that configuring as close to what I got in the OG run with the new one, it’s only about $50 cheaper.
What do U recon the worth of getting one? The poly / silver choices effectively made it double the price for me yikes.@@itgmaster098
the updates to R2 add little to overall performance imo. And the lack of maroon hurts me so I passed on R2
@@LtGeorge01 Yeah, I think they really narrowed the colors here which was a bummer. For me there isn't enough here to justify buying the R2 when the R1 is a better overall product (mainly bc of the half plate)
Im really liking this board, heavily considering getting it. I haven't shopped for switches in a while, what's your favorite newer linear switch?
Verni nice. The Switches are very nice. My space bar on the Liberi keyboard from Sw4gking sounds exactly like that.
As someone with a first generation SixtyFive, I'm so happy they brought out a second generation of this board!
rewatching this because my first watch made me actually buy one and I want to pay even more attention now.
I went black and copper bottom/accent to match my Envoy, and I’m so happy I did. This sounds insane.
Lowkey might be my new endgame keyboard
Do you use foam on your keyboards?
I'm waiting for mine. PC top and bottom with copper plate. It will be unique!

what is those pads you have underneath your keyboard?
Hey! I was wondering how much you think the copper bottom affects the sound (and how so) of the board compared to the other metal options like what is used for black and silver mirror.
It will give a bit fuller and deeper sound in my experience with the Sonnet.
@@nekomata13 Enough difference to command a $220 premium over the other bottom case options?
I’m waiting only your review.
Really appreciate this!
I didn't even make it to the end of the video... dream keyboard.
What ist the 60 keyboart on thr top?
For sure hyped for this board. Was thinking about going Copper bottom, but phew thats pricey. So probably going PC bottom. Sad i missed the live stream
Yeah the copper pricing is hefty! PC bottom looks SWEET.
copper bottom it so satisfyingly good on alu top, dream keyboard, but the price,
What is that orange cable? Want to buy one.
If you compare to other highend 65% with copper bottom like orbit 65, which one is your favorite? And would you recommend getting this over orbit65?
I would pick the orbit; price was cheaper and would pick the board even at the same price
Heya did you film these milky yellows? :D
This vs a Kohaku? Whats the 65% boss?
Is that a cork keyboard mat? Where can I buy that?
Do you have go to 60% recommendation for those of us who prefer a lower typing height? I personally have some RSI and appreciate when the board is lower profile but still sounds good
Duck viper v2 💀
@@HonestAccountant The board doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere? And I don't know what you mean by the skull unless that's some kind of inside joke.

It's so pretty

Actually sounds brighter/clackier than the Mode Envoy that you built for a client that you put Gateron Silvers in

the xinmeng a66 has a knob and it only costs $40 prebuilt on taobao

I lubed over the stock factory lube with a VERY small amount of 205g0!

the copper finish looks like it's made out of clay. Very nice

what is the desk he uses?
not sure what legs/frame he uses to hold the desk up but the top part is the EKBAKEN countertop in the concrete effect finish from ikea
copper all the way the wood seems meh
