THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING THIS PRODUCT....EVERYONE else just show how to apply it!!!THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
I am so happy I came across your video! I just started using my cricut and I’m new to all of this but you’ve made it so simple and easy! Thanks so much! New subscriber ❤️
Yaaay! I’m glad I was able to help (: let me know if you have any questions!
Your videos are insanely helpful.. wow! and you respond to your questions with such detail. Yup! I'm subscribing!
Thanks for the video, I love that you explained everything clear and straight to the point!!
Thank you for this, I just ordered mine ❤️
Hello and thanks for watching 😊 let me know if you have any questions about it once you start using it !
did you try it also on ceramic or glass? Will it peel off or does it need a base coat? Thanks :)
great video! can you use a heat gun to speed up the drying process?
Do you think this process would work on a square acrylic cup?
all you used was brite tone, no other sealer? I am so thankful for this video!! I have had brite tone for 6 months and have been scared to use it.
Yes brite tone is all I used on this cup (: even when I glitter cups, I seal the glitter with e6000 spray from Micheals & then just use brite tone to add that glossy finish. I have a video where I glitter and add brite tone to a cup if you would like to watch :) all I’ve ever purchased from crystalac is brite tone. Don’t be scared to use it , just go for it :) I’m sure you’ll do great & don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions :) thanks for watching!
Hi, love your cups. If you have streaks how do you fix that?
Hi! Thank you for your video! What do you mean it takes 30 days to fully cure? Can I use/sell right after coating?
I’m new to the whole cup world lol
Hello & thanks for watching. And no worries we were ALL once new to this lol.. Crystalac products take 30 days to fully cure meaning it will continue to harden within those 30 days. The cups are okay for light use after 5-7 days though :) Once I’m done with a cup I usually let it sit for a couple days before using or shipping it to its new owner. When shipping I like to wrap the cup in parchment paper and then bubble wrap before putting in a box that way it stays safe. I also add a note with cup care instructions. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask :)
I do have a question about this. I use Brite tone on Magellan tumblers and I've noticed that it scratches off super easy. Does the 30 day curing time prevent it from scratching off?
OMG I love your videos I was thinkin about personalizing cups and I love how you do it. It works with stickers I want to use stickers.
Hi!! I know this is random but is it possible to make the glitter Chanel cup in the back with crystalac as well? I guess I’m confused on the vinyl applying removing and reapplying process I assume! Thank you 🙂
Good morning ! Your video is super helpful ! Do we have to sand the Starbucks cup if we are no using glitter ?
this is great. i def dont want to use epoxy. will hot beverages make the britetone crack? or cold/cool drinks can only be used when using brite tone?
Thanks 😊 the cup on the video is a cold cup . I wouldn’t recommend using a hot drink in it. You could add hot drinks to stainless steels that have Brite tone though.
Thank you so much! Did you sand the cup before the first coat?
You’re welcome 😊 Yes I sand with a high grit sanding. More like a light scuffle in circular motion around the logo.
@@MelissaCrafter wow thank you! I was scared it would mess up the vinyl or ruin it lol
You should look at vinyl shield instead of this. You just cut the vinyl shield at a small offset of your design, apply it to the vinyl as if you were layering it, and then apply it to the cup. It's dishwasher proof and makes the process super fast.
Loved the video! Do you use any primer before the brite tone? Or anything after?
Thanks so much 😊 I don’t use a primer if I’m just adding a design. It is recommended to prep your cup by giving it a light sand with 400 grit sanding paper (around the logos) ... wash with soap and water.. add your design and start coating with brite tone
I just got my Brite Tone. question, did you just pour it straight form the quart into the bottle? No shaking or mixing of any sort? Just a straight pour? Thank ya :)
I followed your steps for the prepping however i realized since I wanted to seal vinyls with a clear acrylic cup , the sandpaper (400 grit) left alot of scratch marks. For your stitch cup did you have to sand it? If so really really lightly?
Yes really light . Brite tone magnifies scratches so the sanding has to be very light. More light a scuffle.
Hi! Love all your videos! Do you need to prep the cup with anything before applying the Brite Tone with single layer vinyl and multi layered vinyl?
Hello & thanks so much ! You can give your cup a light sand with 400 grit sanding paper. Around the logos if you want to keep those on. Wash with soap and water. Air dry and then apply your vinyl & start coating. Hope this helps (:
Thank you so much for replying! One more question, is that required for me to do that??? What happens if I don’t?
It’s not required. I’ve done some without sanding. The cups are fine. Its just recommended so that the brite tone has something to hold on to that has been scuffled a little.
Whats the drying rack. Could I also leave it on the cup turner just not turning ?
Thank You For Sharing this Video I Purchased 5 Cold Cups StarBucks cups They Are Not Brite Toned So I Am Going To Do It My Self I Greatly Appreciate The Video
Hello! Thank for sharing this it was straight to the point! I’m not sure if you mentioned this in the video but is there a huge difference between 2 coats and 4 coats?
Hello and thanks for watching (: so yeah , there is a big difference from 2 to 4 coats. The first couple of coats are not really noticeable, I mean there’s a gloss but not enough. With brite tone you build up the gloss . So the more coats, the more glossy your cup will be. Hope this helps (:
@@MelissaCrafter
Thanks for sharing your advice and experience. Question regarding the COATS. Above you mentioned the more coats you apply, the glossier the finish....however, my main concern is to simply SEAL the vinyl onto the cup. Do you think 2 coats would seal just as well?
Thanks for sharing this Melissa!
Hi, since it takes 30 days to fully cure, do you wait that long to give them to your customers?
After 5-7 days, the cups are okay for light use. After my last coat I hold the cup for 5-7 days and then ship it out. I first wrap the cup in parchment paper and then bubble wrap. I put it in a box and add proper care instructions that include a cure date.
I’m new at using the brite tone . I don’t think I did my cup prep correct . I have little bumps that show I that normal ?
usually when that happens..the coat you added was probably too thick. try adding thinner coats. By adding thinner coats... your cup will self level and you will have a smooth finish. Hope this helps (:
Hello! I started to use Crystalac after watching your video and I was wondering how soon after adding the last layer of crystalac and letting it dry for a full day do you give your clients their cup? I had a cup that the crystalac started to peel from the bottom rim.
Thank you so much for doing this video. Your videos are so helpful.
I wait as long as I can . Usually 5-7 days. I also add care instructions with a cure date on it .
@@MelissaCrafter hello Melissa can you please write care instructions? what do you mean when you say ''free for light use after 5-7 days''? thank you in advance :)
Hello . So brite tone has a 30 day cure time . The cup will continue to harden within the first 30 days. After 5-7 days ... the cup is okay for light use... of course following proper care instructions. Here are the care instructions..
TUMBLER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

@@MelissaCrafter Hello, can you still drink out of it or use it for an ice beverage while it’s still curing?
Would you know why the crystalac is not leveling on glass is wavy even after I used a small amount of it. Not over coating I'm on coat 4
Hi can you use this for gin glasses i vinyl them but really want to seal them without the glasses looking dull and streaky if not this method any other ideas
Hi! I came across your video after researching how to seal my vinyl on glass cups. Would this work for them? Also, you mentioned it takes 30 days to fully cure... would you recommend holding off on selling the completed product (cup) until after the 30 days? I would just like to make sure that they do not get damaged during shipping, etc. :) Thank you so much!
Yes, I have used brite tone on glass. Also the same company that makes brite tone, came out with another top coat called grand finale, that can also be used on glass. I have videos using both on glass cups :)
Hi Thank you for your video my question is how do you have to wait to cure?
You’re welcome! ☺️ the cup takes 30 days to fully cure but is ok for light use after 5-7 days. Following proper care instructions
Can I use this on ceramic mugs? And will that fit on the spin it?
Thanks so much for this video!!! If we don't sand the cups, will it cause issues with curing?
I also noticed I was having a hard time getting the Brite tone to cover the logo. It just kept spreading. Any advice?
You're welcome :) Sanding will scuff up your cup and give Brite Tone a good surface to adhere well too.. I'm always sure to sand since prepping the cup is the most important part of the cup making process.
When it comes to the logo....lots of people have a hard time getting the logo to cover. even me sometimes... what I do add Brite Tone to the logo first...then continue coating the rest of the cup. once im dont I go over the logo again with a bit more brite tone. sometime on the first coat it won't cover and I continue doing that until its covered.. hope this helps :)
Hi! Do I still need to seal the cup if I used permanent vinyl?
Did you sand prep this cup prior to adding vinyl? Do you have to sand after 3 layers when just applying vinyl?
Yes watch this video . I talk more about that here

So I used this on two type of cups let it dry. Then it starts to separate like a glue coming off is that normal?
Quick question, I use the acrylic cups from skinny tumbler. How would I coat those? Do i need to sand them?
For acrylic cups I don’t sand. I just automatically start with glittering or adding vinyl & brite tone .
After sealing the cup can I glue rhinestones on top or would they fall off
Hello.. Ive never tried it but I've read that some people have has success with sealing cups with Brite Tone and adding rhinestones on top. They use liquid fusion to add the rhinestones to the cup.
Can I use this method on a jar made out of resin after it dries?
So is Brite Tone FDA approved? I have some family that don’t like drinking from straws so it is ok to drink straight from the cup with Brite Tone on it?
The FDA does not regulate paint and coatings because they are not intended for human consumption. After doing my own research and even contacting the company.. I was told that brite tone is food safe. They also comply with all regulations and requirements of the EPA and OSHAA. As always though, do your own research & do what you feel is best for you and your family.
Do you do anything to prep the cup before applying the clear coat. And do you sand or do anything between coats
Yes I sand with a high grit sanding. More like a light scuffle in circular motion around the logo. In between coats I spot sand if I feel any bumps on the cup .
Hi.. loved your video! Questions.. do you sand you cups before pouring the brite tone? Also, how.many coats do u put?
Thanks so much! I do sand lightly. More like a scuffle with a high grit sanding paper. 400 or 600 grit. For a cup with just vinyl & no glitter it’s usually about 5-6 coats. Hope this helps (:
Hello ,I want to know is this temperature sensitive like resin ?
Hi, I added cricut adhesive foil and holographic vinyl to my starbucks tumbler and was wondering what's the best way to seal the vinyl? I'm afraid to use it because the vinyl doesn't seem to stick very well. Also, I wiped the tumbler with alcohol before applying the vinyl but did not sand it. I appreciate your help.
you can coat with just brite tone. a light sand is recommended... then adding coats until you’re satisfied with the gloss finish. always waiting 3-4 hours between coats (:
Hi, can you use brite tone to seal the clear Starbucks tumbler? Thank you
Hello hun! Loved your video thanks for making it!!! I’ve been looking into adding extra protection on my cups. Why don’t you use epoxy? Can you share your opinion
Hello and thanks for watching 😊 I used epoxy for a couple months before realizing it wasn’t for me. Even with protective gear, for me, it’s not worth the risk. Epoxy lets off many harmful fumes that are released throughout the whole process of making a cup. I have kids, so I wasn’t going to run the risk of having them inhale harmful fumes.
Great video! I wanted to ask do you use both the Brite tone clear gloss and the Polyurethane on your cups?
I use mostly brite tone. I would use the polyurethane when I had it just to use it since I had ordered it but I haven’t ordered anymore and use just brite tone 😊
4 hours in between each coat is looooooooong!!!!!!!
Hey! Thanks for the video! I purchased cricut holographic vinyl (neon riot sampler) and it doesn’t state if it’s removable or permanent. I added it on starbucks tumblers thinking it was permanent until it bits started to peel off overnight. I blow dryed the vinyl and it seemed to help adhere it better but I’m still scared it might peel off! Do you recommend sealing it? It won’t affect the holographic effect right? Thanks 🤗
Hello and thanks for watching (: yess some cricut holographic vinyls dont state if they permanent or not...I stopped buying those holographic for that same reason. I only buy them if they say permanent like the one I used on this video. I do recommend sealing it to ensure that it won’t continue to peel . Sealing won’t effect the holographic effect . Hope this helps :)
I love this video! I have recently tried using resin and it’s just so difficult. I want to seal clear acrylic keychains with an intricate font and they’re small. Would this work for it?
For this one did you prep the cup? Or no? Since you just added the vinyl on the cup
I didnt on this cup since I wasn't initially going to seal it...but when sealing you should definitely sand first. Sanding will scuff up your cup and give Brite Tone a good surface to adhere well too.. prepping the cup is the most important part of the cup making process.
Thanks for the video! Gonna purchase some Britr Tone. But thinking of buying the matte finish 🤔
Hello and thanks for watching. I also want to try the matte finish. I’ll be ordering some soon :)
Do you just use brite tone high solids top coat clear gloss or do you mix it with another product, I saw you listed another one in the description
Question, do you sand your cups prior or during the process? I want to try this but I’m scared to mess them up! You do beautiful work! 😍
Thanks so much ! 😊 I lightly sand these to prep them before starting on the cup. Then sand if I add glitter or to smooth anything out in between coats.
@@MelissaCrafter thank you for your response, most skip this step on the video but I heard it somewhere. You’re awesome!💕💕
It has to be dry under light away from any fans ?
Thank you for sharing.... I’m just looking to make projects for family and gifts for friends... l was so lost! Thanks! 💕💕💕💕
Hi I did a cup a month ago and I was told today that the britetone is cracking. Im new to making cups, I didn't sand down the cup and idk if the cup was even fully cured, but when would you say its good to use and wash?
Prepping the cup (sanding) is the most important step in making a cup. After 5-7 days the cup is okay for light use. Always making sure proper care instructions are followed. I can share care instructions if you need 😊
Is the Brite tone suppose to look alittle yellow? And also I notice when I apply second or third coat it tend to get bubbles and I try taking extra sealant off but for some reason it drys on me so I know why?
Yes it has a yellow tone to it. If bubbles appeared that’s because there wasn’t enough dry time in between coats
What do you mean by sanding and spraying? Is it necessary to sand and spray the cups? If so which sanding and sprayer products is it? If you don’t mind me asking
Brite tone can be used to coat furniture or instruments which you would use a spray gun to coat. I don’t use it for any of those things but I do sand cups that I’ve coated with brite tone to smooth them out so that less brite tone coats are required. Usually cups that I’ve added glitter to . For these cups I use 400 grit sanding paper that you can find at any hardware store. I have a video where I sand down a glittered tumbler if you would like to see the process of sanding . I hope this helps. Thanks for watching (:
Thank you for sharing this I have tried it and failed its the weeding of that LV that gets me every time where did you get the image it looks bigger so maybe not so difficult to weed. can't wait to see your other video's
You’re welcome 😊 I purchased it off Etsy. Try putting the cricut to cut on custom . Then select holographic vinyl and put the cut pressure to more. That usually helps with weeding for me.
Hello My question is with brite tone does it seal the vinyl on the cup so it's safe to wash the cup I'm trying to get into crafting and I wanna learn as much as I can please let me know thank you 🙏🏾
Have you ever just applied Brite Tone on like 1/2 of the cup? Or have you ever applied it over rhinestones? If yes, how does it look? Does it take the sparkle from the rhinestones away?
Hi!! i’ve been putting decals on starbucks acrylic tumblers and i am having an incredibly hard time finding something to properly seal them without clouding or brush strokes, i have tried epoxy and it is not my thing. would brite tone work?? thanks!
HI :) Yes it will definitely work. Brite Tone self levels and leaves a smooth glossy finish. I would recommend having a cup turner which helps with the self leveling. Hope this help :)
Is this safe to use on plastic tumblers? I’ve see people say that epoxy isn’t safe for plastic tumblers and I’ve been looking for alternative. So is this bright tone good safe?
Yes as long as it’s rigid plastic you are good to go with brite tone . I’ve used brite tone on tons of Starbucks cups and haven’t had any issues (:
from adding to the condiment container to cup do u have to shake it or it’s just ready to go
It’s ready to go. You can stir it a little before adding it to your condiment bottle if it’s been sitting for a while.. but it comes ready to use.
Do you seal the hot cups the same? Do you sand a little if so what grade sandpaper do you use?
Can this be done on the snow globe tumblers too?
Hello if you sand does it have to be a 400 grit dry or wet sanding paper? I know they have dry and wet ones so I’m not sure if it matters or it doesn’t matter? Thank you for these helpful videos!!
I have both dry and wet sanding paper. When prepping my cup I usually wet sand. I’ve never noticed a difference between the two. Except that the wet sanding paper last longer when using them wet. They both sand the same when dry sanding between coats .
When I sand the cup before applying anything just to make sure it doesn’t get any bubbles do I sand dry or wet.? I know you said dry sand between coats but before doing anything is it’s and drying or wet sanding? Because I just dry sanded a cup and it looked like scratches even after I soaped and water is that normal or am I doing something wrong?
Be sure to sand with a high grit sanding paper 400 or higher.. with a light hand. I usually like to do circular motions when sanding . You still will have some scratches but once you add the brite tone they won’t be noticeable.
So you don't have to use gloves with brite tone like u do with epoxy? And it's not sticky like it?
Its not sticky like epoxy. I wash my hands right after and it washes off quickly and easily.
Do you have to have a license to sell these? I'm not sure if people sell these with no worries of getting sued or if they have a license? Not sure if first sale doctrine applies to this but any advice would be appreciated!
I don’t sell them. I’m sure those who do sell them don’t have license to sell them. I don’t sell any of my cup. I simply make them for my videos. I would worry though for those who do sell them. They could definitely get sued . I don’t have much info on first sale doctrine since I’ve never thought of selling them. So sorry I don’t have more information on this .
Hello I had a quick question. I did about 3 coats of brite tone, my cup is covered in a lot of small bubbles everywhere. Can I sand it with the 400 grits even if it’s a lv logo or other big vinyl logos? Do I add another coating after sanding?
Hello ... yes this happens mostly when there isn’t enough dry time between coats . When this happens to my cups I sand with 400 grit paper with a light hand. After sanding, rinse your cup with just water to get the sanding dust off. I then blow dry my cup dry with my hair blow dryer lol then add a thin coat and it should even out. You can sand no matter what decal/design you have on your cup .
Melissa Crafter thank you so much !😊 I think I probably added to much because I let my cups sit for about 2 hours in turner than another 3 on dish rack. I will try this thank you for replying😊
so 30 days is when it’s really safe for a client to use ? without worrying about peeling or whatever
Yes. But They can use lightly after 5-7 days following proper care instructions 😊
Question...... I’m inpatient, can I dry it with a hairdryer instead of letting dry by itself?
No .. it will not dry properly & also will cause lint fly onto your cup .
Hello, I was hoping you could help me with a question I have. I have a sublimated tumbler that was faded around the top. I applied glitter in that area. Will I need to sand the entire cup to apply Brite tone over the glitter? I'm afraid that the sanding will ruin my sublimation image, as it's not a painted or glittered surface. Thanks
Hello. So ive never worked with sublimated tumblers. Sanding is recommended with any type of tumbler. It just gives brite tone a good surface to adhere to. You can try and just start coating it with brite tone. I would definitely wait the full 30 day cure time once it’s done to start using it. Or maybe you can sand with a high grit sanding paper. 600 grit. Just giving it a light scuffle. You can even maybe try sanding a small part of the cup first .. to see if it would scratch it too much or not . Hope this helps 😊
How long do you have to wait after applying the vinyl to apply the BT?
My brite tone keeps cracking and I'm able to peel it off. What am I doing wrong ?);
And you can drink from this glass….and it’s protects the vinyl?
Ive been meaning to find alternatives to epoxy since some of my hydroflasks have cracked after dropping it. Do you know if Brite Tone is more durable than epoxy in that sense, where it will be fine if you accidentally drop it, or will it crack as well?
Once fully cured it hardens more than epoxy. I’ve never actually dropped one but I have banged it hard on surfaces and nothing has happened. I did want to do a drop test on them . I’ll try to do it soon and definitely let you know (:
Can you use modpoge dishwasher safe over this so you can put in the dishwasher

@@MelissaCrafter how long does it take to cure? And what if you sell it to them before it’s cured?
Is it necessary to apply a top coat over permanent vinyl. I have read where it is not necessary
Its not necessary. if you use permanent vinyl it should be good. But sometimes... even if your using permanent vinyl.. you will get small pieces of your decal coming off. that's why when my decals have smaller pieces.. I like to seal them.
Can you use this also for color changing cups ? I’m guessing If is clear it will have the same results ?
Hey 😊 Do you do Brite tone on all Starbucks cup designs? And can it be used on mugs too? Where did you get the spinning cup thing ?
Hey, thanks for watching :) & yes I use brite tone to seal all designs on Starbucks cups even if the vinyl is permanent. It can definitely be used on mugs too! I bought both my cup spinners from Michaels . They are the spin it brand . I’ll go ahead and add the link for it on this videos description :)
Melissa Crafter thank you so much for replying to me! 🥰 Your video was very helpful!! I subscribed I can’t to see your new content, I just started doing vinyl cups and this is very helpful ✨
Where did you get your cup spinner from ?
I have a question! We have been using Britetone and we do about 3 or 4 coats of the Brite Tone. And it peels after awhile. What can I do to stop it from peeling?
hello.. so your cup should not be peeling... did you prep your cup before adding Brite Tone? Prep by sanding lightly with 400 grit sanding paper... wash and dry. Also try adding thin coats on plastic cups. ..Ive found thin coats work best :)
i recently switched over to brite tone and i cant seem to get a smooth finish, you can see the finger strokes or brush strokes when i use a brush .. any suggestions?
Maybe your coats are a bit too thick. Thinner coats are recommended and don’t over work your cup. Just add a thin coat and walk away. Even if you see its still streaky . It will self level. Streaks happen when too much product is add and some parts dry before others. Adding a coat should take you no more than a minute. That’s the time frame I give myself so that I don’t start over working my cup. Hope this helps (:
Do u have a Link in where I can purchase a cup from you...please
Hi! I love your Videos! I’m so glad I found your channel. I had a question? I noticed you always use your finger to apply the brite tone. Is it better that way than to use a brush or wearing a glove?
Hello & thanks for watching. I like applying it with my finger for a couple reasons . When applying with my finger, I can feel if the cup is completely covered in brite tone. I can ensure that I didn’t miss any spots. Next , when I first started , I was applying with a glove and I noticed it would apply streaky and I would always miss spots on my cups. It’s my preference to apply with my finger. Some people aren’t comfortable applying without a gloved finger. If you do use a glove I recommend using gloves that aren’t too big for you. The tighter the better.
Melissa Crafter oh thank you so much for replying! That makes a lot of sense 😊 I just ordered the brite tone I’m so excited to try!!
No problem :) I’m here to help! Let me know if you have any questions once you start .
have you ever used the brite tone on a double wall acrylic tumbler
I have. I don’t have a video on it but the process will be the same as a cold cup
quick question? im new to crystalac what can u use for bubbles? or do u get any?
If your getting bubbles chances are the coat is a bit too thick. Try thinning the coat and the bubbles, if any, will pop will spinning & self level.
Hi! I just started making these cups, is the brite tone necessary? Or would it be fine if I just stick the decals on there and leave it?
Hello & thanks for watching (: you can just leave it if you use permanent vinyl. This is used to add extra protection for the design and to add a glossy finish. Although vinyl is permanent, after daily use and washing, it eventually will peel off . That’s why if I create a design I really like , I seal it with brite tone. Hope this helps (:
Is the brite tone flamable?
Hi!! How do I keep bubbles from happening?
Hi,I made a starbucks cup with brite tone, but the brite tone fell off, what do you think i did wrong?
hello.. did you prep your cup before adding Brite Tone? Prep by sanding lightly with 400 grit sanding paper... wash and dry. Also try adding thin coats on Starbucks cups. ..Ive found thin coats work best :)
