to add to the radial menu mess tip, I just packed in all my elixirs, potions, scrolls, and poisons in their own bags. Then instead of individually adding them in to my radial menu, I would just add the bags themselves. That way I'd just open say my scrolls bag and then cast the scroll from the bag using the context menu (square button on PS5).
For a quality of life patch I would like Larian to add in categories to the radials like with what they have for the PC UI. Reactions, common actions, spells, abilities, etc. get their own expandable/collapsable hotbar. The radial menus do by default group actions already. But I would like to take it further. Like if I subclass as warlock+fighter, always group warlock spells in their own labeled radial and fighter maneuvers in their separate radial wheel. It's annoying abilities get jumbled together as soon as I get them.
Yeah, I did the same and it helped a lot. I just wanted that the radial didn't take everything I collect and put it automatically there and change positions of attacks and spells as well. Once I spent like an hour customizing the radials of my party and in a few minutes that game mixed the positions and messed everything again
@@guisouzadias the game has it on by default to add scrolls, consumables, skills, etc. But on PC you can turn it off in the interface menu. Don't know if PS5 version has the same menu
A tip for SteamDeck is to edit the controller layout to add F5 to one of the back buttons. This will allow you to quicksave middle conversation (where you would not be able to bring the right trigger menu up).
When switching to non lethal damage, keep in mind that only works with melee attacks! If you turn on non lethal damage and then let loose some arrows or a spell, you WILL still kill your target. I definitely didn't learn this by accidently killing an innocent NPC when I was trying to knock them out... Nope.... Definitely not.
Good call, I was wondering arrows still killed the two tieflings when I tried to release my fighter from her cage on the beach. Makes sense..... How do you not kill someone with an arrow.
Considering the core mechanics of this game, it’s shocking they were able to make it work so well with a controller. I don’t have a PC, but I do not feel like I have been hindered on my ps5
Why can't you just make a tips video (which is more or less aimed at beginners) without showing so much late content? Just take footage of the first hour or so. It will do the tips no harm, but won't spoil content either, which would be appreciated.
My wife and I have been co-oping through everything together. We absolutely love the story and game so far. There's two things, one is inventory, and two is the free looking camera for the right stick, and it is not a free camera movement sadly, frustration. Thumbs up.
There is a way to swap between overhead/isometric camera (where the stick moves the camera independently from you) and the over the shoulder/third person one (where the stick moves the selected character)..
Thanks for mentioning that we Ps5 players don’t have a toolbar! I’ve been going nuts watching tips videos that claim to be for Ps5 but they are actually playing on PC with a controller! This is infuriating and Ive wasted hours of my life desperately trying to figure out why I can’t find the damn toolbar. You are getting a sub from me.☺️
Thanks for the video! I am playing the game on PS5 as an absolute D&D and CRPG noob and it feels like absolutely nothing is explained. I even restarted the game once as I was convinced I had either skipped tutorials by accident or that they had somehow been deactivated. But it seems that wasn't the case. That's currently my biggest frustration with the game. I feel like I'm missing out on loads of features and opportunities in the game as I simply have no idea of most of the available, but seemingly hidden options I have :/.
Update: I deleted all save data from the system level and started another new game. Finally getting some pop-up tutorials in places where there definitely weren't any before. Though I wish they wouldn't disappear so quickly on their own.
@@Sebion1980 You can often find out more about something by pressing.. something (it's T on keyboard) and clicking on a highlighted word or phrase. That'll give you a pop-up with a description of what it is. Unfortunately I don't know how that works on a controller, but it must be in there somewhere.
I wish I could customize my radial menus, button has been greyed/darkened out for 30+ hours, never had the option to even press it. I’ve also been told the Steam Deck version is much higher quality and surprisingly smoother being streamed from your PC to Steam Deck than being installed directly to the Deck itself. Obviously that is dependent on your PC, wifi strength, etc., but might be worth considering if this may apply to you, worked for those i’ve spoken with.
Ohh you have to manually use the Thieves Tools from the context menu?! I was so confused as to why I'm not getting the prompt to lockpick on locked doors even though I have the right things... Thanks for the great tips! I didn't even know about the jump and offhand torch shortcuts.
Still can’t decide do I go PS5 or steam deck version. If I go PS5 I can play it remote on steam deck but I miss options to add things like quick save action set.
Can someone tell how to attack during mid cutscene in ps5? I played on pc and the option comes in bottom left corner to attack during cutscene to save some npc from dying. But this option is somehow missin in ps5 or on controllers.
Recommended version of steam deck? Don't know how many versions there are these days. Missed you Zoe. Been a riding gaming due to MH trying to get back into it.
the fact that this doesn’t even begin to help someone out in their initial approach to BG3 is a testament to how immense the game is i guess. I have 20+ hours played and the only useful thing here is inspecting enemies for free and also using square to open up actions like lock picking. A lot you just learn through playing or researching specific things in game.
Does anyone know how to put an item inside a pouch that is in your inventory? There no hold in hand feature like in DOS2. I can't figure it out in BG3.
Any suggestions for what to do if you utterly hate the game? before anyone asks why i bought it then i didnt think i would all i heard about was how epic this game was game of the year. and i love playing dnd irl. This has been the single worst gaming experience in my life.
I don't think it is Deck footage at 1080p, but it should run smoothly at native screen resolution. Ensure you're using a per-game performance profile & fiddle with the optimisations tools a bit.
Does mapping the trackpad(s) to mouse not work on the Steam Deck when the game is in controller mode? It's always nice when games let you use both types of input at once.
You could set at least the right pad to work as a mouse and set input detection to automatic so it switches between controller and mouse depending on if you touch the screen or hit a button(just using the track pad didn't work for me) but the triggers that would be left and right click register as controller buttons so you probably have to pick a keyboard/mouse control scheme. Idk if I chose controller or if it defaults to it.
@@gamehunter88 Hmm that doesn't sound quite as simple as it should. I normally (in other games) just map both trackpads to the mouse, turn on the trigger protection, & set the trackpad buttons to act as left & right mouse.
@nightcatarts it might be simpler then that, I prefer controller style so I haven't experimented much. I just know the game detected the triggers as xbox buttons for me rather than mouse buttons, but they function as mouse buttons on other mouse games or desktop mode.
@@gamehunter88 Yea it depends on how things are set up, & the default mouse mappings use the triggers for buttons. The sticking point is whether this game's controller mode disables mouse & keyboard entirely, which it could due to controllers having a whole different UI.
you can map mouse use on the trackpads. unfortunately, the game takes a second to switch between the controller UI and Keyboard&mouse UI if it detects input from either device. that second feels like a system hang on my steam deck especially in Act 3. Although that may be worth it if you want mouse use in combat and then controller UI for exploration.
Absolutely new to gaming I’m finding all a bit frustrating … who creates a game tutorial and then turns off all the lights? Using a steam deck … any assistance appreciated. Cheers :)

Hi, do you know a way to change back to a melee weapon after a ranged attack, without an action left, before ending turn
You just go to the respective attack icon and it switches your weapon back. Elixirs of speed also give you an extra action

Does anyone know how to ping on PS5?? Can’t find a definitive answer on google.
press R3 on ps5
The hold A thing, WHAT, forty hours on PC and 80 hours on PS5, I didnt know that was a thing.
Lots of buttons/keys have a contextual thing if you hold instead of press them
Did anyone figure out how to move items from main inventory to a bag, or bag to bag?
Maybe try to go to the bag open it then press either r1 or r2
Another vid for us console players pls
