If everyone has more favorites than can fit in one team, mandating that they all be used at some point rather than allowing anyone to just sweep the game with whatever uber-tier they like most would've made the most sense
I see what you mean but I think forcing that rule would either result in people wasting a lot of time on stream leveling up pokemon that would only be useful in one fight or just not leveling the weaker ones and letting them die, so pretty much just using the same strong pokemon anyways
if i used only my 6 favorite pokemon id only have one usable one

I did this in a couple challenge runs for B2 (I've done nearly every possible monotype on official hardware). Like Dragon I did not plan on using flygon. I TECHNICALLY can do Rock.... It'd be difficult cause I'd need to get Shuckle through Dream Radar but even then I'd only have... Shuckle, Onix, Gigalith, Crustle, and like... Corsola....
I personally don’t pick my favorites for their power. I just go based purely on their designs. I’ve done a run with every bear pokemon in the game and all of them have a weakness to fighting.
I actually can't get over jaidens top 10 consisting of aggron, blaziken, gastrodon, slither wing, mega rayquaza, actual rayquaza, giratina (origin), skeledirge, galarian zapdos, and JOLTIK

Honestly, having a Gen 3 race where the win condition is ‘Defeat Wallace’ and then playing Ruby/ Sapphire instead of Emerald is such a huge strat.

I feel the way to go about this challenge, rules wise, should have been to make everyone make a list of 30 of their favorites and then roll to see what will be their only six pokemon they use the whole game. That way you don't risk people just spamming with legendaries, and allows for people to come up with strategies mid-stream. I feel as though that would make a more authentic experience.
The thing is, it wasn't really a "challange" more then it's a "race", the goal was never mainly WHO can beat it, because of course they can beat it, they nostly know the game front to back by now, they still would have a lot of chances due to having a lot of pokemon, and the game isn't that hard to begin with, so i would't say it was really meant to be really "difficult" to begin with. Oc, a more dificult spice would be great too, but it's just a casual thing they made for content on live stream, so it's fine (atleast for me, idk)

What about a Nuzlock with only Pokemon you've never used before, I do this on most of my first playthroughs (minus the Nuzlock part), and it lets you appreciate or find the hidden potential of some Pokemon youd never use otherwise
I do that too. It makes the Nuzlocke way more interesting imo

Onix is basically Sean Bean in Kidd's Nuzlockes, and not gonna lie, I'm here for it. I love it. XD I think that it wouldn't be a bad idea to name him Bean in a future game as a nod to that xD

Ghost type, awesome cry, awesome Dex entries, looks awesome, smiles at you from behind, and I discovered it by trading with a friend to help his PokeDex when I didn’t know a Reaper Cloth was a trade-evolution item rather than a level-evolution item. I even have a tiny Dusknoir figure in my purse ;v; I was proud to see it was one of the major contenders in the Pokémon battle royal video

This is how I always play. I didn't even get into IV training or even really pay attention to them until Sword and I've been playing since Red and Blue.
I actually don't have many legendaries I'd consider my favourite pokemon... celebi ig but that's about it. so doing this would be kinda fun, if I had the motivation to figure out how to set it up, which I don't

I can’t help but feel like some people aren’t properly embracing the experiment. Some very suspiciously strong favourites from some of the players.
My top six without legendary includes: Metagross, Lucario, Alakazam, Tyranitar, Charizard and Glaceon. With legendary replace Alakazam for Mewtwo and Glaceon with mega Rayquaza

given that my team would be squirtle, torterra, giratina, regigigas, regirock, and piplup, i think that also presents problems. regirock iron defense body press rest just kind of erases anything physical, regigigas and giratina just kind of do their thing, torterra is there for a few fights and then the 2 lil guys just kind of sit there.
Kidd is the type of person to get a lottery ticket and get all of the correct numbers in reverse order.
Of course vulpixie was in the lead the whole time, if you have a Miraidon all you need to do is click an electric move for an hour and beat the game
Of course you can win with just your favourites, I do it all the time, it just happens to be a funny coincidence that all my favourites are also extremely good.
I think this but without legendaries would be interesting. It would make it so you can’t just rely on one mon.
This is what I do every time I play pokemon. But, I don't do nuzlockes.
While I technically never played this gen, I did play the remake and my team was:
Mawile (could mega evolve)
Manetric (could mega evolve)
Ninetales
Milotic (I don't care how good it is, I just like its design)
Breloom
Flygon.
Three of the best gen 3 pokemon, one of the best megas, then a couple silly lil doggos.

My 6 favorite pokemon is Breloom, Snorlax, Grovyle, Shaymin, Mr.Rime and Loudred. Would definetly be a fun run for Hoenn to use that squad if I knew how to set it up.
I once did that. My Spiky Ear Pichu destroyed a Gyarados, an Aerodactyl and a Charizard. My Froslass oh-ko'd a Garchomp 5 levels above it.
This would be *so* unfair if I were in this challenge. Like, legit, 16 out of my 20 favourite pokemon are legends, pseudos and mythicals 😂

When I competed in competitive when I was a teenager, I always used Silvally. I did competitive from the time
I was 13 until I was 19 and then I had to stop due to work and life so i played competitive basically all of gen 7 & 8. I ALWAYS had a Silvally on my team and it actually did decent. Karen and the VGC Pachirisu are to thank for this. So sick of seeing the same pokemon over and over again in VGC just because they are good in battle. I challenge everyone to use pokemon they actually like.
Hmm my faves I don’t think cover flying so it’s a lot of bike work but empolieon covers my surf needs(steel types are my faves and dugtrio would be ether the 6th member or get pushed to 7th)

Is it weird tgat i actually used my favorites when i first played Violet qnd won while underlevelled? I used Skeledirge, Azumarill/later replaced with shiny Golduck, Zoroark that swept the psychic gym, Charizard and Kilowattrel
I just beat ultra moon with one of my fav. Pokemon ninetales althou after winning the league i changed my team to cover my bases with a new team maybe ill try the defense title again with the two ninetales.
My top 3 ig are Archeops, Noivern, Ho-oh and after that idk who are 4-6 but options are: Jolteon, Floatzel, Sceptile, Koraidon, Articuno, Murkrow, Lugia, Floragato, Fezandipiti, Corviknight, Swellow, Suicune, Rayquaza and Espeon...I love flying types too much
