I was born too late to discover Earth, I was born too early to discover space, but I was born just in time to be here for more IronMon slandering. Keep up the good work, Kidd!
Again, I don’t know who made this but it’s so needlessly complex. “Bash your head into a brick wall until it breaks” is not my idea of a good game. Edit: yo, shout outs to editor for the amazing video. And Braden. I keep saying it. But you are getting so good at telling a story and hitting beats.
This run is legitimately distilled autism, and I'm glad Kidd has made videos mocking it after so many people have acted like it's the holy grail of pokemon. Glorified just chatting stream I think he called it last time, is very accurate.
What I love about Pokemon challenges is how you come to like certain Pokemon that you wouldn't have even dared to use in a normal playthrough. Dat dact 6 is the best!!!
As someone who has done many challenging nuzlocks before, I appreciate a challenge. A challenge that I can prepare for and prepare in advance to deal with it. What I don’t like is if a challenge that I’m about to face though is impossible for me to prepare for. The only time Im fine not being able ti fully prepare for something is if it’s a blind nuzlock or a randomized one, but even those require me to work to the best of my ability to counteract whatever comes my way. Kaizo Ironman takes everything I enjoy about a good challenge and is like, “SPIN! THAT! WHEEL!” It’s barely that hard, and the only “hard” part about it is that you need to keep reroling the RNG wheel until the God Of RNG decides to bestow their powers upon you. It’s utter stupidity that someone would say, “pokeon but everything is randomized, including abilities, wild encounter, trainer teams, move-sets, and tms, along with its a solo challenge with gauntlets, it’s the hardest challenge in Pokémon ever.”
I was thinking about this recently. This challenge is hard, as in you endure hardship and it takes a lot. But it's not difficult, it doesn't take skill.
I saw the title and thought "did he actually beat the Run & Bun nuzlocke?" Beating Kaizo Ironmon is still an achievement in it of itself since the randomness makes it too unpredictable for any good strategy to form. I'd still say Run & Bun is the hardest challenge, but thats only because the sheer randomness of Kaizo Ironmon makes an hypothetical possibility of winning on the very first attempt (but good luck doing that) while nuzlocking Run & Bun requires massive amounts of planning and forethought that can be instantly derailed by overconfidence, clicking the wrong move, random crits, innacurate calcs, or a combination of all of these and more. Nice job beating Kaizo Ironmon though
I will say, the most skilled imo is speedrun. A mix of high varience with top tier execution and game knowledge while making on the fly decisions. Now if you want the biggest challenge of patience that puts soul-like games to shame, you play pokemon like this.
Recycle is solid when you have a high level gap in mid-game, or when you have the right item to actually reuse. However, Kidd had no other items to grab, and even if he did, there likely wouldn't be a safe time to do so. One incorrect Recycle could have just led to him subsequently getting ohkoed and/or Perish Songed.
More damaging moves are good when your level gap is high enough. It allows you to full clear dungeons more consistently, especially when you don't have a Leppa Berry you can Recycle loop. ...is what I would say, if he didn't keep the damned move into the Elite Four. At least it helped against Flygon?
With this particular mon, you drop Swift for Dig almost immediately. Normal offers no super effective coverage, acc drops aren't as bad due to Compound Eyes, and Recycle has value for gyms/dungeons/E4. (One downside is Dig gives the risk of d bond ofc) Also, scoffing at Sludge doesn't make any sense, I know it was unlearn-able, but it's a 65 power physical move (pre-split) with a poison chance and grass coverage which he didn't have. But, you know, according to this guy the challenge takes zero skill. Despite these being things any skilled Pokemon player would recognize.
there is some skill in execution and adaptability, but that is also me giving the "challenge" far more credit than it deserves. You nailed most of the issues in the rant vid, but i am not so stubborn to insist a casual could beat a run without at least one higher tier of skill; damage calcs, good item use in battle, and risk management. That last one is the embodiment of the singular challenging element: when is a mon good enough to push the run past the first rival, how early should you cut your losses, and when do you get the most benefit from an item? All that said, it is JUST me trying to be as fair as possible. I still entirely agree about the central premise of the challenge, and the only ones i bother watching are for the stories that come out the other end and not the challenge itself. "hardest" isnt entirely inaccurate, but the gap between expectation (skill based) and reality (RNG fest only testing endurance through tedium) is where the inaccuracies come in. Anyone who markets it as "hardest" unironically (do they include the quotation marks?) is being disingenuous and click-bait-y. Ironmon is the most punishing of mistakes, but the number of times a success or failure is defined by mistakes is too low for that to be an accurate result of the sample size.
0:29 This is one of the few things that is not randomized. Stat point distribution is randomized, the base stat total remains the same. I'm sure you know this and it was just an error but I still would like to point it out.
Yeah, winning the lottery doesn't take skill. Kaizo Ironmon is not a challenge, and it never will be. It is a complete waste of time and I don't understand why it's so popular. It's like if you gave RNG to paint, and then you watched that paint dry, but at any moment the paint could randomly become wet again due to factors out of your control.
Kidd, I say this with all the kindness of my heart, your cadence, intonation, attitude and speech fluency is more engaging to me when you're ranting. Maybe it's unintentional, but you have the passion of a hater ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 I really enjoyed this two parter.
Trainer classes are randomized to mix up the amount of money you get throughout the run that being said it typically just makes the early game easier as a result
I really like that last line about finding a new favorite pokemon, I think one of the most underrated parts of ironmon (similar to nuzlockes) is that it forces you to use pokemon and moves you might never think about. my favorite move in gen 3 is signal beam so i always get excited when on of my mons has it. running ironmon didn't give me a new favorite but it gave me a new LEAST favorite in dunsparce (fuck dunsparce btw) after i lost my first ever good run to one and it gave me a huge appreciation for a ton of pokemon and moves that i never really thought about.
I'd say that kaizo ironmon is hard in the early game and the late game (anything post gym 5) because in the mid game you can get so many levels that the "a few levels higher difference" doesn't really matter
Bro made two videos on Ironmon and is still in the bottom .000001% of people who farm this challenge for content Absolutely based takes, keep up the heat, Captain Kidd my GOAT
it sucks that for ironmon the title doesnt even work because they made a super kaizo ruleset now it includes a forced pivot halfway through the game (at the safari zone) honestly just made to be bullshit, I'd rather bang my head against the wall with emerald rogue because at least there's some level of control you have (and the gyms have set teams, only the order is random which i am extremely thankful for)
How did you leave the SS anne while poisoned to heal up? It's a dungeon, you can't leave until you've defeated the captain, and after that you can't fight any trainers.
Me holding like all the TMS that aren't re obtainable in fear I'll need it on another pokemon (I don't need bubble beam going to the elite 4 I alr have surf)
Was Swift so important that you didn't want to drop Dig for *that*, or was there a rule preventing you from doing so about when Swift ran out of PP?, or was it just that it's got low PP
So you beat the classic ironmon kaizo I see... what about the improved ironmon kaizo with 5 generations and split special/physical moves? That one is really difficult
I'm wondering why you didnt use your lava cookie!! Was it your only status heal item and healing items are just more likely to be found,m thus making them the more expendable resource?
have you tried hades? can pokemon rom hacks learn from rogue likes? entirely random is not always what's fun, sometime procedural generation is better.
You're confusing dungeons with gyms. You're allowed to leave dungeons early, you just can't revisit them (not that you could revisit the S.S. Anne anyways LOL). Gyms are the only areas that force you to clear out every trainer before leaving. Don't blame you given there are so many rules
why not make a tournament in a random starter style everyone gets a random pokemon every round of a random typing and then after winning your opponent instead of choosing randomly you can tkae his pokemon if you want... ohh and a with each round being given a limited amoun of rare candies to either share with your pokemons or just spam on one dude and maybe a level cap..
Fire red Kaizo Ironmon is really easy, some of the later gen games are much harder, gen 5 onwards u have to deal with things like imposters and a lot less items, just wanna put that out there

It's only slander if it's false
You know the challenge is hard when the final boss is a montage of rock slides
Kaizo ironmon rival just like run and bun Flannery
Hey, sometimes you press Protect vs Flann. @@owenaspinall2046
you know what they say, when there's a rock slide there's a way

a lot of challenges do the same thing tho and they're more fun lmao
"What is the hardest Pokemon Challenge?"
I'd guess probably when he sees Alpharad wearing cat ears
boo~
nice
Excited to see how this run gets Recycle banned in future rulesets lmao. Also using music from Colosseum in this vid is a top tier choice.

it's kinda why i hate tryhard nuzlockes lol, it's funnier when you're stuck with like an ekans or whatever imo lmao
Defenitively the hardest challenge from the pokemon's perspectives
It literally requires less skill than achievements mentioned at the start of the video. Arguably not that much more luck too
As someone who has done many challenging nuzlocks before, I appreciate a challenge. A challenge that I can prepare for and prepare in advance to deal with it. i don't fully understand why we kept swift instead of recycle for dig but y'know what good work kidd i'm happy for you
I think it was for evasion boosting pokémon or pokémon that could lower dat dat 6 Accuracy.
Recycle is solid when you have a high level gap in mid-game, or when you have the right item to actually reuse.
