When Boise State beat Oklahoma last year, it really opened the door for lesser teams to start believing that they can beat the established powerhouses. However, do not think this win was a fluke. Appalachian State has a great football team. You do not win two I-AA championships by having no skills. They are well coached, have great speed, and obviously were better prepared for this game than Michigan was.
Shoot, how did the next 12 years work out. Other than being above average with Harbaugh nothing came good for them. Should have kept Lloyd at least until he wanted to retire, those last 3-5 years would've been better.
That is stupid logic. Carr retired and then did not leave a succession plan at all. He did everything to make sure the school didn’t hire Les Miles. Michigan football fell hard from the top. It took 16 years after this to get back
Geez Lloyd. What about App State. They played their hearts out. Give them some credit. I think App State should be in the top 20 of Division 1. Great team.
They also played stupid. App State was dumb to even let Michigan have another shot at a FG. Henne played like garbage, English called a horrific game, Michigan should have never lost with a group of seniors. Carr set the program back 15 years ago
Lloyd Carr should have been fired in 1999. He's a terrible coach that relies on recruiting. The only excuse for losing to App State (though they are awesome) is the poor coaching on the Michigan side. I've been a michigan fan all my life but I can't even pretend to care until this joker loses his job.
It was also the experience that the App St offensive players had over the Michigan defensive players as well. Michigan lost 9 of 11 starters from their 2006 squad before the 2007 season
I agree. His national title was really just an insanely talented group of guys that Moe recruited. After that we never really got close again. Carr did even more damage to the program by not supporting Les Miles. I don’t care if Miles is a scumbag, he wins 1-2 national titles here
Why call him a peice of shit or say hes making excuses. I think what he said was very true! He was man enough to admit the mistakes. He didnt say that oh they got lucky. COMMON GUYS! Im a Buckeye fan and this guy at least he admitted the mistakes and said APP STATE DID A GOOD JOB!
@@johnnyjustice9988even then, App State managed the clock horrifically at the end of the game. If UM hit the FG, we’d be talking about the decision to kick with 30 seconds left instead of running off clock
you guys have to get rid of him. UofM has high standards cause they have great tradition and they should be like uk in basketball and keep there finger near the ejection seat from now on any time a coach gets complacent in there program. Keep kicking them out.
no, no, no, you lost to a better team....can you just simply say it. You were dominated the whole game. This is so lame putting this guy on the hot seat. App St. knew how to and was prepared to win this game.
I would have fired him after this game. There is zero reason at this point that Michigan should be less talented than any team, much less an FCS team. Carr wrecked this program
I'm sooo tired of Michigan being overrated every year. Their conference only has 2-3 decent teams. Go ASU for making it clear to everyone. If Michigan played in the SEC, they'd be lucky to makr it to a bowl game.
Just a little tidbit, I can tell you that the ASU Football team wins NCAA GPA awards nearly every year. You know it is one thing to be upset about losing but it's another to talk about things that you don't have a clue about.
It is funny. I heard no excuses in this. He named the problems and said they did not EXECTUE! Which is exactly what happened. Who ever made this video is ignorant and a child.
I don't give a damn about the whole state of Michigan, whole state of Michigan, whole state of Michigan, I don't give a damn about the whole state of Michigan I'M FROM APP STATE!!!!!!
4 months and that's all you came up with, an old nonsensical tired out insult. Of course it also didn't in any way address my point. 3 straight titles, wow so how good are the Mountaineers every other year. Pretty damn shitty is the correct answer. You have 3 national titles total in a program that has been around since the 40s. Congrats? The Mountaineers averaged about a .450 winning percentage until 94 when they got good. You're the flavor of the week, enjoy it while it lasts, it wont be long.
michigan sucks haha how do you honestly lose to a division 2A school, i don't think the words "over-rated" says enough, and props to the UK wildcats for beating the shit out of eastern its gonna be a great year of college football.
"We got out played" All he needed to say instead of all that mumbo jumbo.

Jahjjj u guys lost against us 8 years in a town when this vid was posted bud
Fans wanted Lloyd Carr out badly after this one. Well you got that and how did the next 3 years turn out?

Excuses? Penalaties and missed oppurtunities are reasons for losing games.
Were going on to be 4 time champs, Appalachian state is not bad, they could be 90% of the division 1a schools.
App is a good team
That is true, but I know that after the game, every michigan fan and alumni was calling for his head
Because he was not a great coach. This senior class underperformed big time.

App State special teams beat them!

Wow I think I found one of the oldest videos on UA-cam lol
Chris Clarkson lol facts. Weird to think I was 6 when this happened😂
You too, was in college
This guys is as exciting as cold oatmeal! (yawn) Go Appy State...
u got to hand it to app state, they wanted it more and played together and there better than people might think.
Coach Carr should've said "maybe I ought to retire right now"
Should have retired in 2005 after going 7-5. That was absolutely embarrassing
maybe Michigan should go down to the sub bowl div?
It would be funny if in the future, APP st wants to play Michigan again, and Michigan says no.

i would have been crying if i was the coach
I feel for ya Lloyd.
Yes yes we do b/c of games like these
lol, he's practicly saying that it was the penalties that beat them.
Go Big Blue!!! Way to represent the Big Ten...
Go Gators!!!
Can you say >Un-employed?

i wudnt go too far as to saying 90%. maybe 55-60%
Nobody believes me but Lloyd Carr is not a great coach...you finally see why. The Psat few years he's screwed up big.
Wasted so much talent it’s infuriating. Tressel owned him.
He’s the John Cooper of Michigan. Constant underachievement despite great recruiting
It is funny. I heard no excuses in this. He named the problems and said they did not EXECTUE! Which is exactly what happened. Who ever made this video is ignorant and a child.
Umm, durk-a-durrr!!
He said Uh alot
*fact*
thats exactly what he did tigersfan
sorry michigan you are not going to the sugar bowl!!!!!!!
