I miss Lous lisp.
Ah yes Mark May. The biggest dickhead in College Football for years. I despised that dude's existence.
It's all relative.
Could upset Clemson tonight in 2024
Very last frame 6:03 . Is it just me or does that look like Brad K driver of the #6 RFK in NASCAR. He is from Michigan.
Hey do not schedule a two time defending champion,no matter how much you pay them to show up
Love how Holtz was the only one keeping it real and giving App State their props
Craziest thing about this is that WVU was ranked number 3 lmao
I still think this is the greatest upset in college football history. I'll never stop watching them upset Michigan and Texas A&M.
And App State would go on to win their 3rd straight FCS championship as well. And they would beat Texas A&M 15 years later... my, how far this program has come.
A great victory for App state
Mark May, even then, proved the fuck hole that he is and always will be. That guy should be selling pencils on the street.
I Miss Mark May and Lou Holtz

Coming off of a DARK Summer in the WWE.
My cousin Trey Elder was backup quarterback to Armanti Edwards that year and his brother Blake was on the team too. I was so happy for them I honestly had tears rolling down my face afterwards.
As proud as you must be to be related to players on that team, I’d like to know what position Blake Elder played on that team. I don’t think Blake would have also been a backup QB if Trey already had one of those spots
GOD BLess YOU ALL!!!!!!!
No no it was when Auburn ran a return of 100 yd at the last play of the game to beat Alabama. Check it out...around 2016 I think.
No, it was 2013.
I watched it live and it was awesome
All these comments and no one mentions the possibility that APP State was better, player for player than Michigan was.(and is) App St is geared to play a modern SEC ACC style game, while Michigan is geared to an outdated big white slow Big 10 approach. It was plain to see that UM was just no match for this type of game. (and still are not.) If it werent for careful non conference scheduling Big10 teams are known for, Michigan would have found this out a long time ago. The Toledos, the Eastern Michigans the Western Kentuckys will not prepare a team that has aspirations at the national level. The modern game is DOWN HERE in the South, not in the rust belt.
3:00.
That was the biggest choke of all time. It was great
A&M has entered the room
It’s pronounced app-uh-latch-un Mark May
15 years and nine days later, they do it again. This time, #6 Texas A&M on the road.
Not to mention College Gameday broadcast from App St the Saturday 1 week after that Texas A&M upset
FCS teams are actually very good in 2022 all those top 5 schools are definitely scared to play any top 5 in fcs!
Never gets old. Go Green 😀
They were pissed, Lou Holtz was the only one that kept it real lol. FCS is not a joke division and the only reason why the FBS versus FCS games be so lopsided is because FBS rarely schedule the good FCS schools because they don't want what happened on this day to happen. They often schedule lower-rated teams they know they're superior to, and definitely not trying to schedule a defending champion like Michigan did lol. The top schools in FCS are serious and it only shows that the only real difference between the two subdivisions is money.
Still the biggest upset in college football ever!
"Well, maybe scheduling those teams from the lower division may not be such a bad idea after all." North Dakota State would like to have a say about that.
There was a Saturday where there were two 31 point underdogs. Virginia Tech lost to Dominion and Army took mighty Oklahoma into overtime but lost.
Mark May still sux.
I turned on the new-fangled Big Ten network that afternoon just to see what it was about. I watched Michigan score right away and thought this game would be a rout. Then I saw Dexter Jackson convert a 6-yard pass into a 68-yard TD, saw that Michigan's safeties lacked the speed to stop the slants and Armani Edwards, and I settled in to watch. The rest of the first half was one-sided: Appl. State was a LOT better - faster on both sides of the ball. In the second half, Michigan finally took off the blinders, forgot who they were playing, and recovered. Still, Appl. State's speed led to the go-ahead drive. Only a miracle pitch-and-catch by Henne to Willingham gave Michigan a shot. Holtz was right about Appl. State - ignore who was wearing which uniform and just watch the game - was NOT an upset.
Now, Appalachian State football is on ESPN2.0 Listen to the ESPN commentator (not Lou Holtz) make excuses for UM!
Now, Appalachian State football is in ESPN. Listen to the ESPN announcer (not Lou Holtz) make excuses for Michigan!
Too bad, so sad! Michigan got beat by a better team! I'll bet OSU fans in Columbus and the rest of the Western Conference were happy about UM's defeat at the hands of Appalachian State!
Live outside of Boone. Northeast Tennessee and Western North Carolina went crazy. Appy Stare is such a great time and always has been.
It's really too bad they couldn't have taken even 5 seconds to congratulate App State. All they wanted to do was shame Michigan. App State finally has the respect they have always deserved now but, even when this happened, all anyone wanted to talk about was fucking Michigan's dumb asses. Lol
The Michigan football program still hasn’t recovered from that loss.
App State is a really program and this may always be their signature win. When I was little I put them into what I called my big 3 along with grand valley state in D2 and Mt Union in D3. These teams always seemed to be national champions again and again in the early part of the 2000s. I actually was a Michigan fan after at this time and feared something like this would happen because of Michigan's arrogance and they got a knuckle sandwich. 13 months later it happened again vs Toledo October 11 2008. It nearly happened a 3rd time vs army in 2019. Bottom line because of this nobody fears Michigan stadium or Michigan football anymore and the world especially teams roughly app states size have this group to thank for that.
“Everybody’s bitchin’…”
I went to school at Appalachian State in the early 90s. Jerry Moore was just starting to build the program when I got there in 1990. That program has nothing but go up ever since. From the team to the facilities it's definitely a top notch program and continuing to improve.
Appalachian State: Nothing like this will ever happen again. 12 years later… Georgia State: hold my beer…
@@brav3hearthalo189 True. Both are amazing. Appalachian State did beat 5th ranked Michigan in the big house. Georgia State football started in 2010 and they beat Tennessee, an SEC school, in their own stadium.
Amen brother
Old video but it doesn’t have like or dislike or comment that’s so weird
No it isn't the greatest upset ever.
I'm only curious, but what is? Stanford over USC in the same year?
@@joesakic91 Yes the Stanford game is way bigger. Not freakin App state.
@@brettfinlay7447 In terms of point spreads, Stanford over USC in 2007 has an argument. But USC still won the Pac-10. Michigan's national title hopes went up in smoke after their loss to Appalachian State.
@@joesakic91 Yeah only because of some little school from North Carolina won and took over our house.
APPALACHIA STATE WAS RUNNING AROUND MICHIGAN ALL DAY. ALSO FACTOR IN THE BIG TEN THAT YEAR WAS FULL OF BIG BACKS. APPALACHIA STATE SPREAD THEM OUT AND MICHIGAN NEVER MADE ADJUSTMENTS TILL 5 MINUTES IN THE 4TH QUARTER
A. S was a good team they took them to litely u have to bring ur A game every game
Came back to finish business...
App state was a good team so I dont blame Michigan for losing this one legit this app state team had some nfl talent.
3:02 he cursed in front of a all ages audience
