nice video, you can save a bit of money and buy table salt instead of the flake antifreeze, I salt the bed then add some dirt and pack then salt again, then another layer of dirt and pack again then salt then sift the final layer of dirt, with table salt its so fine that you can salt the finished layer lightly and it will not crust over at all.
Good set brotha with that ground wet like that 👊🏻. Bout to be dealing with that after the next 2 days. Deer Dog season just ended today and it supposed to rain 100% for us tomorrow night 🤬. Just a tip we use Pete Moss down on this end in Mississippi when it’s wet weather or rain seems to hold up good. BOL to ya 👊🏻
Gusto and HV are my go to but i just ordered some wind walker and grawes prairie fire cause that's a local guys go too. going to run them side by side in double sets to see which they like better. Do you have any videos of how you make your live cages?
Hi Isaac, hope everything’s going well. I have a question. I watched your video on setting traps in rain and freezing conditions. In the sets you placed, you used only the wet dirt to set one instead of using waxed dirt. Is that because you didn’t have any waxed dirt at the time? Here in Alabama, we don’t much in the way of freezing weather.(some but very little) However it sure knows how to rain! Previously, I looked at waxed dirt in videos as an anti-freeze product. But when I saw how water repellent it is, I knew that it was just what I need for here. Do you ever use it to repel rain even though it’s not going to freeze? Thanks & God bless
So at the time that video was made I had never used wax dirt before. With that being said, I’ll never set a trap again like the video you watched. Yes, it does work but wax dirt makes life much easier. As far as rain goes, the wax dirt is phenomenal at making the sets water proof. I would highly recommend using wax dirt in your part of the world even though there’s not much freezing down there. Wax dirt also makes it so much easier to do remakes. Say you catch a coyote and it’s an absolutely muddy mess. That’s no problem when you have wax dirt. It still beds the trap solid and will stay working no matter how much rain you get. Hope this helps!!
Great stuff! First year trapper here with a question: I’ve caught 8 coyotes so far this year. 6 females and 2 males. Is that an aberration due to low numbers or are females easier to catch?
@@CarolinaCoyote Yes sir if you ever make your way a little more North may want to try more camo straw or grass little less packing dirt A little bit of freezing rain even the levers will lock down Try dry dirt salt dry dirt salt Little bit of wax dirt some hay or grass to blend up here in PA been locked down a bunch😆 too much packing not enough salt whole bunch of rain and freezing temperatures ha ha got a try to keep the moisture out of it
@@CarolinaCoyote You are welcome Sir! Watchin your videos and others have really got me wanting to try trapping coyotes and bobcats vs calling them in, Ive been trying to find some MB550 offset but most places are sold out, have you ever done a video to show your whole setup? Im assuming you have to add swivels, chain and land anchors to all your? Also, I like you milk crate dog cages lol

Love the videos man keep up the hard work
Thanks! Will do!
Around my mom's it stays wet because it's down by the mountain and there's Creeks that run through the fields best to keep a bucket of dry dirt

Hey man I really enjoy your videos and have caught a few coyotes using your technique and was wondering what app you use to make your videos
Amen on the poly fill, and you have got me hooked on the Hiawatha valley and gusto. What do you use for antifreeze ?
Flake antifreeze!!
F & T
That’s right!
I always buy it in 1 gallon size so that I have plenty
Thanks I live in south west Georgia, we don’t get to much freezing weather but it does happen. Thanks for your help

Same here, trapping a couple years and catching way more females. Idk why either.
And I hate that red clay omg 😳 it's a headache but It ain't nothing some dry dirt can't fix
👍
Nice effort you’re not dealing with a real freezing conditions if so that Trap would lock from the jaws all the way around to the layer on top of it
We usually get down into the 20s in the winter months here. It’ll freeze pretty dang good at that temperature
