Very fun car, great memories.
The mid 90s Vantage has the same basic ZF as the Zed R 1. Track guys that dry sump their cars, locate the dry sump tank behind the wheel and move the ecu in the cabin as you did. Thank you for showing all the cars we don't get in the States.
Thanks for the comment! We didn't know about the dry sump trick on the C5 - Regarding the ECU it seems crazy they weren't in the cabin from the factory, with a bit of cable management they sit quite nicely in the passenger footwell :)

Indeed, only a couple of bhp in it though! Which tbh is probably within tolerance (fuel differences etc). A good result meaning that both cars are tracking similar and means both cars are running properly!

Wrong-O !! Isettas DO have a reverse. Done many , many miles in our kid's Isetta , on ale quests , as we did in his Messerschmitt, Nobel and Heinkel . Achtung! Spitfire ! I have pix of these unlikly contraptions , they were a blast. Of sorts. The I setta oftenhad a tenor sax on the parcel shelf, which we found great for startling peds. We made our own entertainment in them days.

Pretty close to that! Estimated 330 on Chris's which for somewhere not that close to sea level, isn't too bad really for a 25 year old car with 130,000 miles!

Ahoy, folk. I’ve fallen in love with the Tesla Model Y dual coat red. It looks sharp in any light but looks great in morning and evening twilight or overcast cold light. This red has a serious smolder! PPG automotive will know which it is. And Pantone will have a name & number for it. No one need know!
@@Auto_Funk yep one of 2 which is why I drive a Model Y. Rocky can stand up in the boot. I holidayed in UK for 2 weeks in ‘88. Was suspicious when looking at postcard racks that UK holidays were supposed to be modestly moist. Ours was the wettest in 50 years per weather boffins.
I know what you mean about black wheels; grey & smoked looks far better. I think a dark silver for Kev's body, & smoked silver for the wheels. Edit: Johnny Smith found a guy to repair a module on his cheapest Boxter, could that fix Kev's ride control issue?

They just look like black holes in the arches! I (Chris) do like a gunmetal though as it adds a bit of shape to a wheel sometimes with the shadows being more pronounced. Thankyou for the support :)!
Sorry if it wasn't clear enough in the video - If there is a fault with the "Real Time Damping" AKA electronic shocks the car limits itself to 80mph. The circuit board you can see in the video with the water damage controls the shocks. We tried to trick the car into thinking all was okay in order to bypass the limiter but we were under time pressure and couldn't do it unfortunately...!

Only hope that door sills & exposed areas havnt been burgundyized for your sake - definately a car worth saving !
Thanks Kevin! His original colour was definitely silver because we have the build sheet and it's still silver on the logbook (title)! Sadly the door shuts have been painted as well so it's going to be quite a bit of work to put right but we're looking forward to it!

However I (Llew) think part of what makes a perfect full English is the "less is more" aspect - Just enough so you feel nicely full but not too much... A by-product of the "minimalist" full English is the aesthetics, an over-laden plate looks a mess and is impossible to eat without scrabbling everything around... ! :)

Thought they would be more than that. My 2.3 Saabs are 317bhp 447nm. I seem to remember my 88 IROC-Z 5.7 TPi was 501 bhp but that was on Nitrous, but it wasnt really fast. The gearing is all wrong on american cars as it did 60mph at 1600rpm.
They still feel pretty brisk because they're a light car. They have a very flat torque curve so the bhp figure isn't really a representation of how they drive, the torque is instantly available all the time. I don't think too many people would get out of one and feel like it was under powered but I guess it depends what you've come from. If one wished to wake up an LS1 the cam is extremely mild on them from factory (for economy and smoothness etc probably). Even a mild cam upgrade/suitable map can add 80bhp on them. There are turbo/supercharger options too which can safely sit on a stock engine at 550-600bhp. Many modifications available! I personally love the tall gears, it suits the engine and you can do long distances with decent fuel economy. With it being a 6 speed you've got plenty of ratio options if you wish to keep the revs up but the engine doesn't really require it.
@@Auto_Funk My old Fiero GT was similar. Mine was upgraded a little to about 160bhp max. But given they weighed nothing and have a superb frontal area cross-section, it was pretty rapid. Same for my Renault GTA V6 Turbo. Only 200bhp, but lord did that thing move.
only 264WHP? how do Americans make engine that produce so little power from such big displacement...? A SEAT Cupra Leon 1.6L 4cyl makes 275hp as standard.
It's a good question - Remember these are not turbocharged engines, they are just a basic low stressed V8... Tuned for durability and decent power but it is very easy to get huge power out of them with forced induction, uprated cam etc. Even as standard they sound amazing and have a wall of torque!
thunderbolt an lightfoot they steal a boat tail so about 74 !! boat tails are very collectable !!oh yeah agree with you on the black wheels ! hate them with a passion look awful!!
Ah yes!! Haven't seen that film in years! The boat tail is totally wild - Can you imagine something like that ever being designed today? It would never happen! Glad you agree about the wheels... !
Lovely colour - Llewelyn had an electron blue C5 which looked great! We might draw influence from the C1 and pick a 50's colour (something like cascade green would be nice!). Totally agree about the wheels!!

A friend of mine (Chris) has a AM DB7 manual and a V550 manual... Both use the same Tremec T56 we believe as the C5. It even has a C5 gearknob!
I liked having the full English every now and again. Wouldn't mind stumblling upon it again someday.

That aly exhaustcl finisher looks factory and transforms the rear end. Didn't expect much power loss with mileage as they're big v8s

Mercury Capri. They were sold in the states at Mercury dealers. Not very well received across the pond.

Ha! Well you're right about the black pudding - That was missing! However I (Llew) think part of what makes a perfect full English is the "less is more" aspect - Just enough so you feel nicely full but not too much... A by-product of the "minimalist" full English is the aesthetics, an over-laden plate looks a mess and is impossible to eat without scrabbling everything around... ! :)

Thought they would be more than that. My 2.3 Saabs are 317bhp 447nm. I seem to remember my 88 IROC-Z 5.7 TPi was 501 bhp but that was on Nitrous, but it wasnt really fast. The gearing is all wrong on american cars as it did 60mph at 1600rpm.
They still feel pretty brisk because they're a light car. They have a very flat torque curve so the bhp figure isn't really a representation of how they drive, the torque is instantly available all the time. I don't think too many people would get out of one and feel like it was under powered but I guess it depends what you've come from.
If one wished to wake up an LS1 the cam is extremely mild on them from factory (for economy and smoothness etc probably). Even a mild cam upgrade/suitable map can add 80bhp on them. There are turbo/supercharger options too which can safely sit on a stock engine at 550-600bhp. Many modifications available!
I personally love the tall gears, it suits the engine and you can do long distances with decent fuel economy. With it being a 6 speed you've got plenty of ratio options if you wish to keep the revs up but the engine doesn't really require it.
@@Auto_Funk My old Fiero GT was similar. Mine was upgraded a little to about 160bhp max. But given they weighed nothing and have a superb frontal area cross-section, it was pretty rapid. Same for my Renault GTA V6 Turbo. Only 200bhp, but lord did that thing move.

only 264WHP? how do Americans make engine that produce so little power from such big displacement...? A SEAT Cupra Leon 1.6L 4cyl makes 275hp as standard.
It's a good question - Remember these are not turbocharged engines, they are just a basic low stressed V8... Tuned for durability and decent power but it is very easy to get huge power out of them with forced induction, uprated cam etc. Even as standard they sound amazing and have a wall of torque!

Lovely colour - Llewelyn had an electron blue C5 which looked great! We might draw influence from the C1 and pick a 50's colour (something like cascade green would be nice!). Totally agree about the wheels!!
