    One thing you fail to mention is that in order to completely remove the dashboard you have to disconnect and unscrew the passenger side airbag

      You're right! Mine was already detached from the first time I removed it. I hate airbags. 🚫 Remove at your own risk. 🚫 It detaches with 1 plug if I remember and is easy to remove. I left the airbag installed just unplugged it. This is not a recommendation because airbag light in dash will stay on indefinitely.

      There is a way to reset the air bag light without going to the dealer or using a code reader.
      Make sure all accessories are off.
      Put the key in the ignition and turn the key to the on run position(but do not start the truck) . As soon as you have the key in this position keep it there for 7 seconds then immediately turn the key back to the off position. Wait 3 seconds and repeat the process. It usually takes 3 to 5 times for it to work but you will know it worked when your trip meter resets and the light is out. NOTE: Your air bag must be plugged in in order to reset the system.

    I had to replace the temp blend actuator in a 2016 Frontier and dreaded doing it. Service manual said heater box needed to be removed. I watched this vid and was very helpful removing dash shell. Once that was removed I could access the actuator on top without removing dash brace or heater box. Saved a TON of time! Thanks for the Vid!

    Awesome video! Three important things to mention:
    Time: It took me about 3 hours (I didn’t do the steering column just dash)
    Airbag: passenger has to be disconnected. How do those special plugs work?
    Speakers: those plugs took me almost an hour to figure out. Yes, half as much as the entire dash removal.

I did a major deep clean on my vehicle. So glad I did! It's amazing how much dust, dirt from off roading and such gets in and under the plastic. Have you checked out Ry The Car Guy? I follow him, and his videos are really good. I still haven't taken the back dash out, I'll get to it. No lie the heater core is a lot of work. I recorded the work but my phone got messed up before I could upload the job onto UA-cam. It took me all day to replace the heater core, and then I broke the heater hose going into the firewall, and had to replace that too. It's plastic and very brittle. Be careful. You have to unhook the AC line going into the firewall so make sure you properly discharge the system before removing. I would recommend taking it in to a certified mechanic. Not an easy job. But good luck if you decide to do it. This video will only help with the dash removal part. Get yourself a Hanes manual if you decide to do it.

Disconnect the battery and let the AB drain overnight, after removal of the glove boxes look underneath and gently pop the retainer (there is a video on YT) with a very small blade and pull straight down. If you have the dual HVAC system like I do (2016 Frontier), the rear, right side blend door motor/actuator was the culprit. If you are mechanically inclined you can do this yourself, just take your time and take pics for reassembly. @NaritasanStudios  Рік тому

      I did record a video for that install but the memory card was corrupted and never uploaded. My apologies. It would have came in handy for a lot of people. But this dash removal is 80% of the work involved with replacing the heater core. Once you have the dash removed. Go ahead and remove the air bag, support frame (tubular cage), and it is on the passenger side. Some say you can do it without removing all of that but I say it would be a major pita and you'd be fighting with tight spaces. Once you get the support frame out go ahead and remove the heater hose on the firewall inside the engine bay. Be careful because the connection is weak due to poor design by Nissan. It's plastic and very hard not to break. I broke mine without knowing and it was 100 bucks to replace. Also remove the a/c connection on the firewall but you will need to evacuate the lines before removing otherwise you will evacuate it in your face and it won't be pretty. I highly recommend a professional to do this if you've never done it before. You can get over your head really quickly. I assume no responsibility for any failures. Once all lines are removed you can begin to remove the huge black plastic casing. Once you have it out of the dash area it is really easy to remove and replace. You will see Nissans heater core is junk. They should have never made the pipes two pieces. There's an inlet and and an outlet so that means for pipes, and they are coupled by a plastic clip. That clip is the failing point. The new aftermarket core is one piece and shouldn't fail again. That's really it in a nutshell and if that sounds like too much please take it to a mechanic that knows how to do this.

    • @NaritasanStudios
      @NaritasanStudios  2 роки тому +1

      The reason it fails is also on Nissan. Once you see the OEM heater core next to aftermarket you see the weak point. It's two piece inlet and outlet pipes are held together by plastic clips. Once they overheat they crack and leak coolant everywhere! The aftermarket core pipes are one piece all the way to the firewall. Once you replace the core with aftermarket I don't believe it will leak again so easily. We put another 100k miles on aftermarket heater core before we lost our truck. I believe it would have made it to 1000000 miles no doubt. Faulty design on Nissan to get you to bring it in and have it serviced. Or traded in and resold after $150 part replaced. They give you 1500 on trade in and resell for market value. Win win for Nissan.

    Just checked out your video again. The only lifetime warranty I want from the blower is Lifetime on part and labor. Autozone Lifetime warranty is a hit or miss. Lifetime doesn't mean its a quality part? What they actually do is Charge you 3xs the price and, you already paid for the warranty since you paid 3xs more for it, that doesn't necessarily mean its Quality, especially coming from AutoZone.
    How long does it take a job like this to remove and put back together? I am looking to do the AC Evaporator and Probably replace the heater core once I am there. blower I would inspect but no issue with it so far.

Right at the end of the video before your "movie magic reassembly" it appears that the intake motor can be accessed on top of the AC/Heater unit above the blower assembly that you replaced.
