As a console player, I appreciate you talking about how absurd it is that we can't have an FOV slider. They could at the very least give it to the PS5 and Xbox series X.
Seriously, Cold War runs so smooth on Series X with 120 FOV, even though the rest of the game is garbage. They need to add FOV to Warzone already.
Pretty sure it’ll drop with the Proper PS5/Series X version, since it’s still technically a backwards compatible game atm.

Literally yesterday I changed to affected and I feel so much more accurate at close range. Keep up the good content!
I switched from affected to independent because I felt like I didn´t get enough zoom from the scopes but yeah, it´s really harder at close range.... having a hard time deciding what´s more important
@@Gollas4k It doesn't effect snipers, so depending on how you like to play I'd keep the setting independent. I like to run iron sights on whatever automatic weapon and have a sniper rifle for long range. The independent setting zooms in the iron signs to a nice level and leaves the sniper scope alone. Kinda the best of both worlds

@Thomas Humphreys different engine. MW has better graphics than CW so rendering the righer res textures would put more strain on the system and lower the frame rate from 60fps.
Once you go past around 100FOV it does start to become preference I think. I find it hilariously disorienting and eye straining. Console needs FOV choice 100% though.
It depends mostly on your setup and how closely you sit to the screen. Super high fovs make a lot more sense if you have your nose in the screen as opposed to sitting on a couch
@@xzraiderzx308 exactly the opposite of what you said. Imagine looking through a window, the closer you get to the window, the more you can see and this is typically why console games have a lower fov.

@@ouroesa fov is pretty much personal preference, I cant play lower fov because it makes me sick and gives me eye strain. Same with a few friends, on the other side of the coin I know someone who plays at like 70 fov just fine because what you said. He cant stand the "fish eye" effect

Dude this is great! I'll have to give it a shot! I've struggled using pretty much any scopes with zoom because of the zoom in affect. This might solve my problem!
I've tried many times 120 fov, but i can't play with more than 110, i completely lose my accuracy above that.
I have found that 95 FOV with affected ads provides a good balance between long range vision and closer range awareness. Tried 100 FOV for a bit, but was making me lean towards independent zoom which I hated close quarters lol. Better vision or bigger monitor, the higher FOV you likely will feel comfortable with.

I think I can understand the science behind it, I spent a few seconds thinking about it: When you increase your FOV, while it is true that the game has to render more objects and such onto the screen, it doesn't actually render the pixels for better quality of said object leaving less load on the GPU overall. While its also harder to see running targets from a distance, you really should be using a sniper or have a teammate [duos, trios, squads] who is sniping to do the long range spotting anyway.

You kind of got it. It's called LOD (level of detail): in game models have varying levels of quality (think of it like picture compression) that switch depending on the distance from the players camera for optimization purposes. Higher quality models get used when you're close to them and lower quality when they're far away and so the models rendered on screen switch to a lower quality version with a higher fov because they become visually further away.

Im on a Series X and i agree consoles do need a FOV slider. With me having pretty good game awareness and certain settings i do give PC players a run for their money, but it shocks me because when you run a dead silence you get at the least or almost 90 FOV

It won't ever happen because then PC would lose one of their pussy advantages and they'll double down on crying about the barely functional aim assist
PC has those advantages as it is because they cried enough.
I've been playing with 120 affected since I started but I think I'm going to start using independent. It's just really hard to trace people sometimes past 20m with irons/reddot at 1440p for me. Even using a 3x feels bad when shooting people past 50m. Just be aware if you're going to start switching aim styles that independent sensitivity is way slower than affected so you'll have to tinker with your settings.
According to tests, the max FPS boost the FOV can give is around 90-100. Above you actually don't have significant gains.
You know what this is the first video I have seen to suggest using Independent situationally with sniper and sniper support. I switched to 120 Affected a while ago and to be honest really struggled with how small targets are. I have gone back to using Independent but agree when it's SMG/Sniper then Affected is beneficial.
Was at 110 but always been tempted try 120, so I’m going to go for it and see how it goes. I play on KB&M and close range fights are what I’d like to improve at the most, hopefully the increased FoV helps with awareness

on nvidia filters do brightness/contrast, put everything on 0 but have shadows on -100%
On a lower end system like mine, maxing your fov definitely does impact performance negatively. Perhaps this is not the case on higher-end systems though. I'm still on a 970 GTX
The thing that doesn't make sense to me, is that the consoles can clearly handle a higher fob, because when you use dead silence it bumps the fov higher while it's active

They updated it with the last patch to give consoles the same fov slider. Everyone should be able to set it between 60-120 now

@@sequentialdays On Xbox it says you can turn it off but when you try to load into a game it prompts you to turn it back on or it won't load a match.
Started pc 2 years ago and I’ve been using 105 fov, it felt like higher than that I couldn’t see anything (as in everything looked too far away), but I didn’t know about the affected and independent options, so imma give it a try!
How did it go?
@@mohithrajamani637 FPS where averaging 90 to 100 before, now it seems to average 100 to 110. Didn't have much trouble spotting people overall, and visible recoil also decreased noticeably (if before was minimal, now is non-existant). Can't really tell you that now I can see people that I couldn't before cause I can't really tell the exact difference lol, but I did get a second place in solos and a 40 kill game in plunder (my average is between 20 and 30 kills, but it might have been a coincidence). One other thing is that I felt SO fast, it felt like my movement got a lot better all the sudden.

Stodeh, you are explaining it like you can choose either Affected or Independant per gun. This is not the case.. As I’m not a sniper, I run either a dual AR combo (C58/XM4 as an SMG) or AR/SMG and I have to go for Affected for all close range, but this does suck with the AR for long range..
120fov at 1080p looks extremely blurry and hard to spot targets. I use 110, found its the sweet spot. At 1440p id probably use 120fov, the textures looks so crisp and sharp.
This is just one reason why most console players would vote for an option to only crossplay against other console players and exclude PC all together

I think it's simple. Game devs and consoles need to give the players the same options as PC if they are doing cross platform. Fov, m&k, filters, the whole deal. Other option, restrict PC players to console settings when cross platform play is engaged. Other other option, don't cross platform with PC...... Unfortunately the last one really isn't an option due to where gaming is headed.

Having no FOV on consoles has something to do with how far you are sitting away from the screen. More serious console gamers are siting right in front of the screen, like a PC gamer, so they would definitely benefit when they could change the FOV

The consoles can either run at 60 or 120hz. So fov performance boost wouldn’t matter since they have stable FPS.
Helps to play in a potato lobby where not one out of four people on the roof that you kill even send a shot at you.

Common mistake in regards to FOV... lots of people assume the more FOV drops FPS. It doesn't! It improves it... this is down to the fact that with a higher FOV, your having to render in buildings and trees etc at a lesser amount of times... if a building stays in focus when you turn, rather than goes off screen, the back on again, you have less of a performance hit.. hense the gain in FPS.
They really need to just allow Xbox users to turn off crossplay.
We wouldn’t have to worry about the cheats and FOV advantages and it would just be an overall much better experience.

I've never really understood why FOV in games is often extremely low by default. I feel like it should start with high FOV by default, as the situational awareness benefits alone are a near necessity in most FPS games. I feel like better long range clarity and thicker close range targets are far less constantly desirable, especially in the case of the latter where high movement speeds can make it extremely hard to keep them on your screen, thick or not.

Having 80FOV on Console is soul destroying, enemies sliding and bunny hopping up close you ain't got a chance. Having to run High Alert and Tracker perks for the lack of peripheral vision is not good enough. Get it sorted Activision and level the playing field for everyone, on next gen consoles this is not acceptable.
Also I got the PS5 and I’m still playing the PS4 edition.. Supposedly there’s an update coming.. I love the 120 FPS but I NEED that FOV slider

FOV is a ridiculous free hack that cannot be countered in any way by us lowly console players. I SO wish they'd let us turn off crossplay so I could just go up against other PS / Xbox players, which would fix the cheaters + PC vs console differences which are significant.

Cold War has an FOV slider for consoles and there again lies the issue of the ridicilous aim-assist. The absolute lack of effort required to dominate with a controller is just boring and literally removes any fun. To the people on controller, the effort required for me with a mouse, to track you and actually manage to kill you is not comparable with you on a controller. If you suck on a mouse, there is no invisible hand to move your aim.

I have 2 MSI curved monitors and they are pretty good, they are not to this spec, but MSI usually are quite good. Console doesn’t have a FOV slider on warzone, but does on CW. I’m on a series x now, but remembering how bad the rendering on Xbox one, I assume that has something to do with it.
I playing with some friends they are on PC im on PS4 when i told them to put their FOV like on console they just couldt managed to keep the recroil on their weapon :D
Consoles don't have NVIDIA graphics cards. Performance might not be same on high fov there. Depends where the limit is.
