This channel is all about snipers, sniping and FPS shooters! I mainly do Battlefield Sniping but I also play Call of Duty, Battlefront and I love Battle Royale. I often play solos, duos and squads on my livestream. I have 1000 hours experience in every Battlefield and I hope to play more FPS games in 2020. To summarise:
HIGH FOV: Less visual recoil, gives better peripheral vision BUT harder to see at long range
LOW FOV: More visual recoil, but easier to spot targets at range (great for snipers as recoil is irrelevant)
My FOV: 112
ADS Affected: Less visual recoil
ADS Independent: Better "Zoom" on iron sights, ONLY use on low recoil guns (Grau, MP7, M13)
Keep in mind that INDEPENDENT ADS FOV will only have a significant zoom difference at higher FOV levels (100+FOV).
Also we don't know if cold war automatically adjusts CONTROLLER sensitivity based on FOV.
Need more info on that front.
what if I put my monitor distance coefficient to 1.78 ? that didn't seem to change the mouse sens with different fov values...(not sure just want to know)

I think affected changes your sensitivity when zoomed in so a coefficient might be required.

I love it when some one says its on pc and console but you load ya sony up and cant fild of veiw aka fov
independent is good for further distances, but for closed quarters it's better to have affected. The best option is still to have an AR with vlk and smg for close range with affected.
i knew about fov changing recoil and target acquisition, I usually play with 100 fov just for an inbetween and to keep the sensitivity and fov similar to other fps games I play. However I never knew about the independent ads fov and that should help me as I have shit eyesight and didn't like the fact I would miss at extreme ranges when the recoil would be harder to tame. Thanks for the tip.

High FOV is why underrated people like ExoGhost get accused of no recoil. I play on about 115 FOV and I can tell why some people would think I'm hacking if I were to ever make a MW vid. Those people making those accusations are console players who don't get an FOV slider as far as I understsnd

@@derdunzen I don't play cod, but in other fps as squad for example I use lowest fov possible (I think 90 in that case), to make use of the extra ratio in horizontal direction
I have ultrawide so 99.99 FOV is fine for me and for ADS it's independent.

Ever since I switched to higher fov, gun fights felt so much better. Especially when switching targets rapidly, sniping felt better etc. It maybe just me but I'm glad I increased my fov and sens. on cod, it really made a big difference.
Honestly I knew about FOV and ADS pretty well but when you factor in enemy sound, echo, raytracing, recoil of guns, teammates in the way(low FOV) etc,
it goes to show that these fast paced first person gamers have trained their brains to work this way and then it just comes naturally like any other skill.
Thanks for the video, will wait till next Christmas for a PS5 and then experiment with this stuff.

@Keenan Johnson It is not as much of an advantage as you might think. Close quarters, definitely an advantage. Beyond that I think most players on console will find anything over 100 harder to use.
@@bengigot1645 i dunno if console or not makes any difference, being someone who played a nearly equal amount of time on console and pc on bf titles and never from the couch i always found 80-100 fov being the best, any lower and it's disorienting, any higher and i have a hard time seeing stuff(though i imagine if i had a 120+hz monitor i might not have this problem)
@@iota-09 I only reference console specifically because many have never used an FOV slider, especially if COD is their only fps. It has also been shown that any significant increase to FOV in Cold War on the old consoles will definitely cause frames to drop. Hopefully this is improved by launch and I imagine the new consoles will handle it much better.

For CSGO players that might want to get the same FOV as in CSGO.
- 4:3 = 90 FOV
- 16:9 = 107 FOV
- 16:10 = 100 FOV
- 21:9 = 120 FOV
Wow I already used 107 in Warzone as I find it a nice middle ground, and I use the same in Tarkov.
I play 16:9 in CS and I've gotta say, that's a weird coincidence.
For 16:9 it's actually closer to 106 degrees. Set 106.260205 degrees in config if you want to be as precise as you can.
For sensitivity conversion, multiply CS:GO's sensitivity by 3.333333.
If you want sensitivity to scale across zoom levels like it does in CS:GO, use Monitor Distance Coefficient 1.33. Although if you want it to scale sensitivity across zoom levels like it did in pretty much every CoD, and many other games, use Monitor Distance Coefficient 0 (this is what Mouse ADS Sensitivity "Legacy" is supposed to do, but it's actually bugged).

Also Stodeh you mentioned a performance impact because you're pc has to render more at a higher FOV. There's been testing of this and generally a higher FOV actually yielded higher frame rates because even though you are rendering more on screen, it's not being rendered to the same level of detail because it is zoomed out more.

@@raidenxt8737 difference is consoles have been optimised to the default fov. Think it's like 80 or somewhere around that. Although on PC it may not have as much as a negative impact as it seems it would on paper consoles would definitely struggle especially this generation. Have a watch of Faze Jevs video of the black ops cold war beta he plays on a PS4 pro after playing on a PC for a full year and has to lower his fov even lower than default just to get playable frame rates

hey stodeh, kind of off topic but I've seen alot of your gameplay, and if you want, when you use the tac laser on the m4, you can select the xrk m4s blueprint tac laser, which will turn the desert brown laser to a black, just in case you thought it looked out of place.

I use 105 FOV, my game still runs fine, and I can see fine at range with the "Affected" setting on, but I might try this.

@@MareSrbija for me 110+ is to high, everything is just way too zoomed out. below 90 everything is too zoomed in. So i strike a balance more to the zoomed out side.

I use 100 independent. Works with my m4 and grau iron sights then when I run my kilo and amax they use vlk so good all the way around

Great video mate. Simple explanations for simpletons.
Find your perfect FOV for your monitor where you see people at range without having to use independent ADS FOV.
Don't go 120 FOV cause your fav streamer uses it, cause he probably has an expensive, higher resolution monitor.
On my old 1080p 60hz monitor the ideal FOV is 106-107. If I go above that, targets become really hard to see and their movements look faster, making them doubly harder to hit, because I don't play on 144hz.
Don't get used to relying on independent, it will fk with your close quarters ADS and flicks, not just visual recoil.
Find the FOV which feels best on your monitor and never change it.
man I love counter strike, everybody has got the same "everything" except for when you play at different aspect ratios. frankly that's not an apples to apples comparison though....

Independent or Affected is totally personal preference and will not fck up your muscle memory, but constantly changing the setting will! What Stodeh forgot to mention is that changing between affected/independent also changes your sensitivity for the different scopes/sights (as the FOV changes for those sights depending on the setting) which in turn changes your perceived sens for those weapon sights/scopes. basically only change your FOV and the independent/Affected settings when you are ready to build up your muscle memory from scratch. Of course the bigger the change the longer it will take.
Also @Stodeh a good mention in this video also would be that you use no USA setting (universal soldier aiming) as in your monitor coefficient setting is set at 0.00, which means your zoomed in sensitivities are much different than someone playing with 1.33 coefficient (Monitor Distance match at 75% vertical). I am a firm believer, as you are, that the best value for your muscle memory is 0.00 coefficient as it will make your percieved sensitivity the same across all FOV ranges. It is harder to get used to, especially for very low sens players, but is the best option for muscle memory when converting sens between FOV's (which is basicly what happens when you zoom in on a weapon, a different FOV). Also Affected FOV setting does not keep your FOV setting it just set the FOV value "closer" to your set FOV but it still changes the FOV just less that Independant.

The only think I love about it is that it seems that you are moving so much faster. And when I rush its just feels Like I have shadow every time.
High fov makes your sensitivity feel slower, not faster. So if anything you wanna increases your sensitivity when you increase your fov in order to make it feel similar.
Also recoil isn't less of a factor with higher fov, it does exactly the same. The only things that changes is that it FEELS like its less (while in reality youre just judging distances as being longer when using high fov compared to low fov) as well as being able to keep track of what's going on a bit better while shooting (although this only applies to very high recoil guns).
so where are these settings eaxactly, cause im lookin thru the menu, i dont see the FOV slider anywhere

@@MechaMan3451 you're absolutely right not all matches are this intense. Whoever was sniping towards the end that was picking them off was obviously a pretty cold player to pin them down. Wish I had to the time to get better which most people don't.
It’s more dependent on how far you sit from your screen as you can give yourself headaches, migraines, and motion sickness sitting closer too your screen garners a higher fov because then you can interpret information as periferal and lower fov when you sit further away this is also how and why consoles often have lower fov as the casual gamer will sit say on a couch anywhere from 6-12 feet away (2-4 meters approximately) and it allows for cost effective measures with power allowing for lower prices
i would love a mouse sense and dpi video and maybe why you chose to copy your sense from a previous game. might not be great for a full video but i want to try your settings. thanks stodeh for the interesting content

@@chrisa8863 bro you have aim assist. Have you ever played mouse and keyboard? I played controller for 20 years and recently switched to mouse and keyboard. It is WAY harder. You actually have to maintain your aim and hit your shots. On controller you just need to be near the guy and aim assist makes your shots hit. Try playing on a mouse and aim at the guys shoulder, you will miss completely. Now do the same with controller and see all your shots connect...There are positives and negatives for both.

If your cm/360° remains the same, then a higher FOV will feel slower compared to a lower FOV.
You can easily see this when you zoom in with a sniper btw.

Finally someone who actually understands FOV. Yes it's preference depending on your play style. NO it does NOT make you move faster, it just looks like you're covering more ground because the camera is zoomed out.

That's exactly it, sometimes I play with console players and they tell me "you go faster then me, I wanna go like you". No mate, we cover the same distance/time, it's just an impression. To be honest I can't play low FOV, I fall asleep after a few minutes, I need that speed impression.

Independent ads zoom could be confusing close quarters indoor though. A lot of the top players use Affected to stay on target easier in fast pace situations.
Fov changes have been on multiple console games, modern warfare is just dumb for not adding it to console

Running 120° and affected here, JoeWoe style. For long distance i have my VLK scope. For the rest, affected always gives me peripheral awareness even in close quarter fights.

I actually discovered that if you use and are used to high fov you can literally zoom with irons. I discovered it at the beginning of season 6 because using high fov irons on tank factory is really hard.
