It's sad that people make such foul comments on footage like this - this is class amateur footage and deserves better comment. I can just imagine Anton Rodgers' commentary on this. God Rest his Soul. Brilliant video. Well done!
Ah back in the day! Double decker sandwiches at Dawlish Warran, sunken boat at Starcross, rockcakes, clagg, Laira scrapline of 50's, coach B and flappy-flippy ash treys.
Loving the double Valentas in the video, 5*! I wish I was able to film more Valenta-powered HST sets! :) Most of the power cars in that region are now predominantly MTUs.
I now volunteer for the NRM Shildon, slowly creeping towards my guards man ticket, then onto my fireman training :) Would love to go mainline, but they say you should never meet ur heros (work for them in this case) Hope NRM take a mk3 IC 9 car set + 4 power cars (all valenta's) into preservation. IC set + 2 Power cars 1 Power car as spares. 1 power for stripping parts to retro-fit the prototype power car (41 001) at York
Yes it's a touch hellfire at 1.49 but what about the guy with two cameras on a single tripod who appears to have NOT taken a picture! I wonder if he now, today regrets it!!!!!
IC at the very least should not have been privatised. To much red tape between the ROSCO's, TOC, NR, DfT, RAIB, ect.... Much prefered IC when it was under one name (i know it was BR) I'd prefer to see the entire rail system go back to "The Big Four" type of running. If BR never happened what trains would we have now? I was 5 when this was recorded, don't remmeber alot, but i remmeber the Valenta reducing me to tears as a 5 yr old in Darlington station. Every weekend with my late grandad
I keep coming back to this video for the 1.49 sound. and what acceleration!!!
Wow. HSTs truley at their best. Fantastic!!
still sad. love this video
