Pulsating reverse? In most cases reverse runs of your 2nd gear clutches. Which means there getting old. Start a small escrow for that rig, you will need it. If it doesn't pulsate at all when your foot is off the brake then I am WRONG about this.
I would check the local junk yards for a tailgate.

Idk if youve tried fixing the tailgate yet. But I wouldnt recommend hitting it with a hammer to fix it. Set it on the groumd under the truck and use a block and a jack to push it back straight.

Also consider South Dakota. The entire state has high-speed Internet access, they have no income tax, no personal property tax, it’s a red state, and their sales tax is only 4.2%. There are still massive forested areas, including millions of your beloved evergreens. 🙂

If it was the transmission shuddering in reverse under a slight load.. like backing up an incline.. it would do it with out the brakes being applied. That would indicate possibly old fluid .. would probably only do it when hot / up to temperature .

Use a strap across your tailgate from each side put a jack in the middle and then you can bend your tailgate

wow HD is pricey where you are.
Your brakes sounds like you might have warped rotors or drums . If they’re still good you should be able to get them turned at most auto stores . Should be cheaper than replacing.
Im not 100% sure but i think AAA will tow patches something to consider.
