Straighten the tailgate, put it on the ground, place some plywood on the bent part, slightly driving the truck on to it, if the truck's not quite heavy enough you can put a stick under each end of the tailgate and allow the gap between the ground and the tailgate to allow for a little extra bend,, another option is you can use your vice to pinch it
now, with all your skills, you can build yourself a comfy home on wheels...i imagine a "2-room" home...Office with computer in the front (when bed is out you can sit comfy there and work), sleeping, cooking in the back...looking forward to the "building" videos...keep it up Nathan!
Hey man your amazing. I’ve just got out of a 7 year relationship and it seems the only thing that takes me to a place of peace is when I watch your videos so thank you. Much love from uk north west 😊
Nice of you to say, thanks 😊
@@ClassALiving thank you for replying. You have made my day 😁
If you do not want the clamps sticking out then drill holes and bolt it directly to the bed sides. I have done that with some butyl tape between the shell and the bed and it rides well and quiet. On the rear door gas shocks use some 1/2" angle aluminum and cut to desired length to slide on the struts to act as stop where desired. If you need any parts for the canopy most RV dealers carry many items in stock. Like a key to lock the rear latch or maybe the seal you mentioned for the front panel. The RV dealers usually sell and install the toppers.
Good to know, thanks!
Makes me feel good the canopy went to good use for someone who would enjoy/need it! Happy to have met another Ridgefield person!
A heat gun will soften up the front trim piece to make the install easy
You should have gave it to him for free
Use the new truck canopy is your New living area because you can take that bed out of the front of your cab and put it back there when you have more room to stretch out and feel more better
Just go to the junkyard and pick up a tailgate. It will seal much better, probably get out of there for 50 bucks.
Truck looks AMAZING, Nathan!....life IS GOOD!!))
In my area people can’t give canopy’s away, I guess in your rainy climate they are more sought after. I have a similar one on my truck, don’t forget foam tape where it meets the seem.
My dad used closed cell foam tape on his canopies. Open cell would let water and dirt bleed through between the topper and the bed rail. You might wan to anchor down your generator. I heard a vehicle stop behind mine once. Heard voices. Pulled my window cover down and a couple people were eyeballing my generator on the back. I have a heavy cable and lock on mine. It's not 100% effective, but it makes a thief work for it.
Yeah, thats pretty nice!! put your bed on one side and maybe a shelf on the other side for a kitchen/gaming area. I'd probably put the fridge in the extended cab part. Maybe a high amp alternator to charge the house battery while the truck is running.
A good backup is a walmart/ebay 12v electric blanket and a dedicated car battery with a battery isolator or dc/dc buck converter. Keep you warm all night
Need to get a boot that goes between the cab and the topper we had one and a slide in unit that went the bed it was a dinette that made into a bed homemade curtains and me and my siblings rode in the back of that kinda sucked laying down for hours at a time but we made it work!
Love the canopy. Really makes the truck look different.
I like Rusty
THE CANOPY VIDEO!!!!!!
Find a body work shop. For $150,- they straighten the tailgate to perfect. You do the epoxy body filler sanding and rattle can painting it yourself? Or get a straight salvage yard tail gate?
Congrats on the topper!! Funny Synchronicity here. I just got home from a long trip picking up a full on Apache slide on pickup truck camper and then your video here popped up.
That's fantastic. With some tlc that canopy is going to come out nice. You're pretty impressive with your work. We look forward to seeing what you do to this canopy. God bless you Nathan! Did I spell your name correctly?
Find a pick a part scrap yard for tailgate would be pretty cheap I would bet
this is a game changer !!
I don't know if you're aware of it, but they make a inner tube to go between the cab and the camper. Allowing you to pass through the sliding glass window into the camper without getting out of the truck. That might be an option for you to merge both areas, I like a little apartment. God bless
Hey bro, hope the donation helps, you could just keep making videos as a job, but whatever you do, thanks for the cool videos.
Thank you so much buddy, that helps a ton. And thanks for saying so, I like making videos, work never seems to work out.. lots more to come 😊
You need some spot mirrors
Must have missed something, what happened to the diesel heater? Noisy, Won't light, too Smokey pump problems? Not sure if you knew, seems that the diesel heater lights better if you run on high for about an hour then shut off. The Trials and Tribulations of Nathan
Glowplug stopped working. ☮️
Always been inspired by your perseverance and tenacity.
Does the lucas transmission stop slip work?
What happened to Patches? Did you move on from the RV rebuild?
The person who owned the ranch didn't want Nate to film there anymore, the build is on hold.
