    The 2 dials on this particular flapper allow you to control how long your toilet will flush. The key is to get it to the optimal setting that allows the toilet to be completely flushed with only the minimum amount of water. The benefit to this is that your using less water and also your toilet runs for less time after you flush because it doesn't have to refill as much water in the tank.

      Was noticing the same, Bret. So essentially, the lower the number (or smaller the hole) the less water being used...
      if I'm not mistaken, yea?

    • @andrews7993
      @andrews7993 Рік тому +4

      @@JD0586someone correct me if wrong but I believe it would be the other way around. The size of the hole determines how quickly water enters the flapper weighing it down until it shuts again
      So a larger hole means a shorter time before the flapper shuts and therefore less water is used

    my old flapper was not in the right height at all; so, I am going by feel trying to hone in on the best setting. I am toying with the dials on the flapper too. I work on my toilet every month, still it does not flush well. I augered 6ft. I changed the valve on the left, and the flapper. I also did try to clear the hard water deposits with acids prior to changing this hardware.

    Does increasing the chain length help with the flapper sealing properly and not leaking?

    The flapper was easy to install but it sticks open intermittently. I'm not able to bend it enough or figure out why it sticks in the open position sometimes.

    Would a seal replacement work instead of replacing the whole valve?

    • @weekendhomeprojects
      @weekendhomeprojects  6 місяців тому

      In my case, no. The flapper was not as rigid as it once was, so it was not laying flat enough to make a good seal.

    My flapper won't go back down, is there a weight in the flapper? mine doesn't have that nub underneath it.

    • @DougHinVA
      @DougHinVA 9 місяців тому

      a fellow who does this a lot uses 2 nuts or nut and washers to slip on the chain so that the flapper has a bit of weight on it and presses it against the round ceramic lip of the opening at the tank bottom.
