The 360° camera of the Triton is so much clearer than the usual and even vs the D-Max ... oh, the D-Max doesn't have. Drove both as well and felt similarly comfortable, no sharp firm ride for the Mitsu. Should be something about the tire pressure.
Can you test the 1.9L Dmax? I've found it intresting when I going to borneo last month and seeing the 1.9 dmax overloaded with more than 1 ton of palm while using 2H at depth of bornean jungle which is kinda impressed me because of how capable that small engine.
You seriously just said the Triton drives more like a truck then th3 DMAX lol. The Dmax is the most truck like dual cab out there. The Triton also gets bagged for having soft suspension by other reviewers, yet you found it harder than a DMAX? The Isuzu marketing budget is no joke.
To be fair having driven both, the DMax feels just as comfy as the Triton. That's why I'm quite confused why the Triton's firm and sharp-edged here. Not sure if the tire pressures were checked however, and curious why the crystal-clear 360 cam of the Mitsu wasn't mentioned with adds to the better visibility.
Could be that the other reviewers may have been driving the GSR which I believe has one less leaf spring in the back making it a more softer ride compared to the GLS
I’m looking at both of these utes and test drove each of the top models. Dmax was smooth to drive but the 3lt engine would give you a head ache on a long drive as it drones. However the rear seats you can fold down or up which is ideal for tradies. But the black interior including the roof felt like you were sitting in a black hole. Triton felt quicker , rear seats didn’t fold down, felt a bit brighter and not depressing and dark like the Dmax. The camera on the triton are amazing heaps of options including the curb view which is great for parking. But I’m not Sold on either at the moment.
Thanks Chris Lilly. Here's a short story in 2016 I brought a brand new Triton to tow 2.5 ton, it was absolutely useless on many hills taking off so I sold it for a 2014 D-Max.... The difference in towing ability was night and day... Is this different now?
I test drove both cars extensively. The safety features on the triton drove me bonkers and the gear ratio felt a bit erratic as well. The erratic gearing made me baulk at buying the triton as I need it for towing a van. I ended up buying the DMAX.
What an absolute load of garbage The triton since the 2.4 was introduced is super reliable unlike the Dmax which are getting a reputation for faulty injectors causing holes blown in pistons . The only major problem with the triton has been developing lately is caused by mechanics over torquing the injectors causing cracked heads This in itself is not a fault of the car itself its the mechanics fault I own a late model dmax and triton
Mitsubishi gsr top best fuel efficiency ,the best diesel engine of the years, best driving performance engine handling stablity best safety features hill descend control, gearbox transmision shifter ,comfortable cabin, easier to junior offroad drivers.
The new triton is definitely on the ugliest cars list that front looks absolutely shocking the previous gen triton looked so good and i thought you know they are finally making a ute that actually doesnt look terrible but then this thing came out
In Thailand dmax is no.1 because of 3.0l engine capacity,3.0l is sleeper engine of dmax when you remap it its a monster dmax...by the way ttion in the Philippines have an issue on cruise control or engine installed

But one thing I say the Isuzu motor and gearbox and running gear has been proven are use the same motor in a light truck. My choice is always Isuzu with the single turbo, not like the Mitsubishi which twin turbos what are you gonna do in the middle of Australia when it buggers up Isuzu have nearly the most service centres in Australia that goes wrong. You can get it fixed easier
Driving ‘X’ modern ute with power steering around the burbs is fatiguing due to slightly heavier powered steering cannot be a serious statement. Surely.
You cannot go wrong with triton or dmax compare to overpriced hilux and ranger. But triton or dmax will be prover its capabilities when you use it there in the outback range
Interesting. I totally dislike the so called new look BIG SQUARE fronts and will not buy any of the new utes. So, the Isuzu gets my vote. Will I buy on, possibly. But, each to their own I guess.
What a Muppet and absolutely clueless comment Funny how several actual 4wd experts still have the triton better especially when it comes to off road capabilities Mitsubishi's super select is the best 4wd system on the market end of story
What you mean to say is the triton is generations ahead of the d max and hilux For starters the d max does not have full time awd. Its a terrible ute for saftey on wet roads and they always Crash or get into accidents. I literally saw one spun by a roundabout completely out of control. As bad as ford is in reliability, the v6 ranger is much safer on the roads than the a dmax or hilux , because it has full time awd. the triton is one of the safest utes because if it's super select awd system which can be enabled on wet roads and you can drive at regular speeds The hilux and dmax systems are trash and the awd can only be enabled at speeds under 40kmph Dmax engine is reliable and functional but it does not have variable valve timing , it's refinement is not even close to the triton. In reality the dmax is outclassed by the triton in every regard. Even offroading the triton awd system is superior. You should really do research before making a blank statement. The triton offers the best offroad performance Most technology for its price.
