We've had AdBlue/DEF for about 5-10 years in Europe (about 15-20 years in >7.5t)and it generally causes less issues than DPF. We even have GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) now with Euro 6d!
I own a mighty 4m41 ML Triton its done 360,000km and gets driven as a 4x4, ill hopefully win the lotto one day and get a new ute but it will be a MV Triton thats for sure, nothing frightens a triton!
My MR is a dog towing my van but it more than holds it own off road. Even dragging bogged 79's out on my last trip to morteon island. Got a 2 inch lift and 33's on it though.
The Triton was always a lighter, less expensive, less complicated option. It built its name as a reliable quiet achiever. That was their niche. I’m sure Mitsubishi did their market research, but they seem to have made a decision to permanently step out into the very crowded large dual cab market.
Yep totally agree, that was their point of difference, I see heaps on farms and in fleets for that reason, now they're they same size and price people will go to one with a bigger engine, I have a feeling they just killed the Triton.
@@silverdale3207 I hope we are wrong but I agree, just can’t see where it fits anymore. Someone else commented that Mitsubishi had the Chinese and Indian utes nipping at their heels so maybe felt they’d rather compete at the full size end of the market.
Happy sticking with our '22 MR. I'd like the 360 degree camera but it seems that the big difference is the towing capacity and to be honest, you'd have to be crazy to tow 3.5 tonnes with any dual cab ute. I wouldn't tow anything that weighed more than the car.
Have had my mq since November and loving it 6speed manual with all terrains goes anywhere i point it, yeah shes got the lag and is pretty gutless on a good day, but it was 10k cheaper than anything else 4x4 with the same amount of kms and it still gets the work done. Solid reliable vehicle 👌
Ok so here is my 10 cent's.... I have had an MQ and hated it, I went to a BT-50 after that, it was ok but a bit meh!...I was considering a ranger (the new Volkswagen one) and my brother bought one and i wasn't super impressed. I bit the bullet an got the MV GLS after all the PR hype Mitsubishi were putting out there and I was pleasantly surprised. I have done a 2" lift with 32" tyres and bar work..... nothing crazy but drives great and is awesome offroad. Downsides? turning traction control off in 4wd hi is a pain in the ass (endless scrolling through menus involved). Also the driver monitoring system is the worst thing known to mankind (how Jesse put up with it in this video is beyond me) I turn it off on every drive because it so annoying. Without the DMS this would be one of the best dual cab 4x4's on the market today backed by a solid warranty.
Have you got the DMS software update though??? Most of the new Tritons sold from beginning of the month had the update applied. Most people have gotten the update during service or made an unscheduled visit to get the update. I admit it is a pain and my service is booked for two weeks time, so I am Looking forward to that. But by most accounts the software change has watered down the monitor considerably. Would be nice to have a complete off option though, otherwise, these are a solid rig.
Great vid fellas, it answered so many of my questions perfectly. I’m rapt they kept the brakes the same, this means sidewall height isn’t reduced, so important to me. When I finally want to upgrade my ever trusty MQ18, in a few more years, they should have the bugs worked out of the new model. It’ll never be better than my old GU, but at least all the lights will work😂
Had 2 Tritons, both went over 400k with regular servicing, neither ever gave me any cause to consider other brands, I now drive a Gen4 Pajero totally happy with all of them, chasis bending or breaking happens to other units, will take the Triton over Ford or Isuzu, the Hilux like all Toyota's are riding on the brand, in my opinion they are just as problematic as the others.
We currently have a CK Pajero, 2004 model... Its not reliable. A lot issues....my 2010 Triton really performs well.. really durable and easy to maintain.
The reason you should choose the Triton over the D-Max is for the centre-diff Super Select II transmission which you can switch into 4-High in the rain on sealed roads - which you cannot do with the standard D-Max without risking driveline wind-up. A few grand cheaper and the Triton is literally more capable.
Not everyone understands the importance of super select full time awd in a ute, it literally makes driving it safer on wet roads. I have seen and heard of many isuzu dmax crash and get into accidents on simple wet roads Even a passenger car does not crash as much as a dmax on wet roads
11:25 Australia outlawed "dealer only servicing" to maintain your warranty years ago. All's that needed is a completed log book by a licensed motor mechanic.
I love how versatile the Triton is, especially for off-roading! 🌄 It’s kinda the underdog but does a great job. Can't wait to see how it performs against the old model! 🤔💪
@@ChromecastM8 but no DPF issues that have caused havoc for manufactures and owners. Potentially better the environment. The only issue is when idiots have used brake fluid instead of adblue which I know a certain dealer had an issue with an idiot customer on multiple occasions.
our Mk petrol has done 350000 kms and we have had no problems with anything, only the power windows 😆. The triton has been up to Peron point so many times I can't remember all of them and down to Perth every year both while towing and being fully loaded in the tray.
21:40 Have you driven a new D-MAX? I bought 2 of them for work (4x4 dual cabs), and they are the most twitchy, nervous chassis I have ever driven. It's bloody awful, even on a smooth freeway. And then there is the "safety features" that intervein and beep at you every 3 seconds. These can't be disabled (yet). Its enough to make you want to steer the POS things into a tree. I tell you what, they absolutely SUCK. If the Triton doesn't do these things, get the Triton.
@@MrTonaluv Can you disable it? You literally can't in the D-Max. Speed sign beeping, red dash flashing and beeping because it thinks You are about to have a head-on collision when you're only merging normally. Etc...
Similar experience with the work bt, change the settings for the speed stops it beeping when you’re on the highway and it sees an off-ramp sign…. The warning and braking is almost unbearable tho I’ve almost gotten rear ended a few times times now going around someone turning and half way through it slams the brakes on
That's what I thought until I bought a 99 for 1k completely stock an it kept up with Toyotas and Nissan ifs no problems. Only thing that stock it was me hydrolockin the motor
The GLS and GSR has the extra drive FWD setting as well including a super select 2 instead of the easy select that the GLX+ and below have, in GLS and GSR has drive modes and hill descent control. With wireless charging and the GLS has the option for leather seats or cloth☺️
Thanks so much for reviewing the triton! I’ve got an MQ & nothing can kill it except towing… I’ve only got a camper trailer but the manual gearbox really doesn’t like it. Thinking of getting a new car & was veering away from the triton due to this, but maybe not….!
AdBlue or DEF has now been mandatory on all diesel consumer vehicles in the US since 2007. While it clearly helps emissions it also causes far more reliability issues. It's inevitable so let's hope car manufacturers find better ways to improve reliability.
yeah i dont trust it mate. the more electronics, the more that can go wrong. cant go as remote in the us and europe as you can here and thats when you need nothin to go wrong
Absolutely love my 2020 MR GLS, was looking forward to upgrading to the MV but once I seen the pricing I changed my mind pretty quickly. I bought my MR because it was good value but that’s no longer the case with the MV
I wouldn’t want the idea of something filming and monitoring my face while driving. My truck is one place that I have to myself without modern cctv society!
I had a new MV for a day and couldn't feel the power gain. I'd like to try one with my van on, but in all honesty I couldn't see any need to change. I've been across the country with my MR and 2.3t van and have never had any problems.
Great review guys 🍻 Good to know Mitsubishi has done their home work and really improved the truck all around. My only complaint is the newer one front fascia just looks clueless, older one just looks sleeker 🍻 Hopefully they do a facelift soon and get rid of those dinky Hyundai/ Kia style headlights 🤢
People sleep on "Mich-abishi" but i tell ya, save 10k on the initial price and cant beat a 10year new car and 10 year capped price service and new MV is complete luxury inside
The adblue sistem is in use in europe for a few years, is mandatory for any small commercial vehicles(I refer this vehicules bacause of the amount of km's those normaly make) and there is no problems at all with reliability, and is available on lots of gas stations or retail stores. Probably the only drawback for the australia market is that you have one more thing to carry on remote trips.
We get the same ute models here in South Africa and adblue is non-existent here. So there is definitely no argument in whether it's actually necessary or not!
Same, so bloody intrusive, it's not the manufacturers fault though they're just making what they're required to. Will be illegal to disable this btw, you're not allowed to disable any safety equipment that comes with the vehicle.
@@adamm5282 As far as I know the AMCAP 5 star is not a legislative requirement, it's just a social expectation. They are a private company making stuff up at this point, it's no longer about safety only money.
The breaking performance doesn't depend on the brakes at all. You could fit the brakes of a VW Up on the Triton and they'd be enough to lock all 4 wheels up
I think the new MV ticks a lot of boxes for towing and touring and certainly be on the shopping list. As an owner of a Dmax Xterrain for 3.5 years and 77000kms towing a lot. The Dmax has been impressive. But I was expecting a bit more than what’s been offered in the 2024 Dmax. Sorry, but I’m a bit disappointed in Isuzu.
Bit of a PSA I guess. The OE flare kit for the MV Triton doesn't fit correctly on the model in this video ( GLX for NZ, GLS for AU) after fitting to my GLX the corners are not flush to the ute. Couple trips back to the dealer they have finally found out that there is a very slight difference in sizing compared to the the higher models that have the different bumper. They have given me zero time frame on when correct flares will be made for the base model
Adblue has been around for yonks with other diesel manufacturers but for me that ADAS system does my head in, I had one for a day whilst the wife’s outlander was getting serviced
Full credit to Mitsubishi for competing with the others and I don't doubt it would be a reliable, comfortable and capable vehicle but you've made me more confident that I made the right decision in buying my Hilux. Hilux may have older tech, I mean shit it has a 8 segment digital clock in the dash in 2024! But give me that any day over face observing cameras, electric assist steering and bloody AdSpew! Oh and if anyone buys one please get a Roobar fitted ASAP, children shouldn't have to see that ugly bumper so think of the children.
@@supfpv Permantly? If you need to turn it off every time you start it my point isn't so moot any more, besides your also turning off technology that you paid for.
Like any new dual/single cab utes it need time to break in to really see where it sits in the eco system of the market. The fact its price is near level with most other models it’s got a high bar to meet, where’s your previous models it’s was a bang for buck, paid what you get workhorse type. AdBlue personally is a real nuisance and worse if you can’t up level the capacity if you plan to go more remote. By the end of the day it’s still cheaper than hilux and ranger so it’s got that going for it at least (ain’t counting dmax with that statement). I saw this that the recent National 4x4 show in Melbourne when Opposite lock was showcasing their new bulbar for it, it does help a bit with that hideous bulldog face, and honestly it could still do what many have done to the older tritons, just more for either the retires with towing, or new drivers that wants a brand new Ute but on the low end of the spectrum in terms of cost.
Love my 2010 triton, best vehicle I’ve ever owned in 40 years of driving, had it since new and driven it fking hard. Wouldn’t touch one of these new ones even if it was free.
Mate... they don't do recalls to make the driver monitoring system "even better" (9:96) .... they do recalls because the system is Faulty, not because they want to make it even better. There is a big difference between the two.
@@supfpv Not faulty... yeag right... so you mean they will spend thousands and thousands to fix something that isn't broken ??? ... what nice people they are.
With the popularity of the "mid-size" market in North America and the ridiculous price of our "full size" trucks, I'd be surprised if we don't see more Utes coming over. Ford finally brought the Global Ranger platform here (different engines however) we've always had the Tacoma (Hilux) and the Nissan Frontier (Navara). We still have the GM twins that you don't (though I think you guys would love the Colorado ZR2. But nothing from Isuzu or Mitsubishi anymore. But we don't get the diesels. (They didn't sell/too expensive)
Anyone thinking of towing 3.5 ton with this should study GVM, GCM, axle load front/rear, payload before hooking up. Because as soon as you put some proper tyres on, fill up with fuel, put a bull bar and winch on, put some stuff in the tray under the canopy and load up at least one passenger you may find you are over the limits. Check carefully because policing of these weights is intense, and if you crash while over you will still get weighed and your insurance company will walk away.
After deciding not to jump into a next gen Ranger from my PX3 ranger, I copped a new MV GSR. Loving the underdog, sad the new model is kinda being slept on. I've had more questions and interests from clients i visit each day about the MV compared to when I had the Ranger. There is genuine interest out there for these, and they shouldn't be overlooked. Not a Triton tragic by any means, but I do not regret the purchase. I had no expectations for these (after owning an MQ and absolutely hating it), only a few boxes to tick, it did that and more surprisingly. There are a few reviews online that don't do these things justice sadly, but I get a sense those reviewers are paid by other brands, sometimes it's blatantly obvious. Are these things perfect - No. Do they have everything - No. Would I buy another - Yep! Strange to admit that, but they are a significant leap ahead of the MQ/MR model and definitely a solid option to a Ranger, which costs more anyway. But as I always say, ignore the online videos and reviews and drive one in person - some dealers will let you take one for 24 hours.....
He seems pretty confident to flaunt that 10 year warranty without mentioning it’s Mandatory to have the vehicle serviced at Mitsubishi for the ENTIRE 10 years if you get it serviced anywhere else and it becomes a 5 or 7 year warranty not sure which but still a pretty glaring omission
I've got a 2005 Triton V6 highride dual cab 2 wheel drive with a tradie box on it which I bought in Townsville back in 2019 and its been a great car even took it of road through a couple of creek's and small sand dunes and it went well , just let the tyre pressure down. It was even better to drive than my mate's 4x4 ranger and out performed it!
They havent changed the gearbox ratios. Its the exact same Aisin AC60F transmission found in the last model triton. Same transmission as the Hilux, Prado, Fortuna, Dmax, BT50 and many more vehicles. Need to get the right info before publishing.
Thought the same but I think he was trying to describe the driving experience. While the biturbo engine only makes 40Nm more peak torque. It's be closer to 80-100 Nm at lower rpms. Interestingly, in NZ the early release specs showed a move to 3.9:1 diffs but the Aussie spec sheets show they retained the 4.272:1 diffs.
it can be the same transmission body with different gear ratios, no? the pajero sport has the same 8 speed aisin as the lc200 from 2016, but im pretty sure they have different ratios
@@TORTLESSS Yes it is possible to have different ratios in the same model of box. But in this instance, the published specs show the gearbox ratios are exactly the same for MR and MV. I was disappointed they didn't use the 8spd from the PS. With 3.9 diffs you would have had a lower 1st gear and equal top final drive ratios (box+diff). Using the 8spd with the 4.272:1 diffs would give you a materially lower first gear and still retained a viable (in real world use) top overdrive. Given the manuals come with 3.6/3.7:1 diffs, you could drastically improve the performance on and off road by swapping to the auto 3.9 or 4.272:1 diffs
@@TORTLESSS the triton doesnt have the Aisin 8 speed, they never have at least in australia. Its still the Aisin 6 speed. Check the specs brochure on the MR and MV tritons. Exact same transmission as before. Both show 6 speed trans and identical gear ratios

@hypotheticallywhatiskyle actually Hiluxes were the worst for that. Ironically the NZ Army ditched Hiluxes that were snapping for Navaras and never had an issue so go figure.
I have a 2023 mr triton got it just before this model was released I love it things a weapon alloy tray on the back and canopy yes I gotta watch my weights but with everything else in the after market world nothing can’t be fixed cut and shuts GVM upgrade tuneing ect.
Awesome video as always Jesse and 4WD 24/7 Crew.
We've had AdBlue/DEF for about 5-10 years in Europe (about 15-20 years in >7.5t)and it generally causes less issues than DPF. We even have GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) now with Euro 6d!
I avoid anything that requires Def. Screw that crap. Buddy has a diesel shop and so damn many Def problems
Granted I'm in western Washington state
so what is the major change that could spell disaster?
Got us with that fuckin click bait again
I think they’re referring to the price. The decision to move from being a cheaper option to a like for like alternative to cars like the Dmax.
@@andrewford80 classic sell out tactics
All of the current utes are great, all they need from factory is a decent set of tyres to go 95% of places! AT/MT your choice. No lift needed.
You'd certainly hope so with their price tags 😂
winch + tires, some side step rock sliders would nice too, destroy the bumpers first before upgrading to a bullbar and rear sliders 😂
I own a mighty 4m41 ML Triton its done 360,000km and gets driven as a 4x4, ill hopefully win the lotto one day and get a new ute but it will be a MV Triton thats for sure, nothing frightens a triton!
I thought the infomercials were normally a Tuesday video.
Love my MR Triton. Reliable and super impressive off road and on road.
I’m sure Mitsubishi did their market research, but they seem to have made a decision to permanently step out into the very crowded large dual cab market.
because the budget market got flooded with cheap Chinese utes
Yep totally agree, that was their point of difference, I see heaps on farms and in fleets for that reason, now they're they same size and price people will go to one with a bigger engine, I have a feeling they just killed the Triton.
@@silverdale3207 I hope we are wrong but I agree, just can’t see where it fits anymore. Someone else commented that Mitsubishi had the Chinese and Indian utes nipping at their heels so maybe felt they’d rather compete at the full size end of the market.
Gotta love Jesse on the job.
Happy sticking with our '22 MR.
I'd like the 360 degree camera but it seems that the big difference is the towing capacity and to be honest, you'd have to be crazy to tow 3.5 tonnes with any dual cab ute.
I wouldn't tow anything that weighed more than the car.
The GSR comes with 360 camera.
@@DFRAdventures
I didn't know that.
We had to go for the GLX+ as we wanted a club cab and they don't make them in GSR.
Not all GSR's have it. Our 22 model was part of the covid/ post covid parts shortage and its not on there.
With the production of this video, hope to see ute of the year 2024 soon
Have had my mq since November and loving it 6speed manual with all terrains goes anywhere i point it, yeah shes got the lag and is pretty gutless on a good day, but it was 10k cheaper than anything else 4x4 with the same amount of kms and it still gets the work done. Solid reliable vehicle 👌
A throttle controller wakes them up a bit gives you your power a bit quicker but to wake it up properly get a tune done 👌
i just remembered they downtuned the last gen triton for australia, most countries its 180hp and 430nm, get it mild tuned bro, its reliable
Drinking game - every time jessie says, "Yeah" and "yup" 😂
Interesting review, I have an MR and it's a great car...you don't need to replace the UCA when you lift it.
I have a 50mm lift in my MR. EFS XTR struts and EFS shortened bump stops. No hitting on stock control arms, including doing Cape York. Great vehicle.
how about the vibrating rear drive shaft? I install a 1/2 inch rear drive shaft spacer to eliminate the vibration after doing 2 inch lift.
@gonsungar9420 not a problem for me, mine is an auto and they have the single driveshaft
It’ll never be better than my old GU, but at least all the lights will work😂
MQ & MR are great rigs for touring and getting out into the bush. Gets it done and you can go further with factory rear lockers 👍
Absolutely sick new model! I`ve been driven 2020 model till nowadays. Cheers from Siberia and thanks for the vid!
Still happy with my MN triton, no plans on changing anytime soon :)
I will stick with the most reliable Triton Mitsi have made, the ML with 4m41
Bullshit, 4G52 LO22GSFR!!!😂😂😂
This video brought to you by Mitsubishi and EFS $$$. Thank you for shopping.
Can’t beat the triton I had the petrol 07 ml 380,000 ks on the clock went every all over the Kimberley’s ,they make the best dual cabs for the price ,
The reason you should choose the Triton over the D-Max is for the centre-diff Super Select II transmission which you can switch into 4-High in the rain on sealed roads - which you cannot do with the standard D-Max without risking driveline wind-up. A few grand cheaper and the Triton is literally more capable.
Not everyone understands the importance of super select full time awd in a ute, it literally makes driving it safer on wet roads. I have seen and heard of many isuzu dmax crash and get into accidents on simple wet roads
Even a passenger car does not crash as much as a dmax on wet roads
@@warcrabcyber9908rubbish
11:25 Australia outlawed "dealer only servicing" to maintain your warranty years ago. All's that needed is a completed log book by a licensed motor mechanic.
I love how versatile the Triton is, especially for off-roading! 🌄 It’s kinda the underdog but does a great job. Can't wait to see how it performs against the old model! 🤔💪
Cheers fellas. Appreciate it
Superb review i was looking forward to you guys doing this one.
Euro diesels have been using Adblue for 5+ years with good results. So it maybe new to the Ute market but it is proven technology.
Adblue is all lies mate just an extra cost for us normal citizens.
Good results? Lol. The only result is less money in your pocket
@@ChromecastM8 but no DPF issues that have caused havoc for manufactures and owners. Potentially better the environment. The only issue is when idiots have used brake fluid instead of adblue which I know a certain dealer had an issue with an idiot customer on multiple occasions.
Reminds me of that video where beers in the shed was recommending every second rate old piece with a transfer case in it. 😂 Tritons, good one.
The MR GLS Premium has a 360 camera and, from memory the GSR did also. Cheers
I've got an mq and it don't like to be loaded, but mostly it just goes to the shops. Fantastic value for money.
our Mk petrol has done 350000 kms and we have had no problems with anything, only the power windows 😆.
Triton DOES do these things. The driver monitoring system is a pain
@@MrTonaluv Can you disable it? You literally can't in the D-Max. Speed sign beeping, red dash flashing and beeping because it thinks You are about to have a head-on collision when you're only merging normally. Etc...
Lots of complaints about driver monitoring in the MV.. I'd avoid until they've been dialled back
Similar experience with the work bt, change the settings for the speed stops it beeping when you’re on the highway and it sees an off-ramp sign…. The warning and braking is almost unbearable tho
I’ve almost gotten rear ended a few times times now going around someone turning and half way through it slams the brakes on

haven't done much in my MV as of yet. But my MK ol boy she is a beast, went every where never been stuck. Pulled out many navaras and hiluxs
I swear back in the day ive been on hold to centrelink with the same music as the intro haha
The GLS and GSR has the extra drive FWD setting as well including a super select 2 instead of the easy select that the GLX+ and below have, in GLS and GSR has drive modes and hill descent control. With wireless charging and the GLS has the option for leather seats or cloth☺️
What’s up with the click bait 🤷🏻♂️
Id take either Triton over a hilux or ranger.
The Mitsubishi’s look great, and are quite reliable too
Thanks so much for reviewing the triton!
It's always funny as hell when Aussies are worried about some "brand new technology" that has been around for many years in the US and Europe 😂
yeah i dont trust it mate. the more electronics, the more that can go wrong. cant go as remote in the us and europe as you can here and thats when you need nothin to go wrong
Absolutely love my 2020 MR GLS, was looking forward to upgrading to the MV but once I seen the pricing I changed my mind pretty quickly. I bought my MR because it was good value but that’s no longer the case with the MV
Should do some videos on wagons. Always dual cabs! Change it up a bit. Still good videos, cheers guys 🤙🏽
Not keen on the clickbait stuff

Great review guys 🍻
Good to know Mitsubishi has done their home work and really improved the truck all around.
My only complaint is the newer one front fascia just looks clueless,
older one just looks sleeker 🍻
Hopefully they do a facelift soon and get rid of those dinky Hyundai/ Kia style headlights 🤢
People sleep on "Mich-abishi" but i tell ya, save 10k on the initial price and cant beat a 10year new car and 10 year capped price service and new MV is complete luxury inside
It’s awesome seeing vehicles that are just not available in the us.
We only have it In aus because of the climate scam
i think its down to australian emission regulations, south Africa probably doesn't have them
Adblue isn't necessary anywhere for vehicle operation. It is necessary in certain places to meet certain emission regulations.
Won't be buying any car with driver monitoring.
Yep me too
Same, so bloody intrusive, it's not the manufacturers fault though they're just making what they're required to. Will be illegal to disable this btw, you're not allowed to disable any safety equipment that comes with the vehicle.
100%
@@adamm5282 As far as I know the AMCAP 5 star is not a legislative requirement, it's just a social expectation. They are a private company making stuff up at this point, it's no longer about safety only money.
bloody oath mate
Oh and if anyone buys one please get a Roobar fitted ASAP, children shouldn't have to see that ugly bumper so think of the children.
you can turn it off so its a moot point

Adblue is no issue I get over 5000miles on one tank so I’m not that fussed by it
Love my 2010 triton, best vehicle I’ve ever owned in 40 years of driving, had it since new and driven it fking hard. Wouldn’t touch one of these new ones even if it was free.
Mate... they don't do recalls to make the driver monitoring system "even better" (9:96) .... they do recalls because the system is Faulty, not because they want to make it even better. There is a big difference between the two.
its not faulty, its just too sensitive and can be adjusted with a software update
@@supfpv Not faulty... yeag right... so you mean they will spend thousands and thousands to fix something that isn't broken ??? ... what nice people they are.

From my personal financial advisor
..
I'm surprised that this name is being mentioned here, I stumbled upon one of her clients testimony on CNBC news last week.
New version on the outside looks like a US spec Nissan Frontier

What is the significant change that could spell disaster? Another clickbait
