The quality of our local car channel content is world class 👌
That it is, Ciro, Ashley and the team really do set a good standard, even globally.
I am a Toyota fan but man Isuzu is really an underrated pick up.
I thought exactly the same
We should be buying more ISUZU, proudly South African...🎉
The new Navara Pro 4X is manufactured here in South Africa🇿🇦
This was just a wonderful video to watch. Simply amazing.
What an epic production 🙌🏾
I’m inspired…
Great job as always 👏🏾
when are you reviewing the ranger?
Thanks for the the great detailed edits on each 4x4 Sir !
Thanks for the comprehensive video. It was great to hear how they all compare.
been waiting on this test
The Japanese brands have focused on the older customer who is not tech savvy, while Ford/Amarock have realised that younger customers are more comfortable with tech giving Ford/Amarock the opportunity to appeal to a younger audience…
Yes young and inexperienced. They don’t know what they are getting themselves into with the Ranger and Amorak.
@@DJTrumpMAGAAnd the hilux is so outdated my great grandfather had a superior suspension on his ox wagon
@@DJTrumpMAGA agreed! Proud owner of a Triton. Unbelievable vehicle and keeps things simple so that it will last a long time to come. The insurance on Hilux and Amaroks is eye-watering.
young people r buying golfs ...they're not smart enough to realize the power of a bakkie
I like tech, and in this case the Hilux is probably not the best, that one usb port and poor sound system quality., But still the Hilux interior is a very nice place to be in, the best cupholders( please use it and you will not be happy with your Ford). And I sit inside my car for long periods. I have personally sold my 2019 Hilux due to the terrible suspension, and my old 3.0 d4d is still giving me great service and with a tweak in the engine still gives 190 kw which not any of the new Diesel Fords or Amarok can equal. And the old Hilux still got the best cupholders. 😂😂😂
Isuzu D Max. Reason is durability suspension. Ford Ranger compatibility
Hilux is like a woman with a good heart and pleasing personality. Maybe not the most beautiful in a room but good looking. Maybe not the smartest of the all but very supportive wife. With that you feel like you can conquer the world
Who else find touch screens annoying no matter how "good" they are
Touch screens are never good while driving
Touch screens are terrible in a bakkie.
Mfrs should include manual button control options. Simple, easy, safe & reliable.
Also, there is no cyberhacking risk.
oh for sure!!!!! Especially when driving
I much prefer physical knobs and buttons. Touch screens are nothing but cost cutting measures.
Got my v6 Amarok PanAmericana on 27 March and the ODO justed ticked over 9,000km. Very happy with my purchase and could not see myself buying any other bakkie in 2023.
This was of great help
For my kind of usage, 95% on-road usage, the rest, for the need to go off-road and 4x4, the P-Series GWM LTE 4x4 is a winner. Comfortable ride on the road, all the best safety and tech features few of them can compare with, actually much better fuel comsumption as expected (8.7l / 100km in city/suburbia, 10l/100km long-road, gunning it). Very happy with everything thus far! 5 year warranty / 100 000km, being a 2022 model, I think for 300k less, with all the safety and tech features added, plus double leather stitching, I got a fantastic buy! Loving it! I'm not a farmer, but a city-slicker, and I'm very happy with my P-Series LTE 2022 4x4. Best investment I've made thus far!
P.S. Never imagined myself driving a Chinese car, in my lifetime, being a Mercedes and Honda fan, all my life, I am pleasantly surprised at this amazing vehicle, thus far! Only time will tell. But with 4y warranty and service left, got very little to lose! Let's see! (Apple - Designed in California, made in China lmao)
I was about to say as well that the Adidas you might be wearing could be designed in Germany but made in China, so methinks the 'China is fake or cheap' argument needs to be looked at on a case by case and this P-Series needs to be given a wild pass because it's sure a good bakkie.
Thats a whole lot of justification there friend
Isn't it the only one with full lock diff 4x4💪🏼
It's a good half-tonner (okay, 650 Kg) in terms of value, although a Fiat Strada has a higher rated load capacity (720 Kg).
@@siphoalfredngwenya4629 Jip i agree, people are weird and ignorant and dont read up. They buy Iphones because they are American yet if they care to look on the box, it is made in China like almost every phone in the world apart from Samsung. If you check around in your house right now, 90% is chinese. Fact. South Africans are unfortunately really ignorant when it comes to new things imo. Buy what you will of course but just stop saying something is crap without testing it yourself or reading up. Same with Temu or Shein and Takealot, people would buy on Takealot and not Temu cuz its "chinese shit" yet Takealot literraly sells the same items posted by resellers who imported the very same items from China, to sell for a small profit lol.
I still think dmax is the best bang for money...not great, not bad..not expensive, not cheap...but still a very² capable bakkie
True
And more reliable than a Hilux even...toyboys will never admit it
The 3 liter Isuzu D'Max and clone Mazda BT 50 can with a simple computer remap gain another 50% more power and torque, one diesel specialist in Australia is with exhaust, turbo, intercooler and injector modifications doubling the output.
But safely and reliably a 30 - 50% power increase with a remap is a no brainer, the 6 speed Aisin/Warner trans will handle it with a good cooler no problem.
hi Ciro and family, awesome review as always, world class reviews!! Just a question, why was the Mahindra double cab pik up, the Karoo not included in this review, was it due to availability? As I would love to have seen this, as it is currently the cheapest double cab on offer if i'm not mistaken
The power figures are up the shit, the hilux claims 500nm but gets out dragged and easily out pulled by the rest, in Australia the reliability king is Isuzu's mighty 4j followed by the Triton, Hilux is old , outdated and ridiculously expensive, still has a class action against Toyota for engine problems. The Rangers on paper are great but have years of unreliability to shake off, you either got a good one or a shit one, its a 50/50 gamble and Ford and Toyota are renowned for being bastards with warranty claims, Toyota already making excuses for high oil usage in the new Cruiser blaming owners.
Everybody has different opinions. I always thought that if you like a particular car/bakkie and you have enough money then buy what you like. People will always say "oh that is kak or oh this is kak". These arguments will never get old.
Please review entry level bakkies. Like single turbo Ford and vw and the 1.9 Isuzu.
Ranger has been heavily improved so it makes the bakkie outstandingly good but I prefer the Amarok ❤
Thanks for the yet another world class video.
Amarok is based on a Ranger. So essentially, the same thing.
@@lehlogonolomaringa3213 I don't think you watched the video. Amarok is more refined and luxurious. Everyone knows that the 2 have the same drivetrain
Great show guy's , 👏 keep it up... strange question , I have never seen you guy's review a Landtrek Peugeot 🤔
Lovely show,great staff
The place where you will always find the truth is on the warrantee repairs vs the public perception , I know that there are some here that do not actually live up to their reputation and the fans of those brands bash the others heavily on social media , this is a pretty unbiased review with a lot of personal perception thrown in , well done
All the fancy goodies have pushed the prices to obscene levels. Best purchase I ever made was a rock solid Isuzu 3.0 LX for under R 130.000.00 - impossible to beat.
Great video as always. hoping you guys do an in-depth review of the new Mazda bakkie.
The Mazda is there, you just need to look at the Isuzu, but with a Mazda badge. Same same.
Great video. Future review suggestion: Jeep Gladiator Rubicon
One thing that would have been useful to add is the dimensions on the load tray... Is one bigger/wider than the other? Useful I think
Absolutely love this! A bakkie was missing here- Mazda BT-50.
Yes,it's the Isuzu twin, nothing wrong with twins 😊
Great review Ciro👍
The reason why the hilux just stands out is just reliability snd resale value, ive bought my hilux for 385 in 2018 and yesterday traded it in for exactly the same price price with 150000km extra on it
Hey I saw the new Toyota Crown in Milnerton today. Nice :)
YOUR BIGGEST KENYAN FAN RIGHT HERE, 08/07/2023
Would have liked to see brands like Mahindra and Peugeot included in the comparison.
I really wanted to see the Peugeot Landtrek
Yeah was wondering the same…. They should ask viewers to sponsor these vehicles, im sure we could get all sort of cars pretty quick.
If you're into Peugeot, you really dunno much about cars....
The 404 was the last good Peugeot😂
@@labourlawact7826 the irony of your comment
Stellantis is absolute crap
I like the way you seat in the d Max..it reminds me farmers wearing their sunglasses on the highway
The Ranger in Australia gets an unlimited mileage 5 year warranty, still the Mitsibishi gets up to 10 years if comparing warranty's.
Great review, captured the important aspects of the bakkies. On DMX vs Hilux on gravel or uneven road surfaces, I respectfully differ with that; the suspension of the of Hilux is as rigid as it has been over a decade ago…very bumpy and unrefined. DMX is super good, even the previous generation is as good.
All bakkies tested were 4x4, but not one review or mention on how they stack up against each other on that front. I was so looking forward to that aspect of the comparison. This looked like a 4x2 review, definitely not a 4x4 review.
Had 3 of those vehicles (hilux, triton, dmax) but Isuzu All day, lots of compartments, and car like driving is something special, It provides the best view while driving. I'm 6'6 I must say most comfortable when I was driving was Isuzu. Others are good but very exaggerated, People would be amazed by the other car's looks and the size but those are not practical when you own one. Isuzu really doesn't make you feel like you own a bakkie. It's a big car but still very handy.People are complaining about the engine noise but you covering up with the music lol had the 2014 model and 2022, and probably I will be upgraded to the 2024 one. People definitely should visit Thailand !!
Thank you this gave alot of perspective when it comes to deciding on what the best investment would be, I do appreciate your insight
Would have been epic if you included a universal/deeplink with the comparison preconfigured in your app! Cool vid dude!
Thanks for the idea!
Great review, curious though about the new Mazda BT50 and the Peugeot Landtrek and why they weren’t featured
Any feedback on dust issues in the cabin on the ford and amarok bakkies while driving on gravel?
@22:27 The P-series has lockable front and rear diff??? That's amazing moss!🙌
Isn't it a substantial advantage in some condition why no further in depth review after just mention it
The P-Series is a good new player but am an Amarok fan. And, the comparison back to back was insightful, thank you...
The fact that the Peugeot bakkie isn't here is an interesting way of saying "don't bother wasting your money."😂
Plz do a another buyer's Guide between the Amarok Aventura,Top spec ISUZU D-MAX AND RANGER WILDTRAK🙏
Great video🙌
But why use the legend for comparison and not the raider? Shouldnt the legend be compared to the fords wildtrack? And will there be a Ford Raptor vs toyota hilux GR comparison👀
Fantastic review. My input on a Hilux: its a nice place to be in the driving seat. But upgrade the sound. But the layout is for me. I still doubt the suspension compared with the D4D’s.
I hear about all the good caracterisstics of other bakkies, but if I have to buy now it will be difficult to buy anything else than a Hilux. But hopefully the new Triton as I have always liked them, but they are always just that bit behind.
I wish the landtrack Peugeot would have been included in the video. Great information overall
I wonder what shocks and springs in South Africa does the Hilux use ... i drove a triton back to back with a Hi-lux Conquest ... Triton was way smoother on the road. Both running on 30psi stock tires
For those start new business or buy more than 1, choose GWM Canon P Series, you got 2 instead if 1. Can buy 1 more or save more money for business. Great Saving!🔥🌸🔥
I have loaded 900kgs in the bin no problem and I towed 3000kgs no problem in the p-series multiple time, and bakkie is on 150 000kms no issues
Awesome
Paid 910 000 for my hilux in 2021 and done 20 000 kilos and got offered 630 000 a few weeks ago
Paying a million bucks for a bakkie blows my mind
I've always hated my Fords by comparing them to others, but they always did the job really well, but wait, 5 Fords later and am loving them like no other. Rangers rule.
Love the LCD clock in the Hilux, simple and straight forward 👍
That clock reminds me of the Toyota Cressida
What is the difference between GVM and Tare on each?
This sector is going to crash, the prices are almost a million if not over, the running costs like R2000.00 to fill the tank, and with this electronics added to to them, repairs will be killing expensive. What is needed smaller bakkies equivalent to small suv. After all, Hilux is an all rounder value for money. Great review, Ciro
That we have our lovely ANC buddies to thank, with almost 55% of vehicle cost coming up as some form of taxes, you essentially just bribing the wealthy communists just to get a car.
welldone to the team world class presentation
I have a 2016 Ranger 3.2 wildtrak 4x4 auto and burst a water pipe while driving. NO warning lights on the dash......motor packed up 10km further......which of these bakkies have water level alarms?
Which one the best pick up no list from 1 to 7 !!!!
Without watching the whole video, my desired bakkie is a Hilux but with limitations, but my favourite is a Ranger because i own a 2018 model😊😊
My favourite part I’d the Toyota’s roller shutter demo.
I love the Ranger, and i forever will..... i believe proper love, care, and good maintenance will keep it running for as long as you live
@@jasonbrown1263 I'll need it🤣🤣🤣, if it breaks..... buy another one🤣🤣🤣
@jasonbrown1263 And I'll never in a day of my live be one🤷♂️🤷♂️, like who am i to tell someone what to do and what not to do with their money🤣🤣🤣.... Just buy what you love at the end of the day🤣🤣
@@jasonbrown1263 🤝🤝🤝
I am looking to buy a "forever" bakkie. And even though I was thinking about which one I should buy, my wife asked me a simple question: "If it's a "forever" truck, which one will be here in 20 years and will still can be used?"
Well. I guess we all know which one.
Hilux
Isuzu
More likely all diesels legislated off the road due to emissions, even in South Africa
Isuzu and Mitsubishi have by far the most robust and reliable drivetrains.
I'm a Isuzu fan, but I'm just checking what happened to the Mazda BT 50?
This is more subjective, and there is the difference between the one who tries it and the one who always uses it, therefore, if you use and use one of these, as the days go by you know which one will leave you with more back pain, the Navara will not does that, which one will hold more with respect to quality of materials, and interior, the Japanese hold a lot, which one will consume oil, the vw amarok needs more oil every 10,000 km, etc.
Great comparison test, but where's the Landtrek...? It would've been up there with the best in terms of mix of qualities in the group (incl. build quality).
What happened to the Nissan Hardbody, it seems as if it been left behind. Are we gonna get new ones in SA, on the level of this brands?
Go do a 4 grand mapping on the p series and you sort the power and lag problem
I would like to see the JAG T9, Mahindra Karoo and Peogeot Landtrek included in such a shoot out.
saving for a GWM Tank 300
ncap 5 stars
I'd probably go for either the isuzu or the Ford, but GWM piques my interest.
I am speaking under correction but I felt the tow capacity was incorrectly displayed "P however only has a load capacity of 650 kg. In a world where a tone is the norm. Braked towing capacity is 2,250 kilos. That's adequate." is what I found.
I like bakkies they're my favourite.
New Generation Ford Ranger is a stunner and it is very comfy
Please review the land rover sport and disco
Great video next comparison should have the fiat,Mazda and Mahindra in the list. They are underrated and can fill the gap between the Mitsubishi and the Isuzu. They could make up the short fall between most expensive, cheapest and capable.
Don't forget about the Jeep Gladiator and the Merc bakkie too.
@@goodluckcrypto8153 merc has been discontinued for a while now
@@goodluckcrypto8153the Gladiator is surely the best offroad butvthe fuel consumption is just over the top for our market as people are clocking very high km per annum, then you dont want a heavy vehicle. That 3,6 Jeep engine eats 4l/100 km to my old 2014 d4d who is lifted with big tires. And on tar due to poor ride quality the SWB Wrangler cant keep up with a Hilux doing 120-130
The Korean Sassong Musso is a very well assembled vehicle with a competitive price, and is selling well here in Australia
When will the review of madza BT50?
He is just cool....and seems pretty right in all he says
The Navarra has not tested well in towing reviews here in Australia due to its coil rear end and lacks the torque spread in the Ford, Isuzu, Triton.
Missing Mazda BT 50. Is it similar to D-max?
I wish a Mahindra Karoo was added in this bakkie comparison/review.
I really dont want to be one of those critics, but why is the XLT ranger being compared to the Legend RS, which is the top spec hillix wouldn't the V6 wildtrack be a better companion
All the bakkies are beautiful but still I love Isuzu
If I bought an Amarok or Ranger I would get a V6. How about a review on the V6.
I must say i disagree with the triton
I am disappionted in the triton but i must say the 2007 3.5 litre v6 triton is probably one of the best except for the fuel economy
But it is amazing to see that mahindra doesnt make it into this
In my opinion i would rather buy a mahindra and change all the things that i dont like for the price difference
Hilux shouldn’t get a mention doesn’t even have the same safety standards as Ford or Isuzu, Mazda new latest standards
do you guys also review prams???🙄
Give me the Amarok with V6 diesel Panamericana trim and I am sold
P series for me
sound system comparison please. next time
They should of compared the Isuzu V cross range to the others, beautiful bakkie
What would've been interesting is adding the previous Ranger Thunder to the test just to see how it still compares even though there's a new generation.
Times have moved. Why bring old craps into the convo? Madness
@@vhakisa well you clearly didn't read my comment with much understanding
@@jonastsatsi1414 the video is all about the "new 2023" models. Not ones from the previous years. I hope now you understand
Id say instead of bringing old models for comparison rather add extra models like the BT50, Mahindra. Rather make a seperate video to compare old to new.
@@vhakisa You are clearly a troll, a bully, a mean girl and an angry bird.
Haibo guys what happened to Car of the Year Awards?
Would have liked to see brands like Mahindra and Peugeot included
What if Honda also bring bakkies to SA? but they have bakkies for the US, we can do with smaller engines not what they have there.
The Honda bakkie in the USA is unlikely to ever come to SA, the Ridgeback they get is unique in it being a unibody platform. Would love to drive one.
That pseries looks surprisingly good
But the ranger remains best 👌
I love all Japanese Engineering
