It’s time for an almighty Arctic Trucks off-road showdown!
We’ve got our hands on an Isuzu D-MAX, and it’s about to face off against a Toyota Hilux! They’re two incredible pick-ups, and they’ve both been worked on by the team at Arctic Trucks, which means they come with a number of upgrades including wide-body kits, upgraded springs and dampers, wider suspension and huge 35-inch tyres!
So let’s see how these pick-ups compare. Starting with the D-MAX, it’s powered by a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine that can put down 164hp and 360Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it tips the scales at 2,205kg. It’s also equipped with a low-range mode as well as a rear locking diff.
Alongside it is the Hilux, which has a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel under the bonnet that puts down 204hp and 500Nm. It also comes with off-road tech like in the Isuzu, although it is a bit heavier, tipping the scales at 2,325kg.
Both these trucks come in at just under £70,000 once Arctic Trucks have gone to work on them, but which will come out on top in this video? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

@module79l28 3.0 is an absolute beast of an engine and there is absolutely a need for it. So much more torquey than the little 1.9
I have the 3.0 LT with a chip it has 202 hp / 496Nm, drinks 8.6l./100km (Unloaded), it's almost 18 years old and starts after 1/4 turn even in cold mountain winter. Basically, in the rest of the world (South East Asia, Australia). The Isuzu DMAX Markets have 2 engine options. The 1.9L RZ4E engine, and the 3.0L 4JJ3-TCX.
I dont know the particular reason why they pulled out the option for the 4JJ3 in the EU. Probably due to laws.

felt more like a drivers test than a car test imo
Greetings from South Africa. Isuzu all day for me. The only issue I have with the brand is that they dropped the 2.5l turbo diesel engine for a 1.9l. I would also prefer a manual transmition over the automatic.
thats because you fucks only have isuzu and other shit brands.
i like the 1.9L isuzu engine, its more efficient and can carry out its duties and functions well. the torque is good around 2000rpm, so for daily task i think its perform well, and I hope the 1.9L can be more durable, reliable and long-lasting than the 2.5L and it seems it can. 2.5L turbo not so durable or reliable, compare to the predecessor (isuzu engine, in old vehicle) without turbo. 🤔
In Latin America we have the Dmax with the 3.0L turbo diesel 190 HP and 450 Nm... its a beast
yeah same in the Philippines. Hilux has a bit more power and its not much difference in price here, only about 2,000 usd difference
We love both from kenya🇰🇪
first test should be done with changed lanes AND ALL OTHER TESTS LIKE THAT TOO!!!
Isuzu offer a power upgrade to 205 BHP and 500Nm in the UK which makes a massive difference lets face it they are both very good trucks and at the end of the day its down to personal preference.
Finally offroad challenge!
1,9L engine practically drew with a 2,8 L. Crazy. He only won because he was faster of the line.
Here in southafrica, Namibia🇳🇦🇿🇦we have the Isuzu dmax artic truck but it's a 3.0L which has 140kw and 450nm of torque

Hilux and D-Max equally amazing tho.
@@purwantiallan5089 They're both good in their own rights:
The earlier D-Max have issues with their diffs. The newer ones have issues with their transmissions. I was always couriering diffs for D-Max. Not exactly reliable for off-road capabilities.
The hilux isn't without it's faults either (DPF). Some replace the DPF, others have the inner "gutted" and tuned to make it still pass an inspection.
