I had a 1996 izusu trooper with a Manual and the v6 gasser back in the day. She was a beast. Parked her for 7 years one time, went out and replaced the battery and she started right up. It took ABUSE from my father and i; I’d kill for another. Plus it had the TIGHTEST turning radius of any vehicle I’ve ever drove, even my two door tj jeep (2001).
Basically, in the rest of the world (South East Asia, Australia). The Isuzu DMAX Markets have 2 engine options. The 1.9L RZ4E engine, and the 3.0L 4JJ3-TCX. I dont know the particular reason why they pulled out the option for the 4JJ3 in the EU. Probably due to laws.
I realized that whenever you do offroad challenges mat wins 95% of the time, because he just full sends the vehicles without a care in the world while the others are very cautious

Tbh despite the lack of power of the dmax, its actually kinda match with the 2.4L hilux although the torque from the dmax come pretty late at 2000rpm vs the 2.4L hilux at 1800rpm. oh btw the 1.9 dmax in my country is rated at 148hp 350Nm meanwhile the 2.4L hilux is rated at 150hp 400Nm. Oh I owned both vehicle.
Matt my suggestion for you is to make extended drag races of these sorta vehicles on off-road surfaces like this.. drag race part was really crazy in this

i like the 1.9L isuzu engine, its more efficient and can carry out its duties and functions well. the torque is good around 2000rpm, so for daily task i think its perform well, and I hope the 1.9L can be more durable,reliable and long-lasting than the 2.5L and it seems it can. 2.5L turbo not so durable or reliable, compare to the predecessor (isuzu engine, in old vehicle) without turbo. 🤔

@@purwantiallan5089 They're both good in their own rights: The earlier D-Max have issues with their diffs. The newer ones have issues with their transmissions. I was always couriering diffs for D-Max. Not exactly reliable for off-road capabilities. The hilux isn't without it's faults either (DPF). Some replace the DPF, others have the inner "gutted" and tuned to make it still pass an inspection.

I owned both 1.9 dmax and 2.4 hilux,both are single cab and abuse both at bornean logging/jungle roads . My observation is both feel almost the same in carrying 900kgs(sometimes 1.3 tonnes at good weather) in terms of pulling power. The only differences are the 1.9 dmax need to revved higher than the hilux and the dmax are very efficient than the hilux. @@cordeg3435
