I don't get the argument of "Toyota is still improving reliability of their hybrid system, and remote commercial operators need to learn to fix them themselves" as reasons why there isn't a full hybrid HiLux. The system has been around for decades in millions of Prius', Camrys, Lexus', and US Klugers, doing hundreds of thousands of kms in taxis, so it is well proven, and so has been plenty of time for miners etc to stock parts, and operators to learn to service them. Even just introducing HSD as a separate model like every other Toyota, or in higher-grade consumer HiLux models that don't often leave cities, would still allow choice and a transition.
