@@AraratGold because they have the "premium appeal" to the average person. Plus it's really only advantageous in a track performance vehicle that requires air cooling under constant hard braking. Anyone who buys this over a Cannon X is actually a little foolish, particularly if price for features is a thing…which is a big part of what this video was about. Also you mentioned that the Triton was class leading in the rear seat space, without mentioning the Cannon. And you also said that all utes dip down on quality when you move to the rear seat…but had highlighted in the Cannon review that this was not the case with it. (And no, I don’t own a cannon, or any ute yet for that matter).

Having the current model; cannot stand the lag. I thought they were going to punch out at least have 500 newton metres of torque to keep up with the competition, but no, they just gave it a little bit of power and torque. I feel if they had done a lot more with the power everything else with the car will be forgiven because let's be honest, at the end of the day , that's what people buy them for.
When did you last come to a full stop because the vehicle didn't have enough torque to move. I tow 3t behind our MR Triton on NZ roads. Never ran out of torque yet. Gearing is the problem, not power. Two overdrives gears is stupid. The overall gearing is too high and 900rpm gaps between gears too large. Aside from that, why is 500Nm peak torque a magic number other than in a brochure war? I'd take 470Nm from 1500-2750rpm over 500Nm from 1750-2000rpm all day.
@@DW-10 i agree with the gearing as 6th in our manual box is not used unless over 120km/hr ( so useless here with our low freeway speed limit) It actually uses more fuel in 6th gear on our trips to Qld unladen, tested often between 5th and 6th over the years we've done it. I try to ease off the line without smoking the clutch and it just wants to stall unless 2000rpm plus is dialled up. It's not a competition to say who can and can't drive manuals as I've done it for 30 plus years it's the only car I've had an issue with getting off the line without it wanting to bog down and in between gears It drops to 1500 RPM it's just too gutless! The pollution control doesn't help with the DPF starving it of its actual torque ( dyno only reveals 318nm @ the wheels in these if you research). Exhaust and Dyno tunes are the only way to help fix it as many have done. The problem with the Triton is the peak torque curve is 2500 rpm against the rivals , which is between 1750 and 2000 RPM . 2500 rpm is just too high and you can't get off the line smoothly in the manual with revs; as car reviewers have pointed out! It's good you're happy with your towing..
Sadly the need to achieve an acceptable result in an arbitrary fuel consumption test means the vehicles are lumped with gearing that actually results in poorer real world fuel economy. In addition to a g/box with two ODs, Mitsi has also changed the diff ratios from 4.27:1 to 4.09:1 with the new Triton (autos). So they gave it 10% more power and torque but 5% taller gearing and it weighs more. No wonder it is slower. The 8sd box from the PS with the 4.09 diffs would have given the new Triton a lower first gear, 6 gears to the 1:1 ratio and still provided a stupidly tall final drive ratio in 8th for the lab fuel test. Lost opportunity I think. Hopefully in the facelift when/after the new PS launches.
Almost went one of these GSR as those front seats were amazing but I couldn’t get over that rear air vent thing making a constant noise in my ear! We’re ended up getting a Wildtrak. Side note who actually tows 3.5t with any of these utes?🤷🏻♂️
This pretty much concludes that the new Triton is still lagging in core competitiveness and most importantly, cost-effectiveness. I'm sure at least the top spec is going to see minimal sales
Not when a comparable model forces you into the v6 models just to get the same 4A/H AWD then you’re up for another 11k and then you’ve taken a hit on fuel economy. I think it ticks all the boxes, keeps fuel usage to a minimum and has AWD for road use which I loved my my old GLS

I'd say "because they didn't need to" and it is more expensive? Hilux, D-Max and BT-50 all run 6spd. Ranger has 10, Nav has 7. To be "brochure competitive" they could use the 6. Also creates an easy update pathway when the Pajero Sport is released in 1-2yrs time (along with new Nav and Hilux competition.
This vehicle will outlast the Ranger . It's going to be more reliable
I feel like im the only person who likes the way it looks....
Still got the crappy rear drum brakes, so last century ! Even my old 1988 GQ Patrol had discs all round!
Drums are better for hauling, and better as a handbrake too
The Gq/Gu has a separate drum on the back of the transmission as a handbrake too.
You realise semis use drums, right?
@@biggusoofus9682 If drums are so " good ", why do the likes of Landcruiser, Patrol, Ram, Silverado etc have discs all round ????????
Drums suffer from brake fade when braking with big loads, and are shit are water crossings!
@@AraratGold because they have the "premium appeal" to the average person. Plus it's really only advantageous in a track performance vehicle that requires air cooling under constant hard braking. As for wading purposes, last time I checked, drums are vacuum sealed while discs are exposed to the elements so...aren't drums better for flooding?
Lastly, discs are easier to service on your own. But I doubt Landcruiser, Patrol, Ram, premium trucks, etc. owners would do it by themselves. They're more likely to take it to a service center with professional mechanics, which in that case it doesn't really matter if they are drums or discs.
Summary/TLDR: Why spend extra when you really aren't going to to make use of that "extra goodness" in day to day applications?
This could be the one to replace my 2015 Amarok... but I'd definitely miss that ZF 8 speed auto
U need 8 speeds where?
@@ericm4426 It's a much better gearbox, saves fuel, better for towing and it just shifts faster and you have proper manual control.
it makes the 6 speed in the ford rangers feel like a 90's gm 4 speed. it even feels better than the 10 speed
@@javic1979 THAN the 10 speed.
GSR looks worse than the povvo pack.
I honestly don't think I'll ever buy a new car again if annoying distracting "safety" features and tracking and capturing your personal data are the standard all manufacturers are aiming for.
Good to see you done a few lines of coke before you started the review

I want the montero/pajerosport/shogun version of this
That's a very very nice interior, huge upgrade over the outgoing generation. They always improve the interior, getiing better and better every new gen. Clean and elegant. Very good usability.
I prefer this than Hilux's interior. Even previous gen Triton's interior is better than the newest Hilux's, IMO.
Last gen Hilux's interior is better than the current gen Hilux's interior, so it's a downgrade, IMO. Interior feels cramped and cluttered, claustrophobic. Door pocket bottle holders are sooo tiny.
Back to this new Triton, yup, this interior is a big win.
Few things for further improvement, IMO, in the order of priority/importance/feasibility :
* better calibration on the driver attention monitoring system,
* replace the mechanical park brake with EPB, to clean up center console area, for better storage and usability,
* give it a REAL air conditioning for the rear passengers or just get rid of that stupid air recirculation thingy altogether,
* get rid of the leaf spring suspension, give it full coils
No no no Ford ranger or Toyota still cannot beat the Mitsubishi tittle record in Guinness books of world record as the king of rally offroad dakar championship how come ford can better perfect than Mitsubishi
AdBlue, Safety management system and shutdown/restart all reasons why I went for runout deal on previous generation not that there aren't some small things that crap you off in that but at least you know what your up for not too mention prob one of the biggest reasons for purchase 10-year warranty 10-year fixed price service at 15 thou interval not 10 maybe if they can sort their issues I'll trade after 5 years if not will look further.
You have to change the 2.4 liters to Mitsubishi pajero evolution 3.5 liters twin turbo then you know the kick in is very very very very faster below 6 second
They didn't make a basic enough veron we need a basis petrol Ute like the workmate hilux
It's coming the end of the year
Sold on most parts...but the driver monitoring system might break that..
Hope Mitsubishi Launch in India
I have 3.2did i will never go from a big engine, down grade, they dont last....!!!
I think it looks ok. At least it doesn't have a rediculously large grille 🐸
Toyota definitely have to step up their interior with the new hilux to stay relevant.
I feel they will update this model end of 25 might pay to hold off because they will address these issues and possibly give us a hydrogen hybrid 👍🏼
All utes should have the back seat space as the new triton
Anyone who buys this over a Cannon X is actually a little foolish, particularly if price for features is a thing…which is a big part of what this video was about.
Also you mentioned that the Triton was class leading in the rear seat space, without mentioning the Cannon.
And you also said that all utes dip down on quality when you move to the rear seat…but had highlighted in the Cannon review that this was not the case with it.
(And no, I don’t own a cannon, or any ute yet for that matter).
I've owned a Cannon X for over a year and would have to agree. The Cannon is massively underrated.
Is that not a nissan with a different dress
Nah mate Nissan let Mitsubishi take the lead on this one, expect the next Navara will be based on this instead of the other way round
@@prolificity well thats not to bad so only problem for us over here in britain and ireland its rubbish renault engines put into them
I love my 2020 mitsubishi.Triton i cannot stand these audible alarms. Half the time I don't know why they are going off.the seat belt pisses me off when I'm in a paddock in and out off gates , these ute aren't designed for work , they are for yuppies
something super annoying about this guys voice and the way he talks 4 minutes and im out
I honestly don't see any difference in cabin features over my MY23 GLS besides the new safety stuff. I even have the wireless phone charger from delivery. to me all it is is a bigger uglier MR with way to many safety and emissions crap added like the introduction of ADBLU. I'll pass thanks
Get an eye test mate
The MR interior is absolute dogshit are you insane.
That safety crap that keeps beeping is there any way to turn that off
Your pricing seems off
I just realized the new NP 300 is in fact a rebadged Mitsubishi Triton...
Nagvara for hire

3rd Mitsubishi
Who’s next
Still a no...always a no
then dont buy it
Better than a ranger.
Traded in my l200 for a ranger and I'm definitely not going back
24:31 There goes monetization.

@@davaunfrancis590 Aww 😞 I just wanted him to edit it out for money's sake.
That 3500kg towing is nonsense. It is way too much weight for any of those Utes realisticly.
Almost went one of these GSR as those front seats were amazing but I couldn’t get over that rear air vent thing making a constant noise in my ear!
We’re ended up getting a Wildtrak.
Side note who actually tows 3.5t with any of these utes?🤷🏻♂️
Great vid but….triTon, not triDon….was grating on me the entire vid.
I saw this triton more big than toyota and slightly small from ford ranger. I guess
Ok Aussie Man Reviews
Aussie man-child I think you mean
I would have really enjoyed this review if I was eleven.
You wanted Mitsubishi to put the bigger engine 3.5 liters in Mitsubishi Triton, even 2.4 liters Mitsubishi Triton can become the AXCR cross country rally championship if 3.5 liters Mitsubishi pajero evolution rally dakar king of champions Guinness books of world record still defending champion no other brand can challenge Mitsubishi record
I cannot wait for the new Navara. It’s going to be better than the Mitsu
What an ugly looking box
So it has the Nivara engine. Yeah I’m right.
CarSauce - you are really irritating to listen too, you constantly yelllllllllllllllllllllllll!
Yaaaaaaay, Daddy Jacob time!! 🎉🎉🎉 .... Jacob? Daddy Jacob?! .... 😭😭😭
The grille is hideous and would be replaced with something else straight away.
The blind main designer at Mitsubishi should be fired…
Ugliest dcab 4x4 I’ve ever seen… in fact, have they ever made a good looking Triton?
No adaptive cruise control under 25km/h is a huge deal breaker for families.
Not sure why you really need cruise control going that slowly 🤷
You're kidding right? I mean i'd prefer to not rely on cruise control at those speeds. I think you'll find no buyer of this ute (or any other ute/car for that matter) that has a family, is going to sweat it over such a thing. Honestly, that is an absolute first seeing such a comment about adaptive cruise control.....
Really? Who uses cruise control at 25
I doubt it, family man and have never used acc at those speads
Adaptive cruise control @ 25km/h is that for sleeping while you drive? , take a nap on the way to grocery?
Wow, looks old/outdated already. Yuk
Part time 4wd is useless for most people.
It's got the ugliest front end of all the trucks, the Chinese Ute's look a lot better
Thank God it's not a truck but a dual cab ute ..learn the difference between a dual cab ute and truck.
Someone needs glasses. It's quite handsome. The same cannot be said for the Canon
Why do so many feel the need to adopt the US vernacular?
It's in Australia so it's a ute.
I think it looks quite good really.
Don’t know about the new ldv t60 front end
The Chinese utes don't look better , also good like with those poorly designed engines and terrible awd systems.
You are better off buying a 2wd triton than a 4wd Chinese ute
That's one fugly Ute, also comes with the Renault technology😬 no thanks
I was interested until I saw euro 6 and adblue
Yeah but thats mandatory for NVES on all new models from 2025 so good finding one without it in the future champ.
The dam electronic systems in modern utes are a pain and a danger. Got a 2018 ute with too much tech.
Honestly this UTE should be damn perfect competitor for the top 2. Unfortunately the front facia and rear ruined looks. Mitsubishi should study well for what should done for better appeal or good to eyes of anyone. Majority has a second thought of having one because of the ugly looks. I mean how can you wear everyday such a dress if you look like a weird attire. Pls change the design of facia for more appealing looks to eyes of everyone. That's my honest review. I am a Pajero fun boy
